Hamilton Crashes 2023 Ferrari At Barcelona Track

Lewis Hamilton crashed on the second day of testing a 2023 Ferrari Formula One car at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya on Wednesday.

The accident occurred when Hamilton lost control of his vehicle in the final part of the circuit, crashed into a barrier and damaged the suspension and bodywork, Sky Italy reported.

The seven-times world champion, who had a first test run with his new team at their Fiorano track last week and is still adapting to his new surroundings after leaving Mercedes, was unhurt.

F1 tightly restricts teams from testing current-specification cars, but the rules are looser for older models like the SF-23 that Hamilton drove on Wednesday in Spain. Official preseason testing for the new season’s cars starts in Bahrain on February 26 and will continue till February 28.

Hamilton, 40, will partner with Charles Leclerc at Ferrari, who have been without a driver’s title since 2007, but hope to change that in the 2025 season, which begins with the Australian Grand Prix, scheduled from March 14 to 16.

  • Chiefs To Wear Away White Jerseys In Super Bowl, Eagles Going Green

Chiefs To Wear Away White Jerseys In Super Bowl, Eagles Going Green

The Kansas City Chiefs revealed on Tuesday that they will wear their white away jerseys when they seek an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl title on Feb. 9 against the green-clad Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.

In a post on X, the Chiefs wrote “Super Bowl jerseys are set” above photos of the white shirts featuring gold trim around red numbers along with a Super Bowl logo patch in the top right corner.

The last time quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs wore their white jerseys in a Super Bowl was in February 2023 when they beat Philadelphia for their second NFL championship in four seasons.

In the Mahomes era, the Chiefs have worn their red home jerseys in three of their four Super Bowl appearances and won on two of those occasions.

The Eagles, who as the designated home team for the Super Bowl got first choice when it came to uniforms, decided to wear their signature Midnight Green jerseys, just as they did in the franchise’s four previous Super Bowl appearances.

While the Super Bowl is being held at a neutral site, the game’s designated home team rotates each year between the NFL’s two conferences.

The Chiefs are slight favorites to beat the Eagles in the Super Bowl, which starts at 6:30 p.m. ET (2330 GMT) on Feb. 9 at the home of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints.

Jake, Logan Paul Tease Brother-on-Brother Fight

Jake Paul’s next boxing match appears to be against his brother, Logan Paul.

The brothers shared nearly identical social media posts Tuesday, teasing a fight pitting the siblings against each other that will stream March 27 on Max.

“The moment you’ve waited a decade for…” the posts said, accompanied by a photo of Jake and Logan Paul staring each other down.

Both brothers started out as YouTube stars before getting involved in boxing, but Jake Paul, 28, is the more accomplished fighter of the two. He is 11-1 with seven knockouts in a series of fights that escalated from a fellow YouTuber to retired NBA player Nate Robinson to former UFC fighters Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz.

Most recently, Jake Paul defeated legend Mike Tyson via unanimous decision in an eight-round fight on Netflix that pitted two men who were born more than 30 years apart.

Logan Paul, 29, had his biggest moment in the boxing ring when he went eight rounds with undefeated ex-champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a non-scored bout in 2021. Paul lost to fellow social media influencer KSI in a 2019 match and defeated retired MMA fighter Dillon Danis in 2023 to improve to 1-1. He is also a part-time WWE wrestler.

Logan Paul also sought a one-off fight with Conor McGregor, but McGregor said this week that UFC would not grant him permission to go ahead with that exhibition bout.

‪Arsenal Keep Title Race Alive With Nervy 1-0 Win At Wolves‬

Riccardo Calafiori’s goal earned Arsenal a 1-0 win away to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday after a contest which ended with both sides down to 10 men, and the visitors keep their Premier League title hopes alive with a hard-fought victory.

Arsenal had Myles Lewis-Skelly controversially sent off just before the break and Wolves’ Joao Gomes received his marching orders with 20 minutes remaining and the game still scoreless.

Calafiori, a substitute at the start of the second half, struck four minutes later, and Arsenal came away from Molineux with the all-important three points.

The win keeps Arsenal second in the standings, six behind Liverpool who have played one fewer game. Arsenal move three points ahead of Nottingham Forest, while Wolves remain just above the relegation zone in 17th place on 16 points.

  • Real Madrid First Football Club To Generate 1 Billion In Euros Revenue In A Season, Deloitte says

Real Madrid First Football Club To Generate 1 Billion In Euros Revenue In A Season, Deloitte says

Real Madrid became the first soccer team to register one billion euros ($1.04 billion) in revenue in a single season in 2023-24, with the Spanish side topping the Deloitte Football Money League as the world’s highest revenue-generating club once again.

Real Madrid had overtaken Manchester City to return to the summit after they generated total revenue of 831 million euros in the 2022-23 season.

Three trophies in the 2023-24 campaign — including LaLiga and the Champions League — plus increased matchday revenue following the completion of renovation works at the Bernabeu Stadium ensured they stayed top of the list.

Deloitte said Real’s matchday revenue doubled to 248 million euros while a new sleeve sponsorship and increased merchandise sales produced commercial revenue of 482 million euros — a 19% increase.

The report also said that the top 20 revenue generating clubs in the world made a record 11.2 billion euros in the 2023-24 season thanks to record matchday, broadcast and commercial revenues.

Real’s revenue dwarfs that of even City, who remain in second place in the Money League with 838 million euros in revenue.

Although City beat their own revenue record and remain the highest revenue-generating club in the lucrative English Premier League, the gap between first and second (208 million euros) has never been bigger.

Paris St Germain (806 million euros), Manchester United (771 million) and Bayern Munich (765 million) round out the top five.

    EUROPEAN SOCCER

The need for European soccer was highlighted by Juventus’ fall from 11th to 16th after the Serie A side were excluded from European competition in 2023-24 over breaches of UEFA’s Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play rules.
    Advertisement · Scroll to continue

On the other hand, clubs like Arsenal (717 million euros), Borussia Dortmund (514 million), Newcastle United (372 million) and Aston Villa (310 million) grew revenues by playing in various European competitions.

“While commercial revenue dominates the income of the top 10 Money League clubs, broadcast income remains crucial for teams in the second half of the rankings,” Tim Bridge, lead partner in the Deloitte Sports Business Group, said.

“As competitions expand and create more broadcast and matchday opportunities, these can further increase the earning potential for clubs.”

Thanks to their commercial revenue streams, Liverpool (715 million euros), Tottenham Hotspur (615 million) and Chelsea (546 million) still managed to stay in the top 10 despite reduced broadcast income after missing out on the Champions League.

Barcelona also saw a 63 million euros fall in matchday revenue after they were forced to play at the smaller Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys while the Camp Nou was being redeveloped.

But the Spanish club remain top of the list of women’s sides for a third straight year with 17.9 million euros in revenue, a 26% increase from the 2022-23 season.

Arsenal Women (17.9 million euros) are second, followed by Chelsea (13.4 million), Manchester United (10.7 million) and Real Madrid (10.5 million).

  • Man City Sign Egyptian Forward Marmoush From Frankfurt

Man City Sign Egyptian Forward Marmoush From Frankfurt

Manchester City have signed Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt on a four-and-a-half-year contract, the Premier League club announced on Thursday.

Neither clubs revealed the finiancial details, but British media reported that the deal to sign the 25-year-old Egypt international was worth around 70 million euros ($72.80 million) plus bonuses.

Marmoush, who becomes City third signing of the January transfer window after the arrivals of centre backs Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis, has scored 37 goals and provided 20 assists in 67 matches since joining Frankfurt from fellow German side VfL Wolfsburg in 2023.

“With Pep (Guardiola), his technical staff and the world-class facilities here, players have everything they need to become better. That was really enticing for me when I had the chance to come here,” Marmoush said in a statement.

“I cannot deny I also want to win trophies. City have been the most successful club in England for many, many years, so I know I am joining a winning environment and winning culture… I want to become a valued member of this winning team.

“I really am looking forward to getting going, meeting the other players and showing the Manchester City fans what I can do.”

Marmoush has netted 15 times in the Bundesliga this season, making him the second-highest goalscorer behind Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane.

Capped 35 times for his country, Marmoush has also had spells at Egyptian side Wadi Degla, as well as loan moves at St Pauli and VfB Stuttgart.

Reigning Premier League champions City are fifth in the table and trail leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand, by 12 points.

  • AC Milan Agree Deal To Sign Manchester City Captain Kyle Walker On Loan

AC Milan Agree Deal To Sign Manchester City Captain Kyle Walker On Loan

MANCHESTER, United Kingdom, Jan 23 – Italian club AC Milan have agreed a deal to sign Manchester City captain Kyle Walker on loan for the remainder of the season.

The agreement includes an option to buy the defender in the summer when the loan deal comes to an end.

Walker, who has made 316 appearances for City, will now travel to Italy for a medical.

The full-back last featured for City against West Ham on 4 January, after which he told manager Pep Guardiola he wanted to explore his options around a potential move abroad.

The 34-year-old prefers a move to Italy, rather than the Saudi Pro League where he was initially linked with.

AC Milan have also been linked with Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford but registration rules in Italy mean they are only able to sign one player from the UK during the current transfer window.

Walker has been part of all six Premier League title wins at City under Pep Guardiola, having joined the club from Tottenham in 2017 in a £50m deal.

The right-back, who has 93 caps for England, was named City’s joint-captain in 2023.

He was part of a five-player leadership group elected by his team-mates before the 2023-24 season.

City have made three signings so far in the January transfer window, spending about £123m.

Egypt forward Omar Marmoush joined from Bundesliga club Frankfurt for an initial fee of £59m on Thursday, following the signings of Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £30m and Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for £33.6m.

  • Mathare United Founder Bob Munro Dies At 78

Mathare United Founder Bob Munro Dies At 78

Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) founder Bob Munro is dead.

In a statement, Munro’s widow, Ingrid, said the 78-year-old passed away on Sunday evening at his residence in Westlands.

“My darling husband Bob, as he is affectionately referred to in Kenyan football circles has been in and out of the hospital for the last six months due to respiratory problems. A beloved father and grandfather, he breathed his last on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at his residence in Westlands, Nairobi,” she said.

During last year’s Jamhuri Day, Munro was feted by President William Ruto with the Elder of the Burning Spear (EBS).

Munro’s footprints across the Kenyan football landscape remain indelible — a testament to the power of sports in midwifing equality in the society.

He established MYSA in 1987 as a self-help youth group to empower young people, majorly in the slums, with skills and confidence to aim higher towards their potential and achieve their dreams.

Munro’s vision was for slum youths to leverage on sports and become role models on and off the field.

Through programmes, such as, photography and film, HIV/AIDS awareness, environmental cleanup, slum health, music and leadership training, among others, tens of thousands of slum youth have soared high into their respective callings rather than be shackled by their harsh upbringing.

Out of MYSA also came Mathare United who have been a mainstay of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League.

They won the domestic cup competition in 1998 and 2000, then known as the Moi Golden Cup, beating Eldoret KCC and AFC Leopards 2-1 on both occasions.

The slumboys then clinched their maiden league title in 2008 under former captain and domestic cup competition winner, Francis Kimanzi.

  • Lukaku Fires Napoli Six Points Clear At Atalanta, Juve Sink Milan

Lukaku Fires Napoli Six Points Clear At Atalanta, Juve Sink Milan

Romelu Lukaku fired Napoli six points clear at the top of Serie A with the decisive goal in Saturday’s thrilling 3-2 win at title rivals Atalanta, as Juventus beat AC Milan 2-0 to move into the Champions League spots.

Romelu Lukaku’s winner at Atalanta was his eighth goal of the season

Belgium striker Lukaku nodded home his eighth Napoli goal from Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa’s perfect cross in the 78th minute to give Antonio Conte’s team a statement win in Bergamo.

Matteo Politano and Scott McTominay also scored for Napoli who have 50 points and have made it clear that they are now the team to beat in this year’s title race.

Napoli are gunning for a second Scudetto in three seasons and await the response from champions and closest challengers Inter Milan — who also have a game in hand — against struggling Empoli on Sunday.

Lukaku also dealt a blow to Atalanta’s unprecedented title bid, as the provincial upstarts fell to their first defeat in Italy’s top flight since late September.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s team took the lead through Serie A’s leading scorer Mateo Retegui and looked on the way to a huge win once Ademola Lookman levelled the scores nine minutes after half-time.

But Atalanta are now seven points off the title pace in third after failing to win in four matches, with their previous three all drawn.

Atalanta also have Champions League football to contend with and face Sturm Graz and Barcelona in the next 10 days, while Napoli have no European distractions due to their disastrous title defence last season.

    – Juve sink sorry Milan –

Goals in five second-half minutes from Samuel Mbangula and Timothy Weah gave Juventus a deserved win in Turin which pushed Thiago Motta’s side up to fourth, a point ahead of Lazio who are at Verona on Sunday.

Unbeaten Juve snapped a run of three straight draws which had taken their tally of league stalemates to 13, with Saturday’s win just their eighth in 21 fixtures in Italy’s top flight.

Substitute Weah emulated his father in the 64th minute by netting in a Juventus match with Milan 25 years after Ballon d’Or-winner George Weah did the same — for Milan against Juve.

“The boys are growing, match after match, and getting to the point that they can put in a performance like the one they did tonight,” said Motta.

“That’s because they all work really hard every day… today’s win is the reward.”

Milan stay eighth and are now six points from the top four, albeit with a game in hand at Bologna which was postponed due to flooding in October and is yet to be rescheduled.

Sergio Conceicao’s team had chances to open the scoring through Tijjani Reijnders and Rafael Leao in an entertaining first half but didn’t show up for the second period of a match full of incident.

The Portuguese called Milan’s collapse after the break “unjustifiable” and said that “when there’s no desire it’s very difficult for me”.

“I’m the one that has to turn this situation around,” added Conceicao.

The away side could have easily been ahead in the 19th minute when Tijjani Reijnders met Theo Hernandez’s smart low corner with a goal-bound volley which pinballed out for a goal kick.

Bologna continued their resurgence with a straightforward 3-1 win over Monza, who remain bottom of the table after six defeats in seven matches.

Vincenzo Italiano’s side bounced back from Daniel Maldini’s fourth-minute opener for the away side with strikes from Santiago Castro, Jens Odgaard and Riccardo Orsolini, goals which moved Bologna up to sixth on 33 points, four points behind Juve.

  • Eliud Kipchoge To Make A Comeback In The London Marathon

Eliud Kipchoge To Make A Comeback In The London Marathon

Kenyan Kipchoge, a two-time Olympic marathon champion, is the record four-time winner of the men’s race in London, where he last competed in 2020.

The 40-year-old former world record holder described his mid-race drop-out at his final Olympic Games in Paris as “demoralising” but still believes he can compete for a fifth victory in London.

“Sport is full of challenges. I’m still working hard to get better, trying to inspire people and sell the power of sport,” Kipchoge said.

“I still think I can compete. I am training in a good way and competing with the youngest people.”

The 2025 London Marathon takes place on Sunday, 27 April.

London Marathon CEO Hugh Brasher said this year’s event boasts “the greatest elite field in the history of the London Marathon”.

Women’s world record holder Ruth Chepngetich, Olympic champion Sifan Hassan and silver medallist Tiger Assefa – the three fastest women in history – have been confirmed in the women’s race, which will see Eilish McColgan make her debut.

Emile Cairess will lead British interest in the men’s race, where he could have Mo Farah’s British record in his sights and will be joined by Olympic and world triathlon champion Alex Yee..

‘Kipchoge the greatest we’ve ever seen’

Kipchoge became the first athlete to run a marathon in under two hours in October 2019.

However, that time is not recognised as the official world record because it was not in open competition and he used a team of rotating pacemakers.

His official personal best stands at two hours one minute and nine seconds – the second fastest time in history.

In addition to his Olympic triumphs at both Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, Kipchoge has 11 victories across the world‘s major marathons.

That includes an unbeaten four-year streak in London in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019.

His previous appearance came during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, when he finished eighth.

That represented his sole defeat in 16 marathons across a remarkable spell of dominance between 2014 and 2022.

Asked about when he might choose to retire, Kipchoge said he would only reveal his future plans after racing in London.

Brasher described Kipchoge as “the greatest marathon runner of this or any other age.

“You could make a compelling case that his incredible stretch of dominance in marathon racing makes him the greatest athlete we have ever seen,” Brasher added.

Here To Stay! Haaland Signs New Man City Deal Until 2034

The Norwegian joined City from Dortmund in 2022 and has scored 111 goals in 126 games for the club since.

The striker’s previous deal, which reportedly included a release clause, had been due to expire in 2027.

Haaland’s new deal would see the striker remain with City until his 34th birthday should he stay at the club until its expiry in nine-and-a-half years’ time.

The length of Haaland’s deal is the longest in the Premier League, eclipsing the nine-year deal Cole Palmer signed with Chelsea last August.

“I am really happy to have signed my new contract and to be able to look forward to spending even more time at this great club,” said Haaland.

“Manchester City is a special club, full of fantastic people with amazing supporters and it’s the type of environment that helps bring the best out of everybody.

“I also want to thank [manager] Pep [Guardiola], his coaching staff, my team-mates and everyone at the club as they have all helped me so much in the past couple of years.”

Txiki Begiristain, City’s director of football, said: “The fact he [Haaland] is signed for so long demonstrates our commitment to him as a player and his love for the club.”

Former WNBA Star Joins Onlyfans, Says She Made More Money In Her First Week Than Her Entire WNBA Career

Former Los Angeles Sparks player Liz Cambage has revealed that she has made more money since launching an OnlyFans page than she did during her entire basketball career.

The four-time WNBA All-Star, who ended her professional basketball career in 2022 after mutually parting ways with the Sparks, has found significant financial success outside the sport. Cambage had signed a one-year deal worth $170,000 with the Sparks before seeking opportunities elsewhere, including playing for international teams like Maccabi Bnod Ashdod in Israel and SiChuan Yuanada in China.

However, it was her decision to join OnlyFans that marked a turning point. Within her first week on the platform, Cambage reportedly earned more than she had during her entire basketball career.

For Cambage, OnlyFans provided a platform to explore and showcase her other passions, such as modeling and creative expression. She explained, “Basketball was a part of me, but it wasn’t all of me.” Her content focuses on artistic, fashion-forward, and suggestive themes, reflecting her multifaceted personality.

Now earning over $1.5 million annually through OnlyFans, Cambage has become an advocate for athletes exploring alternative income streams. Her financial independence has allowed her to prioritize personal growth and brand building. “I’m not closing any doors, but right now, I’m focusing on building something new,” she shared.

Kyle Walker Linked With Saudi Arabia Move After Leaving Man City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed captain Kyle Walker has asked to leave the club.

Walker, 34, was not included in City’s team for their 8-0 FA Cup victory over Salford on Saturday.

Since moving to City in 2017 for £50 million from Tottenham, Walker has helped the team win 17 trophies, including six Premier League crowns and the Champions League.

After City won the treble in 2023, he was on the verge of joining Bayern Munich, but he signed a contract extension that would keep him with the team until 2026.

He joined us eight years ago, and we immediately began winning.

He has been crucial to both our club and the national team, of course.

The England international has been linked to a move to Saudi Arabia and has seen his playing time cut this season, starting only nine Premier League games.

Given the obvious waning of the England international’s influence this season, the club’s decision-makers are unlikely to oppose Walker’s request to go.

It is now simple for opposition wide players to take advantage of a player who has made his career out of being nearly invincible in one-on-one matches.

Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury has announced his retirement from boxing.

Fury last fought in December when he lost his rematch against WBA (Super), WBC and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk.

The 36-year-old Fury previously announced his retirement after beating Dillian Whyte in April 2022 but returned six months later.

The Briton has enjoyed two stints as heavyweight champion and holds a record of 34 wins, two defeats and one draw.

“Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet,” Fury said.

“I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing, it has been a blast, I’ve loved every single minute of it and I’m going to end with this; Dick Turpin wore a mask.”

The Briton shocked long-reigning world champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 to win the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring heavyweight titles.

After over two-and-a-half years out of the ring, during which he tackled mental health issues, Fury returned to action in 2018 and became a two-time champion by beating Deontay Wilder to claim the WBC belt in 2020.

French forward Kylian Mbappe put Real in front after five minutes, finishing a solo run with a shot inside the far post. However, Lamine Yamal levelled for Barcelona in the 22nd before striker Robert Lewandowski gave them the lead from the spot.

Raphinha increased the advantage with a stunning header from a Jules Kounde cross in the 39th minute and left back Alejandro Balde added a fourth for Barca deep into first-half stoppage time.

Raphinha made it 5-1 just after the break, before Barca were left with 10 men when goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was sent off for fouling Mbappe in the 56th minute. Rodrygo beat substitute keeper Inaki Pena from the resulting free kick but 10-man Barca easily saw out the win.
