Kenya’s Presidency; So Close Yet Too Far For Women

I always believe and which has been practically approved and done ‘If you want to be heard, choose a woman but if you want to get things done, choose a woman’.I ain’t violating or rather becoming antagonist against Gender equality rule, No! It’s a moment of fact checking.

Gender equality campaign has been fought for and has since been prosperous. An example, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) have made sure each political have reached the boiling point of two-third gender rule during their party primaries unlike last general elections was not met.As some slogan ‘Ladies First’ applies everywhere, male gender always gets victimized as a result of discrimination, second option and not priorities. When too much of something is induced, it becomes dangerous and poisonous hence mercilessly applies to Female gender.Priorities provided for them have become poisonous, some are misusing, some are well-utilising, some aren’t utilizing at all.

My sword is not meant to bring down potential women contesting for various political positions apart from The Presidency. Our mothers who ought to have changed the game, have degraded themselves to Flower girl positions.Shame! Where is Martha Karua, Charity Ngilu? Could hatred and Jealousy amongst women themselves caused this decision, it is.Women hate each other more than they hate men, they would better vote in a man and sideline their own.

Martha Karua and Charity Ngilu one time Presidential hopeful candidates, dependable and respected Kenya’s Hillary Clintons are now misleading women, have become diminishing role models to visionary young ladies and a proof that ‘For women, it’s impossible’.They have discredited self-worthiness of women in leadership perspective.

These two pillars have on countable occasions fall on the same side of the coin in solidarity which they ought to be at all time for the sake Women leadership in this country.Women’s greatest fear in National politics was the withdrawal of ‘Unshakable’ Charity Ngilu and the mistress of intellectual tantrums Martha Karua ‘Iron Lady’ but they have been siphoned by pressure from the depth of the pockets and Ethnic Politics (Defend your own).

However much Constitution by the aid of activists is pushing to the core, gender equality rule.We should ask ourselves, are they of potential? Politics you should not consider yourself a. Woman but a leader despite the gender. Are women able to bridge the gap and transform from being a woman’ to a ‘Leader’ mentality? not unless they all want to vie for Women Representative positions. Ngilu and Karua just approved how wavy women are in National politics. This is a wake-up call to salute continuas, you better wake up and rise higher, no more turning back.Unfortunately, those in line to take over-prioritizes beauty, appearing dot.com in artificial makeup and curves to be seductive and tantalizing to men which are another concrete reason why women are jealous of each other, over Service delivery.

I am for sure this is the end both’s dream of being in the highest office of Presidency. They have rubbished the righteous path for women, let newcomers enter the game.No mean, humble words to use against these individuals. It’s betrayal.

  • Raila Fear Mongering, A Failing Campaign Strategy

Raila Fear Mongering, A Failing Campaign Strategy

The late Vice President Kijana Wamalwa once said in Kenya politically, there are two types of people; pro-Raila and anti-Raila. In his theory, the fallen Luhya kingpin alluded that politics in Kenya revolves around one man Raila, such that those who love him do so wholeheartedly and those who hate him do so with a passion.

Raila fear mongering is a campaign strategy that was started during Kibaki regime when they were cutting links with Raila and perfected during Jubilee regime where it has been consistent to date. For the 2013 campaigns, the Jubilee duo coined a campaign propaganda accusing Raila of colluding with the West to drag them for hanging in the ICC. While the truth was far from, politically, it gave Jubilee duo an upper hand, strengthening their support especially within their core ethnic bases; Kikuyu and Kalenjin. Having been poisoned with the fear mongering factor, they came out in their numbers to give Uhuru and Ruto a win.

Fast forward to 2017, the game dynamics have changed, same field and players but a different league. ICC is out of the way and therefore Jubilee had to go for a campaign agenda. For NASA and Raila, their job was done prior, banking on Jubilee’s failures from corruption to unemployment to soared cost of living. It is no task to see the much damage is on the Jubilee government.

All factors constant, it is highly probable that Jubilee will still get the majority of their votes from Central and Rift Valley as they did previously but the game has a bit of a twist. While ethnicity plays a key role in voting pattern, it shouldn’t shock if a sizeable shift is realized come August 8th. Many people have been affected and feeling it at the household levels the scorching cost of living, the unemployment bug has bit nearly every household, these serious factors could affect voting patterns and have many voting for change against traditional tribal voting.

Ruto is facing a rebellion in Rift Valley even if it couldn’t be as huge but recent researches suggest that NASA will get a good chunk of the rich R.Valley vote. There’s an untold voter apathy scare in Central according to intelligence mills that a grassroots level mobilization mechanism has been put in place to ensure more people are convinced to get out in numbers to vote. Raila fear mongering is a key mobilization element being used, residents are being warned of the impending dangers of a Raila presidency including loss of business opportunities, slavery et al. Kiambu Governorship aspirant Ferdinand Waititu, is on record warning residents against a Raila presidency saying he would force the community to walk in shorts a colonial symbolism of slavery. They are told how toxic Rao presidency would be to them.

Raila sharing a light moment with Mombasa Governor Joho at Maanzoni Lodge

Truth of the matter is Jubilee has minimal or no development manifestation to sell to their voters, the record is either underwhelming or completely pathetic. For this, they’re banking on the fear mongering to have a good turnout which if works, will give NASA a run die their money. Many are saying they’d rather stay at home then go and vote for people who instead worsen life situations. The high cost of living guys across all Kenyans regardless of political affiliation.

Jubilee has invested time and money on anti-Raila campaigns. This is running heavily on both popular social media networks and sponsored Google Search ads. Dedicated websites as ‘The Real Raila’ a creation of Cambridge Analytica is specifically tuned to paint a monster picture of Raila. There are more other websites with the same agenda. A day will barely pass without seeing an anti-Raila hashtag trending on Twitter and in fact as we speak, they’ve tripled the daily hashtags. It is business unusual.

What does this character assassination of Raila by Jubilee tells us, exposes the weakness and lack of focus? In their public rallies, Jubilee principals insist on having an issue-based political campaigns across the board as opposed to character hammering yet they at times bite their own tongues and do the exact and foot soldiers to the extreme. According to the latest IPSOS poll results, Uhuru maintains a lead of 47% with Raila second at 42% a 15% margin close in as of the previous poll. A Good 8% of voters are undecided on who they’ll vote for.

I can tell you for free that the pro-Raila will remain the same and vote him and so will pro-Uhuru, the strategists should, therefore, be only worried about the sway votes, the undecided voters. Does Jubilee, therefore, plan to win the hearts of undecided voters with maintained, toxic anti-Raila campaigns? Can’t jubilee conduct an issue based politics as they pride to be a change in traditional politicking set up? Bashing of Raila is nothing new. But let’s understand one thing that Jubilee is a cornered monkey, hanging onto anything to stay afloat including air, selling their development agenda has been a toll order with most Kenyans feeling more of inflation wrath than the so-called development projects. The portal launched has done less or failed to give them intended marks so here’s a person who’ll use any arsenal to kill.

Being a political season and inflammatory language consequences can Kenya afford a heated war tone campaign? It is ironic to call for peaceful and campaigns decorum while spewing hatred sewage with a side of your mouth. It is the time to tame loose tongues. Address issues as opposed to personalities. People want to know how jobs will be created, get better healthcare and affordable quality education, Kenyans want a reprieve from the high costs of living but not political rhetoric on personalities an escapism tactic.

I choose a side in political warfare to defend at the expense of paralysis rapidly spreading deactivating our nervous system due to spinal cord injury as a claimed Democratic Nation, I gain nothing at all but instead loose more.I decide to water-down the frolicsome and crooked men in black suits, it’s a sure bet of dragging this better placed Nation to the wild and stray dogs.

At the best interest of harmless citizens and true patriots in tattoos, indirectly manipulated low-class families. If we were at the most stable state of the economy with a well-functioning government and appreciating Opposition brigade, we would not rely on relief food and aids, nobody would strategize to be culprits of vandalizing the recently launched Standard Gauge Railway(SGR).One only thinks of such due to Unemployement, Extreme Poverty to earn a living.

Hypocrisy and Propaganda are Self-defeating. Disagree to manipulation to be laid low like an envelope a sign of being loyal to a fellow homo sapien, only be loyal to God.Political slavery by three Ethnic-based men has reduced us to the level of an ID-mindset human being brain without well functioning Ego and SuperEgo.We have cocooned ourselves repelling new adventures and have our eyes and ears both closed and blocked to boycott exposure and new political narratives.

During 2007 highly contested Presidential race which bred Post-election violence, Joseph Nyagah was among the ODM party Pentagon which consisted of NAJIB BALALA, RAILA ODINGA, WILLIAM RUTO and MUSALIA MUDAVADI.Cyrus Jirongo in 2013 worked closely with Raila Odinga since he was backing up his (Raila) Presidential bid after he hopped out of the Presidential race to battle Dr.Bonni Khalwale in Kakamega Senatorial Seat that he mercilessly lost.

However much these three Kingpins loiter around preaching how sanitized and tribeless they are, only the employed civil servants and job-seekers have tasted the humble pies of ethnic discrimination as a matter of fact. They have CD4 receptors for Nepotism and segments of Corruption.

The political game of these men is ‘Defending Dynasty Game’ which is not bad when the successors are of great potential and enigma but this is always accompanied by biases.Kenyan politics have broken the threshold, have negatively influenced Economic growth, Social growth. We are swimming in the contaminated water of politicking, slavery and now we are on diarrhoea.

If Nelson Mandela, Julius Nyerere, Kwame Nkrumah could wake up today from the grave would not be proud of Kenya and same to Jomo Kenyatta would not be quite happy with his son.

It’s sickening, shaming that after 54yrs of liberation we are still dancing the same tune.If it’s a matter of Superpower and Superiority then I won’t be surprised again if Post-election violence erupt.Of cos, this battle for Superiority in history led to COLD WAR, WORLD WAR 1 and WORLD WAR 2.

Let us get back to history considering Liberation and get a better option. We either rise together or fall together and float together or Sink together. The choice is yours, I have already done my part. • Madaraka Day Celebration In Nyeri A National Shame Crafted By Dimwits

Madaraka Day Celebration In Nyeri A National Shame Crafted By Dimwits

Hours back, Jubilee was walking shoulders high after launching the biggest infrastructural development since independence, despite integrity questions, SGR is, without a doubt, a major step forward. The launch that dominated the media headlines from Mombasa to Shanghai gave Jubilee a sense of legitimacy with high political scoring it came with.

As Kenya marked its 54th year since attaining full independence, the government through its policy of holding national holidays across the country as opposed to traditional Nairobi, took it’s way to Nyeri. Lately, national events as Madaraka have been turned into political campaign platforms and I expected nothing different, the same speeches of outlining accomplishments of the government the only difference is the template. For that reason, I didn’t see anything worthy watching the event on TV until online outburst that prompted me to watch it online. Unexpectedly yet unsurprising, opposition leader and NASA Presidential candidate Raila was invited to the function. This here was set to be an interesting day.

The event started off with a clearly biased and sycophantic prayer from a Catholic bishop who went out of line praising jubilee achievements while at the same time delivering accusatory venom on the opposition. Instead of preaching love and peace he chose to serve his own interest.

Moments later as the event was building up, the set up was slowly melting from a national event into the local community’s event. From the choice of masters of ceremony to other speakers opting to publicly address in Kikuyu language turned the whole thing ugly. While it is understandable for using local dialect to be in sync with the locals, it was ours out of order. This wasn’t any other event but a national event held in Kikuyu land. It had to happen under elements of national unity and that included usage of Kiswahili and English only. But the organizers had their own interests to serve. Many Kenyans following the event across the country were left out as the event was reduced to a community ritual passage.

Raila Odinga at the Madaraka day event in Nyeri.

That wasn’t the end of blunders, the organizers had more botch job to perform. Speakers after the other, deliberately or rather uniformly failed to recognize the presence of Raila Odinga who by stature is a national leader with a tremendous influence. Odinga was denied a chance to address the nation which was in all senses done in bad taste. It doesn’t add up that presidential protocol saw it important inviting Raila to the faction but denying him a chance to speak. This is easily read as a political calculation that was aimed at humiliating Raila and undermining his strength. It is a political season and there’s nothing wrong playing it, however, this was not any other event but a national holiday. The same way people look at Uhuru as their leader is the same as Raila with his massive following. Sidelining of Raila has perfectly boomeranged on the organizers. The event has been left with a hate and tribalistic tag.

Both the President and his Deputy followed the suit of rest when they took to the podium, completely ignoring to recognize the presence of Raila in the event and even after the end of the function, didn’t bother to shake hands as it has been ritual on such occasions. It was hard listening to the President’s speech emphasizing on peace, love, and unity the greatest pillars of our existence yet in action they were publicly displaying, hatred, discrimination and turned a national event into a community event.

If the two took the water they were preaching instead of wine, it would have been such a beautiful show of unity in a highly polarized country especially with the elections, to see both the three have cordial engagements even for the camera. The event has done more damage to cohesion than good. It wouldn’t have cost a muscle if Raila was given a second to even cough, it wouldn’t have dethroned the duo of the simply recognized the presence of Raila who represents interests of many Kenyans. But again here we have a government that has perfected the art of ignoring things from corruption to now ignoring people at events. We wouldn’t have a debate of they didn’t invite him. The struggles of freedom fighters to have a united country without hatred and discrimination amongst ourselves has been shitted on by the covfefe boys. While in ordinary cases we would’ve seen a walk out, it is admirable how Raila calmly handled the situation without a drop of drama and allowed the humiliation script to run smoothly. But there’s someone we call karma, she barely forgets.

Happy Madaraka Day ladies and gentlemen. Let’s hope to have a better one next year because of this, was a hot mess. Too many childish behaviours can somebody grow up please.

  • Let Us Forget About The Biggest Scam Of Century And Just Celebrate The New SGR Launch By Uhuru

Let Us Forget About The Biggest Scam Of Century And Just Celebrate The New SGR Launch By Uhuru

The President will today launch one of the biggest if not the biggest infrastructural project completed under jubilee, the completion of the first phase of SGR that is Mombasa- Kisumu that was built at a cost of 400B. The project has been marred by controversy from inception with procurement scandals, project overquoting amongst the many of issues raised. This is that project that has turned many into billionaires overnight.

    What was promised

Anyway, as it has been, integrity questions are always shutdown with blind patriotism and you risk being labeled a nuisance, enemy of progress when you just complain even at the moments where you need to shut up and eat what you’re served. It is considered unpatriotic to raise your voice in negatively on SGR right now even though you’ll be paying back the loan. As a law abiding citizen, I’ll forget about everything and simply enjoy the Chinese themed launch of our SGR by the President.

    What has been delivered

I decided to forget that the Sh400B worth compared to refurbishing the current meter gauge railway that would have cost Sh20 billion, that an upgraded meter gauge line would have given a similar performance as the SGR. I will forget about how we were promised bullet design electric trains only to be served with colonial era diesel locomotives that will be going at 80KM/hr to replace current cargo trains going at 60km/hr because that’s such a huge milestone.

I choose to forget the fact that to access the SGR I’ll have to take a Taxi or a matatu to Syokimau where the Nairobi terminus is, it would cost me an average of 1500 for taxi to Syokimau and 900 for an economy ticket to Mombasa where I’ll have to take again another taxi from Mariakani where the Mombasa terminus is to the CBD which is another 1000. A sum up of entire trip would come to Sh.3,400 on an economy class. For the same amount, I can afford one of the local flights to Mombasa and a VIP ticket on the luxurious busses to Mombasa. But forget you read this, just another of that pettiness.

SGR hostesses doing their Chinese language homework.

I’ll definitely forget that the returns of SGR to service the loans will take the time to materialize and that the burden is on the heavily burdened taxpayer to repay. With the first phase confirmed an entry of Sh400B to the debt bucket and 2 more phases (Nairobi- Natasha and Naivasha-Kisumu) putting it past 1Trillion mark, Kenya’s debt standing at Sh.4.5T an all times high and spending 50% of GDP paying loans off.

The Nairobi-Mombasa line cost about US$5.6m/km, for example, whereas the international norm is about US$2m/km and Ethiopia’s cost is about US$4.8m/km. In addition, Ethiopia is laid a more expensive electrified, double-track line, whereas Kenya’s railway is single-track and rely on diesel locomotives. Moreover, the terrain in Ethiopia is more challenging, and Kenya is also paying far more than Ethiopia for a similar array of rolling stock. I have to forget all that and just enjoy the diesel locomotives, I’m patriotic.

The SGR hostesses under Chinese influence and control

I’ll forget to ask why Kenya opted for a single-sourced deal rather than an open tender, which may have proved cheaper, and whether government-to-government deals are exempt from the provisions of public procurement legislation. I’ll forget about the fact that SGR is funded by loan from China, construction tender win by China, maintenance, and even the hostesses are forced to learn Chinese language and in a uniform without Kenyan theme, but you must agree I’m just being petty, let’s just enjoy the new trains as much as we will enjoy paying the loans.

As I wait for my moment to take off with the train I’m having more to forget about, abiding by The moral patriotism set standards of don’t ask , don’t tell, an America military gay policy.

  • How Top Corrupt State Officials Conspired To Create Artificial Maize Shortage To Make Big Profits Off The Mystery

How Top Corrupt State Officials Conspired To Create Artificial Maize Shortage To Make Big Profits Off The Mystery

The media need to be honest with Kenyans and tell them why we are facing a food crisis. There is no greater tragedy than those entrusted with empowering the masses hoarding information that points to government incompetence and dereliction of duty in feeding its people.

For starters, Kenya has a government body called the National Cereals & Produce Board (NCPB). Anytime you hear there is a reshuffle in government parastatals, kindly go straight to the appointee of the NCPB docket, because this is, arguably, the greatest cash cow of all the government entities around.

    And for obvious reasons.

According to FAO – the United Nations agency responsible for defeating hunger – the average person in Kenya consumes 2,155 kilocalories of food per day. Of this, 1183 kilocalories (55%) are in the form of the main staples of maize, wheat, beans, potatoes, and rice. Of those 5 main sources of energy, maize is the main staple food in Kenya, accounting for 65% of total staple food caloric intake. Simply put, 7 in 10 Kenyans survive on maize meal as their main source of energy. The average Kenyan consumes 88 kgs of maize products per year; approximately one full sack.

And this is where the NCPB comes in.

Nairobi commuters navigating the Jogoo Road-Embakasi route will never fail to spot those giant cemented drums sitting between Outering Road and Likoni Road. Those drums, right there in Doonholm, are the The Nairobi Grain Silos, and the headquarters of the NCPB Nairobi/Eastern Region. The intimidating structure, which can bee seen by a sitting toddler from as far as Baba Dogo in Ruaraka, is designed to store 880,000 90kg bags of grain. It will take 1 million Kenyans, feeding on the maize inside that depot daily, one year to empty the contents in there.

    And they are not alone.

Other than the Doonholm silo, there are ninety six (96) other NCPB depots spread all over the country. From Turbo to Kibwezi, Voi to Sagana, the NCPB silo network is so elaborate you could argue it is the only evenly distributed national resource in this country. There is no way Kenya can be facing hunger with all the NCPB silos in this country operating optimally.

But we are, and here is the reason why.

    If you listened to the Finance Minister Budget Speech last month, you must have heard of a term he called ‘The Strategic Grain Reserves’, or SGR. Paragraph 89, of the 2017 Budget Speech, reads, and I quote;

“Mr. Speaker, to enable the country maintain adequate food reserves and ensure productivity of our lands, I have allocated Ksh 1.3 billion for the strategic grain reserves; and Ksh 0.1 billion for mechanization of agriculture. To diversify our agriculture, I have allocated Ksh 0.1 billion for the revival of the pyrethrum sector, and for the Miraa farmers, I have set aside Ksh 1 billion. To enhance service delivery in the lands subsector, I have set aside Ksh 1.6 billion for Issuance of Title Deeds; and Ksh 0.9 billion for Digitization of Land Registries.”

The SGR, commonly referred to as as emergency food reserves or food security reserves, is a government measure to cushion Kenyans from the adverse effects of hunger. What this means is that to ensure Kenyans do not starve to death, every year, the government allocates money to NCPB to buy cereals that they will store, on the government’s behalf, and which can only be used in times of a food crisis.

The NCPB, therefore, procures, stores and maintains an SGR stockpile of up to four million bags (to be upgraded to 8 million bags) on behalf of the government to be used for food security. Upon instructions from the government, the NCPB is required to turn over the SGR stock through releases to commercial outlets and/or to social functions.

    It’s all good on paper.

With that level of preparedness, anyone landing from the moon would choose Kenya, all day long, as the most food secure nation to live in under the sun. But we aren’t. Where is the SGR stock that the NCPB should be releasing to commercial millers at this time of a food crisis, you ask?

Your answer, which the media would rather gloss over, lies with Newton Keter – the NCPB Managing Director.

In June 2016, Parliament’s Public Investment Committee summoned the National Cereals and Produce Board Managing Director, Newton Keter, to explain to Kenyans why the price of maize flour was threatening to blow the roof off. He came at the speed of light, with evidence the size of my grandmother’s granary. And if the committee expected him to run around the bush with his response, then they were in for a rude shock.

The NCPB Managing Dorector told them, in no uncertain terms, that the SGR Trustees, among them principal secretaries in the ministries of Agriculture, Treasury, Interior and Special Programmes, had delayed to order sales of the SGR maize from their silos, and that some of the maize had stayed there for over eight (8) years, leading to contamination.

It is the shortest ever submission, and by far the clearest, by a government official since 2013. The message was clear; that the artificial shortage of quality maize for millers, which had led to a spike in the cost of maize flour, was occasioned by government policy makers sitting in air-conditioned offices rubbing their convex bellies without a care in the world. The SGR trustees, mandated to sign off the dispatch of maize to millers to cushion us from starvation, were busy swiveling in their chairs watching the clock tick away while the dispatch letters were lying in-front of them waiting for just a sign.

    And for obvious reasons.

The maximum recommended period for NCPB to store maize, without compromising on quality, is two (2) years. Beyond that, the quality of the grain begins to deteriorate, leading to contamination which renders the maize unfit for human consumption. At the time of that grilling by the PIC, Mr. Keter revealed to the country that they had 400,000 bags of maize in their stores which had already been discoloured, with another ‘substantial amount’ already infested by weevils and other vermin. In short, the Strategic Grain Reserves in this country, at this time last year, needed a complete overhaul. No one would buy the low quality grain even if it were to be traded in the black market, for a penny.

That, up there, is what is wrong with this country.

Nothing happens by chance in this country. Everything happening in this country is meticulously planned to the last full-stop There is a reason someone high up the government food chain wanted Kenya to experience maize shortage.

    And here is why.

Maize grain prices in Kenya, according to a 2009 study, are among the highest in the Eastern and Southern Africa region. Comparing price levels in the major urban markets of Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique and South Africa, only Malawi has mean maize prices exceeded those in Kenya. What that means is that one can comfortably sanction government policy to import cheap maize in the country, sell it to millers for a tidy sum, and pocket the remainder without breaking a sweat in the farms like those in the Rift Valley do. It is not surprising, given that Kenyans long abandoned the virtue of hard work and adapted their noses to sniff at opportunities that guarantee quick money.

    And it came to pass.

    Let’s hear from Henry Rotich’s Budget Statement last month;

“Mr. Speaker, considering the hardship and the suffering associated with the recently declared national disaster as a result of the widespread drought in the country, white maize will be imported on a tax free basis for a period of four months. In addition, in order to support our Muslim brothers, the importation of dates during the period of Ramadhan will be done free of taxes.”

That statement can be found on paragraph 165 of the Budget Speech read in parliament last month. You may interpret that statement the way it pleases you but at the time that speech was being read, it was reported that a duty free maize consignment from COMESA was already in the high seas waiting to dock at the Port of Mombasa immediately the Finance Cabinet Secretary was done with his pitch..

It is not the first time government had deliberately strangled a public service outfit to give room for private entities to reap from the suffering of Kenyans.

It the reason farmers in the Rift Valley protested at that move, because it meant that zero-rated imported maize was going to lower the prices of their main source of livelihood making them incur loses from the production of their grain. Private brokers with links high up the government food chain were handsomely rewarded while hardworking farmers down there breaking their backs to earn a living off commercial maize were told to accept and move on.

As Winston Churchill famously remarked; “An appeaser is the one who feeds the crocodile hoping it will eat him last.”

    Freedom is coming, tomorrow.

A Good Year To Elect A Woman As Hope Gleam

If you want something said ask a man, if you want something done ask a woman the famous words by Margaret Thatcher clouds my thoughts as I get down to scribble this. Women world all over have been battling with make chauvinism for the longest time and undergone countless obstacles to be viewed as having equal rights in the society. While agreeable improvements have been formulated and implemented, the society is yet to fully embrace the newly empowered woman with an education and economic independence, men still feel threatened by this aggressive and go getta women going for the rooftop.

Africa, a traditionally male-dominated continent with discriminatory history on women, did the unusual when Ellen Johnson was elected as the President of Liberia making her the first female President to be elected in Africa. This was a significant milestone in the male-dominated political world. However, all isn’t glamorous, women in Kenya have been fighting for equal representation in parliament and other arms of government. Despite engraving of the constitution, the two third gender rule that guarantees equal gender representation, the fruits are yet to be fully enjoyed. Parliament on several occasions has shut down the full implementation of the two-thirds gender rule.

Unlike previous elections, August polls give a glimmer of hope as many women are set to win big posts. Instead of waiting to be served on a silver plate, 2017 has seen women going out of the comfort zone by taking the fight to the men’s doorstep. It is encouraging to see the number of women who floored men in the just concluded party nominations; it shows how commitment, determination, and confidence are a great recipe to spring up women to take over leadership.

Studies have shown that women are more likely to make beneficial political policies that would be advantageous to the society as opposed time who’re primarily self-centered. But from the nominations, You can see it hasn’t been a smooth ride for women; they’ve been subjected to violence, sexual abuse, threats and intimidation, misogyny and dark mud dragging.

Esther Passaris who’s carrying ODM’s flag for Nairobi Woman Rep and is projected to floor Jubilee’s Shebesh come August, is a good example of many female political aspirants who’ve been a target of misogynists and male chauvinists. It remains a clear picture on many minds how Miguna Miguna, a candidate for Nairobi gubernatorial seat, launched scathing personal attacks on her during a live national interview that would later see JEFF Koinange live suspended over the embarrassing sexism episode.

Passaris has also had to battle attacks on her sexuality from admirers clothing as critics who’re in few coins payroll, running a failed character assassination attempt. It is, however, admirable how she’s ignored and instead concentrate on her agenda for the Nairobi women and youths. A woman’s worth is not really what is between the legs, but ears, baseless accusations, and political witch hunting must therefore not be tolerated in locking out progressive leadership that this country so much need.

Passaris is not the only victim, women are being attacked and their sexuality used against them. In run up to the Jubilee nominations, a shy Karen Nyamu tells a victim when a sexually charged video of her showing her posterior was leaked online in a name shaming campaign against her. There are so many of like cases countrywide.

Statistics shows that women make 52% of the country’s population translating to 60% of the registered voters. This is a clear picture that the direction this country will take, mostly depends on the voting pattern adopted by women and youths. It is encouraging again that unlike 2013, Kenya is set to have the first ever female governor in 2017. In Kirinyaga, there’s undoubted surety that either Martha Karua or graft-tainted Waiguru will carry the day, Joyce Laboso is giving CCM’s Rutto a run for his money in Bomet, In Machakos, Wavinya Ndeti is giving Alfred Mutua sleepless nights, Ngilu is also going for Kitui. A Good number of women are going for other elective posts as well.

Samantha Maina an MCA aspirant for Kileleshwa.

This is the time for women in this country to stand up and be heard if you want your interests to be heard then no one would do it better than your own. Vote them in, and let us see if things would change. We have serious women who’ve fought men in this misogynistic ground of politics to make a brand and identity for themselves. Current women representation has not been as aggressive; we need iron fist women leadership after August to square it with the men. Let’s have the Ngilus, Karuas, Passaris, Aishas, Wavinyas…in the next set of representatives and make women representation great again. The key is in their fellow women’s hands. Instead of crying foul for discrimination and inequality, change the tone by voting.

Jubilee Strategists Overhauls Social Media Team With Traditional 36 Bloggers Sidelined

JUBILEE Social Media Machineries And PR Team All At Menopause Stage

When a Woman reaches menopause stage; she is unable to conceive and lacks sexual drive (libido), gratification, excitement. Mechanisms which have been or rather being applied by Jubilee Party PR team which is led by the low self-esteem Dennis ‘Veronica’Itumbi to counter attack the great NASA plans to renovate the crooked shape of Kenya Nation seems to be running out through metamorphosis. They have instead made a U-turn into Identity Theft which is a Cyber Crime, but it won’t be sorted in Court, it’s just dirty politics which pops in when someone run out of ideas because of the same monkeys in a different forest.

When we realized Jubilee smart cards which were to be used for Party primaries was a multi-million scam,it was a plus for the 36bloggers on Twitter who used to be paid 527/- to push Jubilee government agenda since they were promised increment of triple the 527/- and were to be paid at end month.Days, weeks and months passed their account remained stagnant, doors locked over rental arrears, their assets auctioned. They vanished from pushing Government agendas through hashtags on Twitter and blogs. They have never been paid!

Dennis Itumbi led team had to plan a new blueprint strategy to encounter Opposition Online team and instead settled on creating Fake Parody accounts in facebook and twitter where masses are, and fake Websites of NASA tainting its Flagbearer’s image to hoodwink, twist and create tension on Opposition supporters.I understand, and I’ll die to believe these are last kicks of a dying horse and prior signs and symptoms of menopause.

Dennis Ole Itumbi alias ‘Veronica’s have been a job seeker because of his childishness, low self-esteem and palpitations ever since he was fired and blocked against any force of gravity that might try to siphon him near Statehouse premises as head of Digital Communication Strategy. He is back to his previous position as ‘just’ Certificate holder blogger.Veteran Journalist and mastermind behind KTN Tv program “Chamwada Report” Alex Chamwada took over his position as newly appointed Head Digital Communication Strategy. When Itumbi was fired by President Kenyatta in a crackdown strategy, he refused to handover blueprints and relevant resources which were to be used by the new team.He is still being followed by bulls on heat, being hired for malicious plans.

Lately, Jubilee has shifted to sponsoring mainstream media houses through the Chamwada-led team. Here are few observations: News hitting hard at Opposition are given more airtime than news hitting Government; In interviews, Opposition affiliated respondents are always asked peeling off the mask queries while Government affiliated are asked kindergarten questions; Jubilee hullabaloo events being aired while Opposition’s events are Censored.

    Infamous Uhuru’s dab

Back to twitter world which is believed to be the second government.Jubilee did away with 36bloggers and went miles ahead to bribing @twitterke which evidently have been censoring hashtags hitting Government and its agencies from trending topic list. This has led to the laying off of all twitter Kenya operating team,@TwitterKe suspended their account due to this incompetence of its team and management. Are you still asking where the multi-millions from the smart cards are being used?

The dirty expenditure has just begun!

Recently, reports of great concern have reached my desk regarding fake parody accounts speculating propaganda by the following Identities:

1.The Real Raila (Anti Raila)-Sponsored Facebook page with over 80,000-page likes, twitter handle @therealraila and website www.therealraila.com.Note this:1page like cost 1$=100kshs meaning 80k×100=Kshs 8,000,000 and remember this is a government project behind bars.Whose money is being used? Also the website and the twitter handle have all been sponsored and are more expensive compared to Facebook advert policy and payments.

2.The National Super Alliance (NASA) -which has over 100,000-page likes, do the math and get the cost.Kenya will soon be declared bankrupt. On 5th May, the administrators sponsored blogs with the content of fake reports claiming ditching and resignation of NASA deputy flagbearer Kalonzo Musyoka from the coalition and was to make press statement the day after which never happened.

Itumbi’s tactics are never dynamic, always the same old tricks to the same old dog: During IEBC-CORD war alias ‘Teargas Monday,’he published a ‘leaked’statement regarding CORD’s strategic plans against the government which included the war on IEBC, sponsoring doctors strike.Identity Theft. Sometimes back he again published his Statements on behalf of an NGO by the name Nothern Advocacy for Sustainable Agriculture (NASA) which was ‘Optimistic’ to halt Opposition’s political alliance National Super Alliance (NASA) to use another name due to confusion, fortunately, failed terribly. Here he again went ahead with the same trick to publish his own ‘leaked’ Kalonzo’s plan on ditching NASA and going for the presidency alone.Am willingly calling upon Itumbi to enroll for my lessons to at least get new tricks.

Below is the list of the Administrators managing the above parody accounts:

  • Raila Loses To Uhuru Even Before The Campaigns Officially Kicks Off

Raila Loses To Uhuru Even Before The Campaigns Officially Kicks Off

Politics is science meaning finer details can’t be viewed with naked eyes. It needs deeper analysis to understand the unwritten aspects adequately. Communication is one thing, strategic, effective communication is everything. It is for this simple reason that even African dictators have resorted to services of international communication consultancy firms to help them control masses and eventually retain power. In recent elections where the opposition has been uprooting till death do us apart Presidents, have a strategic communication system to attribute their successes to.

In politics, perception is critical and how you build that iS entirely up to you, but you must make a narrative to serve your agenda. Psychological manipulation, building perceptions is why explicitly or perceived rogue leaders get overwhelming support, look at Sonko and the support he’s commanding despite negative publicity. Unity and Ruto had serious crimes hanging over their heads but used the loophole of psychological twisting to build a favorable perception that they were innocent and only being sacrificed by Raila to be crucified in public land.

While the reality and culpability to the alleged crimes remain open book, the duo manipulated facts and changed perceptions that would later cost the favorable Raila a win in the election.
Propaganda is a traditional take on trade in politics that has worked for systems worldwide. The effectiveness of a well-choreographed propaganda can’t be put any better. Politics is not a game for the Saints, and that’s the unwritten truth, you either get your hands dirty or find yourself in the cold.

Jubilee unlike 2013 where they ran on a youthful new leadership euphoria and ICC bond, have totally lost leverage and despite the fact that we’re less than 100 days to the general elections are yet to settle on a central campaign platform. Jubilee has tried to use development as their campaign agenda capitalizing especially on infrastructure, going as far as launching a portal to sell their record including massive mainstream media hyping of same records but this has proven to be a task to sell. Cost of living has disturbingly shot up in the last four years that it becomes nearly impossible to convince the poor mwananchi who’s spending more to put enough food on the table that the country has developed.

Development and improvement of the economy to the normal mwananchi who survive on hand to mouth basis is not the SGR or any other infrastructural development but the table, if they can’t feel it in the household, then everything else is music to a dead ear.

The effectiveness of building perceptions has seen opposition squarely paint jubilee as a corrupt government given unending scandals; they ensured all fraud schemes were exposed and this is the ugly stain that Jubilee has struggled to remove in vain. Economic ratings rank Kenya as steadily rising with impressive GDP, but the apparatus speaks a different reality. Cost of living in Kenya has shot up to ridiculous levels, companies have either been downsizing or leaving Kenya because of the extreme business environment, the unemployment rate has hit an all-time high of 46%. This is the loophole and advantage that NASA has jumped into promising magic of resetting Kenya to default settings of affordable life.

President Kenyatta receives Gitobu Imanyara as a Jubilee partner.

The high cost of living remained NASA’s greatest bargaining power and campaign platform until Jubilee saw a lapse in their communication system and rushed in to spoil the party, convening a special Parliament meeting to discuss how to lower food prices with a supplementary budget to the same. NASA had a golden opportunity to maximize and milk this failure on the government entirely but has failed to capitalize on Jubilee’s failures. It takes prompt and flawless media strategic position to build a narrative around this and change perceptions. This was the opportunity to expose the poor governance in Jubilee which is to blame for the state the country is in. This was the time to task Jubilee to explain to Kenyans why they didn’t put in place effective food security measures.

It is also the time NASA would be making Jubilee lose weight explaining where the 15B allocated to Galana Kulalu irrigation project that was meant to answer to food shortage go; it failed terribly. It is also the time Jubilee would be tasked to answer as to why drought eradication can’t include water harvesting even as we have heavy rains. Kenya can’t run on 90s management yet we expect change, effective governance would have factored in that by now. Also, an opportune time to ask why to take fertilizer supplied to farmers turned out to be fake and infectious leading to drop on corruption. A subsidy from the government, who supplied farmers with plastic fertilizer.

The Kibandas don’t serve the extra ugali piece(sosa) anymore, and this is where that juacali artisan is directly affected, maize prices had shot up more than double amount from when Jubilee took power, during campaigns, Ruto is quoted promising for unga prices to go down on taking office, this would’ve have been perfect time to replay him the videos and ask what happened. Prices of domestic goods have altogether shot up, and this is why it was such a great campaign platform that Jubilee couldn’t allow to go, it is felt in all households.

While Jubilee’s move to help reduce the cost of essential commodities is a great move as regular mwananchi will get a reprieve, It exposes the put out of touch nature of the government, everything happened under their watch, unconcerned until reality hit that it was being used as campaign platform against them. The sudden concern for the affordable cost of living is, therefore, more plastic than silicon on those glands.

NASA took their time to fully capitalize on this either because they didn’t have in place any plan, nI communication strategy or sheer incompetence by existing team or perhaps somebody thought miracles would happen as in Prophet Owuor crusades. The communication lapse gave Jubilee time to re-strategize in responding the failures. This is the price to pay for poor strategizing.

Jubilee has an endless list of failures, and this doesn’t necessarily guarantee that Kenyans will reject them and that’s why they’re on a positive perception building overdrive How this is done, simple, media takeover. Jubilee is running ads and commanding maximum mainstream media coverage. You control the media you control the masses.

Jubilee has also revamped their online army even though most are malnourished with pending payments. Latest project ‘The Real Raila’ which is a direct demonizing campaign on Raila, is heavily funded by Google, Twitter, Facebook sponsored posts. The project which has been exposed to have a base in Statehouse under Dennis Itumbi watch is running ads daily spending millions.

Unlike Jubilee’s 36bloggers who’ve in their ineffective online campaigns have displayed ignorance and out of touch with everything, NASA online soldiers evidently show articulation and grasp with typical issues. A well-managed communication system ought to take advantage of this to run a coordinated, effective online battle without which it is chasing the wind. NASA must keep in mind they’re not dealing with the common political outfit, Jubilee has invested in propaganda arsenal which can only be squashed with timely communication, giving a false narrative to travel won’t take it back if the war is online, counter with a well motivated and competent team same to mainstream. Media create agendas that switch perceptions.

In 2013 September, five months after Jubilee took over power, effective September 2nd, 2013, among other products the prices of milk, newspapers, textbooks, fertilizers, and mobile phone handsets went up as a result of implementing the new VAT Act 2013.

The previously VAT exempted commodities were now subjected to 16% VAT. Under that new law by Jubilee, the 12% rate for electricity, as well as the electricity exemption for certain households, was also repealed.

Also, according to that law, effective 1 September 2016 (last year) certain petroleum products became taxable with 16% VAT. The changes have led to a strong impact on Kenyans increasing the overall costs of living. According to William Ruto (in 2013), the purpose of the drastic VAT change was to generate revenue for the nation’s development agenda.

The money was scheduled to go into public constructions including road and rail system improvements. It should also help the public hospitals. This was in 2013, fast forward to 2017. Kenyans are feeling the pinch. The cost of essential commodities is beyond the roof, but Jubilee is blaming the cost of living on drought. It is fallacious for Jubilee today, to claim that it is doing all it can to reduce the cost of living.

  • Time To Bring Decorum To The Woman Representative Post In Nairobi

Time To Bring Decorum To The Woman Representative Post In Nairobi

The just concluded jubilee primaries in Nairobi has bundled out jokers with a baseless and unclear vision for an important constitutional office that has been underrated thanks to reigning officials who’ve done nothing or little to give it glory.

In the final stretch to the nominations, Kenyans had a much needed portraying of mediocrity in live T.V. shows that brought together the contestants for Nairobi post. It was hurting to both eyes and ears watching ladies like Karen Nyamu who could barely express herself attempt unsuccessfully to articulate and present her vision. From the discussions, it doesn’t come as a shocker that nothing tangible from the Jubilee contestants was pushed to the audience except unnecessary catfight during the interviews.

It is public knowledge that the ladies who’ve now been kicked out of the race had nothing much to offer than the fact that they were girlfriends to top jubilee honchos. It was painful for Omanga who has alleged been rigged out at the Pangani HQ which is currently an equivalent of a funeral home with losers crying foul. Omanga according to sources privy taking to Kenya Insights, spent close to 40M in her campaigns and was promised the seat by her cheating partner who happens to be top of the heels in the elections board. Karen Nyamu, on the other hand, is getting auctioned with debtors on her trail. With rent arrears accumulating to months, she risks now getting evicted from her home.

Esther Passaris and Governor Kidero at Uhuru Park during the flagbearer naming event

Sideshows to the side, Jubilee has yet nominated Shebesh, the same lady who gave the women rep position a demon baptism. In her tenure, Shebesh is best remembered for her sexual escapades that became the value face of the office, unfortunately.

With Shebesh now guaranteed of being in the ballot box in August, The focus now shifts to ODM where the only contestant in public limelight Esther Passaris, holds the hopes for the opposition party. Jubilee is hell bent to win the gubernatorial seat that the least elites choice, Sonko has been adopted as the main candidate against Kidero. Caught in catch 50/50, ODM must front progressive candidates or face a complete sweep out of the top city’s positions. Passaris is seen by many as corporate and with the class needed for the seat, but that’s for everyone to judge.

As ODM goes to the primaries, It remains unclear who the other candidates would be vying for the women rep position. Whatever the case, ODM supporters have the chance to give Nairobi the best candidate with much-needed decorum to weed out the hooliganism and ugly face leadership embedded by Shebesh. The youths and women of Nairobi stand good chances of prosperity with authentic and responsible leadership in parliament to fight for their space with passion.

  • In Raila Odinga As NASA Flagbearer, Jubilee Hit With Worst Nightmare

In Raila Odinga As NASA Flagbearer, Jubilee Hit With Worst Nightmare

Raila cannot win any election, he’s the weakest candidate, he’s unelectable, he’s polarizing, he’s a perennial loser, Raila will never be the President of Kenya. Same song just a different stage, Raila has just been named as the NASA flagbearer, and the familiar demonizing tunes of his name unsurprisingly hit the airwaves.

Honestly, when the idea of opposition uniting was conceptualized, It was pretty obvious who would take the mantle, to NASA supporters, It was never going to be anyone else but Raila, a reality they carried through despite hiccups. As for Jubilee, Raila was the marked man, but they prayed day and night for things to turn up otherwise until the nightmare became a reality when he was named.

Only a fool would root for a stronger opponent when entering a boxing ring with a total assurance of blackout in the first few seconds. As an enemy, you try as much not to show your opponent your fears and point out their strengths. Instead, you point out their weaknesses tricking them into being their strengths.

NASA Pentagon making an entrance into the naming of the flagbearer event at Uhuru Park

In 2013, ICC gave UhuRuto a huge platform to campaign and mobilize their ethnic blocs to come out in large numbers, and they sure did in a bid to save their sons from mzungu noose instigated by Raila, that was the lying line that sold the stale bread. Fast forward to 2017; Jubilee is yet to settle on a campaign platform even though hanging on their development record. Voters have shifted in mind mindset looking for results-oriented leadership. Under the last four years of jubilee, health, unemployment, the high cost of living amongst other recession factors has hit the country and citizens making informed ballot choices of the nominations are anything to go by.

Jubilee studied all the NASA candidates, their potentials and the one thing that was clear, only Raila posed the greatest threat to disruption of the system. In a mind game war, ridicule and belittling the idea of Raila candidacy took precedence; the fallacy was pushed and adopted without proper chewing. It is unsurprising you’ll meet intoxicated minds saying Raila is a run over for Jubilee without clear explanation. And if any you’ll be treated to he has lost previous elections, Jubilee knows his game plan he’ll be defeated again.

Defeating Raila is easier on paper but I’ll tell you why from the outside Jubilee is confident but deeply inside terribly shaken to near wetting their pants. Elections are won on two fronts, voter turnout, and economic mobilization. It’s on these principles that NASA had to crack their brains to settle on a neutral candidate who would strike it in the middle.

Unveiling of the official NASA logo

In 2007 elections where the outcome of elections turned violent, Raila believed his victory was stolen, even though Judge Kriegler’s findings didn’t single it out, the study pointed to a bungled victory for Kibaki. In 2013, again Raila claimed he was short changed, and the matter went to the Supreme Court. To read the pattern, Raila’s opponents may have perfected the art of stealing his victory and using the profiling to get away with it. Branding Raila as a perennial and whining loser is a threat to credible elections as players would quickly invest in the demonizing game to get away with the shambolic election.

August general election comes with crucial electoral reforms that are meant to make elections rigging proof and this should worry Jubilee if they had fraud as part of their winning strategies. Parallel tallying and confirmation by the court that results are legitimized as soon as they’re announced by the returning officers closing the loophole of results manipulation changes the games. The peace of the country as it stands is embedded in the credibility of the polls, for this reason, IEBC must ensure a tamper-proof election.

It is laughable when veteran Jubilee supporters allude that they’d vote for an alternative NASA candidate other than Raila, this is just hot air, dynamics of voting especially in presidential elections remains the same with tribal card taking a toll. Even if NASA gave a Mudavadi/ Kalonzo ticket, there wouldn’t have been any substantial shift in support, and that’s a simple fact.

NASA had to go for a candidate with considerate support but most importantly one who would cause serious voter turnout and with guaranteed voting bloc. Kalonzo carries a significant block of Kamba votes, but his ability to fully energize his base seemed shaky, he’s currently facing distinction threats from Chap Chap’s Alfred Mutua. After all, he has been a vice-president, a running mate, and a presidential candidate. Yet he has never fully delivered the Kamba vote.

When Kalonzo ran on his own, in 2007, he polled 879,903 votes against Raila’s 4,352,993. Of this, only 153,117 votes were from outside Eastern. More interesting, the total vote he got in Eastern — 726,786 — was only 63 percent of the total number of voters in Ukambani. He was unable to convince over 30 per cent of Ukambani.

Mr. Musalia Mudavadi of ANC, an early favorite, does not hold the Western vote. He also seems to have little support outside western Kenya, despite his name recognition across the country. In 2013, he managed only 353,858 votes in Western, a region with 1,214,285 voter turnout numbers. Outside of his western political base, he got only 130,123 votes. In short, Mr. Raila Odinga of ODM got more than two times what Mr. Mudavadi got in Western.

People lie, numbers don’t. August general election will only be one based on voters turn out. Raila can guarantee a formidable turnout that would send jubilee into serious strategizing. Nyanza, Western, Eastern, and Coast remains vital vote taps that NASA must get out to guarantee a round one win. Raila is also the only candidate amongst the principals who has the potential to attract support outside his background bloc, and this has been proven. His strengths ran way above any thought of combination, and it is for this reason jubilee would’ve tried all means to see the coalition tear apart or have anyone else being flagbearer being the candidate.

If indeed Jubilee isn’t scared of Raila and sees him as the weakest candidate and a guaranteed run over then they can as well go for an early celebration, save the energy and money for campaigning instead just sent back home and wait for the next Uhuru’s inauguration but they won’t and this the point where the real threat of a Raila candidacy hits everyone. A united opposition can’t be wished away; it sent away Moi, has been sending away veteran dictators across Africa and Jubilee isn’t immortal. It is games time ladies and gentlemen. El Classico!

  • Thou Shall Judge Party’s Abilities To Run The Country By How They Conducted Their Nominations

Thou Shall Judge Party’s Abilities To Run The Country By How They Conducted Their Nominations

Parties primaries in common characteristics have been marred by chaos, violence and open rigging schemes that have left many jaws hitting the floors. None of the parties participating in the recruitment exercise ahead of August general polls got anywhere close to the standard threshold of a democratic nomination. Shambolic exercise it has been.

Shrewd party organization and deep corruption in the relevant boards has seen qualified candidates, and clear winners lose their tickets to highest bidders. Favoritism in top party organs has played a major role in the chaotic I events witnessed in the past weeks of the vigorous exercise. ODM was the first to be hit with logistical challenges which earned the party all mannerisms of negative captions Entered jubilee who promised world class free and fair nominations, the first bite was horrible they had to cancel entire exercise to refresh the whole process.

How a party conducts it’s internal operations such as primaries gives a rare glimpse of what would happen should they be given power. Kenyans have been given a free show in the past days to weigh in and see the future. It has been a crystal clear show where dictatorship, corruption, nepotism, favoritism came into full play. No miracle would happen in between that things would be any different should the party attain power. It would simply be a case of the different forest with the same monkeys.

Don’t expect a party to run a shambolic nomination exercise and transform into angelic management system when running the country that would be a toll order. Jubilee has clearly shown from their questionable activities that they don’t meet the standards, and so is ODM whose exercise is facing harsh criticisms from their strongholds. The effect of imposing candidates and certificates buying is threatening to invoke voter apathy in the affected areas.

Political parties must stop preaching water while guzzling wine. Democracy cannot just be a word they shout in public yet exercise Hitler class dictatorship behind the doors. The voice of the people must be listened to and respected or else the wrath of the people shall befall them at heart. In simple terms, if a party can’t run a clean internal exercise as nominations them don’t expect them to run a government any different.

  • Greed And Opportunism Attracts 13,000 MCAs Aspirants Majority Clueless On The Roles Of The Position

Greed And Opportunism Attracts 13,000 MCAs Aspirants Majority Clueless On The Roles Of The Position

The stature of Members of the County Assemblies has grown because of the realization that they oversee the spending of billions of shillings by the county government under the governor, earn an average Sh250,000 monthly salary in addition to allowances and do a lot of traveling.

Devolution has seen through the emergence of overnight millionaires, and there are classic cases of down to earth men in the counties who went from their mud houses to multi-million palaces. So much theft has been going in the county governments that it has become an ideal place for hyenas of public coffers.

The position of the MCA has become so lucrative that there are MPs who’ve ‘relegated’ to vie for the post and Professionals leaving bigger jobs to battle out for the County space. It has also attracted thugs and goons with a poor education background and without a tint grasp of what it entails. The only clear motivation that has seen close to 13,000 aspirants fight for the available 1,450 wards is greed and opportunism to loot; County is the new looting avenue.

MCAs also have a Sh2 million car loan, Sh3 million mortgage and mileage allowance. In 2015/16, MCAs in the 47 counties gobbled up Sh2.82 billion in sitting allowances. Take an example of Bungoma where MCAs diverted money meant for health to hospitality and travel. In the period of six months last year, they spent 859M on travel and hospitality and just 8m on health supplies. Misappropriation of funds has been synonymous in nearly all counties. So shocking that a budget of millions was awarded to Nyeri MCAs to travel to Nairobi just to be taught how to use Facebook and Twitter, the madness. There have been cases where MCAs go abroad to learn about ridiculous things as how to collect cabbage, trips that don’t make any sense and can easily be accessed through the internet but creating allowances leeway to milk allocated funds continuously.

The MCA’s post has emerged among the powerful ones under devolution, given the local lawmakers play an oversight role over billions disbursed to counties, which makes the former councilor’s post in the past local authorities pale in comparison.

This year, Sh301 billion including conditional grants has been allocated to the 47 counties, a large allocation placed under the oversight of the country’s 2,222 MCAs across the regional parliaments. Of the number, 1,450 are elected and 772 nominated to the county assemblies that also approve county budgets and make laws to be enforced by county governments.

On average, a MCA takes home Sh250,000 per month, which translates to a total of about half a billion in salaries every month. This is more than the money allocated to an average government department. The MCA’s post has emerged among the powerful ones under devolution, given the regional lawmakers play an oversight role over billions disbursed to counties, which makes the former councilor’s post in the past local authorities pale in comparison.

The perks arose out of a deal hammered out with the Office of the Controller of Budget in 2013, allowing MCAs higher salaries and allowances, including mortgages, car grants, ward offices and a budget for hiring drivers, bodyguards, and secretaries.

MCAs have been arguing that by their positions as elected representatives, they are entitled to the privileges, which takes them miles away from former councilors, some of who live in poverty today.

Other than the huge perks, MCAs have pushed forward development funds. In some counties, governors have caved in to pressure and awarded each member the control of Sh10 million for grassroots development projects.

Their influence in approval of budgets, the passage of laws and sanctions, for instance in the impeachment of top county officials, means that governors must avoid confrontations with them. We’ve had several cases where MCAs blackmail the governors with impeachment prompting bribery and dancing to their tunes. MCAs transformed into mercenaries in the County Governments.

There’s a perception that there’s huge cash in the assembly and provides greatest opportunities to grab enough wealth in the minimum period that’s why every Tom, Dick, and Harry is hurrying to win a space. Don’t trust a hyena with your sheep.

  • Greed, Selfishness Of NASA Leaders Is Guaranteeing Jubilee Another Term In Office

Greed, Selfishness Of NASA Leaders Is Guaranteeing Jubilee Another Term In Office

Since its inception, the idea of a united opposition gave pro-change and democracy supporters a sigh of relief. The formalization of NASA pumped a new breath of fresh air with hopes skyrocketing when the opposition leaders; Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula came together and vowed before the public to remain together in forming the indomitable team that would send Jubilee home.

Kenya is hungry for change, and that’s why the NASA idea was readily embraced even by the civil society. However, things have changed three months later into the formalization of NASA; confusion has reigned with the principals unable to decide on who will fly the coalition’s flag. With less than three months to the election, the delay of naming the flagbearer is doing more damage than good while giving an upper hand to the Jubilee capitalizing on the push and pull to advance their agenda.

Without sugar coating of issues, only a united opposition can put up the much-needed energy to remove Jubilee out of power in the absence of this then everyone else can forget about grabbing power out of Jubilee’s grasp. Greed, selfishness and extreme ego are going to be NASA’s greatest undoing as both principals stay their grounds with none ready to deputize the other. Everyone wants to be the President and not only the Strategic Committee’s recommendation, but private talks amongst them have failed to break the ice. The leaders have shown apparent characteristic of typical Kenyan politicians who put their personal interests ahead of the country

NASA stands at a high point in history to save or permits destruction of the country by allowing more years of Jubilee reign. History will be there to judge them, and it will be written how greed denied Kenyans a chance to taste change. There are genuine fears that some leaders would yank out of the umbrella a move that would send jubilee into an early celebration. One Saitoti is remembered for his quote that there comes a time when the interest of the country supersedes the personal. This is what each of the principals must keep in mind if at all they have any good intentions for the country.

Again they’re at liberty to satisfy their personal interests, breaking up the pact and go whichever way. Whichever way it goes, one thing remains Crystal clear that selfishness and greed cloud Kenya’s politics. All the principals know their strengths, they know well who can put up the best fight to trounce Jubilee but greed seems to be bigger and priority to them than Kenyans needs. The unnecessary drama can also be solved by allowing NASA supporters to participate in an open electoral process to decide on the leader. Time is running out, delay of naming NASA flagbearer is giving a failed Jubilee regime confidence in retaining the seat.

Lastly, to NASA leaders, will you let greed and selfishness the masters in self-destruction win over serving Kenyans interests? As you deliberate with the unending, unsuccessful talks to name the flagbearer to remember time is running out and history is closely watching for yours will be written based on your choices.

  • Women Representative Position Is Not A Reserve For Politicians Girlfriends

Women Representative Position Is Not A Reserve For Politicians Girlfriends

Nominations for party tickets have taken a toll of events with expected chaos clouding the hot contests. The constitution has given women and other marginalized groups more empowerment even if intended standards are yet to be met as far as the two third gender rule is concerned.

Woman representative, a position created under Article 97 of the new constitution, opened special legislation position for 47 women drawn from all the 47 counties. However, a good number of Kenyans are yet to fully feel the relevance of this post with a good support towards the suggestion of scrapping the position.

You really can’t blame Kenyans who are yet to feel the full impact of this office given the fact that occupants are loudly dormant and doing nothing tangible in making the office more relevant. Using Nairobi as an example, the post of Nairobi Rep has attracted the most clueless and pathetic leadership breed.

Here’s a new kind of leadership which lacks a clear mandate. It is public knowledge that a good number of them if not all are girlfriends to senior politicians and busy serving the circle. For a serious constitutional office, you get nauseated to the tag lines only familiar with socialites on Instagram being adopted by these disillusioned politicians. How do you expect voters to take you if not the office seriously while you’re packaging yourself as nothing but a sex object? Sponsor baiting tags like Bae wa Nai, Msupa wa Nai, Manzi wa Nai and all that hogwash, demeans the office of the woman representative.

Millicent Omanga, Jubilee aspirant flaunting her curves on campaign poster

This breed goes to political rallies dressed as if they’re going to meet a sponsor they meet off afrointroduction. The relevance of this office is actively being soiled. Kenya misses the focused women leadership of Wangari Maathai, Martha Karua, Charity Ngilu perhaps we have some hopes in Esther Passaris who recently dropped her bid for the governorship to view bid for Nairobi Women Rep. Kenya women and youths need results-oriented leadership and not deceiving leadership.

Less can be written of reigning Nairobi Women Rep Shebesh who has made more headlines on her sexual escapades than actual policy making. She set a dangerous precedent, and now every woman with a beautiful face and big hips aspire to be a woman rep as if this is a beauty contest. The office has been abused and misinterpreted. The women and youths need favorable policies to ease livelihoods not hips, this can be bought but not quality leadership.

Since most of them are too engaged during the night making that campaign money ‘talking’ to the sponsors, here’s a brief summary of what’s expected of a woman representative.

Karen Nyamu, Jubilee aspirant in a dinner dress during one of her campaigns.

Each of the 47 counties has an elected women representative at the National Assembly. The public sees them as completely different from other MPs. However, they are all similar based on their functions.

The only difference is that the role of women representatives goes beyond that of other MPs. That is why the Constitution created positions for them in parliament.

WOMEN REPRESENTATIVES REPRESENT THE WOMEN, WHOM THE CONSTITUTION RECOGNIZES AS A MARGINALIZED GROUP (ARTICLE 100).

Women representatives should promote the interests of women and girls within their counties. This role involves coming up with laws and policies that specifically target women and girls. Through parliament, they should lobby and advocate for equity and equal opportunities for women and girls.

They should sponsor and engage in bills, motions, resolutions, and notices that aim to redress any disadvantage suffered by women and girls because of the past or present discrimination.

The other role of women representatives is to receive and act on petitions from the public on matters that relate to (discrimination of) women and girls.

Women Representatives in Kenya also have a role to play in mobilizing residents in their counties to identify projects that women and girls can benefit from. They should influence the national government to include or adopt these projects in the budget. Furthermore, they can utilize the role of parliament in the budget process to allocate money for these projects.

Before they vanish to their sponsors on failing nominations, can Jeff Koinange or any other political talk show jump on the opportunity and hold a debate and face off of the woman representative aspirants for Nairobi. You can bet this would be a good show and a chance to clear empty heads from the right minds. Apart from the beauty and booty what else do you have to offer, that should be the deciding factor for electorates. Over to You!

  • Opinion: Raila As The Flagbearer Is NASA’s Only Sure Bet On Defeating Jubilee Early In The Morning

Opinion: Raila As The Flagbearer Is NASA’s Only Sure Bet On Defeating Jubilee Early In The Morning

IEBC has formally gazetted August 8th as the grand day for the general election. Even though the official campaigns are yet to be given the nod, the country is on a full campaign mode with party primaries dominating the scenes. Of great concern is the selection of NASA flagbearer a brain teaser that has consumed not only the opposition’s supporters but has dominated the talks on most of Jubilee gatherings. The president himself has not been left out in ridiculing the opposition for delaying naming their choice to face them in the battle.

We’ve been treated to pseudo-analysis from financed political analysts with openly biased stands. In the whole well set theatrical work three things have been consistent; demonizing of Raila as the flagbearer, consistent effort through propaganda and physical negotiations to yank Kalonzo out of the coalition to disrupt their stability and lastly a general effort to divide NASA. As it stands, a United NASA remains a political nightmare to the incumbent. With a totally disrupted system in the economy and distinction in corruption, the Jubilee is having a mountain of work in convincing Kenyans for four more years. Therefore, a strong united opposition promising a shift in the distorted system poses a grave threat to Jubilee’s survival.

It doesn’t come as a surprise that Raila has become a punching bag for his opponents who are understandably scared of his candidature in the forthcoming elections given his history in fighting for social justice and an indomitable anti-corruption crusader. To his supporters Raila is the only strong figure to disrupt and dismantle the corrupt establishment entirely, to his opponents, Raila is the least qualified of all the candidates, the backdrop of this is the corrupt are genuinely horrified at the idea of him taking power. They suspect he’d use his position as President to go after their dirty money and shut business for them.

It is worth noting that a Kalonzo and Mudavadi ticket is a great combination but the harsh truth is there’s no NASA without Raila. As much as we might try to run away from the truth, facts will remain unchanged. Raila needs his partners to win, and they also need him to win. In a nutshell, I’m saying, NASA can only win in unity without which the Jubilee government can sit comfortable and wait for their second inauguration.

Several factors favor Raila as a safe bet for the opposition to guarantee an early win. In any elections, voter turnout is everything, NASA, as it stands, has a solid support base in the Nyanza and Western regions, and Coast is promising as well. The mentioned voting bloc are the greatest determinants in the opposition’s bucket. There’s a fatal risk of voter apathy in Odinga’s strongholds which is pivotal to a NASA win, point blank.

Odinga remains one of the few leaders in Kenya history with unfathomable grassroots mobilization a factor that came in handy when he campaigned for Kibaki while he was stuck in a wheelchair. Odinga is one of the countable politicians with the magic of consolidating support from regions outside his home turf. In a recent shocker, he was received by a large crowd in Meru during one of his visits. In the previous election, while the Jubilee duo left out other regions perceived to be hostile, Odinga took his campaigns across all the 47 counties.
Odinga’s relentless focus and consistent commitment to fighting corruption give him an upper hand above the rest in the anticipated fight against corruption and impunity. Real or Not, Raila has cut himself above the bar and is seen as the right anti-corruption warrior, This can be verified by the history. Cartels have this country by the balls, and the young leadership of UhuRuto has not only allowed them to thrive but given a conducive, flourishing environment for ‘business,’ it is estimated that close to Sh 1Trillion is lost to corruption annually. This money if out into real use, health crisis, youth unemployment amongst many other economies stagnating factors would be kicked right in the rear.

There’s a general feeling in the country is yearning for change, and Raila gives the face value of just that. A shift in paradigm from corrupt and incompetent leadership that has seen prices of essential commodities kicking off the roofs and cost of living becoming unbearable in the past four years. The economy in no diplomatic language has been raped in all holes.

The NASA Advisory Committee on selecting flagbearer have submitted a report settling RailaRaila as flagbearer. The last decision remains with the leaders who’ll either adopt the recommendations or do otherwise. There has been a consistent sound from the Jubilee end that only a Kalonzo and Mudavadi ticket would triumph against them bragging that a Raila ticket would earn them an early win. Lemme close on this by saying, when your enemy recommends to you the best weapon for you to defeat them with then my friend you should be completely worried. No one goes to war to lose. Ask yourself why they insist anyone but Raila can beat them because Raila is the biggest threat. Raila remains the best bet, but a United NASA is the ultimate bet for an early win.

  • IEBC’s Strong Resistance Towards Parallel Votes Tallying Raises Eyebrows On The Transparency And Credibility Of Polls

IEBC’s Strong Resistance Towards Parallel Votes Tallying Raises Eyebrows On The Transparency And Credibility Of Polls

NASA has made its position clear that they’ll be running a parallel tallying of votes from their nerve center to be stationed in Nairobi as a measure in counter checking the results of IEBC. The opposition has been instrumental advocating for the electoral body to deliver a credible and open election with rigging claims painted on IEBC. They’ve accused IEBC of being in bed with Jubilee in a grand scheme to steal the elections.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati has gone on record saying such a move won’t be tolerated as IEBC remains the sole body mandated to conduct and announce the elections results. It is not unusual that his sentiment has been echoed by the Jubilee quarter who are also against the idea of NASA running a parallel tallying center terming it unconstitutional.

Ironically, in the 2013 elections, Jubilee had a parallel tallying center which ran hand in hand with IEBC. During the elections petition, it was also revealed that Jubilee shared same servers with IEBC which they were accused of hijacking and eventually manipulating results. It is, therefore, laughable on their U- Turn on NASA plan to run the same system. By the way, you can take this to the bank that whether legal or not, Jubilee will still have a parallel tallying center this election.

No law objects parties or any entities interested in the election from compiling the results. If anything, parallel tallying will help to verify the end results announced by IEBC. Several local and international monitoring bodies shall be doing the same parallel tallying for counter verification and report compiling, this has been the norm all along. IEBC should not be scared if they have innocent intent in this election.

The results that will be relayed to the parallel tallying center are the same that will be announced by the Presiding or Returning officers in respective IEBC tallying centers and video evidence taken to accompany the same, so unless they intend to play monkey trade with the results them, there’s nothing really to be scared of?

That said, NASA and any other party planning to run a parallel tallying center must keep in mind that it is only IEBC that’s mandated to make final and official results. If they’ll use their data to make final tally and relay to the public and in a case differs with IEBC’s, then that will be a recipe for disaster. Parallel tallying should only be for ensuring a transparent, credible, open and verifiable election. Anything done outside the box will be in bad faith.

IEBC must not be scared of being held accountable and most importantly counter checked to deliver a transparent election. Kenya Insights has also learned of plans by the electoral body to disable from their online portal, live results transmission as it has been, besides there are also plans to ban media houses from running parallel and live votes transmission.

The secrecy and hideous tendencies by IEBC in this election are casting more doubts on transparency than ever. Citing security reasons is balderdash because of anything, The key to peace is conducting a free, fair, open, credible and verifiable election, anything outside that is like a kid playing with his father’s testicles, playing with fire. IEBC owed Kenya just one favor, and that’s not these blinding games; give incredibly credible poll, period!

  • For A Lasting Solution, Mombasa Doesn’t Need Anymore Ferry

For A Lasting Solution, Mombasa Doesn’t Need Anymore Ferry

The woes of commuters in Mombasa are not over despite the introduction of two new ferries launched by the President at the Mtongwe channel. Solutions to the problems bedeviling ferry users at the Mtongwe and Likoni channels have been proposed in various studies conducted by the government over the years.

They include reports presented to the Mtongwe Ferry Disaster Commission of Inquiry into the 1994 tragedy that claimed more than 250 lives after a vessel capsized.

The studies propose that bridge, a tunnel or a by-pass would provide an ideal solution to the congestion problem at the Kilindini Channel.

Recent incidents involving the stalling of ferries have raised questions as to why the government is not interested in implementing these recommendations.

For many years, the government has toyed with the idea of either building a bridge across the Likoni crossing or a by-pass at Port Reitz creek.

The media has frequently reported cases of stampedes due to congestion and near-disaster scenes at the channel. There is a need to put politics aside and examine the Likoni channel from a professional technical perspective to find a lasting solution.

We could copy the example of Japan, which had a strong taste of a technological breakthrough. This was prompted by a disaster in 1955 when two ferries sank in the Akashi Strait, killing 168 children.

It was a tragedy that sent the Japanese authorities back to the drawing board to prevent another tragedy. The government chose the option of a suspension bridge. Considering the challenges, the task seemed impossible.

First, the Akashi waterway experiences severe storms and earth tremors. The second problem was that the strait served as an international waterway, with hundreds of ships using the channel every day.

But the Japanese went ahead and built the mega-structure Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge. There was no need for politics or technophobia.

The Japanese started the bridge construction in April 1986. The government engaged thousands of engineers, civil works workforce, and contractors.

The result of this commitment was a relief from dangerous ferry crossings and a smooth ride on the world’s longest suspension bridge, which opened to the public in 1998.

The unique design can withstand earthquakes of a magnitude of up to 8.5 on the Richter scale, harsh sea currents, and strong stormy winds.

The suspension bridge has a clearance of approximately 67 meters, and any ship of any size can comfortably pass under the Akashi Bridge. Closer home, Tanzania has constructed the biggest suspension bridge in East Africa named after the founding father, Nyerere. The Kigamboni Bridge measuring 680M built at a $136M (Sh14B) links the Dar es Salaam City and has phased out the similar problems presented by ever failing ferries. The six-lane suspended bridge has significantly impacted tourism with eased movements. Kenya’s economy is comparatively above Tanzania’s.

    Tanzania’s Kigamboni Bridge

The officials at the Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) seem bent on avoiding technological advances. There is a need for a proactive plan and a clear focus on the future. The traffic (both human and vehicular) is increasing steadily. A short-sighted view of increasing the number of ferries crisscrossing the channel might boil into a conflict with the port operations considering that Likoni is a shipping gateway.

This challenge results in unprecedented congestion and delays. The situation is made worse by obsolete, inefficient, and risky ferries. Imagine the disaster if one of the ferries stalled midstream in the path of an incoming ship! If the number of ferries is reduced, as is frequently the case whenever they are taken out for maintenance, the risk of overloading is high.

There have been instances when commuters become impatient and disorderly. The human traffic regulation exercised by KFS can only be sustained by a continuously smooth dispatch of commuters by the ferries. A breach in practice spells danger.

Overloading contributed in part to the tragedy of mv Mtongwe in April 1994, in which more than 270 people drowned and hundreds of others were injured.

The Japanese tackled the challenge head-on, without corruption and political interference. Kenyans are facing a problem on the Likoni channel, but are always on the defensive with excuses that new ferries would be introduced. This should cause concern because the situation is a looming danger.

According to KFS plans, the Likoni channel will remain the same in the distant future. The corporation has maintained that studies have been carried out and that they ruled out the erection of a bridge. The reasons for this are not substantiated.

Could it be that some people want to maintain the status quo because it is benefiting some individuals currently, and this would not be the case if a long-term solution were sought?

Some suggestions have been floated about developing an alternative route — the Dongo Kundu bypass — to accommodate the increasing traffic. But there seems to be nothing being done to show that this could be considered seriously.

Marine experts and other players are still convinced that it’s only the proposed bypass at Dongo Kundu and the Likoni-Ukunda road near Ngombeni that will provide a permanent solution to the erratic ferry services connecting the North Coast and the South Coast, a marine expert has said. Experts say only three ferries are allowed to operate at a go to avoid accidents due to the turbulence of water caused by propellers of the vessels.

Increasing the number of ferries is not a solution since rules do not allow three ferries to dock on the ramp at the same time. Experts say that either a bridge at the Likoni crossing, a by-pass at Dongo-Kundu or both will solve the agony of crossing the Kilindini Channel using ferries.

Alternatively, an undersea cable or a suspended bridge would do a great deal in easing the congestion and challenges presented by consistent ferry failures in Mombasa. These delays often have a direct impact on the tourism sector with South Coast being a fertile field.

According to reports by Mombasa Governor, The French government had offered to fund and construct a bridge at the Likoni tunnel but for whatsoever reasons, The government frustrated the efforts by awarding a Japanese firm designing and construction tender. Years later there’s nothing much to write home. Being a political season, launching of projects at Mtongwe ferry which has been deliberately delayed since December, bags you political points but as a long term solution, Mombasa needs bridges more than it needs the ferries.

  • The President Needs Help

    The President Needs Help

Effervescent, blithesome, gratifying, comical and sidesplitting politics is what attracts people in Kenya political rallies and unfortunately not attraction to promises in manifestos. That applies to all political parties and incumbents. The political campaign drums are drastically changing as August 8th polls draw nearer, it is now hard-hitting tantrums tactics on President’s critics through insults and security force to be silenced down to the ground.

“The Head of State should know that even under pressure, the presidency Must not be seen using force to make policy. He cannot look helpless in the face of the looting public coffers but look animated when fighting citizens, Doctors who are pursuing legitimate concern”-Cyprian Nyamwamu. The statement made by the Human Rights Activist is indisputable, it is authentic, but President’s Muppets will dispute and twist the statement to protect their master.

The son of Jomo in his Turkana and Coast region tour has seemed to be losing some manners, or maybe he is running amock. He is a well-known to be having drinking problems a matter largely discussed on various platforms. In his recent political rallies, he has become hyper, in a super-abnormal state of angriness that could fry french fries. Mindset together with terms uttered only can come from mouth of a graduate of normally consumed substance to something more lethal. He seemed to have exactly done that. Misplaced priorities! A sober mind won’t stand on his two feet to chest-thumb and refer to his fellow incumbent as foolish because he needs clarification on matters related to the public affair so as to be seen a strong and tough soul. A sign of a feeble mind and worrying end one-term Presidency.

It kept me wondering if Mr. President was a top performing student in school during his time but after research, it was clear to me that he was an Academic dwarf, but that didn’t stop him from becoming the President being that he was rigged as largely believed. When in Mombasa he accused Governor Joho of prodigalizing Kshs 40billion given to his government from the National government unaccountably. He failed the simple math.According to National Treasury, highest county beneficiary in every financial year which is Nairobi receives Ksh 15.3billion and least receives Ksh 2.5billion that’s Lamu. Mombasa receives Ksh 6.5billion, do the math by four years it amounts to Ksh26 billion plus the fifth year it is still less and so where does 40billion come from? Someone is hallucinating, or someone none other than Finance CS Henry Rotich played some monkey business. Someone between the two; CS Henry Rotich and Governor Joho should have been held accountable but with Joho evidently dismissing Uhuru’s claim left Henry Rotich in the trap if he played some hullabaloo.

Under the constitution and Devolved Government system, any Governor is eligible to attend any event that may be in his/her territory, and that might have an impact on her/her people’s lives and requires no invitation not unless its an opposition political function then Governor’s power is limited. What Son of Jomo did to Mombasa Governor 001 Hassan Ali Joho by restraining him using GSU officers and confining him under house arrest when he toured the county to witness relaunch of Mtongwe Ferry Services was inappropriate and dictatorial act and decision of a fearful baboon in the forest but on the other hand a credit to Joho’s political mileage and a discredit to Uhuru’s governance.

The question many still ask, is he being misadvised that this is the best toughness-strategy or is he under stress being that the nation is in turmoil over multiple crises? Mutahi Ngunyi in his miserably articulated and propaganda clouded analysis with mediocre ‘analysts’ YouTube series, recently advised the President to tighten the noose and be as ruthless to dissidents as possible. The academic fraud who looted millions from the NYS believes in his theory that a dictatorial and venom spewing Uhuru is what the country needs. Factoring in this being an electioneering year where the country is at a stroke away from eruption, peace and cohesion must be prioritized and leaders as Uhuru need to train their tongue to avoid polarizing and shooting up the country’s temperature.

It is indeed ironical that the same President who has been on record advocating for objective and insults free politicking is now the master of savage and a denigrate machine.

Senior public servants in public offices are ever in fear of President’s directive and not respect of the President’s directive amounting to a high level of injustices since they are all controlled and commanded by the Order from above due to conflict of self-interest and not the law.

Presidential meetings have turned into campaign battlefields instead of being ad hoc meetings as mandated by the law under the new constitution together with the trio Cabinet secretaries-Dr.Fred Matiang’i (Education CS), Mwangi Kiunjuri(Devolution and Planning) and Charles Keter(Energy) illegally engaging in politics to please the master.Head of State reads his twenty minutes written speech but spends two hours clashing with critics instead of showing Kenyans way forward to curb; the long-term drought menace, ongoing Baringo-Laikipia bandits, street drug dealing by barons in Coast. After misusing Coast Regional Coordinator Marwa in claimed fight against drugs has now been abandoned.During Mr.President’s Coast tour I expected him and his team to parade or announce Coast region Drug Lords since its the most affected of all parts but unluckily due to self-interest he was parading his three years ago Coastal politicians defectors. How did that bring positive impact to the lives of Coastians?

I felt so much irritated and at the same time sympathized with Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro whom with all my might believed he was the real deal, unlike the Sheesha-man National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi after lying to Kenyans on live television in defense to the president’s misconduct.Even a fool would detect his lies; litmus papers would react to water. He rejected President’s statement when he stated,’ some fool think now I want to steal Turkana oil’ meant he was referring to someone else somewhere and not Governor Nanok who raised the alarm and President responded by referring to him as a fool who thinks he wants to lavish Turkana oil. He went ahead to worsen state with his lies by indirectly supporting the involvement of trio Cabinet Secretaries in politics legal when law doesn’t allow any Cabinet secretary to involve in politics. Angry Citizens wished they could drag Ekwe Ethuro to their level and deal with him strategically. Why mudslinging your dignity for the sake of protecting a barbaric master? Its now clear both houses of legislators lacks sanity and are incompetent.

I give Credit where it’s deserved

The solid 2013 tyranny of numbers is melting down. If he apologizes to Kenyans, cool down his abnormal temperature and abstain from using marijuana, the dissolved solid particles might freeze again. His statement have ignited flames, but concerned authorities will dismiss and protect him together with his affiliates but worst of all if one mole of opposition incumbent dares insult, it will be hate speech and will face hell in the cell. Someone is unfair and a hypocrite about engineering democracy.

Son of Jomo seems again to be possessed by his Godfather Daniel Arap Moi and his father’s spirits of angriness and assassinating their critics. In October 25 1969 when his father Jomo Kenyatta, the first President of Kenya, went to Kisumu to launch Russia hospital currently Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital he threatened the crowd which heckled him that “Nitawasiaga siaga kama unga”-I will crush you like flour, ‘and at some point history says there was an open fire of shoot to kill, some were killed with several injured.Recently Uhuru Kenyatta threatened Joho,”Nitakunyorosha ukicheza a mini”- ‘You continue joking with me, I will deal with you.’I won’t be surprised if, anything malicious or unusual happen to the Governor.

Joho is becoming too much of an opportunist. Is he losing track or he is just on the right path?

Concerning public affairs, anger is the first choice in a closed mind but a wise man who believes in democracy will think of negotiating, mediating, deliberating or arbitrating.

  • With A Unified NASA, The Election Is For Jubilee To Lose

With A Unified NASA, The Election Is For Jubilee To Lose

The Nasa brigades are having a hard time picking their flag bearer, and all the four principal are fighting for this position. Each and every day they exhilarate and excite their supports about their chances of winning. But who is the best option? Who will be easy to sell to the coalition supporters and who can accept to sacrifice for the larger good?

This is no mean tasks, but a lot of sacrifices are needed if any of them has to achieve anything in the long run either this election or the next election. The truth is neither of them can produce anything reasonable if he goes it alone.

In the event that Kalonzo decides to go alone, he will automatically ensure the re-election of President Kenyatta and burns his bridges with Raila supports since he will be doing that for the second time. Of cause, his supports are loyal to him and will vote for him but they cannot win him the presidency alone he will have to join hand with other people and to go against Raila this year will ensure that the whole Odinga support base is moved. Even if he contests in 2022, they are likely not to support him.

In the scenario that Raila steps down and supports Kalonzo, what are the chances of the opposition uniting under him and carrying the day in the election?

First, if this happens Raila will have first to make a nationwide tour convincing his supporters that this was the best deal and it’s for the best and that no one forced him to make that decision or placed a gun on his head to accept it. After that then it’s when he will have to mount a campaign to ensure that Kalonzo wins and this will be against an already united opponent who also happens to be in the government. And with only four months to an election, I consider this a very unwise move.

And in the event that Kalonzo accept to play second fiddle to Raila for the second time he will just need to go to his eastern backyard and tell them that its second half the game is always 90 minutes. After all, they had supported him just 5 years ago it won’t be hard to sell and if well negotiated he will be sure that in the event they lose he will have the whole Odinga’s support in 2022.

As for Musalia, he will just have to settle in and find a way to play the third in line after all he just joined the opposition the other day. Though you can never underestimate how important he is.

But they can all contest and ensure that President Uhuru does not achieve 50+1 hence a runoff will be needed after which they unit behind the second person but this is an enormous gamble but nothing is impossible in politics and four months is a lot of time, much will be done and much is likely to surprise us.

But the truth is unless the opposition unite and mobilize their bases effectively this election is still for Jubilee to lose.
