ODM cooking reasons to kick-out Joho

All has not been well between Mombasa governor Hassan Joho and handlers of ODM party leader Raila Odinga since the party lost Msambweni parliamentary seat in a by-election held in November last year. Joho, a one time ardent supporter and defender of the ODM leader is now considered a baggage with the party luminaries sidelining him with his presidential bid.

The outgoing Mombasa governor who has missed in Raila’s recent events is accused of secretly financing Kilifi governor Amason Kingi who is championing the formation of a political party with coastal roots. Kingi was recently kick out as the ODM chairman, Kilifi branch, barely a month after two political parties (Pamoja Alliance and Kenya Democracy for Change) from the Coast were handed provisional certificates.

Raila’s handlers also claim that their party leader is rebranding himself to appeal to the international community thus can’t be spotted with characters like Joho who has been widely mentioned in drug trafficking and tax evasion scandals. They also claim that the flashy governor is linked to criminal characters and is in bad books with the western powers.

Joho has been the face of ODM in the coastal region where the party bagged majority of elective seats in 2013 and 2017 general elections with Kilifi having all its leaders elected on ODM party ticket.

The plot to kick out Joho is also fueled by the fact that Coast governors who are serving their second and final terms including Kwale’s Salim Mvurya – have been seeking new alliances to remain relevant in the post 2022 politics. Both Joho and Kingi have declared interests for presidency with the support of Raila whom they have backed in the three previous elections.

Joho, businessman Jimi Wanjigi and Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya have all applied for the ODM’s presidential ticket but the party’s election board is planning to announce fresh applications before it hands the ticket to Raila Odinga.

The once vocal politician will be forced to follow his Kilifi counterpart before he makes up his mind to leave the Odinga -led party which has also been abandoned by Kingi allies including Kilifi ODM youth league chairman Samir Nyundo who resigned from ODM citing lack of inclusivity and development for the region.

  • Raila men accuse Wanjigi of engaging in premature campaigns

Raila men accuse Wanjigi of engaging in premature campaigns

ODM luminaries allied to the opposition chief Raila Odinga have accused businessman Jimi Wanjigi of engaging in early campaigns, contrary to the provisions of the electoral laws and party doctrines.

Wanjigi is eyeing ODM party’s presidential ticket against Raila Odinga and Mombasa governor Hassan Joho to run in next year’s general election.

The group led by ODM Chairman John Mbadi on Monday dismissed the meetings the tycoon has been holding with the party delegates claiming that the party’s election’s board has not ratified the list of the representatives.

“The party’s election board has not ratified the common and authentic list of delegates for those who wish to contest the presidency on an ODM ticket. The board will announce the time for campaigns,” said Mbadi said.

Wanjigi met a group of suspected ODM delegates at Aberdare Country Club in Nyeri on August 8, at Aberdare Country Club in Nyeri County who declared their support for his presidential bid.

Mbadi who believes that ODM’s presidential ticket belongs to party owner Raila Odinga dismissed the members allied to Wanjigi as sycophants but not party delegates.

The Suba South law maker called on Wanjigi to wait until the party announces the legitimate delegates before he embarks on his premature presidential campaigns.

The agitated MP further called on those seeking ODM’s presidential ticket to wait until the list is out to lock out the ticket from falling to individuals he described as conmen.

Mbadi also clarified that that many top luminaries of the party have been rattled by Wanjigi’s move.

“It is not yet time for campaigns. The ODM elections board is in the process of harmonizing the list of delegates before embarking on grassroots election across the country.” Mbadi added.

Mbadi who is a key ally of Raila Odinga was angered by Wanjigi’s move to open an ODM party offices in Mt Kenya regions without consulting the party summit, a move he claimed will cause confusion and disorder.

Wanjigi who bankrolled Raila Odinga’s campaigns in 2017 wanted  to open an ODM officer  in Kenol town, Murang’a County but he was stopped by police who accused him of going against the laid down procedures.

“They had not notified us of their plan and when Wanjigi’s team came, we advised them to follow the process and that is where we left it,” Murang’a South Police Commander Alex Shikondi said.

The ODM chairman also accused the tycoon of trying to opening an ODM office in an area the party already has one, saying the was aimed at stirring controversies.

Mbadi compared Wanjigi’s move to that of Migori governor Okoth Obado whose attempts to open a party office in Migori led to bloody gun battles in 2017.

“Even Migori Governor Okoth Obado tried to open an ODM office in hi is county but the party denied him the permission so he doesn’t think he owns the party. There are people who masquerade as sponsors of ODM and this as has only given the party a bad name.” Mbadi said.

Wanjigi has, however, maintained that Raila and his Nasa allies should return the favour after he supported and financed them in 2017.

“I will put on an orange cap and battle it out with other candidates. I’m coming with a big force called Mt Kenya, they better give the ticket to me since they don’t have a formula. If they don’t, we shall leave them at a disadvantage. I sacrificed for them against my own community,” Wanjigi said.

The tycoon also cautioned ODM leaders who have dismissed his presidential bid saying he has been a kingmaker because he knows the winning formula.

  • Fact Check: Does Raila Own Majority Of Gas Companies In Kenya

Fact Check: Does Raila Own Majority Of Gas Companies In Kenya

A big debate following the increase of cooking gas prices from the 16pc VAT increase has sparked different angles on conversations. With most Kenyans expressing their disappointment and fury over the inflated prices, the discussion hasn’t missed a political war.

Coming also at a time when the Deputy President and Raila Odinga exchanging jabs on corruption allegations, fanatics seemingly allied to the DP Ruto have been pushing a narrative that the former Prime Minister owns majority of gas companies with wild allegations that he’s a beneficiary of the price increases.

    https://twitter.com/sammacoha/status/1411969517060857859?s=21

Now let’s get to the facts and churn out the fictions. East Africa Spectre Ltd the company owned by the Raila family is a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Cylinder Manufacturer & Revalidating Company and doesn’t deal in gas manufacturing as perceived. Spectre Manufactures LPG Cylinders for Domestic & Commercial Use for Oil Marketing Companies.

Even though different from East African Spectre, the liquefied petroleum gas cylinder manufacturer based in Nairobi, Spectre International Ltd is part Raila’s flagship business based in Kisumu but has not been in operation since 2017.

One of the biggest gas cylinders manufacturers in the region, Spectre according to the company’s portfolio, About 20% Market Share in New LPG Cylinders Manufacture Versus Over 80% of the Revalidation Market Share.

There’s a likelihood that the gas cylinder you’re using now was made by Spectre and the filling down by the branded company.

Now, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) dealers are the ones who does the filling and branding it to your favorite labels that you have in your kitchen.

LPG market has its owners too, Kenya has approximately 77 licensed LPG dealers but the market is controlled by about 5 key companies and ProGas owned by the Africa Gas And Oil(AGOL) which also owns Proto Energy Limited associated with Mombasa Tycoon Mohammed Jaffer dominating the Kenyan market with about 50pc grip of the market share.

Others include; Total, K-Gas, AfriGas and all working under Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).

Now with the Finance Act 2019 that reinstated 16% VAT on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), but delayed the levy for one year to July 1 due to concerns about the cost of living being in place, Kenyans are faced with the harsh reality of tougher times to make a place.

A temporary reprieve from the Energy Dealers Association who filed a petition at the High Court seeking to freeze implementation of the tax.

The association says the new tax will make cooking gas unaffordable and force some dealers to close shop on low demand for LPG.

They are apprehensive that many Kenyans will shy away from using LPG and shift to dirty kerosene and charcoal for cooking.

The increase in levy would be an added advantage to market dominants and see small firms out of the market if the argument is anything to go by.

Households are paying at least Sh400 more for the 13-kilogramme cooking gas that is retailing at an average Sh2,650, a price level last seen in March 2015.

  • ‘Cerelac Coalition’ pleading with Raila to trash Ruto deal

‘Cerelac Coalition’ pleading with Raila to trash Ruto deal

Members of the One Kenya Alliance alias ‘Cerelac Coalition’ are pleading with their BBI partner Raila Odinga to avoid any political dealings with the Deputy President William Ruto. KANU Secretary General Nick Salat took to his tweeter handle to beg the ODM supremo not to associate himself with Ruto claiming it will tarnish his image as a statesman.

Mr Salat speaks for Kanu boss / Baringo Senator Gideon Moi – a member of the One Kenya Coalition whose colleagues are accusing Odinga of changing tact over s deal to back them after 2017 polls. Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi and Ford-Kenya’s Moses Wetangula have challenged Mr Odinga to return an hand after they stood with him in the past two elections.

The SG spoke after the Kanu chairman and Muhoho Kenyatta held a closed door meeting with ODM party leader Raila Odinga at his Karen home on Tuesday.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga also made impromptu visits to inspect the Green Park Bus terminus at Nairobi’s Railway Station in the  company of Odinga on April 1.

On Tuesday emissaries were sent to lure Odinga not to work with Ruto  though Moi claimed on his Twitter account that the visit was to check on Raila who has  recovered from the Covid-19 which he contracted last month .

This comes at the time when the country is witnessing  new political realignments ahead of the 2022 General Election with Raila rumored to be distancing himself from the One Kenya Alliance and getting ‘cosy’ with William Ruto.

Ruto and ODM deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya also met at Mahali Mzuri camp in Masai Mara National Reserve together with the former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri and former Sports CS Rashid Echesa.

Raila is considering an alliance with his rival Deputy President William Ruto while at the same time struggling to keep his relationship with his handshake partner, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

DP Ruto also hinted at working with the ODM) leader Raila Odinga as he continues to criticise One Kenya Alliance formed by Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi, Kanu chairman and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper party and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula as a coalition of tribal parties.

But the ‘cerelac coalition’ needs someoen of Odinga’s stature and charisma to psyche it up and make it a formidable force ahead of 2022. All members including the former VPs Musyoka and Mudavadi lack national support.

  • How Joho-Raila divorce began in 2018

How Joho-Raila divorce began in 2018

The first ‘valuable item’ the system acquired from the handshake deal is Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho. On May 31 2018, barely three months ater the handshake, Joho hosted Baringo Senator Gideon Moi in his office in Mombasa. The vocal governor has been a staunch supporter of the ODM leader Raila Odinga but their relationship is waning with their silent divorce now beginning to rumble.

Joho is now executing his plot to ditch the orange party by aiming at the presidential ticket that the orange community believes is preserved for Raila.

After leading the Coastal region to support and overwhelmingly vote for Odinga in the past two elections, Joho is now challenging the ODM to return the favor and back his bid. The move leaves support for Raila in shambles when his worthy opponent, DP William Ruto , is leading an onslaught and making inroads into sections of the Coast region.

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi is also championing calls for the formation of a coastal party, an idea that Joho hates in public but supports behind closed doors. He is believed to be funding the entire process and he may use that party as a bargaining chip as he schemes for national politics ahead of 2022.

Since he became ‘a non-profit’ to the ODM party after the March 9 2018 handshake, Joho has been barking to please the system but not necessarily ODM, where he is the deputy leader.

Baringo Senator Gideon Moi reciprocated by inviting the flashy governor to his father’s home in Kabarak where Joho met the former Late President Daniel T. Moi. Such a meeting is monumental in Kenyan politics, it must the point at which Joho chose to reconsider his stay in ODM. If anything he is serving his final term and must scheme his way into national politics where deal making is based regions and numbers.

Joho held a close door meeting with the former powerful president and Senator Gideon who was intensifying his forays into Kwale and Mombasa at the time.

Late President Moi,C, Senator Moi, L, and Governor Joho when he visited Kabarak in 2019 [p/courtesy]
Not much was read about the visit then but the relationship between Joho and Odinga’s ODM worsened when ODM lost Msambweni seat to an independent candidate supported by Dp William Ruto who is eating into Odinga’s support base at the Coast. ODM leaders from Nyanza blamed the Msambweni lose on Joho.

In a retaliatory move , Joho’s family recently refused to fund and mobilize supporters to attend Odinga’s rally in Mombasa during his six day tour of the Coast. The rally was poorly attended amid speculations that 001 is only waiting for expiry of the deadline of presidential ticket applications before he can quit the orange party.

The deadline for submitting applications is March 31, Odinga has not submitted his application but his hardliners like the Suna East Mp Junet Mohamed have already trashed Joho’s bid as a big joke.

Joho is expected to ditch ODM and join the party that Governor is pushing to form which in turn will coalesce with the parties forming Sacred Alliance that is enjoying the backing of the system.

The outspoken governor became ‘pro-system’ after he was sacked in through a deal that saw his family take over strategic cargo terminal in Nairobi built with the public funds. Joho will be in bed with the deep state which is out finish his party boss Raila Odinga and DP William Ruto as the only horses in the 2022 presidential race.

  • How men Raila ditched in NASA returned to scatter the handshake

How men Raila ditched in NASA returned to scatter the handshake

The ODM party is bitterly protesting the developments that have seen the men Raila Odinga ditched in NASA now forming a coalition that is preferred by system while isolating their leader from the 2022 succession matrix.

ANC leader Musalia, Moses Wetang’ula (Ford-K) and Kalonzo Musyoka worked with Raila under the Nasa coalition in 2017, in 2018 Raila abandoned them to strike a handshake deal with President Uhuru but they have regrouped and brought in Baringo Senator Gideon Moi after they accused Raila of political deceit.

The ‘Sacred Alliance’ of Mudavadi, Kanu’s Gideon Moi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Wetang’ula is pushing ODM leader Raila Odinga to periphery when he thought President Uhuru Kenyatta would endorse his 2022 presidential bid.

Although continues Raila has refuted claims that he was hoping for a Kenyatta endorsement, the formation of the alliance has seen his handlers accuse the Jubilee of undermining the handshake partnership with threats to abandon the Building Bridges Initiative.

ODM is now raising the expected concerns that their leader is being used to amend the Constitution through the BBI and then he will be dumped as power brokers converge to chatter a system friendly route for 2022.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi in a rally with members of the Sacred Alliance [p/courtesy]
The move to form the ‘Sacred Alliance’ is to destabilize Raila’s loyal support bases across in Western and Coast with an aim to render him a weak candidate ahead of 2022 general election. ODM has even accused Jubilee, their handshake partners, of being behind the violence witnessed in Matungu by-election where they lost to ANC.

Kakamega Senator Cleopas Malala who was accompanied by goons on the election day were seen attacking IEBC officials but was not arrested since the system used police deal with ANC opponents but Malala argues that ODM was beaten because the people of Western Kenya meant to send a political message to Raila.

“We came up with the best strategy and protected our votes from rigging by ODM which should just accept the defeat and move on. Nobody should try to bring propaganda that we were funded by the state. The unity of the Luyha nation defeated Raila,” Malala said.

But even before the Matungu and Kabuchai by-elections, tension was building after Raila’s men complained that senior civil servants were manipulating the Building Bridges Initiative process.

The BBI secretariat was co-chaired by Jubilee’s Dennis Waweru and ODM’s Junet Mohamed but its now under the Interior PS Karanja Kibicho in a clever move to deny the ODM leader political mileage and whittle down his influence in the whole BBI process.

  • What Ruto means with his ‘plastic support’ for the BBI document

What Ruto means with his ‘plastic support’ for the BBI document

The politics around the handshake and BBI were designed to corner the Deputy President Dr. William Ruto as the enemy of ‘unity’ as well as to paint him as a very corrupt politician.

That resulted to the continued bitter bickering between DP Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga who are likely to face off in the 2022 elections.

But Ruto made a peculiar shift from opposing to supporting BBI report, making BBI a document that will just pass without ‘juice’. Exactly what Raila and Uhuru had not planned for, they have been left punching the air.

He will miss BBI rallies and at the same time deny his enemies the opportunity to use the rallies as a major scheme to gauge Raila’s sway ahead of 2022 since majority may not participate except some few sycophants who will rise and vote it.

Appearing to support the document also saves the DP’s 2022 budget that President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga had trapped him to waste on leading No campaigns but hustlers are known for avoiding impulse at all costs.

Ruto is also ‘supporting’ the document fully aware that it was set to act as Raila’s springboard to 2022 presidential race with the secretariat already headed by Raila’s Mohamed Junet.

Plots are also underway to have the secretariat turned into Raila’s 2022 campaign secretariat, meaning Ruto cannot be ‘a legit member’ of that team.

The possible beneficiaries of a million positions Odinga is drumming for in the a bloated executive and parliaments are in there to draft how senior positions will be shared thereafter.

The DP has been reading too much mischief in BBI to give it ‘a legit support’, he even called for reviews but Uhuru and Raila gave called him a bluff.

He will take a low profile once the campaigns kick off to force Uhuru and Raila to hawk BBI to the less interested public.

Raila Odinga (c) with BBI secretaries Junet Mohamed and Dennis Waweru (right) [p/courtesy]
Ruto’s camp is also informed that BBI is setting stage for the rigging of the 2022 polls. He cannot vote in a process that is purely designed to shoot down his ambitions.

Boycotting the referendum will then confuse his enemies who are dying to gauge his strength, an opportunity he will deny them through a low turn-out since no one is opposing Raila’s BBI.

Having no one to oppose the BBI will have the Uhuru and Raila exposed to explain to the public how the bloated cabinet and decision to hold the referendum amid the covid-19 will benefit this broke country.

Ruto recently hosted 150 Mps and senators at his Karen residence to make known their irreducible minimums in supporting the unpopular document.

What Ruto is doing is not any different from what Raila did when boycotted repeat presidential polls in 2017.

Raila’s baby cry was that the same IEBC that he wants to pass BBI now was against reforms then and that Jubilee had also changed election laws days to election.

But Ruto is also well aware that the dynasty members will unleash state machinery to force the document through.

He avoided a gruesome contest to focus on 2022 when he is most likely to face a betrayed, stressed and heartbroken Odinga in the polls.

This also presents a better opportunity to avoid a direct face off with Uhuru Kenyatta because he still intends to widen the inroads he has made into the president’s backyard in Mt. Kenya region.

  • Behind the scene power plays in Sonko impeachment

Behind the scene power plays in Sonko impeachment

Handshake partners President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga whose candidates flopped in the 2017 Nairobi gubernatorial race have reached a compromise to back one candidate once the impeachment of Governor Mike Sonko is complete.

The two leaders are the brains behind the impeachment of the governor whose fate is now pending at the senate which the two leaders use as a ‘slaughter house’ (Kichinjio).

If anything the canning Jubilee had hoodwinked ODM about ‘not fielding’ a candidate in Kibra by-election last year in favour of the ODM candidate Imran Okoth who carried the day.

Somehow President Uhuru Kenyatta blessed ‘Jubilee candidate’ McDonald Mariga to challenge the ODM man.

Raila who vowed to shift from Nairobi if Sonko won in 2017 has been instrumental in the impeachment of Nairobi governor as the plot was arched in his Capitol Hill office.

ODM MCAs sponsored the motion that was supported by 88 members out of 122 with only two rejecting the motion.

The meetings held at Raila’s office settled on them backing a Kikuyu candidate to over from Sonko if a by-election is held.

Raila who is desperate to become Kenya’s fifth president after four failed attempts thinks this is a smart plot to woo Kikuyu votes.

Hand shake partners jointly control the senate meaning Sonko has zero chances of survival and soon, Odinga will begin campaigning for a system or dynasty friendly governor in BBI rallies.

Senate now kicks out dirty governors allied to DP William Ruto like Kiambu’s ex-governor Ferdinand Waititu but saves dirty governors who are sycophantic to the system like Kirinyaga’s Anne Waiguru and Migori’s Okoth Obado who made peace with Raila Odinga.

Political strategies working for the handshakers are convinced that a Kikuyu-Luo joint ticket will earn the city’s top job.

The two control about 1.3 million votes in Nairobi with Kikuyu having 900,000 and Luos representing some 400,000 votes but Sonko’s possible run is still a threat because his appeal cuts across many tribes, women and the youth. He is popular.

The law is not bold and clear about an impeached governor running if a by-election is called to fill his vacancy but Jubilee will deny Sonko it’s ticket.

Schemers are aware of the lacuna and are said to be fasting and praying for Sonko to be thrown behind bars till he becomes a done political case.

Kikuyus have no strong candidate; Peter Kenneth could not even make beyond nominations in 2017 yet he is the man who wants to be next kingpin when President Uhuru Kenyatta retires in 2022.

The by-election might the real test of the new found unity between the Kikuyus and Luos whom they duped just after independence and after 2002 general elections.

The other would be candidate, is former Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, a weak politician who could not even win his parliamentary seat back.

Another possible name in the list of the touted would be Polycarp Igathe, a corporate mogul who could not last five months in politics, after he was elected as Sonko’s deputy in 2017.

Igathe resigned in January 2018 citing disagreements with Sonko who could settle as a political figure head.

Raila’s Daughter Rosemary Odinga Regains Sight

AU’s special envoy and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga’s daughter Rosemary Odinga, has revealed that she has fully regained her sight after being partially blind for two years.

Rosemary disclosed the news when she was speaking to the congregation at St Peter’s ACK church in Bondo, Siaya County during a Christmas service. She had accompanied her father.

“I felt alone and had to quickly learn to use sounds and movements of people to tell who was around me. Those were the most trying moments of my life. People would see me and think I was able to see because my eyes were ‘wide open’. I am grateful for your prayers and support during those difficult times” she said.

Rosemary Odinga was forced to shelve her political ambitions and seek specialised treatment for two aneurysms, brain tumour and stroke. She was eyeing the Kibra parliamentary seat in last year’s General Election.

Rosemary’s troubles started in 2017 at a workshop for women political aspirants in Naivasha, where she collapsed in her room which she was sharing with her two daughters. She was later airlifted to the Nairobi Hospital before being transferred to South Africa.

Twitter Activists Miguna Miguna To Return To Kenya On January 11th

Deported Canada-based Kenyan scholar and lawyer Dr Miguna Miguna, who prefers to be called, General Miguna, has announced that he will return back to his motherland on the 11th of January 2022.

The ‘I am Not Boarding’ General was deported from the country last year after a mock-swearing in of Raila Odinga as the People’s President on 30th January 2018.

Yesterday, he took to Twitter to announce that he will be landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi on January 11th Next year.

General Miguna was initially deported in February last year days after his arrest by Immigration Officers who later said that Miguna, a Kenyan by birth, was in Kenya illegally after allegedly renouncing his Kenyan citizenship while acquiring a Canadian passport.

In March 2018, General Miguna attempted to return to Kenya via JKIA. His attempts were futile as he was banished and shoved in the Fly Emirates planes after spending several hours at the JKIA-based detention facility.

In December 2018, the High Court ruled that Miguna is a Kenyan by birth and holding a Canadian passport does not deny him his birthright.

Justice Chacha Mwita, while delivering his ruling declared that the State violated Miguna Miguna’s rights by forcefully deporting him and awarded him Sh7.2 million.

Raila’s Collapsed Firm, Spectre International Sued Over Sh150 Million Unpaid Staff Salaries

AU’s special envoy Raila Odinga’s Kisumu-based firm Spectre International Limited has been slapped with a lawsuit by more than 116 former employees over unpaid dues totallying to Sh150 million dating back to the year 2017.

Even though different from East African Spectre, the liquefied petroleum gas cylinder manufacturer based in Nairobi, Spectre International Ltd is part Raila’s flagship business but has not been in operation since 2017.

Former Spectre International workers are demanding a total of Sh73,592,868 salary arrears. The lawsuit also includes failure to remit provident funds deducted from the claimants’ salaries totalling to Sh31,238,187.

Through their lawyer Moses Omondi, the workers state that Raila’s firm did not remit Sacco dues deducted from their salaries at Sh11,474,727 as well as severance pay after computation of the same and agreement of pay. They claim that the company also owes them Sh35,669,847 being total redundancy pay for all the claimants.

“Despite demand and notice to sue being issued to the respondent, the company has refused to pay claimants their dues,” said Mr Omondi.

“We took time and spoke with the management numerous times and the Ministry of Labour but nothing was done. We hope the courts will come to our rescue. We are suffering. Some have been evicted from their houses because they can no longer afford rent,” Dancun Abonyo who spoke on behalf of the former employees said

Justice Nduma Nderi of Employment and Labor Relations Court in Kisumu said the case will be mentioned on March 2nd next year.

Musalia’s ANC Party Suspends Cleophas Malala For Supporting Raila And ODM

Amani National Congress Party under the leadership of Musalia Mudavadi has slapped Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala with a Suspension letter after the vocal Senator was seen in a rally supporting Raila Odinga’s ODM candidate—Kibra MP-elect— Imran Okoth.

Musalia’s Party which had also fielded ex-Raila advisor Eliud Owalo who was the second runners up after Ruto’s candidate McDonald Mariga has released a press statement announcing the suspension.

The outsmarted ANC founder Musalia Mudavadi, who’s political strategy and agenda remains unknown to even his close allies has been having it rough with the Kakamega Senator and his mate ANC nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi.

Sometimes back, for starters, I published the tussle between MaDvD, Malala and Osotsi —who alleges that he’s the original founder of ANC party and Musalia Mudavadi is just an incomer after his UDF( United Democratic Front) party terribly flopped— just like his Political agenda.

Musalia Mudavadi has declared himself the opposition Chief but all that is seen in public from him is KANU era political moves, irrelevant foreign trips that he sneaks outs to hold and baseless TV interviews with the Moi-owned Standard Media group.

The ANC Chief, who had insisted that NASA—probably one of his biggest political cause that is alleged to have been engineered by Tycoon Jimmy Wanjigi—  was not dead and his still on the steering wheel. But my searches reveal otherwise, from the official NASA Twitter, there is no single tweet or even a retweet that is promoting MaDvD- the self-proclaimed NASA founder.

Here are the latest tweets from the Coalition NASA verified account.

    Image result for malala cleophas"

Raila Odinga’s followers have also been rubbishing ANC leaders claims that he runs coalition NASA, according to them, Musalia just like William Ruto, he’s always busy blaming Raila and ODM in not only issues concerning the State but also the in-fights that have mired his Party ANC.

Image result for malala cleophas kibra"

So is Musalia Mudavadi and his ANC party serious? Honestly, no one knows—looks like even MaDvD himself doesn’t. The Party has said a couple of times that they have suspended Godfrey Osotsi from the post of Secretary-General then, they go ahead and accuse the same person they have suspended of interfering with Party affairs. Is Malala’s suspension going to stand or it’s just another kick from the already dying horse?

But is Raila Odinga wrong or wrong? I’m of the perspective that Raila Junior is lost in between being an organized senior citizen and a ‘low’ abiding youth. Kenyans have been forced to understand that things don’t happen in any particular order in this country. Majority of Netizens are also reacting negatively because they can’t relate to what is supposed to happen or is happening in a orderly society, Lavington can be the case study.

  • New List Of Raila’s Trusted Lieutenants As He Drops Traditional Allies

New List Of Raila’s Trusted Lieutenants As He Drops Traditional Allies

Even though not yet officially announced, Raila’s name will be on the ballot paper in the 2022 polls. The recent reshuffle of who the AU’s special envoy intends to keep beside him are also in line with his political truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The former Premier through an ODM internal taskforce led by Catherine Mumma is rebuilding the once biggest political party in Kenya by shaking off chaos filled primaries that has been the main reason as to why ODM was losing seats in past polls.

Raila is also shaping his Western and Nyanza bloc inner circle after falling short of soldiers who were politically swayed and bought out from his buddies by Jubilee party some directly while others influenced through affiliate parties.

When the former Gem MP, the mouthy Jakoyo Midiwo and former Chief of staff in the Grand Coalition government Caroli Omondi ditched RAO, whose impact in Nyanza has been felt and seen, the AU envoy is now refilling the cuts.

Also, Raila’s fallout with the former ODM vocal secretary-general Ababu Namwamba, and former vice-chairman Paul Otuoma dented his Western tight-circle.

In Nyanza, Raila is replacing Midowo and Caroli with current vocal insiders, ODM Chairman John Mbadi, and the Director of elections Junet Mohammed. The two are also leading  ODM’s campaign to repossess the Kibra Constituency seat.

Kisumu Governor and a political scientist Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o, Raila’s sister and former deputy governor Ruth Odinga, Nyando MP Jared Okello and Seme legislator James Nyikal have also been lined up in Raila’s team.

Dr Nyikal Okello, who has a vast international  connection, the chairman of the Luo Parliamentary Group, is also in Raila’s kitchen cabinet as the Secretary of Public Policy and Economic Affairs.

Raila also has former minister and now senators Sam Ongeri and the former Attorney General Amos Wako as part of his team Nyanza.

Confirming this yesterday was ODM Chair and Suba MP John Mbadi who said this reshuffles are a normal political strategy in every formidable team.

“I can tell you that we have recruited new people to our team as part of our preparations. People like Senator Sam Ongeri, Amos Wako are part of our team. We also have people from Jubilee who are now working with us,” Mbadi Said.

“That new working relationship was demonstrated in how county assemblies rejected the Punguza Mizigo Bill. You could see central and Nyanza leading in rejecting the bill. I can assure you that we will have a very formidable alliance.” ODM’s Chair added.

In the Gusii bloc, Kisii Governor James Ongwae leads Raila’s team while in Southern Nyanza, Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga is a key backer.

“Junet is not only Baba’s man in southern Nyanza, he is also a national errand boy. He is a trusted emissary. He is also a good negotiator. This is why you always see him by Raila’s side in some very difficult missions, like during the March 9, 2018 handshake at Harambee House.” said an ODM insider.

In western, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, one of ODM’s two deputy party leaders, leads the team of Raila’s generals.

Raila is also outsmarting the ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi in Western Kenya by swaying Mudavadi’s own Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, Saboti MP Caleb Hamisi, and evicted ANC Secretary General and nominated MP Geoffrey Osotsi. ODM SG Edwin Sifuna and Busia Woman Rep Florence Mutua are also Raila’s key allies.

Stop reading too much into this. I believe nobody can claim to be closer to the party leader than the other.” Nyando MP Okello replied on claims that he was included in Raila’s 2022 team.

“It is too early to speak about 2022. The strategy we may have now may change before then. As a party, we will continue to strengthen our outfit.” Junet commented on the reports yesterday.

In Siaya, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, who is also the ODM director of political affairs, and East African Legislative Assembly MP Oburu Oginga are key figures in Raila’s political strategy.

Siaya Senator James Orengo, in a previous TV interview hinted to an Uhuru Raila alliance in the comming elections that is probably, going to happen after a referendum to change the system of governance.

“Raila wants to build a new generation of leaders in western while scheming for better things. He has stopped shooting straight from the hip and has succeed in calming the hitherto hot waters in the region,” says governance expert Joshua Orero.

“It is difficult to say who is his man in Nyanza and western. It is only guesswork. Raila does not want to burn bridges,”  Ochieng’ Obiero, a political commentator and strategist said.

  • Kenyans Savagely Hits Back At Miguna Over His Smear On Raila’s Family

Kenyans Savagely Hits Back At Miguna Over His Smear On Raila’s Family

Self declared General Miguna Miguna yester evening  breathed fire, this like most of the time, through his official Twitter account. Former senior personal advisor to the former premier Raila Odinga, General Miguna has claimed that the late Fidel, Winnie And Junior Odinga are not Raila’s biological children.

Miguna, who was ejected from Kenya after  swearing in Raila Odinga as the people’s president on the 30th Of January 2018, was responding to media reports of Raila’s family inheritance tussle.

According to Mama Ida, Lwam Bekele, the widow to Fidel, masterminded the death of his son. In statements to detectives captured in court documents, Ida says Lwam was behind the mysterious demise of Fidel, their firstborn who Miguna Miguna now claims otherwise, in January 2015.

Raila’s family became apprehensive when Lwam was granted the letter of administration of the Fidel Castro Odhiambo Odinga’s estate, which is speculated to be worth billions.

This prompted Ida and her daughter, Winnie, to file an objection to that, arguing that Lwam is a suspect in the death. They claim she vanished soon after Fidel was buried and investigations into the death were launched, then cut off communications.

Ida Odinga and her last born daughter, Winnie. The two have filed a case against the widow of Fidel Odinga.

On her defense on the case, Lwam, states that Ida has been making false and unkind remarks about her in connection to the sudden death of her husband.

However, Raila Odinga still enjoys the fact that he’s a political darling to many he didn’t have to bother and reply to Miguna Miguna. Kenyans on Twitter, who are loyal fans of RAO and others elected ODM leaders took to their accounts and savagely threw The Kenyan  Revolutionary Federation General in RAO’s ‘boiler’.

  • Handshake’s BBI Report To Be Tabled Before Mashujaa Day

Handshake’s BBI Report To Be Tabled Before Mashujaa Day

A detailed report from the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) members that have since officially sought an appointment with President Uhuru Kenyatta and AU Representative for Infrastructure and development Raila Odinga to hand in the official final report before 20th of October.

    Image result for bbi kenya

According to sources close to the team, other than proposing a shift to the parliamentary system of government, the BBI team suggests that some counties be merged in what may attract resistance like what has befallen the Punguza Mizigo by Ekuru Aukot’s Thirdway Alliance that has seen at least 14 county assemblies thwack it on the grounds it seeks to reduce the number of elected representatives.

Mr Yusuf Haji, the BBI task force chairman, said they were working to complete the task ahead of the October 23 deadline and are now waiting for the president’s word on when to submit the report.

“The secretariat completed all the editorial work on Friday and we are good to go. The team is proud of what it has accomplished and we hope that the report will help the President and the former Prime Minister (Raila Odinga) achieve the vision they have for the country,” said Mr Haji.

Harambee House, where the March 9, 2018 handshake was affixed is the preferred venue for the handover ceremony as BBI team remains hopeful that both President Kenyatta and Mr Odinga will be present to receive it.

However, the Chair had this to say about the handover ceremony that is yet to be dated. “Announcing the venue would expose us to infiltration,” Mr Haji said.

The team was mandated to tackle nine agenda, including how to end ethnic antagonism, lack of a national ethos, how to foster inclusivity, strengthening devolution and curing divisive elections. The report has also highlighted on enhancing safety and security, eradicating the runaway corruption in government, enabling shared prosperity and entrenching rights and responsibilities.

Last week, High Court Judge Weldon Korir dismissed a petition filed by Moraa Gesicho on the basis that she had not demonstrated how she would suffer prejudice were the report to be submitted to the President. The petitioner contended that the team was not constitutionally established.

Mr Paul Mwangi, one of the BBI co-secretaries, said the final document is a product of extensive public participation and consultations that saw them go to all the 47 counties, 210 constituencies and 1,500 civic wards in town-hall meetings.

“We engaged with a total of 82 national institutions and persons, including Speakers of the bicameral Parliament, the Chief Justice, all constitutional commissions and independent offices. This is a rich document that captures the views and aspirations of the people on what ails the country with the remedial measures,” Mr Mwangi said.

While both Mr Haji and Mr Mwangi avoided talking about the contents of the document, there have been reliable leaks from within the team that they chose not to recommend a referendum as a way of changing the Constitution to re-introduce the position of a powerful prime minister, among other landmark changes to a New Constitution that was promulgated in August 2010.

Raila Odinga, Uhuru’s close buddy right now has previously stated that the country would likely have a referendum to alter the executive structure to eliminate ethnicisation of state power while Deputy President William Ruto remains the main opposer to a referendum citing that its a plan to create more seats for greedy wealthy individuals and has no intention of helping Kenyans.

After a year and a half, it will be a total waste of time if indeed the report that will soon be tabled to have the very same contents of the leaks we have seen so far.  It will be a waste of public funds too to spend cash for a year plus on things that can be settled by a simple task team in a few weeks. I might be wrong or right, but this remains my opinion. BBI was a political initiative that is already biased from the start, though unreleased, the report has to be, rather is already partisan or let’s say, supposed to be pro handshake.

On July 31st this year, the DCI, through the officer in charge of Kenya Revenue Authority, issued a signal to all police stations in the country to impound the cars.

“A list of the attached vehicles are circulated in order to have them traced and detailed. The motor vehicles are suspected of having been fraudulently registered and they’re therefore unaccustomed since taxes in their regard have not been paid,” Peter Kiboro, the DCI KRA unit said.

KRA has intensified the crackdown on tax evaders who include businessmen, governors, and firms that were initially considered untouchable.

Last month, KRA Commissioner General James Mburu vowed to intensify a crackdown on tax cheats saying no one is being targeted as an individual.

“Kenyans should reject the narrative that KRA is fighting any individual or business. On the contrary, KRA has the additional responsibility of trade facilitation under which we support a business environment that is conducive for the growth of business, which further results in increased taxes. All we desire is that all eligible taxpayers make every effort to pay their rightful share of taxes. We must all contribute in an equitable manner to the development of our country.” KRA Boss Mburu said.

  • Exposed Part Two: Raila Odinga’s Pointman And Uriri MP Eng Mark Ogolla Caught Up In Pro Gas Fraud Scheme Via His Horizon Media Investments Limited

Exposed Part Two: Raila Odinga’s Pointman And Uriri MP Eng Mark Ogolla Caught Up In Pro Gas Fraud Scheme Via His Horizon Media Investments Limited

Last month, Eng. Raila Amollo Odinga, the Opposition leader, and self-declared public defender number one lamented that the level of youth unemployment in Kenya is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. Speaking during the International Youth week celebrations at the United Nations habitat, Gigiri, the former premier called on employers to work with institutions to match students’ skills so that they are employable.

While many unemployed Kenyans have finally ventured into other sources of earning income after their efforts of trying to get formal and informal jobs turned futile, Online niche has created a massive umbrella that has covered the current government unmanageable unemployment rate that has constantly hit Kenyans and especially the Youth since independence.

According to a survey by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) in 2018, 7million Kenyans were unemployed with 1.4 million out of this figure desperately looking for jobs. And many youths who have borrowed loans and government grants have never ever seen a payslip since the day they left higher learning institutions that, apparently in Kenyan set up, is a key pillar in enlightening youths and shaping them for “many employment opportunities” available outside here.

“I have never been employed since I completed my degree course in Linguistics Media and Communication from Moi University main campus in Eldoret. I have attended very many interviews with no success and I’m afraid my career path is on an attachment and internship trail after undertaking a lot of internship programs,” One of my case study Ms. Nyaera told me.

Even as Raila Odinga, who is also the African Union High Representative For Infrastructure Development say that unemployment rate in Youths is a time bomb. His close circle consists of folks who have invested in heavily and extensively in looting, robing and blowing the youths hopes of getting employment and financial stability.

In a recent article by this site, a very close political and business buddy to Raila Odinga, who is the Uriri MP and Managing Director of Horizon Media Investments Limited Eng Mark Ogolla Nyamita colluded with Pro Gas and defrauded thousands of unemployed and unsuspecting Kenyans on social media.

    Image result for raila jaffer

Pro Gas which is owned by a controversial Mombasa Tycoon Jaffer Mohammed, who is also Raila Odinga’s ally and business partner with Mombasa governor Hassan Joho. Jaffer is also a business crony of DP Dr. William Ruto, another Kenya’s controversial businessman. Pro Gas and Horizon media have been alleged to be the masterminds behind the collapse of a government-subsidized gas project.

So, who is this Eng Mark Ogolla, Born in Rapogi village in the larger Uririi area in Migori County. The son of a fisherman and an omena seller outsmarted his poverty background and went ahead and conquered the tough like. He graduated from Jomo Kenya University of Agriculture and Technology with a Bachelor of Science Degree (civil engineering) and a holder of masters in entrepreneurship from Strathmore School of Business.

After Strathmore,  Mark Ogolla was hired by Standard Chartered as a sales representative who represented well the bank in Banking competitions and successfully made Standard Chartered Bank emerge winner as the best chartered Bank in sales and marketing. As the results of the hard work, Standard Chartered awarded him, rather promoted him to the position of a Sales Manager. That’s when Mark Ogolla started high-end deep-rooted cartel con deals.

Before that, Engineer had other businesses and formal jobs in tech firms that are off the record since he was mainly employed without contracts and left the jobs in bad faith. One of our sources states that Mark has been allegedly looting in every gig he has been offered something that has kept him in and out of many casual and official jobs.

Eng Mark Ogolla has also worked as a telecommunication director and technician in technology industries. He has deep rooting connections in the Kenyan telecommunication industry and has worked as head of Corporate sales at Celtel which was bought out by the Indian owner Bharti Airtel which runs its business right now as Airtel Kenya.

During his tenure at Airtel, Mark Ogolla was accused by his juniours of mistreatment and sexual harassment, that Kenya insights treat as unverified allegations. His former colleague was also quoted by another independent blog saying that Mr. Mark Nyamita used his powers as The sales Officer to sell phones that were meant to be distributed to customers.

The customer phones scandal unearthed another massive scandal at Celtel, current Airtel Kenya, that saw Ksh 30million disappear under his watch. A scandal that saw his Sales Manager contract at the telco terminated with immediate effect without compensation after being fired from the firm.

Politically, Mark Ogolla or as many of his close political allies will call him Nyamita, used the connection links that he got when he was given the tender to run a social media campaign of Pro Gas. The founder and CEO of Proto Energy Limited, formerly known as My Gas, a company that had allegedly been linked to Alfred Mutua is a close friend to Eng. Nyamita.

Mark made his name known deeper in the political circle when he openly dismissed calls by WIPER and ANC leaders pushing for Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi respectively to be presidential candidates in 2022. The Uriri legislature Nyamita said that the calls are premature insisting that NASA remains united and their immediate task is to swear in Raila Odinga.

When Pro Gas was first unveiled, rumors spread fast and became almost believable that the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) company with its almost girlish pink cylinders has made its intent clear in the Kenyan market and threatened VIVO energy and Kobil Kenya as many customers embrace it due to its affordability.Image result for mark ogola celtel

Pro-Gas is owned by Kameel Virjee. And has connections that link its supplies to Jaffer Mohammed and Kenya’s number one LPG dealer, former premier Raila Amolo Odinga. The company started operations in Kenya in 2017 and has gone to establish itself as a market leader.

According to a post appearing on this site, Horizon Media Management Limited firm was contracted by Proto Energy Limited to carry out Pro-Gas marketing campaigns and the firm owned by the MP and Raila’s pointman Eng Mark Ogolla is accused of pocketing money that was meant for promotions late last year. The agreement was that participants with the highest likes in Pro Gas social media pages would be automatically awarded cash prizes and complete gas cylinders. The winners have never been awarded months later.

If indeed Raila Odinga is and meant what he said at Gigiri about youths suffering due to unemployment, Why is he sitting on this case despite several complaints from youths were directly conned by his friend and party member? Raila’s family has deep links in LPG in this country and he can’t say that he has never heard nor informed about this matter! Raila’s silence about the matter makes him look like an accomplice, if he doesn’t speak out on this issue, then the Kenyan youths that were conned and many of those whose dreams were shuttered by Horizon Media that Eng Nyamita owns should blame him because he sits at the higher authority that can easily solve their grievances.

And to Kenya’s first team on antigraft and public defender from the state DCI, should also on their part not sleep on this case.  This case has never been settled and one wonders why are the most active state departments quite on all this issue? Who is this Eng Mark Nyamita that has made DCI his clowns and is controlling how they should handle the case?

If the Rapogi villager and legislature Mark Ogolla Nyamita can successfully double-cross and defraud unsuspecting youths across the country, what can he do to the Migori residents, and specifically what has he done already to the Uriri folks and area which is predominantly occupied by Luos with a significant population of the Kuria, Luhya, Kisii, and Somali?

What is the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution doing about this Pro Gas heist and scam that saw thousands of youths swindled by a civil servant? The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is the National Prosecuting Authority in Kenya which has been mandated by the Constitution to prosecute all criminal cases in the country.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji is the head of the ODPP and operates independently as stipulated under Article 157 of the Constitution. What is his office doing yet this is a massive criminal case that has, in fact, affected thousands across the country?

Communication Authority also is failing Kenyan youths. This is one of the Parastatals that should be, rather should have already launched investigations into this scam that happened online and the accused rather responsible company, Horizon Media limited should be blacklisted if found guilty to have indulged in fraud. This is a past case however it leaves footprints of fraud on the company and so is the owner- MP Mark Nyamita Ogolla.

I mean, Raila cannot be making a lot of noise on and offline that he is more concerned about the development of youths and their gruesome burden of unemployment. It pains not only me but also every youth in this country that is struggling to get few coins to feed themselves only to benefit couple greedy, selfish and con individuals and in this case, elected leaders and known businessmen.

With my little remaining respect as I jot this article down, What does Hon. Eng Raila Odinga who’s also, of course, everyone should know that is in gas business have to say about this and what message does the former Prime Minister send about the war on corruption?

I can’t stand leaders who chest thumb in public making a lot of noise yet beneath are openly engaging in fraudulent activities. If Eng Raila Amollo Odinga has a shred of tenderness and a soft spot on youths affairs in this country, he should, in my honest suggestion I know he can, personally come out to not only condemn but ensure consumers are protected from frauds like this ODM allied MP and that he should have his day in court or at least sent a legal team, which he has, to represent many affected youths…

In conclusion, globally the will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect free expression and existence should be our first objective. One more thing from me to Hon Eng. Raila Odinga, Good people don’t need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will always find a way around the laws.

  • Unbelievable: Raila Refunds Nomination Fees To All ODM Kibra Seat Aspirants

Unbelievable: Raila Refunds Nomination Fees To All ODM Kibra Seat Aspirants

Reports reaching Kenya Insights state that the ODM Party leader and AU’s High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa Raila Odinga has refunded a total of sh 2.25 million nomination fees to nine aspirants that had paid to the party.

The Orange house was not at peace with frequent visits from the aspirants who, according to our sources, were forced to admit and accept the win of the late Ken Okoth’s brother Imran Okoth even after rogue party officials bungled primaries in Kibra.

Raila handed each of the aspirants Ksh 250,000 they had paid for the party primaries following revelations of how some top party officials orchestrated doctoring of the voters’ roll. The money was handed over on Monday following a closed-door meeting with party leader Raila Odinga.

The aspirants had a chance to deliberate with the party leaders over mishaps that took place during the party primaries and the party acknowledged that there were avoidable mistakes that occurred. It is during the meeting that Raila Odinga resolved to refund the Sh2.25 million the nine had paid to the party for the primaries.

The nine aspirants were named as Peter Orero, Ben Musungu, John Otieno, Chris Odhiambo (DJ Kriss Darlin), Tony Ogola, Stephen Okello, Brian Owino, Reuben Ojijo, and Eric Obayi.

Image result for Raila odm nominations

Kisumu Woman Representative Rosa Buyu confirmed the reports of the nomination fee refunds today on a morning media talk show where she passionately defended the ODM party primaries in Kibra.

“ODM has been at the forefront, advocating for credible and fair party nominations. The ODM party has apologized to other aspirants in Kibra and has accepted to refund the KSh250,000 that they had each paid as nomination fee,” she stated.

Rasa Boyu also refuted claims that Raila Odinga was mad at what happened in Kibra and emphasized that the former premier was keen to encourage the aspirants to remain loyal to his party.

“Mr Odinga acknowledges that there were challenges in the nominations, with names missing from the voter register but those were not tailored or deliberately introduced to favour or disenfranchise any aspirant,” a statement sent to newsrooms on Monday read in part.

  • How Raila’s ODM Party Has Used, Dumbed, Isolated and Neglected Norman Magaya

How Raila’s ODM Party Has Used, Dumbed, Isolated and Neglected Norman Magaya

By Social media user Seth Odongo

Many of you may have read that Norman Magaya, the former head of NASA Coalition Secretariat, collapsed at Bomas of Kenya in August 2017 during the verification of presidential votes. Here is an article that reported the incident.

Many of you may not know, however, that Mr. Magaya has been battling a heart condition arising from that incident, sometimes spending months in the hospital, his condition improving only to deteriorate again.

Magaya served NASA at a time the opposition front needed someone with his courage, tenacity, and loyalty.

Long before the handshake, it was actors like Norman Magaya who the system singled out to torment – and torment the system did – to stop the pressure and the agitation.

The Bomas incident is well known to the people who should know, and it is generally understood that it was not natural. Magaya must have been poisoned. Or something more terrible happened there.

Right now Magaya is so weak and thin; the body wasted by whatever it is that happened to him at Bomas, the spirit stung by the disloyalty, the isolation and the neglect by the political class he dutifully served.

Raila Odinga at Nairobi Hospital where he visited Norman Magaya Photo|ODM party

Now, long before Magaya there was another case. That of Kenyatta University students whom Olive Muganda suspended/expelled after a 2013 vote stuffing scandal that students unearthed at Kenyatta University’s main campus, leading to chaos.

These students were seeking the then CORD, and specifically ODM, and particularly ODM Leader Raila Odinga, to intervene and have them return to school and complete their studies. They’d been processed quickly through university disciplinary mechanisms and punitively condemned.

I remember this case because when we pushed so hard and @silasjakakimba managed to fix an audience between these students and Mr. Odinga, he called the then ODM Executive Director Magerer Langat to follow up the issue with Prof. Mugenda.

Magerer spent weeks and months pussyfooting on the issue; and never made any contact. Of course politics never stopped and politicians moved on to other things BUT the academic lives of these students stopped.
The one who had been expelled – Oluoch Dan Owino – sued KU and though the judge, Mumbi Ngugi, found that the students had been processed arbitrarily, still left their fate at the mercy of the managers of KU, who never showed any empathy.
The other students served their years – between three to five years – and returned to complete their studies. Some never returned, with no one to pay their fees and HELB cancelling their loans. They are part of the statistics of wasted, like Karl Max Owiro before them.
The expelled student, Oluoch Dan Owino, after trying endlessly to regain admission at KU to no avail, got a Norwegian scholarship through the help of

@LempaaSuyinka and @GitobuImanyara and left for Norway.
I digress to the story of the KU students to demonstrate to you what seems to be happening to Norman Magaya.
From my conversation with several people with direct knowledge of the matter, Mr. Odinga had apparently directed that Orange House takes charge of the matter and ensures Magaya gets the support he needs.
Like Magerer Langat before him, Oduor Ong’wen is dithering on the issue, and is NOT giving the kind of leadership needed to ensure Magaya’s condition gets the attention it requires.
Oduor Ong’wen knows Comrade Norman Magaya is in bad shape. He also knows when he had the energy and the health; none was a more dependable comrade than Magaya.
Some people were saying Mr Kawino (Finance Director) is the problem, or Charles Memba (Accountant); but I reject these insinuations. If the party leader made a pronouncement on Magaya, it is the ED to effect it. If not, that matter goes to the SG, @edwinsifuna
Finally, these things can make you have so many enemies but nothing disgusts me than the betrayal. Let’s not wait to send ‘heartfelt condolences’, wallowing in pretentious shock, yet now, those who should know Magaya is suffering are acutely aware; and are doing NOTHING.
