Weed has remained illegal herb in Kenya despite many calling for it’s legalization.

It’s belied that 8 out of 10 Kenyans you meet are smoking weed or have already smoked weed.

The church has been the biggest opposer’s of the push to legalize the already in use herb.

A recent survey indicates that most women have been using cannabis to relieve menstrual cramps.

Sixty percent of Kenyans had already smoked or drunk cannabis, mostly 36 percent use it to treat pain, depression and anxiety.

Those who hadn’t used the drug were not strongly against it despite foreign institutions like the Church being against it.

The findings were also presented at the annual conference for the American College of Gynecology last week.

Cannabis products are currently being used by women both recreationally and medically.

Most percent of women experience notable menstrual cramps.

  • Baby Skin Care and Boils Treatment

Baby Skin Care and Boils Treatment

Everyone wishes to take maximum good care of their baby(ies). It’s everyone’s wishes to get a baby too. Today we learn how to take care of your babies skin.

Babies have the most sensitive skins ever recorded. Their immune system is still developing. This makes them vulnerable to many infections.

Most weather conditions are unfavourable to babies skin. In such conditions, babies may develop rashes on their skins called boils.

A boil is a tender lump that appears on the skin because of some infection in an oil gland or hair follicle.

Staphylococcus Aureus is the infectious bacterium cause of boils.

The bacteria is mostly present on the skin. It gets into the babies skins through sweat pores or small skin cracks.

This infection then grows into a painful lump of pus. Boils erupt everywhere, be it on the face, back, neck, shoulders, thighs, and buttocks.

They are also said to be contiguous. If left unattended, they spread to other areas of the body. People coming in close contact with the baby’s skin may be at risk of getting infected too.

The infection are transmissible through sharing of towels, bedsheets or toothbrushes.

Some medical conditions can also expose a baby to a greater risk of developing boils.

Poor personal hygiene, lack of necessary nutrients in the body, chemical exposure from use of harsh soaps, creams or detergents and low immune system can also cause boils.

The doctor advice and check up is always recommended if you sport a boil on your baby.

A thorough physical examination is done by the Doctor. They also test a wad of the boil to rule out any other underlying medical reasons for the appearance of boils.

In case the boil bursts, it’s advisable you wipe the area clean with some cotton and antiseptic wash.

After drying, cover it with gauze or dressing to prevent the babies from touching them

Medical findings forbids squeezing or piercing the boil.
This not only affects babies skin but also results in scarring spread of infection.

A medical magic that can be self administered is boils on the baby’s head. Rubbing alcohol on the area treats the boil.

Rubbing coconut oil also helps in cooling the boils in case of multiple occurrence.

The e-passports are designed to better protect national borders and identities of citizens. They have the latest security features and design techniques besides a new style polycarbonate bio-data page.

Kenya launched its e-passport programme in 2017, making it the first country in the East African Community (EAC) to do so. In a circular dated April 15 to government institutions, Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua froze all foreign travels for public servants with old passports citing hitches in processing of visa and entry permits using the machine-readable ones, which are set to expire in September.

US embassy in Nairobi has also had to review its visa issuance policies saying only those with new passports will qualify to be issued with a visa.

  • Barca Triumphs Again

    Barca Triumphs Again

Barca has done it again. This time around in a world class performance from this seasons La Liga championship.

In January, Barca’s advantage was five points, February six, March seven and April eight.

Some then hoped there could be a race when they drew 4-4 at Villarreal but a few days later they hammered Atletico and that was the genesis of their race to victory.

Even if Barcelona had collapsed, Real Madrid were too far behind to capitalize while Atletico, fragile away from home, have never looked capable of the winning the run.

Barcelona may yet prove they are the best team in Europe in the UEFA competitions when they met UK’s Liverpool in the semifinals.

That aside, Barca are indisputably the best in Spain after they wrapped up their fourth La Liga title in five years on Saturday.

Barca are now nine points clear of Atletico Madrid with three games left to play.  While Real Madrid gaze set to finish runners up in consecutive seasons behind the titleholders by double numerals in terms of points.

The shortcomings of Real, who now own the pathetic record of winning the La liga only once in seven years, are put down unembellished by the table but a smaller margin compliments Atletico too.

Here’s the video, In Spanish language, of Barcelona’s 1-0 against Levante that secured them the Trophy.

JKIA And KBC Risk Being Auctioned

The Kenyan Government risks an auction  of  key  public institutions such as KBC and JKIA if it fails to meet its debt repayment commitments.

Kenya’s current public debt has exceeded the mark set by the Public Finance Management Act. The act allows every government to borrow only up to 50 percent to the GDP ratio.

Kenyan Parliament has now raised red flag over the bloating public debt induced by hefty borrowing. Emgwen MP Alex Kosgey has proposed the amendment of the law to regulate government borrowing. He termed the current debt standing at Ksh. 5.6 trillion as extreme.

Currently, President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga had a trip to Beijing, China. Government handlers had hinted that the trip aimed at securing another possible loan of up to Ksh.368 billion that had been meant to extend the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Naivasha to Kisumu.

However, President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday countersigned two project delivery agreements amounting to Ksh.226 billion through a concessional financing and Public Private Partnership (PPP).

But there is a proposal before National Assembly’s Budget Committee that wants government borrowing permanently capped at Ksh.6 trillion.

Speaking before the committee, Sigowet Soin MP Mr. Koros said that Kenyans should not allow a state whereby the Treasury or the Presidency or anyone to just decide they want to borrow this much yet mwanachi is already over-strained by the current public debt.

According to Treasury, as at December last year, the public debt stood at a outrageous Ksh.5.3 trillion, with that amount expected to hit a record high Ksh.6.3 trillion by this year.

With China being the top lender, the Kenyan taxpayers are sweating to repay the Chinese government Ksh.637 billion with interests accumulated.

Kenya owes Japan and France a staggering Ksh.166 billion, with that amount even higher when all the interests are accumulated. This even as Germany, Italy, Belgium, USA and Finland are all training their eyes on Kenyan taxpayers to pay back their Ksh.63 billion.

Already, the government has listed three non-performing loans including Ksh.7.9 billion by the State Broadcaster KBC, Tana & Athi Rivers Development Authority’s Ksh.1.2 billion loan as well as the East African Portland Cement that has a loan of Ksh.1.5 billion.

These institutions now stand at a risk of facing auction should the government fail pay back the various debts.

Kyle McCarter: Corrupt Kenyan Officials Will Now Be Denied Visas To The US

From the moment he stepped into the country after his approval as the US ambassador to Kenya, Kyle McCarter made his intentions clear. Enhancing USA-Kenya ties. He’s also been building a signature of being vocal about corruption which is hailing the country.

‘Fed Up With Corruption’ has become a dominating theme and the Motto that the ambassador has adopted in his tweets.

Kenya loses an estimated Sh600B every year to corruption in a country where many live under a dollar a day and also the country with most million dollar millionaires in the region. Because of corruption, basic social amenities have been undelivered.

Much of stolen public money is often stashed in foreign countries including the USA and this why Kenya needs partnerships with international partners. Swiss recently inked a deal with Kenya to help repatriate stolen money.

As an intervention, it has been proposed for Western countries where the loot is often stashed by corrupt public officials to impose sanctions on such leaders including denying them visas. This will confine them in Kenya without luxury of flying out to go blow up the billions.

Kenyans if not Africa has been waiting to see President Trump’s policies in Africa especially on tackling corruption and it seems there’s an answer. The new Ambassador Kyle has confirmed that the embassy is denying leaders who’ve been involved in corruption visas to travel to the US.

Asked if the US would consider denying thieves (corrupt officials) visas to visit America, he firmly answered l, “Absolutely. Already happening.”

This is a big step in the direction and we can only hope the worst is yet to happen, it’s a great opportunity for the ambassador to make a name as the only USA ambassador in Africa to have ever publicly and loudly joined hands in fighting corruption that is now eating up our generations.

  • Male Birth Control Pill Has Been For The First Time Declared Effective And Safe For Human Use

Male Birth Control Pill Has Been For The First Time Declared Effective And Safe For Human Use

For years, scientists have been trying to develop a safe and effective version of the pill for men, and a new drug candidate could be the contraceptive we’ve been looking for.

This week, scientists in the US announced that an experimental oral drug called 11-beta-MNTDC looks to be safe and tolerable, based on results from a phase 1 clinical trial involving 40 men.

“Our results suggest that this pill, which combines two hormonal activities in one, will decrease sperm production while preserving libido,” says male reproduction biologist Christina Wang from the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute (LA BioMed).

In the clinical trial, Wang and her team recruited 40 healthy men.

For 28 days, 30 of these participants took a low or higher daily dose of the 11-beta-MNTDC (full name: 11-beta-methyl-19-nortestosterone-17-beta-dodecylcarbonate), while the remaining 10 men took a placebo.

11-beta-MNTDC is a modified form of testosterone with both progestational (in effect, sperm-blocking) and androgenic(hormone-balancing) characteristics.

“Since testosterone production is shut down in the testes, the androgen action in the rest of the body maintains ‘maleness’ elsewhere, supporting things like male pattern hair, deep voice, sex drive and function, and lean body mass,” explained one of the team, endocrinologist Stephanie Page from the University of Washington. She presented the team’s results at the Endocrine Society’s annual conference in New Orleans on Sunday.

In the first clinical trial results on the drug, that balancing act looks like it might deliver a safe oral drug while hypothetically stopping sperm production – although it has to be emphasised this is only preliminary data.

The participants taking 11-beta-MNTDC did not demonstrate serious adverse events or significant clinical concerns, but showed significantly reduced levels of two hormones called LH and FSH that are needed for sperm production.

That said, this 28-day experiment was testing 11-beta-MNTDC’s safety, rather than contraceptive effects – but the early results are positive, suggesting future research could demonstrate those, too.

Before we get to that point, it’s important to show that 11-beta-MNTDC is safe to take. And it does appear to be safe, with a minority of the men experiencing some side effects. A few of the participants reported fatigue, headaches, and acne during the experiment.

In terms of sexual effects, five men said they felt mild changes in libido, and two experienced mild erectile dysfunction. Nonetheless, for a hormone-based drug, which tend to inevitably carry some level of side effects, the researchers characterise these effects as mild.

Despite the promise of the results, the researchers say it will be some time before a drug like 11-beta-MNTDC will be available to men. The researchers are currently planning follow-up trials for 11-beta-MNTDC and a functionally similar chemical called dimethandrolone undecanoate (DMAU).

Depending on how those future experiments go, the team says a safe hormonal male pill should be available on the market in about 10 years.

That might seem like a long way away, but the researchers stress that it’s necessary, to ensure that these experimental drugs aren’t just safe, but functional in terms of blocking sperm production sufficiently to prevent pregnancy.

“This study is very short and we need three months if not more to stop sperm production,” Wang said.

“All we have shown so far is that it shuts down the hormones that control the function of the testes.”

The findings were presented at ENDO 2019 in New Orleans on Sunday. Related research by the team is reported here.

  • Britam Risks Losing Billions As Court Rules In Favor Of Cytonn Over Unsubstantiated Fraud Claims

Britam Risks Losing Billions As Court Rules In Favor Of Cytonn Over Unsubstantiated Fraud Claims

Back in 2014 Britam accused four of its former employees of theft of billions of shillings, to the tune of kes. 8 billion, and sought to file criminal complaints about them. Britam said that the theft was discovered after audits done by accounting firm KPMG and law firm Coulson Harney.

The four former employees refuted this claiming that no such theft had happened and wrote to Britam asking them to disclose the said reports to prove their innocence. Britam, however, refused to disclose the audit reports and the four former employees then filed a lawsuit in the high court in 2016 seeking to compel Britam to disclose the audits.

After three years of litigation, the judge ruled and ordered that indeed Britam must disclose the said audit reports if they are relying on them to allege theft by its former employees. Additionally, the judge found Britam’s conduct so unbecoming that it also slapped Britam with the penalty of refunding the accused former staff with the cost of the lawsuit.

Contacted for comment, our source at Britam says that the board is furious with the CEO, Benson Wairegi, why he filed frivolous lawsuits just for the sake of trying to kill competition from former staff. The new investors IFC and Swiss RE are apparently unhappy with Mr. Wairegi and want to see him fired by the end of the year.

The stock has tanked by over 75% since he lost his team to Cytonn and is now trading at below IPO price. Our sources tell us that the new investors, IFC, Swiss Re, and AfricInvest are frustrated because they’re sitting on paper losses, having bought the share price at kshs. 15 and now it is trading at below 9 bob.

When we contacted a source at Cytonn, she said that “all their games shall come to a sudden and painful end. We are going to go after them for billions of shillings for damages. They are the ones with really big legal issues. The judge was very clear in his ruling. And we can assure you, the so-called forensic audits don’t exist, they have just fixed themselves with their lies”

Sooner or later the market will realize that this is the biggest corporate lie ever perpetrated by a listed company to investors and in plain sight of regulators and international shareholders like IFC and Swiss Re.

Our investigative desk obtains the ruling below.

  • Buyer Beware: Banda Homes Pyramid Scheme

Buyer Beware: Banda Homes Pyramid Scheme

    Hello Sir,

I will try to keep this as brief as possible while giving as much info as I can on this company ‘Banda homes’, and why I believe it will dwarf Suraya Property and Ekeza sacco fraud in a couple of months or so.

Our major failure as Kenyans is that we labor hard to make money but are too lazy to conduct due diligence before laying down our hard earned money in investments. Any company advertising on our TV, radio stations, Internet and billboards is deemed legit enough to put our coins into.

Banda homes is an offplan developer meaning they sell off houses at design stage and builds them as monthly instalment are paid along the duration of construction. It started out as Dinara developers around 2011, then Lettas developers around 2013, then Banda homes in 2018. The directors mastered the art of rebranding each time after soiling their reputation of not delivering on their projects through mismanagement of funds.

As we speak now there are projects started as far back as 2011 that are still ongoing, and still today you have customers buying into Banda homes as they are unaware of this fraudulent past.

At the center of this circus is a man Andrew Kamau Muhiu the mastermind of all this. A 35 yr old fellow living a good life with a dozen homes high end vehicles and several women in line. (Brother to the late lawyer Paul Magu Muhiu, who committed cult killings of his wife and 3 children, before committing suicide back in 2015).

He hides behind curtains and has put up his former employees as directors so that them that check on Banda homes don’t stumble on his fraudulent name.

    The fraud

Mr Kamau has court cases to his neck from his previous unfinished projects from mismanagement in Dinara and Lettas developers. Some projects are in Thindigua and a handful in Thika. His solution was to raise funds externally to plug the deficit as the cases were not going away and have been on for years.

    Enter Banda

In January 2018 he launched two housing estates in Kimunyu, Kenyatta Rd. Through vigorous marketing sold out about 100units securing a deposit of 150M (houses cost 4M, deposit of 1.5M bal in 10months).

Part of this money went to clear deficits of his previous failed projects.

He further launched more estates between January and April 2018 with most being along Kenyatta Rd. Off Thika Rd and some in Kikuyu near Sigona totalling about 900 units and collecting deposits of about Sh.1.5Billion.

This amount was used to partly pay for the land of the estates and about Sh.200M diverted to finish up the old projects.

Going forward he had a deficit of about Sh.300M diverted to old projects. Also a lion share of these deposits was used to purchase the pieces of land.

    Enter Kenyatta family land

Mr Kamau convinced one of the heirs of the Kenyatta family to sell him a 20 acre piece for 7million per acre. He had 145 housing units designed on this piece of land and sold them out in a month getting about Sh.218M in deposits, he used this to pay part of the land cost and to cover back the Sh.300M diverted from Banda homes.

When Former First lady Mama Ngina heard about the price their family land was sold at she rejected the sale and returned the deposit to Banda homes (should have been 15M per acre). That’s when this story was aired in the media in September last year.
Most buyers came for their refunds but we’re told to wait, as there was no money anyway. This is when the rain started beating them.

Banda homes went on to launch two more estates with about 300units, seeking to solve their issues with customer deposits.

In all these estates customers were expected to continue with monthly instalments of about 300,000 each, to support ongoing construction. But on noticing very slow progress despite the consistent payments, most started holding on further payments until they see satisfactory progress on their housing units.

Them that have bought into the estates are trapped as there is a clause in the contract that says you forfeit 40% of your initial deposit if you choose to pull out of the contract.

Problem is more and more Kenyans are still buying into this estates not knowing what awaits them. They are roped in by cheap prices and a vigorous marketing machine ‘The Property Show’ included.

When Kenyans finally realize the truth and Banda homes cannot get any more deposits, the chicken will come home to roost. Before us will be a developer who has duped us to invest in over 1500 units, mismanaged over Sh.3Billion of Kenyans money and counting not delivered on any of them (to put this in perspective, some of these estates have only done bush clearing despite having been sold out).

Like pyramid schemes the lifeline of Banda homes has been deposits from new buyers, being the reason the company has launched estates totalling 1500units in just a year, who can beat this record.

Until then give knowledge to them that are too lazy to do due diligence.

How Sameer Group Of Companies Was Defrauded Sh80M By Conmen Posing As President Uhuru In A Corrupt Deal

Conmen posing as President Uhuru Kenyatta have defrauded a Nairobi businessman of Sh80 million pretending that they would award him with state tenders.

Detectives from the DCI Special Crime Prevention Unit over the weekend arrested seven men believed to be part of the cartel that conned officials from Sameer Group of Companies.

So well organised are the criminals, that they have perfected the art of mimicking the President’s voice to near perfection.

Investigators say the conmen, operate as State House officials.

The caller, who imitates Uhuru and speaks in a voice almost similar to that of the President, tells businessmen of major government works which he asks them to take up.

The ‘fake President’, asks the victim to provide some money for logistical support.

He promises to send some State House officials and other staff from the Interior ministry to the victim’s office to collect the facilitation cash.

Men dressed in expensive suits then arrive in the office of the targeted businessman and introduce themselves as the staff of State House sent by the President to collect cash.

The ‘State House staff’ arrive in high-endvehicles and under police escort. They then collect the cash and disappear.

Highly placed sources familiar with the investigations said rogue police officers from Kilimani police station had been hired to provide security services to the State House imposters.

The con scheme came to light last month after officials from Sameer reportedly wrote to State House seeking an audience with the president over a tender deal.

Shocked State House officials after receiving the letter are said to have contacted the Sameer group official and inquired of the deal between themselves and the ‘fake President Uhuru’.

The matter was reported to the police and officers from the DCI headquarters opened investigations.

Police also impounded three high-endvehicles that include Toyota land cruisers and V8s which the conmen were using.

The arrested men have been identified asJoseph Waswa, Duncan Muchai, Isaac Wajekeche, William Simiyu, David Luganya,Gilbert Kirunja and Anthony Wafula.

  • Scandals Reigns At Rural Electrification Authority

Scandals Reigns At Rural Electrification Authority

The Rural Electrification Authority, a parastatal established for purposes of accelerating the pace of rural electrification in the country is not new to fraud as recently EACC summoned its board members to shed light on a report they submitted to Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter implicating some senior managers in corruption.

On the spot on corruption claims is the authority’s Managing Director Peter Mbugua who is believed to be driving the parastatal down the shameful, smelly path of fraud.

According to media reports, the man who was a long serving head of finance at the authority is linked to failure by the REA to connect schools, leading to spectacular failure of one of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s key flagship campaign pledge.

Other key persons reported to be leading from the front in matters corruption include the head of Finance Davis Cheruiyot and Human Resources boss Everlyn Koech.

MD Mbugua is reported to have sex exploits with Everlyn Koech, as a result, she is said to be the de facto MD at the helm of the authority.

Mbugua is said to be bragging of the sexual experience he often has with Koech.

According to local media reports, Mbugua once surprised a friend when he claimed Everlyn Koech who he refers as EK was ‘sweet, hot and her body shines in bed, no need for lights.’

To the man who doesn’t mind intercourse with his juniors, EK knows how to cuddle, nerves to play with when sharing ‘sweet’ moments.

Despite bragging how he enjoys sexual escapades with madam HR, the MD has little to show when it comes to competency in profession related matters. As it’s during his tenure at the finance docket that the authority saw many scandals brought to light. Notably, the multibillion “Electricity for schools” and procurement of faulty transformers and cables.

On the Electrification for School’s program, REA is quoted saying a total of 32,952 public primary schools were connected to power as of December 2018. However, the figure contradicts the data presented to the ministry of Education by the management which showed the figures stood at 27,544 leading to many questioning about 5,408 imaginary schools.

The figure behind the so called “imaginary schools” is said to be a staggering Sh5.4 billion – said to have been lost to fraud.

A section of media reported that the Sh5.4 billion payments were authorized and paid during the period Mbugua served as head of finance or MD.

Mbugua was also on the spot when the Auditor-General questioned other contracts related to inflated numbers.

One key question many ask to date is how he survived the shakeup at the authority which saw then MD, Ng’ang’a Munyu being sacked.

However, it’s reported that Mbugua was used to fix Munyu to land the top job.

He is said to have used his close ties with a powerful Jubilee politician to shield himself from attacks related to graft.

However, recently, Mbugua is said to have turned his back against the politician after realizing the his influence was going down.

He is now said to be among the Mount Kenya Mafia members keen to block the politician’s 2022 Presidential ambitions.

The MD who is a former senior manager at Unga Group, is said to owning a chain of high-end apartments around the country from the massive wealth he has amassed.

He is also linked to a 2017 fraud that saw a court ruling award three contractors Sh139.8 million as compensation and damages, which apparently belonged to one individual.

Following the ruling, a local media has established that most of the companies and contractors are either personal friends of the MD or his relatives.

To protect himself from public ridicule on corruption and audit, he is said to have registered his wealth under the names of his wife and children.

Sources have also intimated to a local media outlet that the man who has branded himself ‘’mweupe kama pamba (as white as wool)” has silently harboured political ambitions. He is also said to be the subject of discussion by the top leadership of various government bodies tasked to end corruption in the country – NIS, DPP, DCI and EACC.

The no nonsense powerful minster, Dr Fred Matiang’i is said to have been enraged by the rot at the authority led by Mbugua and has since ordered a thorough audit report of all contracts from 2014 – when Jubilee government took over the government.

The report will then be tabled before the CS during the next national development implementation and communication cabinet committee meeting to be held at his [Matiang’i] Harambee House after which the office of the DPP and DCI will be authorized to go after Mbugua and several serving and former managers.

Update: Following our expose, Peter Mbugua was  fired and coincidentally replaced with his name sake Peter Nganga Mbugua.
