Davido To Sue K24 Over Drug Trafficking Story

Nigerian musician Davido has instructed his lawyers to institute a legal action against Kenya’s K24 over a story deemed defamatory, Kenya Insights has learned.

Announcement from the singer saying he has instructed his lawyers to institute a legal action against the TV station.

K24 Digital on Monday 1, April splashed a story, ‘Nigerian musician Davido detained at JKIA after Ksh18M cocaine haul found in his private jet’ falling on the April Fool’s Day, many flagged it and ignored it as such. However, the velocity of the good article escalated as many took is as real news and was even republished in numerous blogs outside Kenya. For a better part of Monday, it was the trending story.

The initial story which has since been deleted.

It was a joke that went too far that even The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) quickly intervened to save the situation branding it ‘Fake News’

DCI canceled the report as fake news.

The report stated that Nigerian singer David Adeleke aka Davido was arrested by police on Sunday. It detailed that Davido and his seven crew members were held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) following a search on his private jet, where narcotic drugs were found.

It added that Davido and his crew were arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Police Unit at JKIA.

However, in reality, Davido left Kenya on Sunday, after a night of performance at the Raha Fest, which was held in Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi on Saturday night.

The story was later pulled down but the damage had already been done. Davido had been subjected to stereotypical attacks.

    K24 post clearing the air.

    What is April Fools’ Day?

Every year, April Fools’ Day is celebrated on April 1. While its exact origins are unclear, many historians trace April Fools’ back to 1582, the History Channel and the Library of Congress report.

That year, France changed its calendar system from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar. According to the Julian calendar, each year began on the spring equinox, which usually fell around April 1. Under the Gregorian Calendar, however, the new year started on January 1.

In France, many were unaware of the calendar change and continued to celebrate the new year during the last week of March through April 1. These people were considered the “butt of jokes and hoaxes” and were named “April fools,” according to the History Channel.

Others maintain that April Fools’ derives from the Roman festival of Hilaria, which is Latin for “joyful.” Hilaria was celebrated at the end of March by devotees of the goddess Cybele, the History Channel reports. During the festival, followers would dress up in disguises and trick townspeople.

While the fools day knows no boundaries, one rule is constant. That the jokes should not go beyond 12.00 pm.

Vanessa Mdee On Her School Life In Kenya

Just when her fans thought they knew everything about her Tanzanian singer Vanessa Mdee spills the beans about her life that not so many people knew about.

The singer, who is currently based in the US, revealed on Tik Tok that her journey to salvation began in Nakuru when she was eight years old.

At the time, she said she was a student at Greensteds International School when she decided to give her life to Christ during a prize giving day at the school alongside her brother G and sister Nancy.

“I was saved when I was about eight years old in Nakuru, Kenya at Greensteds International School. My mum came to visit me and my siblings on a Saturday and we ran up to her and told her we had been born again. She was so excited,” Vanessa said, explaining her mother’s disbelief.

The ‘Me and You’ hitmaker points out that she has given her life to Christ for a long time, contrary to people’s belief that she was saved recently.

“I’ve always given my life to Christ, it’s just that I had a relapse and wasn’t living right. I was not a good example either. Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it,” she said.

All of this is thanks to her father, who is a devout Catholic. She says that through his service in the church as an elder, he has shown her how to live a Christian life.

Vanessa has always been vocal about the challenges she has faced in her music career, saying that she has always felt a conviction and a pull not being satisfied with her life as a secular artist.

In fact, in 2023, the mother-of-two took to social media to express her frustration and unhappy life at the pinnacle of her career.

Mdee with her American husband Rotimi.

The emotional anguish led her to seek solace in faith. She is now on a salvation journey with her Nigerian-American husband, Rotimi, producing Christian-based content about their lives and the transformation they have undergone.

Some of the episodes published on her website include ‘Loving God’, ‘Obedience and Reflection’ and ‘Is Following God Boring’.

Apart from her primary school education, the bongo star also completed her tertiary education in Kenya, where she studied law at the Catholic University of East Africa (CEUA).

  • History Of Accusations Against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

History Of Accusations Against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

A string of sexual assault allegations have been made against Sean “Diddy” Combs, one of the most successful music moguls in the history of rap.

Four women, including his long-time partner Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, have filed lawsuits against the musician, accusing him of sexual and physical abuse.

Producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones filed a similar suit in February, alleging Combs abused him over a year-long period when he was living on the star’s properties and working on his music.

In a statement issued last December, Combs defended himself against what he described as “sickening allegations” made by “individuals looking for a quick payday”.

“Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged,” he said, adding he would fight to clear his name.

However, in March 2024, federal agents raided two houses owned by the star “as part of an ongoing investigation” into sex trafficking.

His lawyer called the action an “unprecedented ambush” and a “gross overuse of military-level force”, and maintained his client’s innocence.

Combs – who has also gone by the names Puffy, Puff Daddy, P Diddy, Love, and Brother Love – essentially rewrote the rules of hip-hop in the 1990s, but his career has been punctuated by controversies.

Here is a timeline of his career and the accusations made against him.

1969-89: Early life in New York

Sean John Combs was born in Harlem and raised in Mount Vernon, New York.

His mother, Janice, was a teacher’s assistant, while his father Melvin was a former member of the US Air Force who became an associate of the drug-trafficker Frank Lucas, who later inspired the Ridley Scott film American Gangster.

In 1972, Melvin was fatally shot in his car during a drug transaction after being misidentified as an informant. Combs was just two, although he didn’t learn the circumstances of his father’s death until much later.

Raised by his mother, he was a flashy kid who loved rap music and played football for the school team.

As a teenager, he danced in music videos for artists such as Diana Ross and the Fine Young Cannibals.

Taking a cue from his mother, who worked multiple jobs to support Sean and his sister Keisha, he also worked six separate newspaper delivery routes, before enrolling to study business administration at Howard University.

Early 1990s: Party plans turn into tragedy

At university, Combs gained a reputation for throwing lavish parties, some of which attracted more than a thousand guests.

After booking musicians such as Heavy D and Terry Riley to play at these gigs, he came to the attention of Uptown Records’ founder Andre Harrell, who gave him an internship in New York.

Combs eventually dropped out of university to work there full-time, guiding the early careers of artists including Mary J Blige and Jodeci.

However, tragedy struck in 1991, when Combs co-promoted a celebrity basketball game and concert at City College of New York. Nearly 5,000 people showed up to the gymnasium, which could only fit 2,730 people. In the ensuing crush, nine people died and 29 people were injured.

An inquiry by the New York Mayor’s Office cited Combs for hiring inexperienced security guards. However, the star and his lawyers maintained he was not responsible for security at the event.

“City College is something I deal with every day of my life,” the musician said in 1998. “But the things that I deal with can in no way measure up to the pain that the families deal with. I just pray for the families and pray for the children who lost their lives every day.”

No criminal charges were filed over the tragedy, but family members of the people who died sued the promoters, the college and the city, accusing them of negligence.

The case was settled for $3.8m (£3m), of which Mr. Combs paid $750,000.

While at Uptown, Combs signed a young Brooklyn rapper called Christopher Wallace – aka Biggie Smalls, or the Notorious B.I.G. – and started work on his debut album.

But his relationship with Harrell broke down and Combs was fired. He retaliated by setting up his own label, Bad Boy Records, and taking Biggie with him.

The star’s debut album, Ready To Die, was hailed as an all-time rap classic, selling millions of copies and generating the multi-platinum singles Juicy and Big Poppa.

Combs quickly expanded the Bad Boy roster, releasing hit albums by Faith Evans, Ma$e, 112 and Total.

The label’s sound was slick and polished. Its biggest singles lifted chunky samples from well-known hits. The practice was frowned upon by hip-hop purists, but it was catnip to radio programmers.

In March 1997, Biggie Smalls was gunned down in a drive-by shooting at the age of 24.

The murder has never been solved, but it has consistently been linked to the East-Coast-West-Coast rivalry that consumed rap music in the 1990s and which had previously claimed the life of Tupac Shakur.

Combs, who had been travelling in the car behind his friend, poured his grief into a song, I’ll Be Missing You, which became one of the biggest songs of 1997.

The song, based around The Police’s Every Breath You Take, also featured on Combs’ debut album, No Way Out, which sold seven million copies worldwide.

    1999: New York shooting

By this stage, Bad Boy had become one of the most important labels in rap. Aside from its own releases, artists including Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez were asking Combs to remix their songs, hoping for a dash of hip-hop credibility.

But there was trouble, too. In May 1999, Combs was arrested on suspicion of assaulting Interscope Records executive Steve Stoute, after a disagreement over a music video. He pleaded guilty to harassment and was sentenced to a one-day anger management class.

Later that year, he was charged with criminal possession of a weapon when police found two nine-millimetre guns in his car, after an argument in a club turned violent.

Combs and his then girlfriend Jennifer Lopez were both arrested. Combs was later acquitted of all charges. Lopez was not charged.

    2003: Sued by business partner

A former president of Bad Boy Entertainment sued Combs in 2003, alleging that his former business partner threatened him with a baseball bat and forced him into signing over his shares in the company.

In his lawsuit, Kirk Burrowes also says that Combs intimidated Mary J Blige into dropping him as her manager in 2001.

Combs denied the allegations, calling them “complete fantasy”.

An appeals court dismissed the case in 2006, ruling that the statute of limitations has expired.

    2005-2018: Relationship with Cassie Ventura

In 2005, 20-year-old singer Casandra Elizabeth Ventura scored a minor club hit in Germany with her debut single, Me & U.

After hearing it on a night out, Combs convinces Cassie (as she is known professionally) to join Bad Boy Records for a 10-album deal.

Her self-titled debut was released in 2008 and its futuristic, space-age R&B proved to be a hit with critics.

By that stage, Combs and Ventura were in a relationship. But in a civil lawsuit filed in December 2023, she said the mogul had used his position of power to “set the groundwork” for a “manipulative and coercive romantic and sexual relationship”.

Her lawsuit included multiple graphic descriptions of violent abuse, alleging that Combs “regularly beat and kicked Ms Ventura, leaving black eyes, bruises, and blood”.

Ventura also alleged sexual abuse and rape, and claimed that many of these incidents were witnessed by Combs’ “tremendously loyal network” who “were not willing to do anything meaningful” to stop the violence.

Combs strenuously denied the allegations and accused Ventura of trying to extort him. They settled the case a day after it was filed in New York, with Combs’ lawyer saying the settlement was “in no way an admission of wrongdoing”.

    2007-2024: Business ventures

Music took a back seat after 2007, when Combs signed a deal with British drinks company Diageo to promote the French vodka brand, Cîroc, in the US for a 50-50 profit split.

His endorsement saw the brand placed in dozens of music videos – including Diddy’s own single “Ciroc Star” – and helped increase sales from 40,000 to 2,000,000 cases per year by 2014.

Around the same time, he co-founded the media company Revolt, whose TV channels and websites are described as “the unapologetic, authoritative voice of hip-hop culture”.

Combs’ involvement with both companies came to an end in 2023-24. He had previously sued Diageo, accusing it of neglecting his brand because of race.

2015: Arrested for fighting football coach

In 2015, Combs got into a scuffle with his son’s football coach prompted by an argument during training.

As the row escalated, Combs allegedly threatened an intern with a kettle bell. He was later arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

The charges were subsequently dropped. A representative for Combs said press accounts of the incident were “wholly inaccurate”.

    2019: Gina Huynh alleges abuse

The first allegations of abuse to surface against Combs came from his model ex-girlfriend Gina Huynh.

Although largely unreported at the time, Huynh gave an interview to YouTube personality Tasha K, where she said Combs had been physically abusive and offered her money to get an abortion during their on-off, five-year relationship.

On one occasion, she alleged that Combs had once “stomped on my stomach really hard – like, took the wind out of my breath”.

He did not respond to the accusations.

    September 2023: Musical comeback

Combs ended an eight-year musical hiatus with the release of his fifth record. Titled The Love Album: Off The Grid, it featured collaborations with The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, 21 Savage and Mary J Blige.

The release coincided with Combs being named a “Global Icon” at the MTV Awards.

In November, The Love Album earned the star his first solo nomination at the Grammys, in the best progressive R&B album category.

However, he pulled out of the ceremony as his legal troubles mounted.

November 2023: Three lawsuits in the space of one week

In the same week as Cassie filed (and settled) her lawsuit against Combs, two more women came forward with claims of abuse and assault.

In a complaint filed in Manhattan, Joi Dickerson-Neal accused the star of drugging and sexually assaulting her when she was a college student in 1991. She also claimed he recorded the attack and distributed the footage without her consent.

A third woman, Liza Gardner, also filed court papers accusing Combs of coercing her into sex in the early 1990s and then, a couple of days later, choking her so hard that she passed out.

The lawsuits all came shortly before the expiration of the New York Adult Survivors Act, which temporarily allowed people who said they were sexually abused to file claims, even after the statute of limitations had expired.

Combs denied all the allegations against him, while his spokesperson called the lawsuits a “money grab”.

“The claims involving alleged misconduct against Mr Combs from over 30 years ago and filed at the last minute are all completely denied and rejected by him,” they said in a statement.

“The New York Legislature surely did not intend or expect the Adult Survivors Act to be exploited for improper purposes. The public should be sceptical and not rush to accept these unsubstantiated allegations.”

    December 2023: Underage sex claim

A fourth woman sued in December, claiming she was “sex trafficked” and “gang raped” by Combs, former Bad Boy Records president Harve Pierre and another man in 2003, when she was 17 years old.

In court papers, the woman alleged she was given “copious amounts of drugs and alcohol” before the attack and was left in so much pain that she could barely stand or remember how she got home.

In response, Combs said he “did not do any of the awful things being alleged”, while Pierre said the “disgusting allegations” were “false and a desperate attempt for financial gain”.

The judge in the case later ruled that the woman, who filed her case anonymously, would have to use her real name if she wanted to proceed.

    December 2023: Diddy’s denial

On 6 December, Combs responded to the flurry of lawsuits with a statement on his Instagram page.

“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH,” he wrote. “For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy.

“Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.”

    February 2024: Accusations of grooming

Music producer Rodney Jones Jr, who produced nine tracks on The Love Album, sued Combs in February 2024, accusing the star of making unwanted sexual contact and forcing him to hire prostitutes and participate in sex acts with them.

In court papers filed in New York, Jones also claimed that Combs tried to “groom” him into having sex with another man, telling him it was “a normal practice in the music industry”.

Combs’ lawyer, Shawn Holley, called the producer “nothing more than a liar” and described his claims as “pure fiction” that can be discredited by “overwhelming, indisputable proof”.

    March 2024: Combs’ properties raided

Getty Images Aerial photo of home
Aerial view of raid on Sean “Diddy” Combs home in LA./Getty Images

One month later, federal agents raided two properties owned by Combs in Los Angeles and Miami. Computers and other devices were confiscated while officers searched his Californian mansion.

Combs was also stopped at an airport in Miami as he prepared to leave for the Bahamas, according to the New York Times. He is said to have handed over a number of electronic devices and was not detained.

The Department of Homeland Security said the searches formed “part of an ongoing investigation”, but it was not clear how their inquiries were related to the civil cases against Combs.

His lawyer called the raids a “witch-hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits” and said his client was innocent.

A Kenyan on Reddit has shared a mind boggling story of how he plotted to catch his cheating girlfriend after getting suspicious of her behaviors. Together with a friend, the boyfriend laid a trap and caught the cheating girlfriend right in the act.

The story has been republished as it appeared.

Kenyan Cheating Girlfriend Reddit Thread by u/TimeFuture5030

    My cheating girlfriend. Please Help

Hello guys, here’s an interesting one and I need your insights.

So lately I suspected my girlfriend was cheating. You see, I normally leave her to go for work in far places and I can take upto 2 months to return home. So recently, I came back and noticed she has these weird behaviors as if she is hiding something. I asked her but she denied vehemently. Now after gathering some small Intel with my little CID tactics, it is likely that the guy she is seeing is my close friend.

So I came up with a plan to catch them red handed, staki mtu aseme anasingiziwa. Yesterday I told her that I will not be available on Wednesday and immediately she invited that guy over and told him that I will be away. How did I know?. I linked her whatsapp on my laptop and I can follow their convo. So guys tomorrow is the day. I know their meet up will probably be at night. Personally, I am not going anywhere and this is just a plan that once they are inside, I come later, unannounced!.

Who has ever experienced this?. What did you do upon entering that house?. I am still confused on what actions I’ll take upon entering that house. I don’t want any blood shed. I only want to do something that will terrorize both of them mentally but I haven’t figured it out. Should I enter and lock the door, and then tell the man to continue sleeping with her, as I will sleep on the couch?. Or should I just give em silent treatment? I don’t want a fight which may cause unnecessary police cases when someone is injured.

N.B I am fed up with this r/ship and I don’t want to be involved with this lady ever again. Right now she’s besides me acting like everything is okay??This gender!

    PART 2

My Cheating Girlfriend 2: Developing Story

So guys, today is the day!

So today after we woke up, and as I was preparing myself for my “journey” this lady complained of a migraine and mild abdominal pains. Guess what, she’s on her menses. Mahn! Just when my plan was about to click, the periods came. I had not factored in this event and I had to go back to the drawing board. Her menses would mean that they wouldn’t meet as they had earlier agreed.

So I quickly logged in pale whatsapp and saw her reporting the unexpected phenomenon. I could sense disappointment from how the guy responded. Again, the guy was like he wants to raincheck their meet-up but now mi lady is insisting that her whole body is aching and cramps are taking a toll on her, all she needs is a full-body massage. Waah. So they agree that he will come over to give this full-body massage. Maii Lawd, I wonder if the massage will escalate to proper strokes.?

Whether I find them massaging, or reading constitution, or even watching movies they must acknowledge my presence around. Just like the messiah, I’ll go in peace. Today is the day she leaves. Only a few hours counting! Tick, Tock!

    PART 3

    A Cold Night. (0241hrs)

Time has moved so fast. 01:47 A.M I am already seated in my house. I told you guys it will be peaceful.? Right now I am typing while sipping some hot tea, you can make yours too and enjoy the read. Based on True Events. So let’s start.

Around 2 hours ago I embarked on my mission. I vowed to ensure that this lady knows that I know abt their relationship, not through text, but mambo laivuuu. By 0023 I was in this compound, normally the gate is always locked past 11pm but I got the key. Accompanied with a friend, this mission had to be completed. He was to serve as a mtu wa mkono and a witness. The entire apartment was already dead silent. So, we tiptoed to my door. From the giggles and low voices I heard inside, I could confirm that the two love birds were already inside and were enjoying this night. Ahaa! I am about to spoil their moment. I don’t want to be heard, I want to be seen.

Knock! Knock! I Knock. Then once again. They have stopped talking and it seems, they are getting ready to respond to the call. I hear her coming towards the door, she always drags her legs on the floor. “Ni nani?” she asks. I don’t respond. I Knock once again. I can now hear her boyfriend asking “Na kwani haongei..” How could he.? That son of a bitch asking as if he was in his home. I could feel my anger rising but I had to stay composed. She switches on the security lights, opens the curtains trying to steal a gaze of who might be knocking!. Surpriseee!!!! It is me.

I could see it in her eyes she’s already shocked. She closes it immediately. At this point, I don’t know what they are doing inside there but najua habari tayari ishafikia boyfriend that mwenye nyumba is at the door. I give her time because she must open this door today, besides, there is no back door. The entry is the only exit!. She finally opens the door after around 20mins. I signal my backup to wait outside there, mambo ikichemka ndo aingie.

“Ghai, beb! Kwani kumeendaje?” She is already trembling. Her voice shaking. She is in a dera. “Shit!, ghai! Sasa hata hautanihug” Her face is filled with fear. By this time I am still standing at the door. Stone-faced. I swear I really wanted to slap this gal so hard and spit on her face but i maintained my cool. She was trying to maintain her normal smile but she couldn’t hold the tears. I move forward, and get inside the house, I turn, take the padlock from her hand and I lock the door, keys still intact in my hand. No one is getting out of this house tonight. My eyes scan around the room, there is no sign of him. I walk calmly to the bathroom, nikakojoa and released some tension. I had swore I will act normal.

So I get out of the bathroom, head into the bedroom. Haha. Ninja is nowhere to be seen. All this while, she is following me, fast-paced, pretending to be concerned. “Beb, Mbona hukusema utarudi nikupikie?” She is growing frustrated because I am silent all this while. I only utter the words “Yes” or “No” because the rage I have inside will come out when I decide to utter more words. I head to the wardrobe pretending to search for some fresh clothes, he’s not there. I checked the living room while heading here and I did not see him either. This is one-bedroom house and now I am 100% sure he is hiding under the bed. I will not bother him, let him sleep there. He thinks he is brave, let him brave the cold hapo chini kwa tiles.

Huyu naye kazi ni kunifuata kila mahali na kuniuliza maswali. “Nikuwekee maji moto uoge?” “Aki, mbona sasa ukuje hii usiku yote”, “Si ungenipigia nikukujie kwa barabara” nkt, as if she always picks me up. I wish she could know I am not interested. She is really tensed and keeps on cursing “shit!, F$ck!”etc. I head to the kitchen make some hot tea and head to straight to the bedroom. I bring along a glass of cold water because this lady is already sweating and I hand it to her. She looks surprised. I think she needs it because tonight she will be sweating and crying, the water will keep her hydrated. At least I still care?. I lock the bedroom door.

Sasa right now, we are in bed. I know we are three people in this room. She knows I know we are two people. I switch off the lights!. This lady beside me is restless, she’s trying to act normal but she can’t. She starts crying once again. “Sasa unalia nini na ulikuwa na siku mzima ya kulia” I ask her. “Aki beb cramps inaniuma” Hehe! “Cramps gani na nilikuskia ukicheka” I ask her. “I was on a videocall na Kate yule Cuzo wangu nilikuambia anaenda majuu” she responds. Eei! Yaani she can still lie. Ma-liar huyu! “Na mbona unatetemeka” I inquire. “Kuna baridi akii” she says and comes closer. “Kuna baridi na unasweat, are you normal?” I interject her. “Beb, aki ni vile periods za raundii zimekuja na maubaya”. I smirk.

“Beb, si unishike tulale,” she says as she comes more closer. Right now, I know she needs me to sleep ndio afungulie boyfriend mlango. She wants to sneak him out. “Wewe lala, na uache kunisumbua” i respond. In fact, now I am not sleeping. I sit by the bed, take my laptop and start checking nothing. My response has triggered her tears, she is now crying silently blaming period pains but I know it is devil under this bed. If I could be her I could utilize my last night and sleep. This guy under this bed will have to sleep there tonight, he already saw it wise to sleep there, so I won’t bother him. I chuckle when I remember yesterday we met at a chemist akitafuta dawa za chest pains juu ya baridi. So he came to my house tonight expecting to be sleeping in the warmth of this lady and on my bed. Now see his life, he’s under. If he sleeps there until morning, he will wake up with more chest pains, or maybe he will critically ill. I know he’s asthmatic, but that is least of my worry right now.

Infact, nataka kuwatch Dexter series. I hear this Dexter guy is a psycho, but I am yet to find out tonight.??With my cup of insomnia, today I am not sleeping. To you reading this, wait for the last episode of this crazy drama. We said we are doing it slowly and peacefully. It is a movie night! Goodnight from the three of us. Cheers!

    PART 4

I have given this guy enough time to come out. Yaani hataki kutoka. Should we smoke him out?. I want to use some pepper spray ama any other suggestions? I want something that may trigger his asthma or whatever. Apparently he switched off his phone, I’ve tried calling him but haiingii. Ama ameniblock?. Nigga must be comfortable down there. Seems he got his lunch packed already. It’s time to find out. I am calling for backup so that I know if we need a body bag or something else. The lady prepared breko but i guess she’s concerned leo sitoki hii room. This ends in the next few minutes. We’re smoking him out!!! I can share his number too here tumpigie sote.

I am updating in a few.

    PART 5

Si I decide to call my backup mwenye tulikuwa naye the yesterday night. He takes around 5 minutes to arrive. It is the first time I am opening the door today. The lady has already started smelling a rat and she knows her goose is bouta get cooked. She is really curious. We hurriedly get inside the bedroom and she follows us quickly. Right now she knows that I know. “Aki, beb naskia kizunguzungu” She starts getting dramatic and drops on the floor. I turn and look at her on the floor; she wants to convince us that she has fainted. She wants to distract us but we ain’t buying into her story. Not today sis!

We must first smoke out this male version. Just like some of you suggested, we took a mopstick and started poking under the bed. “Aaii! Aaii!” Please I can explain” So he’s still alive. We keep poking, now harder. “Manze, mtaniumiza joh, tulia natoka” then he starts coughing. The guy I was with (backup) could not keep calm, grabbed one of his leg and pulled him half-out. His head still under the bed.

On the other side, this lady’s eyes were now open. She was witnessing the rapture first-hand. “Aki beb I can explain…please”, now she’s crying profusely. I notice she’s crying in a low tone, careful not to attract attention. It is her moment of embarrassment. Ladies can get dramatic, yaani we have not even completed the face-reveal of his boyfriend and she’s throwing tantrums. “Shit, baby, aki ni shetani. Beeb am sorry..” Mai lawd, how do you drag the devil in this mess. She stands and starts pacing across the floor, she’s shaking. She kneels, stands again. She falls, then rolls on the floor. It is her moment to shine, let her shine.

Back to our guy. Now, this man don’t wanna come out. It is like he’s clutching on to something. We pull, he’s coming along with the bed. We pull again. We ain’t here for games brother. I step on his knee so hard, but in a way that pleases God. “Aii, manze insert my name pole mahn, acha niwaambie kila kitu..” Already I recognize his voice. We give one last pull. Behold, Ladies and Gentlemen, this man, in shorts, and a shirt, the man who enjoyed free accommodation and even overslept has given in to pressure. He’s now exposed. Her girlfriend also looks surprised, was she expecting to see someone else.? He’s out, but does not want to lift his face, he’s engulfed in shame. My guess was right, he’s my close friend. I feel betrayed and disappointed, I thought I had overcame these feelings.

I peep under the bed and what I saw caught my eye. This man did not sleep on the floor like we all thought. He slept on that lady’s pink towel which was well spread down there (photo attached). Though small, but it was enough to give him some kind of protection from the cold floor. Buana, if I were to wait for this guy to sneeze or cough as a result of the cold floor, I would still be waiting until now. In his hand, he’s holding his inhaler. ? Yaani, this guy was just comfortable down here like this, I even now start to think, he slept, unlike me who stayed up all night. Hii lazima alipe. I just had to slap him so hard for that mistake, how dare he sleep, on a warm and heavy towel. Nkt!

    Towel under the bed

Now the confessions start. They have been doing this for like two months now, and yesternight they were planning to try it while she’s on her menses. Lawd!. What kind of fetish! After a short interrogation, it is evident, I have lost, they have won. I can’t continue but free them. I ask him where are his pants and he points to the wardrobe. “Haya, as you take your pants from that wardrobe, help her pack her clothes which are in the same closet.” “You have won yourself a brand new second-hand wife” I added. That statement alone made that gal cry so bitterly. Kwani she thought I was here for conflict resolution, I am not Koffi Annan. Jokes on her if she thought, I would diss the guy and hug her tight. I dissed them both, and sent them packing. I can’t hear more of those apologies. Hizo pole zimetosha.

Alot is going on right now that I can’t type. In a few minutes they’ll be gone. But first, they should shower together and go out clean. I hope they live happily and have big-headed children. Until now, the sound of that slap, echoes in this room, and I wish it echoes in that empty head of his forever. Bye!

    THE END!

  • Sean “Diddy” Combs Says Rapper A Victim Of Witch Hunt Following Raids In His Homes

Sean “Diddy” Combs Says Rapper A Victim Of Witch Hunt Following Raids In His Homes

A lawyer for music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs thinks the rapper is being targeted by a “witch hunt” after civil lawsuits accused him of sexual misconduct and federal authorities raided two of his properties.

On March 26, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said it had opened an investigation into hip-hop star Combs and searched his homes in the Miami area and Los Angeles. Aaron Dyer, an attorney for Combs, called the raids “a gross overuse of military-level force.”

Police raided Sean “Diddy” Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles

Local television images showed an armoured vehicle and officers carrying rifles outside Combs’ Los Angeles home. Authorities detained some people at the property with their hands bound by zip ties.

Combs cooperated with authorities, Dyer said, and neither he nor any family members have been arrested or had their travel restricted.

“This unprecedented ambush – paired with an advanced, coordinated media presence – leads to a premature rush to judgment of Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits,” Dyer added.

The Homeland Security Department has not said what it is investigating about Combs and did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Dyer’s remarks. The agency has broad jurisdiction to probe the illegal movement of people, goods, money, technology and contraband into, out of and throughout the United States, including sex trafficking.

    How it started

It all started with a civil lawsuit filed in mid-November when the R&B vocalist Cassandra Ventura accused Combs of subjecting her to physical abuse, sexual slavery and rape during a 10-year professional and romantic relationship.

The lawsuit cited violations of sex trafficking and human trafficking statutes. Ventura and Combs, who have used such monikers as P. Diddy, Puff Daddy and Diddy, settled the case under confidential terms. Representatives for Combs said at the time the settlement was “in no way an admission of wrongdoing”.

The lawsuit was one of at least four civil complaints in recent months levelling sexual assault allegations against Combs.
“There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability with any of these allegations. Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name,” Dyer said.

Combs, founder of the landmark label Bad Boy Records, is one of the most influential producers and executives in hip-hop and a hugely successful performer, as well as the impresario of his own Sean John clothing line.

  • NRG Radio Struggles To Keep Top Presenters

NRG Radio Struggles To Keep Top Presenters

NRG Radio owned by Kevin Mulei him of MO Sound is having its share of problems to keep top top talents. Two have left in a span of two days.

Media personality Rachel Muthoni Njeru popularly known as Mwalimu Rachel and DJ Xclusive have called it quits with NRG radio after a 6 year stint with the urban station.

While making her announcement, Mwalimu Rachel expressed gratitude for her six-year journey at NRG, declaring her resignation and hinting at an imminent announcement regarding her next professional endeavor.

“I have resigned from NRG radio. It has been an incredible journey of six years, and I’m grateful for the time there,” she conveyed, eagerly anticipating her forthcoming career trajectory. “I look forward to announcing my new place of work and embarking on this exciting journey.”

However, we’ve since learnt that she had secured a better deal Radio Africa Group. In an announcement made by Group Chief Operating Officer, Martin Khafafa it has been confirmed that the acclaimed radio host has accepted a position at the Westlands-based media house.

Rachel has in the past worked with other radio stations including Homeboyz Radio, Ghetto Radio and KBC.

DJ Xclusive quits from NRG Radio.

DJ Xclusive also released his statement, “after 6 years working at NRG Radio, I hereby announce my resignation from the company. I am grateful for the opportunity given to me by the management. I bid farewell to my colleagues, Management and most importantly to the fans that have tuned in everyday for the last 6 years while I was on air. As I look forward to the next step in my career, I hope and pray for new opportunities that will come my way and ask for your Support,” his statement read.

    Mwalimu Rachel Rejoins Homeboyz Radio

While she didn’t make it official yet, a post on Homeboyz Radio’s post, the presenter is set to rejoin the station that initially gave her the major boost to the industry.

According to a post by HomeBoyz Radio Mwalimu Rachel is set to join the station following her departure from NRG.

“Celebrated media personality Mwalimu Rachel joins Radio Africa Group! Welcome home,” they wrote.

Homeboyz Radio is owned by the Radio Africa Group.

    NRG Financial struggles

Once a major hit in Nairobi streets and popular with urban youths, NRG Radio which is also famed for bringing to the country international artists including rapper Rick Ross, Omarion amongst others now remains envious of its past self having lost big figures like Kamene Goro, Andrew Kibe, Oga Obina, King Kalala and others including now Mwalimu Rachel. The steady departure has been attributed to struggling revenue streams in the company.

Both Kamene and Kibe were poached by Kiss 100 from NRG at the time, a source tells Kenya Insights this was a result of poor pay, “Shida ya NRG radio ni low pay. When we visited the Station Manager, he told us he was paying both Kamene and Kibe (less than Sh.150k) each. Was shocked because the two were at their peak then . Interestingly save for him, the two were the highest paid employees there.”

“It’s obvious that Radio Africa offered a deal that NRG couldn’t match,” he added. “The problem with most of these new radio stations is land of sustainable growth, when they first come in, they splash mega cash with hopes of recuperating only to later realize the industry works differently,” said the source who’s an industry insider.

    DJ Xclusive and Mwalimu Rachel.

“The government has also tightened the noose on possible money laundering streams so we’re likely to see a good number of media outlets fall and the recent directive to only have KBC cash in on government’s ads revenue which is the core base of running any honest media house, will kill this industry.”

In the recent days, we’ve seen industry giants like Royal Media Services (RMS) struggling to keep their household names who’re steadily quoting for better deals elsewhere with Cape Media being the go to place due to better pay.

NRG Radio has in the past hit with financial difficulties that at a point threatened it’s very existence, from claims of unpaid dues to acts to suppliers, Mo Sound which is affiliate of the station owned by Mulei faced bankruptcy threats from a firm that had sued. Energy Services Limited had taken Mulei to court over nonpayment, court ordered him to pay or be declared bankrupt.

Before the station found new investors, the entire senior management at NRG that was riddled with debt and Mosound opted to leave and seek greener pastures. Some of the notable names that left the companies include Kester Shimonyo of NRG radio, Kamene Goro and Andrew Kibe of NRG radio, Duncan Msicha of NRG radio and Kavutha Mwanzia of MoSound Events.

The exit of the two key presenters who were co-hosting the same show together all at once simply exposes the underbelly of NRG Radio struggles.

  • Diddy: Rapper’s Homes Raided By Feds In Sex Trafficking Probe

Diddy: Rapper’s Homes Raided By Feds In Sex Trafficking Probe

Diddy’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami have been raided as part of an ongoing sex trafficking investigation against the rapper.

The 54-year-old is facing growing numbers of sexual harassment and rape lawsuits and was not seen as Homeland Security agents descended on his mansions on Monday (25.03.24) afternoon, footage from Fox 11 and TMZ showed.

It is not yet clear yet whether Diddy, real name Sean Combs, was the target of the investigation.

At least two men – who are believed to be the rapper’s sons Justin and King Combs – were put in handcuffs at his home in Holmby Hills, LA.

A spokesperson for Homeland Security Investigations told TMZ in a statement: “Earlier today, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New York executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and our local law enforcement partners.

“We will provide further information as it becomes available.”

The raid comes amid the mounting lawsuits recently filed against Bad Boy Records founder Diddy including allegations of assault and human trafficking – all of which have been denied by the entertainer.

In February, he was sued by former male employee Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones, who accused the rapper of sexual assault while working on his 2023 album ‘The Love Album: Off the Grid’.

The producer and videographer claimed the abuse repeatedly took place from September 2022 to November 2023 and alleged he was forced to perform inappropriate acts with sex workers at Diddy’s request – claiming he once woke up drugged and in bed with his boss.

Diddy’s attorney Shawn Holley has said “Lil Rod is nothing more than a liar” seeking to “shamelessly” win a $30 million lawsuit against his client.

In November 2023, Diddy’s singer’s ex-girlfriend Casandra Ventura, 37, known as Cassie, became the first woman to accuse Diddy of rape and abuse – with her case swiftly settled out of court the same month.

Her lawyer Douglas Wigdor told Page Six after news of Monday’s raids on Diddy’s homes broke: “We will always support law enforcement when it seeks to prosecute those that have violated the law.

“Hopefully, this is the beginning of a process that will hold Mr Combs responsible for his depraved conduct.”

    Rapper Diddy.

Cassie had claimed in her suit Diddy forced her to have sex with male prostitutes as he sat and watched.

Just weeks after he settled her case, Diddy faced another three additional lawsuits from women claiming he sexually assaulted them.

One woman alleged she was aged just 17 when Diddy allegedly gang-raped her in 2003.

A spokesperson for the rapper denied the accusations, telling Page Six some of the allegations were “fabricated” and “nothing but a money grab”.

  • Vybz Kartel’s Murder Sentence Overturned

    Vybz Kartel’s Murder Sentence Overturned

Jamaican dancehall artist Vybz Kartel’s conviction for murder has been overturned.

The 48-year-old was given a life sentence in 2014 for the killing of Clive “Lizard” Williams on the Caribbean island.

His successful appeal, heard by the Privy Council in London, argued that a juror accused of trying to bribe others should have been thrown off his trial.

Authorities in Jamaica will decide whether the case should be retried.

The musician, real name Adidja Palmer, is one of the country’s most popular artists and has collaborated with performers such as Jay-Z and Rihanna.

His 64-day trial was one of the longest in Jamaican history, and ended with Kartel being ordered to serve a minimum of 35 years in jail.

This was later reduced to 32-and-a-half years.

The trial heard that victim Clive Williams and another man, Lamar Chow, were given two unlicensed firearms belonging to Kartel for safekeeping.

When they failed to return them at an agreed time, prosecutors said, they were summoned to Kartel’s house in August 2011.

Chow told the trial they were attacked and the last thing he saw was Clive Williams – who was never seen alive again – lying motionless on the ground.

The house burned down days later and a body was never recovered.

Kartel and his co-accused Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St John had maintained their innocence since the original trial.

Their appeal hearing last month before The Privy Council, which serves as the highest court of appeal in Jamaica and other Commonwealth countries, was their last chance to reverse the verdict.

Delivering the council’s ruling, a panel of justices said that a juror accused of attempting to bribe fellow jury members was not removed.

The judge let them remain on the case and have a say in the final verdicts.

Allowing this juror to stay, the council said, was “fatal to the safety of the convictions which followed” and “an infringement of the [defendants’] fundamental right to a fair hearing”.

The men had also argued that jurors were sent to reach a verdict late in the day, putting them under “undue pressure” to do so.

They had also argued that a key piece of mobile phone evidence – a text message allegedly sent from Kartel’s phone – presented in court had been obtained in breach of guidelines.

However, the panel did not rule on these matters, finding that the allegations of bribery alone were serious enough to dismiss the guilty verdicts.

Vybz Kartel is known worldwide for hits including Clarks, Ramping Shop and Summer Time, and his success led to him launching lines of shoes, alcohol and condoms.

The singer also became the first dancehall artist to star in his own reality TV show, Teacha’s Pet.

  • Student Wins Grant To Build A Night Club In Nairobi

Student Wins Grant To Build A Night Club In Nairobi

A University of Brighton student has won a grant to build a nightclub and music studio in his native Kenya.

Jesse Mugambi graduated with a degree in architecture and is now studying for a master’s degree in sustainable design at the university’s Moulsecoomb campus.

The project, called Studio Can-V, will receive €50,000 (£39,000) from Jägermeister to help fund the venues, made from decommissioned shipping containers in Nairobi.

“Having faced challenges in pursuing my own passion for music, I’m driven by the belief that there are countless young and old people longing for opportunities to explore their musical itch,” Mr Mugambi said.

The project, developed during his time as an undergraduate at the university, will aim to create a versatile space that transitions from a daytime hub for young DJs to a club during the night.

    ‘Promotes inclusivity’

The mobile sound studio will be built by local artisans in Nairobi from repurposed shipping containers.

By using local vernacular designs to promote youth cultural identities, Mr Mugambi said he wanted to drive positive change through music, dance and connection.

“Studio Can-V promotes inclusivity by foregrounding the voices of young DJs from various communities and backgrounds, who represent the future of an equal society,” he said.

“I aspire to create those spaces where they can really explore their creativity and pursue their musical dreams without constraint.”

He added: “I’ve received massive support from friends, mentors, lecturers and professors at the University of Brighton who’ve helped shape the project’s trajectory.”

Mr Mugambi is one of two winners of Jägermeister’s Save The Night competition, which supports nightlife projects around the world.

The Studio Can-V project beat more than 300 submissions from 50 countries.

Kai Dechsling, director of global culture and experiential marketing at Mast-Jägermeister, said: “An inclusive, diverse and safe nightlife opens up unique pathways for self-expression worldwide. It is a space of freedom and creates sanctuaries.”

  • Revealed: How MCSK Shortchanged Artists In Royalty Payouts

Revealed: How MCSK Shortchanged Artists In Royalty Payouts

Three Collective Management Organisations (CMOs) in the music industry failed to pay artists more than Sh100 million in royalties last year, paying them up to a sixth of their desired royalties during the year.

Among top artists who received a raw deal in the royalties received from the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK), Kenya Association of Music Producers (KAMP) and Performers Rights Society of Kenya (PRISK), include Otile Brown, Marakwet Daughter (Millicent Jepkorir), Simon Macharia (Musaimo), gospel artist Solomon Mkubwa and the late Kikuyu artist John De Matthew.

This has been revealed by the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) in a statement on the performance of licensed CMOs in payment of royalties through the e-Citizen in 2023.

KECOBO said after meeting heads of MCSK, KAMP and PRISK, it learnt that despite the three CMOs collecting Sh249.7 million in revenues in 2023, they only paid royalties totaling Sh26 million.

“From the Information presented by the three CMOs themselves, KECOBO established that the sum of Sh249,687,212 was collected jointly from January to December 2023,” KECOBO stated.

KECOBO, however, identified that there were disparities in reporting of reported joint collections among the three CMOs, with KAMP and PRISK declaring a collection of Sh249 million, and MCSK declaring Sh139 million.

“The KECOBO Board of Directors noted that royalties were paid only from quarter one of 2023 collections. All the Societies did not set aside royalties from collections in quarters two, three and four despite the improved business environment,” the Board stated.

The law requires that CMOs should distribute 70 per cent of collections from artists’ works, which would have translated to Sh173 million last year.

“This is clearly not the case here.”

“A simple analysis of the amounts that would accrue to MCSK members were this revenue paid as the Copyright Regulations reveal that each artist could earn at least six times the amount paid during the year in royalties,” KECOBO added.

For instance, Otile Brown was paid Sh120,000 but KECOBO says the artist should have been paid Sh720,000.

Marakwet daughter, the famous artist behind Kalenjin hit ‘Mali Safi Chito’, was paid Sh108,123 but the ideal royalties should have totaled Sh640,920, KECOBO observed.

Gospel artist Reuben Kigame was not paid royalties totaling Sh612,050, and was only paid Sh122,410, while Solomon Mkubwa was paid a mere Sh74,138 out of the ideal Sh444,000.

The KECOBO statement showed that artist Rehema Lugose would have made the highest amount of Sh4.54 million during the year, but was only paid royalties totaling Sh797,092.

“From our analysis, we note that artists from some regions like the Coast, Nyanza and Central were underrepresented or left out completely. We shall demand explanations in this regard,” KECOBO stated.

    MCSK

Music Copyright Society of Kenya CEO Ezekiel Mutua has fired back at the Kenya Copyright Board over claims that there were disparities in the monies collected as royalties for 2023 by the three Collective Management Organisations.

In a statement on Wednesday shortly after KECOBO chair Joshua Kutuny invited EACC and the DCI to probe the figures, Mutua said the criteria of distribution that would allocate artistes 70 per cent of monies collected is non-existent.

He said the distribution which started on January 25, is still ongoing and will run until March 29, 2024.

“While KAMP and PRISK declared a collection of Sh249 million and they accounted for Sh61 million and Sh52.7 million, respectively, MCSK on its part declared receipts of Sh109 million representing a shortfall of Sh26 million,” Kutuny said.

He added that MCSK presented a list of members who received royalties in 2023 but on review, the Board of Directors found the information presented was scanty and at variance with details on joint collection.

But Mutua termed the move as “sideshows” saying MCSK will issue a comprehensive report on the distribution upon conclusion of the distribution exercise on March 29, 2024.

In response to Kutuny’s claims that the collection of royalties for mechanicals was poor, Mutua said the biggest revenue stream for Kenyan artists is Skiza tunes.

“KECOBO we should clean that one too,” he said.

“When MCSK administered Skiza Tunes (Ring back tunes) it once paid an individual artist over Sh20 million. Why is KECOBO focusing on the imaginary misappropriation of Sh56 million when proper payment of Skiza Tunes would change the whole scenario and make artists rich? Why the sideshows?” he asked.

  • Kenyan Lupita Nyong’o Makes History As First Black Head Of German Film Festival

Kenyan Lupita Nyong’o Makes History As First Black Head Of German Film Festival

Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o has made history by taking over as the first black head of the Berlin International Film Festival jury.

The annual film showcase event, also known as the Berlinale, is one of the five largest global film festivals.

The event has not had a black jury head in its 74-year history, organisers told AFP news agency last year.

Nyong’o will lead the jury in selecting the winning films in the two main categories, Golden and Silver Bears.

The top five international film festivals – Berlin, Cannes, Venice, Sundance and Toronto – have often faced criticism for lacking diversity on their juries.

The biggest and second-oldest of these, the Cannes festival, only had its first black jury president in 2020, when American director Spike Lee was chosen.

At the opening of the event in Germany’s capital on Thursday, Nyong’o said she was “greatly honoured” to take on the position.

She added that the diversity of the jury would enrich the jury’s process of deciding on the films to award.

“That’s the beauty of bringing people together from different backgrounds – we respond to different things,” said the actress, who won an Oscar for 12 Years A Slave in 2014.

“We have a lot of world experience and opinion and it’s gonna be interesting. It’s probably also gonna be spicy.”

When Berlinale announced Nyong’o as jury president last December, the festival’s directors, Mariëtte Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian, said Nyong’o was selected because she “embodies what we like in cinema”, through her acting versatility and ability to cater to different audiences.

The event will run until 25 February, when the jury announces the winning films in the major categories.

Three African entries are among the 20 competing for the top prize, and all tell stories from the continent.

They include Black Tea by Mauritanian-born Malian director Abderrahmane Sissako, Who Do I Belong To by Tunisian-Canadian director Meryam Joobeur and the documentary Dahomey by French-Senegalese filmmaker Mati Diop.

  • ‘At 19, She Turned Me Into An Alcoholic And Full Blown’, Elsa Majimbo Opens Up On Her Wrecked Relationship With Naomi Campbell

‘At 19, She Turned Me Into An Alcoholic And Full Blown’, Elsa Majimbo Opens Up On Her Wrecked Relationship With Naomi Campbell

Kenyan TikTok sensational Elsa Majimbo has opened up on her wrecked relationship with supermodel Naomi Campbell, in her confession, her life was almost ruined by the events of this friendship. She refutes claims that Naomi made her career saying she didn’t do much to her but at the same time acknowledges the supermodel did give her a bit of connections in Hollywood.

According to Majimbo, the incident stemmed from a seemingly pleasant encounter with Campbell in December 2020 when the supermodel visited Nairobi for leisure.

Majimbo through her TikTok page expressed her excitement at the prospect of meeting Campbell, who invited her to join her in Malindi for a vacation.

During their time together, Majimbo claimed that Campbell suggested the idea of shooting a documentary about Majimbo’s journey to America to pursue opportunities in Hollywood.

However, tensions reportedly arose when Majimbo premiered a documentary about her experiences with colorism and discrimination in Kenya without informing Campbell about the beach encounter.

Majimbo recounted a subsequent phone call from Campbell expressing outrage over not being informed about the documentary.

Despite attempts to explain herself, Majimbo claimed that Campbell became increasingly hostile, eventually cutting off communication.

Feeling ostracised in the industry, Majimbo admitted to struggling with the situation, even resorting to excessive drinking to cope with the stress.

Elsa Majimbo and Naomi Campbell in their happy days.

It wasn’t until a chance encounter with fashion icon Edward Enninful – a Ghanaian who was the first male, and the first black editor of British Vogue — that Majimbo realised the gravity of her situation and sought to rectify it.

Since then, Majimbo has made efforts to reconcile with Campbell, expressing gratitude for the opportunities Campbell initially provided her in the industry.

However, she clarified that their relationship remains strained, neither friends nor foes.

“I’m not going to speak on that but I will say that Naomi did give me a lot of credibility especially when I first came to Hollywood. She made me feel special she did a lot of things for me so I wouldn’t say she made me but she did play a big role in a lot of the things,” Majimbo said.

Adding, “We’re not friends we’re not enemies were not anything.”

In a video posted on her TikTok page, Majibo accused Naomi of back balling her and how the tattered nearly ruined her life, when things took toll on her with ruined relationship, she drowned in alcohol, “From 19 years old too. She made me an alcoholic and full blown depressed. It’s now time to heal and be happy,” she wrote on X.

“Talking about the Naomi Campbell situation was very hard and scary for me. But I don’t want to be owned by someone else and I want to acknowledge a lot of big hits and blows in my career came from another black woman and not my own incompetence.” She wrote.

On November 28, 2017, British actress Kadian Noble said during a teary-eyed press conference in Manhattan that Harvey Weinstein used Oprah Winfrey and Naomi Campbell to dupe her into thinking he would help her with her career; only to use her for sex.

    2. If you are in your 20s, and unmarried, postpone your marriage until you are at least 32. They say, that when you skip marriage in your 20s, you
have potentially avoided your first divorce. Marriage has a lot of material responsibilities and whoever tells you, “Anzia popote, mtasaidiana,’ is a

    3. I saw this quote on the Twitter handle of ‘the Kelechi+ @_igwilo and it has been my mantra since 202: “What if it does work out exactly how you imagined it or greater? Entertain that thought.” Sounds brilliant.

    4. Failure is a temporary stage in life. If you fail in business, marriage, or career, don’t let it define you. Be resilient. Bounce back. You can always go ahead to conquer.

    5. Don’t be a loser. If you lose, retain some measure of dignity to help you rise from the ashes. Success is the only acceptable form of revenge.

    6. Shower daily. Buy some nice clothes for yourself (no matter what). Buy some cologne. Smell nice. Also, use mouthwash from time to time. Visit a dentist once or twice a year. Sh 5,000-6,000 can do the clean-up if you don’t have insurance. Halitosis is an epidemic, in both men and women. That is just one mzinga and the shots you buy the girls who ditch you on a night out.

    7. Always think positively. The mind is a powerful thing. Think highly of yourself (don’t get delusional, though), tell yourself you are strong and better, even when the weight of the world is on your shoulders.

    8. Everyone is fighting their own demons. Be slow to judge or to draw conclusions.

    9. You will always have haters. But as they say, the loudest boos come from the cheapest seats.

    10. If you are young (under 32) and you make your first million now, spend it like it is the last one. Invest in the right stuff; a good house, some asset that can come in handy on rainy days. Don’t spend the cash on women or a good time. That is fleeting and you will regret it. The rule applies to older
people as well. Pesa huisha. Always invest wisely. Spend every coin like it is your last.

    11. You may end up alone in your 50s. Make sure you have some money. Life will be more bearable and tolerable that way. Playing golf is better than ajua or draughts reminiscing about old glories.

    12. If you are young, have male friends older than you, by a decade, at least. If you are 20, have good male friends in their 30s, 40s, 50s. Learn from their
    best choices and fuckups.

    13. Drink for leisure and pleasure, not to drown your pain. The car doesn’t know its way home, don’t be stupid.

    14. Don’t buy the second mzinga, if the first was enough. Never measure balls
in a bar. Drink what you can afford, bro. Life is not a competition.

    Some Notes on Women

    15. Always chase high-quality/value women. Being a high-quality woman is not about money or her academic papers. Those are secondary. High-Value woman has a high IQ, has integrity, and dignity, was raised well, is cooperative, feminine, submissive, and supportive. Add empathy. In return, she gets your maximum loyalty, because you are her soldier.

    16. As Brother Rollo Tomassi, reminds us, a woman should be a complement to your life, never the focus of it. She is a by-product of your success. Have
a higher mission, a higher purpose, and fix your frame.

    17. If you are a married man, be a leader in your family. Marriage is a conservative institution. Being a leader doesn’t mean you become some abusive and authoritarian jerk, always lording over everyone. Just make sure you are
    in charge. Women like leaders.

    18. One of life’s surest guarantees is that a woman will break and crush your heart (whether when dating, during marriage, or even after divorce). Don’t let this crush you, no matter how old you are.

    19. If she cheats on you, it is not the end of the world. Walk away and start over. Every morning remind yourself: She is not mine; it is just my turn.
Also, move on as soon as possible.

    20. Don’t ever live with the fear of being left by a woman. Eventually, she
leaves. Always let her know that she can leave anytime. The one who wants to stay will stay. Also, adopt an abundance mindset. There are so
many beautiful, wonderful, intelligent women out there. Just open your eyes. Attachment is the source of male suffering.

    21. If you lose your job, you will not be treated the same way by your wife. It is like that everywhere in the world. Hang in there and if the treatment gets
shittier, walk. You will be fine, son.

    22. Always, weigh all variables before you marry a single mother {Will share a memo on the factors to consider before marrying one}

    Final thoughts:

Each day, each year, you will receive a shock, a setback that sends you back to factory settings. It can be an illness, depression, divorce, job loss, or anything. Sometimes it is a pandemic. What it reminds you is simple: always have a backup plan.

Secondly, however dark the clouds are; however much the problems persist,
there is always a bright day ahead. But you have to have the hope, the faith that
the sun will shine again in your life.

Life is not a competition. Sometimes you are ahead. Sometimes you are behind. Just stick to your mission, believe in yourself, push yourself harder
and soon enough, shit starts to work right. Sometimes beyond your wildest expectations.

  • Universal Music To Pull Songs Off TikTok

Universal Music To Pull Songs Off TikTok

Universal Music Group is set to pull its millions of songs from TikTok after a breakdown in talks over payment.

The move would mean the social media platform would no longer have access to songs by artists including Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and Drake.

Universal accused TikTok of “bullying” and said it wanted to pay a “fraction” of the rate other social media sites do for access to its vast catalogue.

TikTok said Universal was presenting a “false narrative and rhetoric”.

Music companies earn royalty payments when their songs are played on streaming and social media platforms.

Although TikTok – which is owned by Chinese company ByteDance – has more than one billion users, it accounts for just 1% of Universal’s total revenue, the label said.

In an “open letter to the artist and songwriter community” Universal – which controls about a third of the world’s music – claimed that “ultimately TikTok is trying to build a music-based business, without paying fair value for the music”.

Universal also said that along with pushing for “appropriate compensation for our artists and songwriters” it was also concerned about “protecting human artists from the harmful effects of AI, and online safety for TikTok’s users”.

The company said it would stop licensing its content to TikTok when its contract expires on 31 January.

In response, TikTok said: “It is sad and disappointing that Universal Music Group has put their own greed above the interests of their artists and songwriters.

“Despite Universal’s false narrative and rhetoric, the fact is they have chosen to walk away from the powerful support of a platform with well over a billion users that serves as a free promotional and discovery vehicle for their talent,” it added.

This is the first time that Universal has taken the major step of removing its songs from a technology firm’s platform.

TikTok has responded to universal music group’s plan to pull all of its artists’ songs from the platform after failing to reach an agreement.

    Statement from TikTok.

It is sad and disappointing that Universal Music Group has put their own greed above the interests of their artists and songwriters.

Despite Universal’s false narrative and rhetoric, the fact is they have chosen to walk away from the powerful support of a platform with well over a billion users that serves as a free promotional and discovery vehicle for their talent.

TikTok has been able to reach ‘artist-first agreements with every other label and publisher. Clearly, Universal’s self-serving actions are not in the best interests of artists, songwriters and fans.”

  • “Go Ahead And Sue” Edgar Obare Stands By His Accusations Against Christine Lewis And Yvonne Mugure

“Go Ahead And Sue” Edgar Obare Stands By His Accusations Against Christine Lewis And Yvonne Mugure

A legal battle looms as blogger Edgar Obare take a stand and dares Christine Nyambura Muturi alias Christine Lewis and Yvonne Mugure to go ahead with their threats of suing him over a series of tweets that they say are defamatory.

On January 27, Obare accused the two of being fraudsters, “Meet Yvonne Mugure’s “Billionaire” mentor Christine Lewis, who is a convicted investor fraudster, who relocated to Kenya. She has been sanitizing her image ever since and opening businesses in Kenya #christinelewis #yvonnemugure #WestwickCollege” Obare wrote on his X account.

Obare also in his posts, accused Westwick College in Gigiri that is owned and run by Ms Christine of taking advantage of learners’ desperation for overseas jobs to fleece them.

In his posts that are still live, Obare made claims that the college wasn’t being transparent and that a number of students had lodged complaints with him to a certain alleged dishonesty the claims ranged from the college not meeting the end of the bargain of securing them nursing opportunities abroad, irregular fee increases, that the college is not yet fully accredited by the authorities but still taking students.

In rebuttal, the College management rubbished off the claims falsehood, “The institution has an open-door policy and a transparent dispute resolution plans for both students and staff and its channels for hearing and resolving any grievances within their jurisdiction are open and fully functional,” the college leadership said in a statement.

Westwick maintains that they’re a legitimate institution and that it has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with outside parties to allow facilitation, at request by its students to benefit from its network of employers locally and abroad. “As much as we wish we could, we unfortunately aren’t able to control or determine the outcomes of travel and immigration processes. We therefore regret any travel delays if any,” the statement read in part.

The institution reiterated that it is legally registered in Kenya and in the UK. The process of accreditation requires an institution to be fully operational prior to any approvals or inspection.

However, locally, the college is yet to be fully accredited by getting the Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions (TVETs) certification which they say is in the process.

    Delete or face suit

In a demand letter by her lawyer, Ms Christine refuted claims that she had been found guilty of a fraud offense in the U.S. and that she relocated back to Kenya to cleanse her image. Her lawyer said the statements were false and that she’s never been found guilty of either of the offenses.

Obare was given an ultimatum of 24 hours to pull down the posts or face a lawsuit and of which he defied.

In reply to the demands, Obade’s lawyers maintained the innocence of their client and their intention to defend himself, “Your letter alleges that our Client, through his X social media account @edgarobare, made false statements on January 26, 2024, accusing Ms. Christina Lewis of being a convicted investor fraudster who relocated to Kenya. However, it is our position that the information shared is based on factual events, specifically the default order Publicly issued by the Arizona Corporate Commission against Ms. Lewis, mandating restitution and imposing administrative penalties for investor fraud whose particulars are well within your knowledge. Please note that truth is an absolute defense in defamation.”

Obare’s lawyers also insist that he didn’t damage Ms Christine’s reputation, “While we understand the concerns raised about the potential harm to Ms. Lewis’s reputation, it is imperative to note that our client’s statements are grounded in documented and verifiable events. The accusations do not pertain to baseless claims but rather to actions undertaken by the Arizona Corporate Commission against Ms. Lewis and the complaints made as a result of Financial Fraud. A person claiming reputational damage must prove the damage itself; Your client already has too many complaints have been raised against her and on top of that there is a published finding entered against her by the authority in the USA..” The letter reads in part.

On the accusation that Obare didn’t accord Ms Christine and the college a right of reply in the light of the allegations, the lawyers said, “Your letter highlights that our client did not afford Ms. Lewis the right of reply or engage in due diligence before making the statements. However, it is essential to emphasize that the information shared is a matter of public record, and our client acted responsibly by bringing these facts/ findings to the attention of the public. Your client has never appealed against the decision of the regulatory commission and so the finding still stands. A judgment/finding is not one to be necessarily ventilated via right of reply as your client had a chance to file a response in the commission proceedings.”

The demand for an apology was also refused by Obare, “We respectfully decline the demands outlined in your letter, as we firmly believe that our client’s statements are based on truth and constitute fair comment. Our commitment to responsible journalism requires us to report accurately on matters of public interest.”

“In light of the above, our Client stands firm in their position and is not threatened by your Demand letter. We assert the right to freedom of expression and the responsible exercise of fair comment. If legal action is pursued, our client is prepared to defend their position based on the truthful nature of the statements made.” Letter reads.

Meanwhile, a gag court order has been issued and the case will be heard again on February 19, 2024, but until then the city blogger has been ordered to desist from making further allegations about Mugure, Christine, and their Westwick College.

  • The Paper Bag Man

    The Paper Bag Man

    By Silas Nyanchwani

    {Young Men Please Pay Attention}

Over the weekend, I had a beer with a distant uncle who got divorced over the December holiday.

In his very late 50s, he is retiring later this year. He carried his belongings from the marriage in a polythene bag.

After nearly three decades of marriage, all he has is an unfinished house in the village, a Japanese job of a car that knows every road (and mechanic) in Kenya. He cut a stoic figure, relieved from a marriage he should have left over a decade ago.

In the olden times, when your wife kicked you out, you would pass by a supermarket, say Uchumi, order a huge serving of humble pie, and go back to your first wife that you used to despise. And if you had any manners or grace, you would be humble and eke it out with her, having learned your lesson. Some men lacked grace or manners; even when taken back by their long-suffering wives, they stuck to their old habits.

But nowadays, when 50+ middle-class man men are dropped, he is likely to end up alone, with liabilities and kids who don’t even like that much and a wife who will not even attend his funeral. We see these things every other day but treat them as isolated incidents. Yet every adult male who has lived in a city long enough has buried or will bury one such man.

And on Sunday, I was faced with such a case.

Three ironies played out in my head.

The first one, another good uncle, tagged along. This other uncle has lived in Nairobi since 1984. Every meeting we have, he has an anecdote of a male friend who walked out of his marriage with just his clothes. Some lived to tell. For some, their marriages ending, it was effectively over for them, and they faced a quiet and (un)dignified death, ignored by ex-wives and children who were too young to understand the complexities of urban marriages. But they (the children) will learn them in their time.

The second irony is that we were with a man who was a living example of the many discussions I have had with my other uncle about men and the paper bags they use to carry their belongings out of a marriage.

The third irony is that when I was 22 or 23, on campus, I wrote a feature about “Walk-Away Husbands” in the Saturday Nation. I was young, ignorant, and foolish. But I heard a story or two about men who walk away from their marriages. But back then, either this wasn’t commonplace, or I didn’t have all the facts.

Now, older, I know this is far too common. Most men have packed their few shirts, trousers, boxers, and pairs of shoes and moved from their South B or Lang’ata aboard to a bedsitter in Kitengela or Uthiru.

My distant uncle left a mansion in Syokimau, which he admits the wife built almost entirely with her money. He said that his wife had outearned him throughout their marriage, and he wasn’t bitter in any way. He said he didn’t want to be entangled or entitled in any property wrangles, and the only thing he owned was the unfinished house in the village, his old car, and his clothes. And he walked away in peace, according to him.

Being the young one, I couldn’t ask any further questions, like the possibility of remarrying. But I appreciated his candor and his permission to write his story. He told me he was not alone. A good number of his colleagues and friends are equally senior bachelors, or in marriages, they are unwanted.

He said he couldn’t undo the past. But he believed that younger men could learn something from his experience.

Which I can sum up as follows.

    1. A woman can be part of your success plan if you succeed in life. With the exception of a few men whose success can make them foolish and abusive, a man’s success always means well for his family. This excludes frameless men who try polygamy or wreck it with a string of other women they can’t control.

However, as a man, you can’t bank on your wife’s success, especially if you remain stagnant in your career. Few women can put up with men they are more successful than. This is the case in Moscow, Manitoba, Massachusetts, Manilla, Mombasa, Melbourne, and even Tokyo. There will be academic arguments and a lot of all the beautiful English from the girl child empowerment, but the fact remains: a woman’s success is hers and her children’s. A man as a husband can only be part of it, contingent on so many other factors. There is a whole article in Yahoo Finance about how rich single women detest marriage in America. The very reasons they cite for their hatred of marriage are the reasons broke women marry rich men. But shifting goalposts is a game we can’t win against them.

    2. This puts men in an awkward situation, and young men here are where I want your attention.
If you choose marriage, you have to put in a double shift. For your family and for yourself. For every coin you invest in your family, invest as much as in yourself. Most career women do this. Some career women financially abuse their men as they cater to themselves, and down the line, when the fortunes change, the man will be labeled as lazy and unambitious. For men, don’t hate the player. Hate the game.

My distant uncle didn’t have the means, seeing as he held a not-so-big civil servant job where he got comfortable.

Like him and so many men, his wife’s fortunes drastically changed for the better, and he hung around long enough to discover how it ended.

Whether you are an angel or an arsehole, the end is the same, except that arseholes can con the woman, or they lack manners and can fight for the property they didn’t contribute a coin to buy. Good guys are always shown the good old madharau until they pack and go.
    Don’t wait for this, son.

    3. Have options, kid.

Have an extra home, if you will. Have an extra wife(I am anti-polygamy), but increasingly, I am seeing the risk of putting your eggs in one basket. I have attended funerals where it is the kids from the baby mama who eventually buried the old man. Kids of the main family sometimes only stick around if there is property to be divided. Otherwise, if you are a liability, nobody cares.
Some men argue that they have as many children out there as possible and take care of them and ball with those who will play for their team down the line. I don’t necessarily approve of this, but I see its logic.

Between 30 and 60 (and the years run so fast, son), build a life of options. Not out of fear but out of the rational justification that the outcome of most millennial marriages is grim and men can only rescue themselves by some foreknowledge. To be forewarned is to be forearmed.

    4. Keep your siblings/cousins/parents/friends closer

Some married men lose themselves in marriage. Marriage can be sweet sometimes. If you love your wife. Her chapatis and adore your kids to death. You will want to be home early. Play with the kids. Do the assignments. Take them to church.

This way, some men lose friends, lose their family, and when in their 50s, now with their wife functionally tired of his s!mping around and the kids all grown into drugs or other vices, the man suddenly realizes he has no friends, can’t rekindle the old ones and he feels trapped.

Catch a beer with friends regularly. Show up for those weddings. Funerals. Hike. Drive around. Always retain a family or lots of friends you can always have fun with, in both good and bad times.

Men, our generation, don’t have to move out with paper bags. Move to your other house by driving your good car. Move on with life.

Don’t ever be caught unprepared with the knowledge we have.

Escape this by being financially prudent, stubbornly refusing to be financially abused, working harder every day, and having a plan. For yourself. And your family. Notice that order.

Otherwise, don’t be the man who wakes up to fins. The wife has proceeded to move to Canada secretly, and you are left behind, not knowing where to start or to go.

NB: Dear men, save me from this job, buy books from me and Jacob Aliet and read these things, man.

The writer is a published author.

  • Ababu Namwamba Wins Defamation Case Against The Standard Over Incest Claims

Ababu Namwamba Wins Defamation Case Against The Standard Over Incest Claims

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has won a defamation case against The Standard Media Group, in which he sought to hold the media outlet accountable for publishing a false and malicious story that cast doubts on his moral character.

High Court Judge Dorah Chepkwony ruled in favour of Namwamba, awarding him a total of Sh9 million in damages. The lawsuit centered around an article in The Nairobian, a publication owned by The Standard, which insinuated a close relationship between Namwamba and a family member.

Namwamba filed the case jointly with his brothers John, Thomas, Peter Okochi Adochi, and Pastor John Osimbo. However, the court only granted damages to him, stating that his brothers lacked the necessary legal standing to bring the suit since they were not explicitly mentioned in the contentious publication.

In her judgment, Justice Chepkwony found that the editors of The Nairobian, a weekly newspaper under The Standard Media Group, had acted maliciously in publishing the article. She noted that the article had severely damaged the reputation of the Namwamba family by making unfounded and untrue allegations against its members, causing them mental anguish and public humiliation.

The defamatory article was published in 2018 when Namwamba held the position of Chief Administrative Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Justice Chepkwony observed that the article had not only defamed his character but also had implications for his appointment as Chief Administrative Secretary in the ministry.

Namwamba, who was in New Delhi, India, at the time of the article’s publication, learned about it from one of his aides. The widespread sharing of the article online had put his reputation at risk, especially considering his role as a senior government official in the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

In his lawsuit, Namwamba had sought Sh50 million in general damages, Sh12 million in punitive and exemplary damages, and an additional Sh5 million in aggravated damages. The court awarded him Sh5 million in general damages, Sh3 million in aggravated damages, and Sh1 million in exemplary damages.

The court’s ruling vindicates Namwamba’s assertion that the publication had harmed his reputation and character, acknowledging the unwarranted damage caused by the defamatory article.

  • Fast And Furious Star Vin Diesel Accused Of Sexual Abuse

Fast And Furious Star Vin Diesel Accused Of Sexual Abuse

Vin Diesel has been accused of sexual battery by his former assistant who claims he assaulted her in a Georgia hotel in 2010 when Fast Five was filming.

In a lawsuit, filed on Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Asta Jonasson alleges the Fast & Furious star pinned her to a wall where he groped and masturbated in front of her. The complaint names Diesel’s One Race Films, which allegedly fired Jonasson in retaliation for resisting his advances and to have the “assault covered up.”

Representatives for Diesel didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Jonasson, who signed a nondisclosure agreement preventing her from discussing anything related to Diesel, attributes the filing of her suit to legislation barring enforcement of such contracts in certain instances and a California law reviving the statute of limitations for sexual misconduct claims until 2026.

Over the past year, plaintiffs have been taking advantage of a similar law in New York, the Adult Survivor’s Act, to sue major figures in the entertainment industry, including Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jamie Foxx and Neil Portnow. Companies owned by the accused have also been named in several suits for allegedly facilitating the assaults or negligently failing to oversee their directors and employees.

The complaint alleges a violent encounter at the St. Regis Hotel in Atlanta with Diesel in September 2010.

Jonasson, whose responsibilities included organizing and accompanying Diesel to parties to ensure no photographs of him were taken, says she was asked to wait in the actor’s suite while he entertained other guests.

Once they left, the suit claims he “grabbed Ms. Jonasson’s wrists, one with each of his hands, and pulled her onto the bed.” She says she “immediately tried to escape his grasp,” at which point she left the bedroom.

According to the complaint, Jonasson was followed by Diesel, who “dropped to his knees, pushed Ms. Jonasson’s dress up toward her waist, and molested her body” after he restrained her.

The suit continues, “Vin Diesel moved to pull Ms. Jonasson’s underwear down. At that moment, Ms. Jonasson screamed, and in a panic, ran down the hallway towards the bathroom, knocking Vin Diesel to the floor.”

After he stood up, the suit alleges that the actor “pinned her to the wall with the left side of his body, and again began to grope Ms. Jonasson’s body, including her breasts.” Diesel then “pulled his penis out of his underwear” and began to masturbate, per the complaint.

“Ms Jonasson heard Vin Diesel make groaning noises, then Vin Diesel quickly released her, went into the bathroom, and turned the sink on with the bathroom door open,” the complaint reads.

Hours later, Samantha Vincent — president of One Race and Diesel’s sister — terminated her, per the complaint. She allegedly told her in a call that the company didn’t need “any extra help” despite having the job for less than two weeks.

“The message was clear. Ms. Jonasson was fired for courageously resisting Vin Diesel’s sexual assault, Vin Diesel would be protected, and his sexual assault covered up,” states the suit, which notes that she “previously received praise for her work.”

According to the complaint, another One Race supervisor propositioned her days before the alleged assault. She was allegedly summoned to his room where he took off his shirt, got into bed and said “Come here,” at which point she left.

Jonasson brings claims for sexual battery, gender-based discrimination, hostile work environment and retaliation, among others. She seeks unspecified damages for “humiliation, emotional distress and mental and physical pain.” Vanity Fair first reported the suit.

“Empowered by the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements, and with the protection of the Speak Out Act and recent revival of her claims by AB2777, Ms Jonasson is unwilling to remain silent any longer and seeks to reclaim her agency and justice for the suffering she endured at the hands of Vin Diesel and One Race,” the suit states.

Diesel does not have any projects in production, but he and One Race are attached to produce an untitled Fast and Furious movie starring Dwayne Johnson.

That film does not yet have a director nor a start date, but it is expected to be the next Fast movie to hit theatres, to be followed by Fast XI, which would star Diesel and be a swan song for his character.

He is also attached to a number of other projects, though it is unclear which will make it out of the development phase. Those include a new Riddick feature and a Mattel Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots movie from Universal.

Diesel starred as Groot in this year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and reprised his role of Dominic Toretto for Fast X.
