  • Uhuru Must Replace The Rejected Ambassadors By Host Country With Competent Kenyans

Uhuru Must Replace The Rejected Ambassadors By Host Country With Competent Kenyans

Ambassadorial posts like many other parastatal appointments have been largely awarded on political weighing as opposed to merits. International relations is an important aspect of any country’s growth that’s why serious country’s only assign career diplomats to such duties.

However, in Kenya such posts more often are awarded to political rejects who’re given the positions as reward for sycophancy. It now emerges that seven ambassadors of Kenya have been denied accreditation by their host countries given their tainted records in Kenya.

Though the government has been trying behind the scenes to resolve the unprecedented diplomatic development on the postings, it would appear Russia, Turkey, Austria, China, Malaysia, Namibia and Qatar have rejected the new envoys.

And six months after being vetted by Parliament and consequently appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta, the seven; Ndegwa Muhoro (Malaysia), Hassan Wario (Austria), Benjamin Langat (Namibia), Johnson Kimani Ondieki (Turkey), Richard Ekai (Russia), Sarah Serem (China) and Paddy Ahenda (Qatar) have yet to report to their foreign duty stations.

Other appointments said to have run into the rare diplomatic headwinds include that of ambassador to the European Union (EU) Phyllis Kandie, who was later replaced by former Cabinet colleague Prof Jacob Kaimenyi.

This is a clear manifest that the so called vetting processes conducted in Kenya are just a farce and that other countries prioritize integrity. It still baffles me how someone like Ndegwa Muhoro successfully went through the vetting process despite having an immensely controversial record while he was the DCI.

Here’s a man who was at the center of extrajudicial killings including unresolved murders of many including businessman Jacob Juma whom many believe was assassinated by the state and IEBC’s ICT Director Chris Musando. Not to mention a heap of corruption accusations labeled against him including the land grabbing of Tatu City.

It therefore doesn’t come as a surprise that Muhoro’s former position as Directorate of Criminal Investigations, might have worked against his appointment as ambassador to Malaysia.

Apparently, Malaysian government has blocked his appointment citing his alleged blighted record during his tenure at Mazingira House, the DCI headquarters.

During his vetting process by the National Assembly, Muhoro whose first appointment to Israel as an envoy did not materialise, was confronted with allegations of spate of extra-judicial killings and unsolved high-profile murders during his tenure. Malaysian government under the new tough Prime Minister Mahathir Bin Mohamad blocked the former sleuth’s ambassadorial job.

Another crook who doesn’t deserve to hold any public office is Hassan Wario, the Former Sports CS Wario’s appointment may have run into trouble after he was charged together with Olympics legend Kipchoge Keino over the Sh55 million Rio Olympic graft scandal. His case is still pending in court.

Honestly, these are the peiple expected to represent the face of Kenya in the host countries and they walk in with taunted images? What will this say about Kenya? Malaysia for instance has been a safe hum for many corrupt Kenyans who hide their wealth and then you purport to fight corruption and assign a more corrupt individual like Muhoro to represent the country?

The President Must now live by his words, he recently said that none of those implicated in corrupt cases would be allowed to occupy public offices. This is the perfect time for Uhuru to cut links with his corrupt friends. We have able Kenyans who’re experienced diplomats to fill those voids. More time must not be wasted.

Muhoro and his group of unworthy choices must be immediately discharged to retirement. The country won’t stop running because a few monkeys fell off the tree. President Must now prove a point on what he really stands for.

  • Why Wilkins Fadhili Will Get Away With Everything

Why Wilkins Fadhili Will Get Away With Everything

The 2013 block buster ‘wolf of wallstreet’ was a hit that aimed to caution the young and money obsessed individuals on quick and dirty tricks to earn money. Instead, it served as a blue print to escape poverty by any means. Taking advantage of grey areas and loop holes in the constitutions, many young and old people learnt tricks on how to fake it and make it across the globe. Faking lavish lifestyles, talking like super hustlers and posing to inspire the young and gullible.

Survey shows that out of three young people, one is most likey to be living under pressure to present themselves as having a ‘perfect’ life on social media. This is what the coning pair, Wilkins Odinga Fadhili and Ruth Ambogo took advantage of. Wilkins chose to be a fake brand strategist, developer and his bae, Ruth Ambogo who came to some sort of limelight through Daughters of Raila campaign team was posing as a successful young lady, below 25 years of age. What she succeeded on is yet to be known.

Ambogo has been taking advantage of the unsuspecting young people, posing as one within their age bracket who has made it. She has organised seminars and workshops, coned young and extended to rip on githeri media that does no background check. If she was not elsewhere coning the youth in the company of Fadhili, she would be the slay in television interviews slotted between soap operas or naija movies because that’s when many gullible kids in their late teens and mid tweenties are watching. ‘Motivating’ and talking as one who made through hardwork but what did she make it on? nothing but fakery.

Ambogo and Fadhili were enroute to enjoying the heroic status like that of a successful athlete, a musician or business person. She was nearly becoming a female Myles Monroe. Only that her motivation was fake and in her head she was living her dream, mid day dreams. Both of them were nominated for funny awards as the most promising under 25s. Are they under 25? Ambogo smears anything in her face to seal pot holes and wrinkes to atlease resemble a young person but even a mad man will tell you that that bae is over thirty and counting.

Back at home they were having living together and having sex, which is allowed if anything they are two very old people thinking of their 40s. With age advancing and world changing, it’s like Wilkins was running short of tricks to keep the coning business a float and you know romance without finance is not easy with a slay as your bae. Their thing was hitting rock bottom, reports were doing rounds that Wilkins was moving from one girl’s house to the next. Sources close to the couple revealed to K.I that Ambogo was getting tired of Wilkins but still had a feeling that his coning tricks would make a big killing.

He was under duress, people he had coned or borrowed money from were blowing his phones, he was not landing on new preys, the ‘business’ was literally bad for him and like any other slay, Ambogo was becoming impatient. When Fadhili’s trick to con Larry Madowo (a journalist) failed and Larry bursted him, Ambogo took that as an opportune time to distance herself from her man. She wasn’t lucky though, netizens were on her with water tight eveidence that tied them together.

First coning couple of 2019. Look at where faking has put them, if these guys were real, their friendship would stand the test of time and hardship. No law bars one from being nominated for awards, you actually create your own, nomiated yourself and even award yourself. They faked it to this level. With conversations over millions in public while back at home they argued over tomatoes and secretly went through each others phones. Trust was at its all time low.

Ambogo was faker,  distancing herself when Wilkins was bursted is why, “Fake friends are like shadows: always near you at your brightest moments, but nowhere to be seen at your darkest hour. True friends are like stars, you don’t always see them but they are always there.” – Habeeb Akande.

  • From Governor Joho’s school of politics comes Hon.Moses A. Oindo ‘The Youth Commander’

From Governor Joho’s school of politics comes Hon.Moses A. Oindo ‘The Youth Commander’

    By Kenya Insights reporter

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho was last weekend in a tour of western Kenya attending a series of fundraisers and sort of meet the people tour in a couple of places in that region. If you allow me, i will say he was on a charm offensive of the region. Dp Ruto has been frequenting Western and Central Kenya donating millions in churches to seal his spot a head of 2022. In a style his own, Sultan 001 threw salvos at the DP forcing his foot soldiers to respond in hurried pressers.

Governor Joho did not respond to Dp Ruto’s boys, instead he went on holding fundraisers but in his entourage one could not miss to notice the future Kenyan politics. His team was full of young politicians, most noticeable was nominated MCA Hon. Moses Aran Oindo a.k.a Cv’lizer or Youth Commander as he is commonly reffered to by his supporters.

Cv’lizer’s was the star of the tour and in his address he acknowledged Governor Joho as is mentor and political professor. The budding politician spoke with bravado sending chills down knees of his competitors. He made it a somber day for quite a number of rising politicians who are waiting to be spoon fed. ‘I’m a student from Joho school of politics’ the young law maker said, donning a Joho branded t-shirt. The crowd went bezerk.

Governor Joho was mentored by the former premier, Rt. Hon Raila Odinga among other politicians as Busia Governor Sospeter OJaamon and Ababu Namwamba among others. Seasoned and career politicians have aided the creation of inclusive and representative political system with underlying mission of participation reforms. Time proven, party chiefs have done commendable job at identifying and nurturing emerging politicians to fill their void at times of retirement or serve in other elective positions. ‘Joho school of politics’ could be doing just that and his top student is not disappointing. Moi’s school identified and nurtured the president of the day, H.E Uhuru Kenyatta.

Cvlizer is fast growing with populist and nationalist sentiment, which is a common thing in politics in both sides of the Atlantic. Studies have shown. While some may argue that today populists are social media savvy ….so what? It’s what you do off the cameras and off the courts that make you worthy of the people’s support. The support online and offline that Cv’lizer enjoys is a result of the real work he is putting on the ground. Community Library through his foundation is complete, disadavantaged kid are in school and a couple musical talents are in mentorship programs.

It is unwritten law today that to actively engage with your supporters you need active social media accounts. He is making good use of social media, directly connecting with his constituents, closely aligning with the corner stone of populism; “ruled by the people”. ‘Similarly, social media makes it possible for anyone’s voice to be elevated, not just pundits and plutocrats’ finds Hendrickson and Galston. This, when coupled with constructive projects inspire good following and elevates one above sleeping giants.

Moses has evolved into a more forceful politician and youth leader than most of his peers and even some sitting politicians from the coastal region today. He is the only one who had the guts to tell off renegades Malindi Mp. Aisha Jumwa and Msambweni’s Suleiman Dori who are facing expulsion from ODM party not to blame their woes on Governor Joho. He keeps steady on his path and has not forgoten where his star started to shine, he is Governor Joho’s stonge supporter.

Larry Stone, a democratic fundraiser in California says ‘You’ve really got to secure your base before you start off to do other things’. Cv’lizer has his base locked, not verbaly but with real projects that inspire hope and development. As he wanders off with the governor, he leaves people only with options to direct him on positions to go for in 2022. ‘Mhesh ingia bunge, mhesh ingia senate, mhesh mhesh….’  and the list is endless. Yes, people support him that much in Mombasa though he has not declared what he will go for in 2022.

‘Joho school’ must be churning out fully baked students. Moses has transformed a great deal, from a mere youth leader to a unifying factor in Mombasa. He recently had a handshake with young leaders from other political factions in the county and in a presser he promised to work with other young leaders for the good of the county. ‘Peace, unity and development’ he emphasized.

  • The Rise and Rise of Laying, an Occupation for The Beauties Without Brains

The Rise and Rise of Laying, an Occupation for The Beauties Without Brains

No one finds life worth living, you make it worth in order to survive in this world where you can be anything you resolve to be. Our girls are resolving to be slays over any other career you can think of. There are no statistics to back this but i think the most sort after careers in Kenya today are slaying and procurement. It’s a blind race, many who choose to slay are running from poverty not aware of where they are running to. These crop of young girls and still sexy women dont buy the anology that little drops of water and grains of sand make the mighty ocean and pleasant land.

They are not hard to notice, graduating slays are small girls below 25 but listening to rhumba. They embrace near bad girl attitude, always with a packet of cancer sticks because they believe its sexy to smoke when waiting for sponsors, when arguing with cab drivers or whenever its time to go ratchet, smash and rob. This is what life has become, while conning men chest thumb with briefcase companies, light skin and bootylicious women have their offices between their legs (kra should find a way of taxing slays).

Many are making a living this way or beginning like this and get to greater heights. There are quite a number of female honourable members who took shots in their bottoms to rise to the top, I mean from selling or sleeping on bedsheets to sitting in boardrooms and now to making love and laws. Yes and you can only achieve that if you stay loyal to one or two sponsors.

If anything this is not an easy occupation, sponsors can drop a slay anytime especially if the slay is young and naive or if she tries to play smart with miscalculated or if her supporting documents shed off in this industry where bootylicious and light skin women dominate the market. A sponsor can look like anything or faceless so long as the pockets are deep.

But who is to blame, harsh economic times, unemployment or lack of female role models? Most of the women in senior government positions have no inspirational and complete family set ups that can positively inspire young girls who may be looking upto to them. If its not some story of messy and noisy divorce, it’s a story of old single and having fun or loving whoever and whatever, partying and kicking with small boys or the husband has just been reduced to a near woman kind of figure who can be disrespected at will.

We have heard of many female lawmakers or ministers who phisically abuse or disrespect their have not husbands. Former nominated senator Elizabeth Ongoro made news on this. Look at the stories about Martha Karua, Prof.Olive Mugenda, Rachel Shebesh and Pasaris among others.

Some respected female lawmakers who chair or sit in powerful committees in parliament share sipping straws. Pathetic. I mean the female law makers who made the little known Wazir Chacha the man of the year 2018. An entire whatsapp group where Sabina Chege must have been the admin, all sipped the young man’s thick juice.

What message does that send to our young girls? Some women in serious leadership also come out as ‘male women’, not just with the vibrating baritone but to what they speak in public and how they conduct themselves, ladies like Jumwa you know, untamed Millie Odhiambo to Caro Mutoko, an all time slay who preaches water and sips wine.

She confirms that slays are mostly beautiful and brainless girls but a few scholars and professionals also make money from this dirty game. This list is dominated by media girls with a few exceptions, the likes of Lilian Muli, Jackie Wanjiru, Kamene Goro the ratchet queen, Betty, Grace and K. Nyamu. These are slays with lucrative careers.

The only slays who come clean are socialites, every young girls dream. They pioneer as instagram models, the next thing they are in some rapper’s music video, smashes with the same rapper, his friends and producer, dumps one of them via blog then theynmove to hanging with promotors then first MPs and then becomes an house hold name socialite/slay queen. Vera Sidika and Hudda Monroe must be doing a great job.

  • Violet Kemunto: The Changing Face Of Terror And Why Now Al Shabaab Targets The Young And Educated Men And Women For Recruitment In Kenya

Violet Kemunto: The Changing Face Of Terror And Why Now Al Shabaab Targets The Young And Educated Men And Women For Recruitment In Kenya

How does a country deal with Al-Shabaab returnees, home grown terrorism and an increasing attractiveness of young people who don’t come from disadvantaged backgrounds to extremism? These are the challenges Tuesday’s attack at dusitD2 hotel complex has presented Kenya’s security apparatus. The revelation that those who executed the attack and part of the planning are locals has sent shock waves across the country on why a bunch of Kenyans would plan the slaughter of their fellow countrymen on orders from across the border. An affidavit filed in court by the Anti-Terror Police Unit seeking detention of five people showed that Ali Salim Gichunge and Violet Kemunto, believed to have played a key role in planning the attack, were being faclilitated from Somalia.

“A quick perusal of their phone numbers shows they were in constant communication with several contacts in Somalia,” said the affidavit filed by Inspector Monica Githaiga.Although local terror cells have been used on several occasions to carry out attacks, Tuesday’s was the first of such a grand scale to be planned and executed by Kenyans. This shows a change in strategy by Al-Shabaab which has previously sent Somali nationals from their ranks to carry out a big hit.

The Westgate and Garrisa University attacks, which stand out as being on almost a similar scale in terms of strategy and execution, were led by fighters who had crossed the border from Somalia. Additionally, the two biggest names associated with the attack, Gichunge and Kemunto, have broken the stereotypic view and the long standing association of ethnic Somalis to terrorism by Kenyans. While distancing themselves from terrorists, residents of Eastleigh who closed their shops for an hour on Friday to honour those who died at dusitD2, said Somalis and Muslims are peaceful and do not advocate such killings.“The community is here to say no to terrorism, no to extremism and no to violence.

Al-Shabaab do not enjoy any support from this community. They do not represent or talk on our behalf,” said Kamkunji MP Yusuf Hassan.“We are not Al Shabaab, neither do they speak for us. We do not agree with their ideology of killing innocent people. Eastleigh is not a hub for terrorists. We will find them and flush them out,” vowed Yusuf.

    Backfiring moves

When Kenya deployed its forces into Somalia and offered to train some of the distressed country’s soldiers, it had no idea that the move would set it on a collision course with an enemy it had set out to annihilate. As the Somali soldiers were getting their training at Archer’s Post, some 70 kilometres from Isiolo Town and at Manyani in Taita Taveta, another training of sorts was going on. Young Kenyan men and women were being lured by the same enemy the government was trying to keep off.

And this time, it was different. The enemy switched it up a bit and went to the very core of society, convincing and recruiting from the very heart of the communities. One of these men and women was Gichunge, whose face his family says, had been away from them for years, only to resurface on CCTV footage as one of the attackers in the bloody Riverside attack that led to the death of dozens. At the time, Isiolo was one of Al-Shabaab’s fertile recruiting grounds.

Hundreds of youth, according to intelligence sources, had been recruited from here. Those recruited include high school students. Some youth, including university students, had also been reported to have disappeared. And this was not the only change in strategy. Although the psychology of the recruit remained the same, their sociology too changed. From recruiting the downtrodden and poorly educated, recruiters trained their eyes on well-educated children from well off families.

The situation is similar in Marsabit, where the now famous ‘Mount Marsabit Warriors’ were lured into Somalia by a teacher who graduated from Garissa University. To date, the whereabouts of the five boys and three girls as well as their female teacher remain unknown. Isiolo County Directorate of Criminal Investigation Raphael Wawire said Gichunge hails from Isiolo, and is one of the many youths lured away by Al-Shabaab.

Former Isiolo County Commissioner George Natembeya, who is now in the same capacity in Narok, had in 2016 said that scores of youth had been recruited into the terror group, but some had come back.Yussuf Dogo of Friends of Nomads International (Foni), an NGO that works in northern Kenya counties, said Al-Shabaab had devised “known ways” (recruiting non-Somalis and Coastal) to disguise its campaign to carry out terror attacks.

The reality that Al-Shabaab can now use Kenyans to carry out such large scale attacks and that terrorism can no longer be related to a certain community or lack of economic opportunities is what experts say is the changing face of terror. Kemunto, a journalism graduate from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), has continued an emerging pattern of educated individuals who are increasingly joining terror groups.

A study, Violent extremism in Kenya: Why women are a priority, conducted by the Institute for Security Studies in Africa last year said that least 58 students have abandoned universities to join terrorist groups in Somalia, Libya and Syria in the last three years. One of the masterminds of the Garrissa University massacre in 2015, Abdirahim Mohamed, was studying to be a lawyer at the University of Nairobi. On February 2016, police arrestedHassanaen Ahmed, a University of Nairobi biochemistry student, as he was reportedly leaving the country to travel to Libya to join the Islamic State group.

Later in May that year, Gloria Kavaya, a microbiology student at Kenyatta University, was also arrested after she disappeared from school, changed her name and embarked on what police said were plans to travel to Syria.“The stand out fact from this week’s attack is that the Al-Shabaab has proven that it is still around and it is able to recruit beyond the ethnic Somali base,” says James Ndung’u, a security expert.

    Returnees dilemma

“What should worry security stake holders is how fast Al Shabaab can evolve to new challenges like opting to use locals when it can no longer send fighters across the border due to strong counter terrorism measures by the Kenyan government,” he observes.Ndung’u says one factor making it easy for the Al-Shabaab to recruit from within Kenya is the inability by government to effectively integrate returnees, which means most of them do not completely cut links with the terror group.

This view is also shared by the Institute of Security Studies (ISS) which says while the government has several programmes meant to support the returnees who wish to be reintegrated back to society, the reality is most of them fear getting arrested if they come out.“Returnee support for the programme has been limited by their fear and mistrust of the government and its security agencies. Returnees simply stay clear,” says ISS in a research paper published recently.

  • Ezekiel Mutua Suddenly Loves A Gay Man

Ezekiel Mutua Suddenly Loves A Gay Man

If there’s one public officer who has been an excellent bothersome and a nuisance to creativity in Kenya then it’s the KFCB’s boss Ezekiel Mutua, a known self centered man with ego bigger than our Chinese debts, the film’s board CEO has killed morale of production in this country thanks to his fake moral standards.

I’ve lost count on the number of videos and films Mutua has banned in the name of maintaining moral levels. Just the other day, he banned Rafiki a lesbian love story, the film went ahead and won big international awards and is set for an Oscars nominations after Kenyan court uplifted the ban.

Mutua banned the film saying it was promoting homosexuality something he terms unacceptable in the Kenyan society. Christened moral police, Mutua has been a butt of jokes given most of bizarre statements that he makes, neither recently made international headlines when he accused tourists of teaching lions gay tendencies when a gay lion was discovered in Nairobi Park.

If we’re to dedicate this on the fallacious statements Mutua has made, we’d need a whole book. Mutua has been harsh critic of homosexuality and has been shouting on the top of his lungs against the topic that has had him ban a number of good films inline demoralizing and killing creativity in the film industry.

In the backdrop of all the homosexuals bashing, the attention courting executive surprised many when he came into the defense of JCC for hosting and allowing CNN’s Richard Quest to use the church’s pulpit. Quest is a publicly confessed gay with a partner he stays with both in New York and London where homosexuality is accomodated.

Comments from Kenyans criticized the acceptance of Quest into the church saying it was a show of double standards and hypocrisy on the church since they’ve never given any local a such a chance despite the fact that there are many open gay men and women on Kenya. It is the white mans complex that’s being said to have given the visiting journalist an upper hand and even earned him support from unexpected corner and that’s from Mutua.

    Below is what Ezekiel Mutua said on Quest’s church appearance;

So guys are on Rev. Kathy and Bishop Kiuna for letting CNN top journalist Richard Quest into their church today, after his confessed gay lifestyle? Honestly? In my view Quest’s visit to the Jubilee Christian Church today and his interview with Rev. Kathy Kiuna is one of the highlights of his visit, besides his coverage of the KQ inaugural flight to New York tonight and the Mpesa revolution.

If Quest’s main mission was to highlight life changing ventures and innovations in Kenya, then today he was in the right place. Rev. Kathy and Bishop Kiuna are the true exemplification of the Kenyan spirit of self-belief, resilience, hard work and faith. They have conquered many odds to be who they are today.

Like or hate them, the Kiunas have influenced millions. No one can deny the fact that the Kiunas have given hope to many youths. Theirs is the true story of audacity of hope. Such are the unique stories that need to be highlighted about Kenya. Quest may be gay, but he is a top notch journalist who can sense newsworthy stories with unique angles.

The Kenya Film Classification Board cleared him and provided gratis licenses for his entire crew because we trusted in his professional ability to highlight the real stories about Kenya and her people. His sexual orientation has nothing to do with his work. Let him be. Let the Kiunas be. Quest was not in church to sell gay ideology. He was there to cover a story of resilience and hope. He chose to highlight variant topics of hope and determination and that is a good thing.

Mutua strikes as a man of double speak and you can be so sure he wouldn’t have such a detailed justification we’re it that a gay Kenyan did the same. All said, there’s nothing wrong at all in having Quest at the church, that’s besides the point, all that’s needed is everyone to make a stand and accept everyone as they’re regardless of race, sexuality and all other dynamics. If you don’t conform, you make a solid stand and don’t move with the wind like a leaf in this case Mutua.

  • Dear DPP Noordin Why Is Kenya Pipeline MD Joe Sang A Free Man With Looting Evidences

Dear DPP Noordin Why Is Kenya Pipeline MD Joe Sang A Free Man With Looting Evidences

Nobody can stop reggae when it comes to the new DJ in town, DPP Haji but it seems somebody can reduce the volume. We’ve seen parastatals chiefs arrested and arraigned in courts over corruption scandals and consequently bundled out of office.

Kenya Pipeline’s top management led by MD Ken Tarus whom were engaged in lightening embezzlement of public funds and abuse of office, were all arrested and sent home. It was the last large scale arrest that did not only restore hopes in the ODPP but gave a relief to the public who’re the victims of corporate exploitation.

Billions have been siphoned out of Kenya Pipeline and scams endlessly exposed. This site has been consistent together with other publications in highlighting the high scale siphoning and loofingbof public funds at the KPC offices.

KPC MD Joe Sang who’s a relative to the Energy CS and who’s appointment has been challenged with petitioners saying it wasn’t procedural and out of nepotism, is a man in focus not only over his overnight wealth acquisition but his network within the company that has now been losing billions to the cartels.

According to an intelligence report KPC MD Joe Sang-Nephew Hillary Langat 0722957996 is the lead money collector for KPC MD whose phone contacts can be traced to all KPC supplier who have been paid or awarded contracts.

He’s net worth is over a billion under KIMBELL INVESTMENTS Limited and LENKIM SERVICES LTD he hold the property on behalf of KPC MD JOE SANG

It doesn’t make any logical sense why the DPP is taking time and giving more time to KPC crooks to cook and evade their net. Sang continues to slay on tv screens denying corruption allegations in a standard style of all corrupt officials.

According to our sources both at the DCI and at KPC, detectives had already raided the KPC offices and collected crucial evidences that would’ve been useful in preparing a case.

DCI Kinoti is on record saying the investigations are underway and one wonders why it hasn’t taken the speed of NYS thatbhad suspects rounded up in a short while. The thieves involved in the KPC theft that’s the top management are all known.

A serious lobbying has been going on behind the scenes as we gather from our sources to have the authorities go down on the investigations. Senior politicians both in Goverment and on retirement from Kalenjin, have been lobbying for the MD and tip management mostly the same community, to be spared and from the looks, the talks are paying off. Nothing is being heard of the investigations.

A number of DCI sources had intimated to Kenya Insights a few weeks ago on the completion of investigations and how all the files were ready and forwarded to the ODPP for arrests orders before cold water went over the case.

We’re now urging and reminding the DPP and DCI that we have our eyes on this case and other corruption scandals thriving in the public offices to be taken into full considerations. We want to assume that your competent offices haven’t been swallowed into petty political bargaining to let thieves go free.

It will be high class of double standards to implement the law selectively and go against your words that there are no sacred cows. We also would want EACC not to just watch from the fence but deeply scrutinize the wealth of KPC top bars. A lifestyle audit will unearth major scams in the company.

Sear Noordin, we want to see the Sangs and mysterious lads in the KPC looting like David Muge aka MR.MD and every single person who’s stolen a cent at Kenya Pipeline, Arrested and arraigned in the courts. We don’t want to see criminal characters running key parastatals as KPC. We therefore demand for arrest and successful prosecution of MD Sang and his henchmen who must immediately be sacked. No sacred cow, you said Mr. Haji, over to you sir. We’re watching. The hashtag is #ArrestJoeSang

  • Squandering Goodwill: DPP Noordin Haji Should Choose If He’s Working For Uhuru Or Kenyans.

Squandering Goodwill: DPP Noordin Haji Should Choose If He’s Working For Uhuru Or Kenyans.

Yesterday Kenyans were disgusted to see our mother Philomena Mwilu being arraigned in court over frivolous charges, even when the real criminals are just moonlighting across 5-Star hotels in Kenya.

This comes under the back-drop of last year’s incident, where her driver was shot dead, by elements believed to be working with the Jubilee regime last year, something which indicates that she’s a marked woman.

The response to this persecution has been overwhelming with top lawyers lining up in the defence of the Deputy Chief Justice, with prominent critics like David Ndii and Miguna Miguna casting aspersions on the character and professional impropriety of the DPP.

That this case had been purposely “leaked” to Githeri Media Nation Media Group, shows that it was being manipulated from Statehouse, because the notorious media house editorial policy is drawn up from there.

The DPP and the DCI need to figure out of they are working for President Uhuru Kenyatta or the Constitution of Kenya. Uhuru can be a very petty and vindictive character who reacts on the slightest impulse, and his input to such important offices can be catastrophic. We remember vividly his threat to the Judiciary when he yelled publicly under the influence of alcohol that “we shall revisit”.

We cannot have someone who is as emotional and irrational as Uhuru, tainting the independent offices of the DPP and DCI.

I also remember when Mike Sonko was setting up Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, he expressly said that Uhuru is controlling/manipulating arrests. What nonsense is this?

DCJ Mwilu when she appeared in court while flanked with a team of 32 senior lawyers led by SC Orengo, Khaminwa, Kalonzo amongst others.

DPP cannot purport to arrest the Deputy Chief Justice, as Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru cat-walks free, as she writes intimidating letters to the EACC, as if they report to her. Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) the most corrupt institution in Kenya, cannot purport to be pursuing Philomena Mwilu over peanuts, yet sham “investors” like Vimal Shah and Somali businessmen are evading taxes in the billions.

If you want goodwill, go for known villains. Don’t lump fictitious charges on soft-targets who are victims of the political alignments in the country. It is Kenya’s taxes which are funding these offices, not Brookside Dairies or Heritage Hotels money.

We won’t clap for you when petty thieves of 900,000 Kshs are arrested by your office, when known thieves are walking scot free. The DPP cannot commit his scarce resources to chase for petty thieves of scams below 10 Million and expect public goodwill.

People must now justify their continued stay in office. When you commit over 10 officers to hunt down 6 suspects who embezzled 900,000, does that even make economic sense? Can you spend such expensive man-hours chasing for peanuts? DPP and DCI you need to get your act together.

The people who have “eaten” Kenyans money are well-known. They have built flats, malls, stashed the money abroad and hidden it in their houses. You should be giving us the progress of the recovery of these assets first, and not chasing petty thieves of 900,000. We won’t allow our resources to be wasted in pursuit of petty offenders.

Tell us how far you’ve reached in repossession of Evans Kidero’s assets. Tell us which Governor is going to be successfully tried and convicted. Nab the MP’s who were bribed to endorse a sugar report. Go for the people who brought down Chase Bank and Imperial Bank Limited. We want to see blood of the upper-echelon of corruption.

We are being told that Deputy President William Ruto’s PA Farouk Kibet is being arrested on Friday. That one will be a welcomed image because he represents the face of corruption and impunity. But now when you chase a motherly-figure like Philomena Mwilu, you’re eroding all the gains you’ve made so far. We want Alpha-Females who walk as if they own Kenya, to be apprehended.

My only advise to the DPP and the DCI is to choose your battles wisely. If you needed to shake the Judiciary, you could’ve started with the judge Tonui who took a 200 million bribe from Evans Kidero.

Secondly, those independent office-holders should desist from being used by the petty and emotional clowns working at Statehouse. We are in this current mess because Uhuru consciously allowed corruption to thrive, yet now he’s acting as if he doesn’t know where it came from. Selective-amnesia.

If Uhuru wants to clean up the mess he created, he must do so within the confines of the constitution and not under the influence of his political-biases and petty emotions. Kenyans have no time for his tantrums and petty emotions. His cheap theatrics should be restricted to White House, where he unleashed his fake St. Mary’s British accent.

  • Daily Nation’s Role In Arrest Of DCJ Philomena Mwilu As David Ndii Claims NIS Edits DN Stories Nowadays

Daily Nation’s Role In Arrest Of DCJ Philomena Mwilu As David Ndii Claims NIS Edits DN Stories Nowadays

From Monday, one thing has been consistent with the Nation Media Group’s DN. The splashing headlines have been on a roll. Leading writers at Daily Nation; Mutuma Mathiu and John Kamau are the familiar faces in this. In what is a clearly well orchestrated plot to build a narrative and set an agenda, the popular newspaper seem to have been favorited in this ploy. Media enjoys the monopoly of agenda setting.

Monday, the splash headline on Daily Nation read, ‘Supreme Court judge targeted in corruption purge’

The Monday headline when the narrative started building up.

“A Supreme Court judge faces imminent arrest and prosecution for corruption in a devastating and dramatic escalation of the government’s campaign against graft. The arrest of such a high-ranking judicial staff, unprecedented in Kenya’s history, will be the culmination of weeks of investigations into brazen corruption at the Judiciary, and is likely to send shock waves throughout the institution.” It read.

“The Nation has followed this case for months after it learnt that the judge had been reported by the Kenya Revenue Authority to the Director of Public Prosecutions over the suspicious movement of large sums of money in and out of bank accounts.” The part of six months got me giggling.

They had the fine details of the entire case probably on tips from the DCI or ODPP who were on top of the case. How they got the information is not important what’s key is, they did not only instill fear in the judiciary corridors but at that particular moment they had put entire Supreme Court bench on public trial before the court of public opinion.

On Tuesday, same writers, different headline ‘Drama at Supreme Court over arrest of lawyer and top judge’

The Tuesday headline full with all judges faces on the front page.

While this might look harmless to a layman’s perspective viewpoint, I find it alarming that entire bench was on the spot, it paints the picture of a corrupt Supreme Court which is not only defaming but undermining authority and legitimacy of the highest court in the land. I don’t know if the editors had that in mind or maybe they did and a narrative had to keep building up.

On the second day running, the public was being prepared for the eminent arrest of the judge and the narrative was being built to paint a totally corrupt judge even when the entire case hadn’t been tabled. It’s called building perceptions, you don’t necessarily need to tell the truth, you can sway opinions with anything that suits your agenda.

On Tuesday, DCJ Philomena Mwilu was arrested within the precinct of the court which again in my view wasn’t the best thing to do as it doesn’t only undermine the authority of the court but also sends intimidating messages to other judges who might now not want to cross paths with the executive.

Mwilu now faces numerous counts of stealing, abuse of office and failure to pay taxes. “The evidence in our possession, reveals that Lady Justice Mwilu abused her office for personal gain; accepted a gift in the form of money in circumstances which undermined public confidence in the integrity of her office (and) conducted herself in disregard of the law,” DPP Noordin Haji said in a statement.

“In view of the above, I have concluded that the evidence is sufficient with a reasonable prospect of conviction and it is in the public interest that criminal proceedings should be preferred,” the DPP concluded.

Wednesday, the Daily Nation was once again at it shouting the fall of the DCJ.

Mwilu finally fell according to the DN

Again, this was not only done in bad faith but part of the narrative to defame the DCJ according to my thinking, look, there’s a presumption in the courts that one is assumed innocent until proven otherwise but here’s Daily Nation smartly executing a case in the courts of public opinion. To me this is character assassination on the person of Mwilu.

I find it exposing that the newspaper would overlook the presumptions of the court to prosecute and convict without facts. There are rumors that there’s a succession plan underway since the Chief Justice Maraga is three years shy of his retirement age hence the need to find a favorable replacement. As the DCJ, Mwilu is poised to take over but she is presumed to be a tough nut and system unfriendly, maybe that’s why she need to get out of the way.

David Ndii seems to have an idea on who’s behind Daily Nation’s Headlines. This is not the first time accusations are being thrown at Daily Nation for being a mouthpiece of the state and if it can be proved then it would be unfortunate for such a big scale media house being reduced to a government mouthpiece and a propaganda channel.

  • New Energy Felt As ODPP, DCI And NPS Gets More Active And Engaging On Social Media

New Energy Felt As ODPP, DCI And NPS Gets More Active And Engaging On Social Media

Social media is changing lives they say and that’s becoming clearer by the day as corporates come to the reality that without a social media presence, running a business is like a beautiful girl walking in the dark, nobody notices her.

Public institutions are also not remaining behind as they fully embrace social media in service delivery. I’ve been observing and can’t help notice and express my satisfaction with more specifically the Office Of Director of Public Prosecutions, the Directorate Of Criminal Investigations and the National Police Service.

Evidently, these accounts are under new management given the direction they’re taking and amount of work they’re putting in. ODPP is the most active in my view and a news hub, a good number of cases that previously would go unattended to are now being picked up in a snap.

The relationship between the ODPP and DCI especially on Twitter is really amazing and also I should put in EACC, they’re doing well too on Twitter as far as updating the nation on anti corruption news is go concerned.

Twitter for instance, is a news hub and a powerful communication tool, many cases have been prosecuted off Twitter noise. We’re blessed to have ODPP that’s very active and always picks up most cases raised and a DCI that immediately picks up the cases on directions from DPP and the whole coordination is amazing.

For time now, Kenyans perceive the police as unfriendly and often, they keep their ways apart as much. I’ve realized the NPS handler is actively changing that perception by being friendly and giving a sense of cops are also human and friends.

I just like how they’re engaging the public with some sense of humor you know, Kenya is tough For is all so who wouldn’t do with a bag of laughter? Whoever made the decision to ease the muscles and have such kind of engagements to work on the public and police bond did a good thing. When it comes to security, coordination is key between the two, lack of which things are bound to go wrong way.

Government institutions are actively getting onboard on social media which is the future and that’s a good thing, we’re all snack news consumers, we want everything on our phones. Dealing with crimes, you have to follow and admire the work of the trio; ODPP, DCI and the NPS. Timeliness, consistency, engagements the recipes that’s msking the Noordin, Kinoti teams stand out. There are other public institutions doing great too but this not your post, you’ll get a mention next time.

  • Dear Mang’u High-School Alumni; Exploiting Youth Isn’t Wealth Creation, Neither Is It Rocket-Science

Dear Mang’u High-School Alumni; Exploiting Youth Isn’t Wealth Creation, Neither Is It Rocket-Science

If there are students from a school who act as if God created them specifically on the 8th day, it is ex-students of Mang’u High School. The act as if they’re such hot-shots, who have created life-changing inventions and tout their school as if it’s some Ivy-League institution or something. If hit the scene, they’re always huddled together in groups, pretending to engage in revolutionary discourse.

And being that many were taught how to manage other people’s assets and not create, Mang’u alumni have filled various top-level positions in the country. They’re your typical pilots, doctors, managers and the likes.

But one salient trait amongst them is arrogance. They feel like they’re 1st class citizens, simply because they attended some glorified public school for 4 years. One would think it’s a franchise of some global center of excellence where students start assembling computers by the age of 8 like Japanese kids.

But no. Mang’u is just an over-rated manifestation of 8-4-4, where students were drilled by their teachers that they are “better” than anyone else, and so they develop a tendency of looking down on “others” because their heads are pumped with such unfortunate indoctrination.

Selfishness is a character flaw. And if there are any selfish characters, it’s Mang’u alumni. We profile 4. John Muhoho, Ronald Karauri, Allan “Stylez” Muigai and Justus Muiruri Kirigua.

The arrogance of these four is legendary. They walk as if they own the patent to some genius, community-impacting invention. But last and most-important, they cannot hook brothers up. The most they can do is buy you alcohol and engage in small-talk. They only reserve their time for members of the opposite gender.

Let’s take for instance Allan “DJ Stylez” Muigai. His greatest legacy is shafting young and upcoming DJ’s in the ass. Back when he had the most successful DJ unit in Nairobi, he employed the likes of KayTrixx, Mista T, Mista Dru, and etc. But he would never pay them their salaries. Even today, DJ Stylez is still screwing young folks over, by stealing their ideas or not paying service providers. Such a disgraceful idiot!

Justus Muiruri Kirigua is trending for all the wrong reasons. Another Mang’u alumni whose arrogance stretches from here to China, “Justo” as he’s popularly known in social-circles, runs his father’s Pewin Cabs Limited. He’s basically a Cerelac baby, who is just about to get into the biggest beef in his life.

Despite bribing journalists to include him in the sham “Top 40 under 40” list, Justus was paid a whopping Kshs. 96 Million by the Ministry of Sports, money that was meant to help change the lives of sportsmen and women in the country. Without honor or shame, he masquerades
as if he’s a rocket-scientist, talking a big game in the newspapers, yet he is just a thief who thinks highly of himself.

John Muhoho is the guy always flossing on Instagram with Uhuru’s chopper. Despite controlling his uncle’s campaign kitty, close associates describe him as the most useless piece of shit this side of the Sahara, who can only buy you alcohol but can’t swing you a deal. He’s one of those people who think they know everything and are better than the rest, thus he doesn’t have any friends of his lack of modesty and respect.

Uhuru’s Nephew John Muhoho. These arrogant Mangu Alumnus only helps women, and is very selfish. Despite his proximity to Uhuru, he hasn’t done anything life-changing to society, save for flossing on Instagram with his uncle’s chopper.

Quite unlike his own uncle who whether real or fake, tries to mingle with people from all walks of life.

Then ofcourse we have Ronald Karauri. Even his own high-school fraternity concedes that he hasn’t helped anyone since he got into the big money-league. Karauri suffers from a cocktail of complexes and imagines that since he made an app which has turned the youth of Kenya into betting addicts, he is some sort of latter-day Jehovah Wanyonyi.

These 4 Cerelac babies live for the Gram, showing off their jet-set lifestyles and trying to bag as many chics as possible. They still live in the cannibalistic mindset of the 90’s whereby they think that competition and having a “by any means necessary” approach to progress, is the future of business in Kenya.

And while I concede that not all Mang’u alumni are arrogant pricks like the four I’ve mentioned, there must be some historical perspective that readers can relate with. Mang’u people seem not to be familiar with something called the bro-code. These are salty nigger’s who laugh at the misfortune of their peers. They gossip a lot and only hook up women with deals or any other type of help.

It is this greed and selfishness which mutates into the primitive-acquisition that we have witnessed with the four. Because of the cheap-thrills they get when they impress girls and get “likes” on Instagram, they’re forced to do even crazier stuff so as to gain a step-ahead.

That’s why DJ Stylez will screw guys their money left right and center. That’s why Karauri will derive joy from converting poor kids into betting addicts. That’s why Justus Kirigua will create more fictitious paper-work to bag tenders to supply air at the Ministry of Sports. That’s why John Muhoho will only help women like Jacquie Maribe.

The rat-race has taken these simple minds captive, and they all want to “win” at any cost.

They suffer from another affliction. Because Mang’u was a national school located near Nairobi, they saw themselves as a British Curriculum school, but probably when they interact with now the real people who attended IGCSE schools, they feel inadequate and have to resort to such desperate acts of ripping guys or the system off, in-order to bridge the psychological-gap. It’s some form of narcissism.

These are all mentally disturbed characters. And the sooner other men shun them, the better.

  • Forget About Ruto And Think On The Future Political Context

Forget About Ruto And Think On The Future Political Context

Every time folks start talking about Samoei around me I never contribute because I rarely think of him within the future political context and here’s why. You see around 2015, Euro-American elite sponsored an Africa-wide water research project. The project unearthed about 286 acquifers with 83 of them falling on international borders between countries. The total size of the acquifers is 660k-4M Sq kilometres. For perspectives the whole of Kenya is a mere 582k sq kilometres.

Of course the Sahel came top with Libya and Morocco having the largest acquifers. Kenya has the Lotikipi, Merti and the Turkana acquifers. The Turkana acquifer alone has 250 billion cubic metres of water; that’s enough to supply the entire country’s water needs for 70 years. The Lotikipi one has 10 billion cubic meters while the Merti has four times that.

Now these Euro-American people armed with that info have come back and bought ranches around these acquifers for a song considering the overlaying land is mostly dry and rural. Why is this important? By 2050 black people will be the largest race in the world at 2.5 billion people. Where will they live? What will they eat? Where will they get water from?

Kenyan population grows by about a million a year, meaning in another 30 years we’ll have a population of about 81+ million people. We haven’t even began thinking about the cities of the future. Instead of mainstreaming urban anthropology we’re busy touting MBAs. Which cities will be the largest in the future? Have we started laying the water/energy/security/road infrastructures in those locations? Ama we’ll simply end up reproducing other Nairobis out there with 4M residents 2.5M of whom occupy the 284 slums in an area that’s less than 500sq/kms?

Thirty years looks like a long time ahead but you are in your twenties/thirties yet don’t feel that old yet, do you? You now see why Samoei is simply a footnote in a very complex storyline? There’s nothing witty, intelligent, or coarse about him and 2022 that you can say that hasn’t been said yet. It’s a waste of public discourse and good thinking. While you are busy packing such blinding hate for fleeting personalities, the Euro-Americans are back here buying land rights at all the potential strategic locations for future Kenyan cities where water is available.

How did we become such short-termist, easily impressionable humans? Why are we so allergic to ideating, long term strategizing and futurism? People are making 70 year plans for our land and water while we play 5 year games. If we don’t stop being enchanted on a week by week basis and, think long and hard, we can as well predict our grandkid’s timelines will read every bit like ours.

  • In Bobi Wine, Museveni Messed With The Wrong Person As Africa Gangs Up With Kenyans Taking Lead On Twitter For His Freedom

In Bobi Wine, Museveni Messed With The Wrong Person As Africa Gangs Up With Kenyans Taking Lead On Twitter For His Freedom

Reports coming from Uganda are not good on the health status of detained politician Bobi Wine. According to available information, the ‘ghetto president’ had his kidney damaged and suffered internal injuries from the torture reigned on him by soldiers in the barracks where he’s currently being held. Bobi is to face the martial court once again on Thursday where he’s charged for being in possession of illegal firearms.

Wine was in the northwest of the country in the Arua municipality on Monday Aug. 13 to show support for a new candidate in a local by-election. Museveni was also there to throw his weight behind the ruling party’s candidate. Their supporters clashed as protestors pelted Museveni’s car with stones, breaking the rear windscreen, Uganda’s military said in a statement.

It has emerged that the said guns were planted in Bobi’s hotel since the management of the hotel denied the musician cum politician had guns with him. The impact on the said car showed it was never pelted with stones but obviously damaged in schemed effort to trump up charges.

At 36, Wine appeals to a youthful electorate excluded by the polices of their 74-year-old president. With Uganda’s median age at 15 years, Wine could emerge as the strongest opponent to Museveni in the 2021 election. He won his seat running both against  the ruling and opposition parties by positioning himself as the voice of the youth, scoring a landslide victory. Additionally, the opposition candidate he was campaigning for in Arua, triumphed over Museveni’s choice.

For a tyrant who recently forced a law extending his presidential term limits, Museveni is determined to rule Uganda by fire and blood and that’s why anyone who comes his way with the energy of Bobi, has to face his monkey tactics of silencing critics. Trumped up charges, torture, court martial and prison has been his tools of trade on critics for ages.

An idea whose time has come can never be stopped and Africans especially the young people who’ve been victims of tyranny are standing up with Bobi Wine and Uganda to say enough is enough. The youthful politician has stirred and pumped out the pan Africanism fire in many young people. Twitter as a powerful social media tool I’m voicing opinions and shaping conversations, has been instrumental during these times of Bobi.

To muzzle voices, Museveni introduced a primitive law that requires Ugandans to pay taxes to use social media, the only intention of such an uncouth law is to ensure the voices of many youths who’re pounded by unemployment and frustrated by tyranny are silenced.

Africa has come out in numbers to tell off Museveni. Shooting missiles from their phones, Kenyan online army better known as KOT (Kenyans on Twitter) are all out in their style standing in solidarity with Ugandans most of whom are locked out from accessing the internet thanks to the social media tax. Kenyans have taken the lead as Africa Twitter shouts loudest against the dictatorship horror in Uganda.

    Whole Africa is onboard

Since Museveni seized power in 1986, many of his critics have been detained in unknown locations, beaten within an inch of their lives or died under suspicious circumstances. In December 2012, 24 year-old MP Cerinah Nebanda was poisoned.

Like Kyagulanyi, she was a young, charismatic and outspoken critic of Museveni’s repression and corruption, and her parliamentary colleagues called for an independent inquiry. Museveni called them “fools” and had them jailed on trumped-up charges.

In September 2017, Special Forces troops raided Parliament to stop the filibuster of a bill that would entrench Museveni in power indefinitely. During this operation, security forces crippled MP Betty Nambooze, who required a six-hour operation to repair her damaged spine.

  • Kenya’s Online Heavyweights Rally Behind Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi Appealing To Twitter To Reinstate His Suspended Account

Kenya’s Online Heavyweights Rally Behind Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi Appealing To Twitter To Reinstate His Suspended Account

Arguably one of the highest ranked online influencers, blogger Cyprian Nyakundi had his Twitter account which again was amongst the biggest in Kenya, suspended more than two weeks ago following a violation on Twitter policies when he posted an exposing photo of a Radio Africa Executive.

Normally, when Twitter suspends an account, one has the option of appealing the decision and waiting for the Twitter’s response which we understand the blogger did and yet to get a response. Nyakundi has created a parallel account which started gaining traction before Twitter suspended it again going to show how committed they’re willing to go in keeping him away from their platform.

Having been a fierce critic of the government, many people are reading this censorship beyond their noses giving it a deeper view. Coincidentally, in the very week that Nyakundi’s account was banned, regional Twitter executives were in the country adding to many suspicions on how this was done.

Ramone Martin, East Africa’s Twitter Executive and Adrian Ciesielski, Africa’s Twitter Sales Manager happened to be in the country where they had attended several functions including Safaricom’s Blaze event in Mombasa. Our moles also reveals to us that the executives held meetings with government operatives like Dennis Itumbi who’s a digital strategist for the state. Amongst many of their clients that they met also included the Standard Media group amongst many. We’re made aware of plans by Twitter to establish their offices here in Nairobi.

With a cloud of uncertainty hanging around the suspension of the influential blogger, the larger online community took it to Twitter appealing to the San Francisco’s based company, to lift the ban and reinstate his account. Twitter heavyweights and key policy makers joined the campaign. As an anti corruption crusader and whistleblower, the comments were awash with praises.

    https://twitter.com/okothkenneth/status/1028291286162386944?s=21

    More comments in his support streamed in;

    https://twitter.com/lawjrho/status/1028250251948449793?s=21

    In the same breath, some are also against his reinstatement;

The decision as to whether Twitter will reinstate the account solely depend on them and their policies cut but the bigger majority have expressed their thoughts and on the value of the said account in freedom of speech. Twitter is currently under fire over censorship even though it stands out as the only platform that is yet to ban ALEX Jones when everyone is giving him darkness. As for Nyakundi and Twitter, only time will tell.

  • JohnBosco: AISLES OF POWER – Referendum, the constitutional arithmetic to cling onto power.

JohnBosco: AISLES OF POWER – Referendum, the constitutional arithmetic to cling onto power.

The leaders who catalysed the liberation of Africa from colonial power majority have up-to-date declined to vamoose power. An incumbent can willingly jeopardise a country into pandemonium just to secure his/her position and demand for much more ‘adequate’ time to rule and dictate due to biasness and ‘The big mansyndrome.

Exit of African leaders from power can be categorised into two:

    1. Normal- Constitutional means
    2. Abnormal- Unconstitutional means

Normal means have been through Voluntary resignation, Natural death and Loosing an election. Abnormal means have been through Civil wars(coup) and Assassination.

Research shows three quarter of Incumbents who left power in the 1990s-1970s was through coup, assassination or violent overthrow but apparently wheeled by Constitutional term limits.

Before 1990 when Term limit law came to effect, African leaders exit power at their pleasure, but now at a time and way dictated by the constitutional rules and set up. Incumbents being hit by Age limit are calling for Age Limit discard referendum while those hit by Term limit are calling for Term limit discard referendum. Unfortunately, all those that have called for these exercises have all won, many due to power from the depth of the pocket and power from the bullet.

Elections in Africa have lost importance in terms of credibility, fairness and freeness and by leaders overturning constitutional term service limits on their favour to overrule.

~Recently, Uganda’s long time President Yoweri Museveni assented a bill into law regarding scrapping off of Presidential term limit in his favour and which will make him lawfully seek reelection. This decision was seconded by Constitutional court of Uganda judges who ruled in Museveni’s favour in ration 4:1.

    Museveni's Referendum banners

Museveni was quoted saying before, “I’m only one whose language is understood in Washington where Uganda gets funds to promote rural electrification”

Uganda’s parliament in turmoil during Museveni’s Age Limit bill debate

~Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC ) is at war by herself. Democracy can’t be prevailed where the leaders themselves are antidemocratic. The ongoing crisis is attempted coup to remove President Joseph Kabila out power whose term was to end 2016 and elections to be held in November that year. He decided to manipulate the constitution and rescheduled election to 2018. From the records, 5.4 million people have lost their lives in this civil war since 1998.

~In Burundi Pierre Nkurunziza caused attempted coup  when the opposition took action upon themselves to defend the law. Tricks by him to manipulating the constitution in his favour to rerun for third term after claiming that 90% of the population supports his bid and governance.

Pierre Nkurunziza casting his ballot during Referendum

He argued that he was elected by parliament in his first time and not by the people and in line for a second directly elected term. After the successful manipulation, he was set to rule till 2034 but have promised to step down in 2020. Human Rights Watch said that more than 15 Burundians were killed and women were raped during referendum campaign and  he ran for a third term that’s in 2015 and went on to win in a bloody political conflict that left over 1,200 Burundians killed. Four hundred thousand more fled the country.

    Victim

~In 2016, Paul Kagame also manipulated the constitution in claim of responding to the voice of the people, a decision which caused unrest and instability from opposition and economy respectively. It favours him to rule until 2034.

President Paul Kagame during the Referendum day

~In 2001 Zambia’s President Chiloba attempted to manipulate the constitution for the same selfish reason but was halted by Civil society who held a massive campaign against his decision.

~Congo Brazzaville, Dennis Sassou Nguesso won referendum on constitutional amendment to scrap of Presidential term limit in 2015 and got reelected again in 2016

Power addicts manipulating the law to favour their interests forgets power lies in the hands of the people who can squeeze them to dehydration and render them casualties.

Perhaps unclear position or state at which when a president retire they will be in. These worries are possible causal reasons for clinging onto power.

  • Why Patients Risks Having Their Sensitive Health Information Leaked To The Public With The Cuban Doctors In Kenya

Why Patients Risks Having Their Sensitive Health Information Leaked To The Public With The Cuban Doctors In Kenya

Despite great opposition from their colleagues, 100 Cuban doctors eventually came to Kenya and have since dispatched to all the Counties. While the need for specialists is unquestionable, the mannerism of government begind this exercise has been criticized in all the right terms.

Economically, it doesn’t make sense for government to hire the 100 foreign specialists at a cost of Sh1 billion while Kenya has a big number of unemployed doctors. Here we’re having foreign doctors pampered with better remuneration packages than their local colleagues who’ve been on the streets and ever crying for better pay then boom, the new entrance are living in lavish mode.

    Doctor-Patient Confidentiality

In the whole setup, one thing was under looked and it’s a big concern. Language barrier. Cuba is largely Spanish speaking and only few are fluent if not good in English.

The majority of patients who will be seen by the Cuban specialists speak Kiswahili and/or mother tongue and a little or no English hence the need for interpreters. And here lies the biggest problem that is set to compromise medical ethics.

Credible fears of misdiagnosis, wrong treatment and prescriptions are here with us. A slight misinterpretation can be catastrophic, this goes without much expounding.

Even for local doctors, you need to interact with locals at a personal level to fully understand their language and this come with long experience.

For instance, local doctors would know when a middle aged man says “mimi sitaki wanawake yote”, he doesn’t mean that he doesn’t like seeing women. He means he has erectile dysfunction. When an elderly woman says “leo nimejikunaNairobi usiku mzima,” she doesn’t mean she traveled all the way to Nairobi just so she can scratch herself.

It means that she has a persistent itch in “her private parts”. You need to have long experience to know the various terms used to mean several things for instance sex; “kukutana na mzee, kukuwa na mama watoto, wakati tunafanya mambo yetu” among many other terms. These can pass even any translator.

Patient-Doctor confidentiality is a traditional work ethics and without this secrecy, a patient either will hold back critical information that would lead to misdiagnosis, prescription and treatment which by effect would negatively impact their health.

Since the Cuban doctors need translators it means a third party will be injected into the service flow and ruin the a lot. There’s a cardinal principle in medicine called confidentiality! The doctor-patient secrecy code is very important and has been there with our Kenyan doctors. With Cuban doctors who don’t can’t speak English/Kiswahili you’ll now have to share your secrets with a non medic interpreter.

There are numerous numerous implications as I’ve touched them lightly above, it’s obvious certain illnesses of not all must be treated with ultimate secrecy, when doctors rarely share patient information amongst themselves unless they’re sharing the patient or there’s a need for senior advices from superiors.

Do you realize when you go to the doctor not even the nurse is allowed around so you open up completely, now imagine having a third party in the jane of an interpreter, many people will withhold crucial information for proper diagnosis. You wouldn’t be east opening up about your health to an stranger, it’s natural.

    Sensitive Health Information Leaking

Patients risks having their sensitive health information leaked to the public given that these interpreters most likely lack medical background and are not bound with the secrecy oath and code of ethics. Doctors never give out their patients information at whatever cost unless it’s a rogue one. They treat that information with unexplainable hold and you can be confidence it wouldn’t get to wrong hands that’s why you’re easy to open up to the finer details to the doctor.

For someone who doesn’t understand this important work ethic, probabilities of having time health records leaked to the public are very high. “Huyu anaringa hapa na tunamtimbu ako positive” such gossips from the non medic interpreters will be common call it pessimism I call it open facts.

Nobody would want their health records to be made public even those who make medical funding requests never do it out of will but as last option but here’s a situation where your information is leaked because it landed in the hands of someone who doesn’t understand the implications.

Well, at this point, little can be done as all efforts to stop this muddle have been thwarted so we’re at catch-22 and have to live with the consequences. The Cuban doctors are here with us for the next two years.

  • Let Leaders And People Of The Luhya Nation Unite

Let Leaders And People Of The Luhya Nation Unite

    By Nicholas Olambo

Kenyan politics is tribal, and that’s what it is, securing community or tribal backyard is the first step to climbing to leadership at whatever level. Clan politics characterize county assembly, parliamentary, senatorial and gubernatorial positions.

The much talked about handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta opposition leader Raila Odinga sent a strong message both to allies and opponents. It marked an end to a meaningful NASA coalition where Odinga and his ODM party were members.

Odinga was considered to have walked out of the Nasa marriage when he walked through the revolving doors and made the unexpected handshake with President Kenyatta at the doorsteps of Harambee house. His allies (Kalonzo, Mudavadi, and Wetangula ) saw that Odinga needed some break or distance from the relationship, so they had to retreat and re-strategize ahead of 2022.

Mudavadi and Wetangula have since gone back to their backyards to unite their community as the first step towards clinching the country’s top leadership in 2022. Their move has been branded tribal though it’s not different from what other top politicians do. When the two backed Odinga in 2017 it was never seen as a tribe supporting Mr. Odinga but patriotic brothers working with like-minded politicians to provide better leadership.

It must be taken into consideration that the handshake caused political jitters and realignments. Musalia Mudavadi who is rumored to be the brain behind NASA had to ditch snitching friends who hold no much significance around him, and so he altered his perspective and focussed on the unity of his community first.

There is this myth that is poisoning the minds of the electorate that Luhya nation is vote-rich but never votes as a bloc. Dead wrong, over 70% of this bloc has voted in one direction since 2002, and so in that design, it is not a divided bloc. Nyanza, for instance, is considered a united bloc but in it, Kuria and Kisii regions have been infiltrated by Odinga’s opponents season in and season out.

ODM party should not believe that they live in a perfect and that if you don’t agree with them, then their spanner boys like Edwin Sifuna should call you all sorts of names.

Hon Musalia Mudavadi has a compelling political resume that grants him all the authority to solidify support in his backyard to go for the top seat in 2022. Everybody is playing their game. This country has in the recent past witnessed several visits that idling leaders have made to Kabarak to save the diminishing future of the dynasties. Keyboard politicians from the orange party will call that development, but moves to unite Luhya nation will be branded as efforts to sell the community to the highest bidder.

Luhyas have never been sold to any bidder at any time; they have in most cases voted with Odinga, a renowned stingy man who has collected money from poor Kenyans to aide his campaigns but provided no alternative leadership in the end; instead, he walked his cronies to the unwanted system.

The western bloc is not divided as such; the leadership in that part of the world is only working ways to have a prevailing party like any region in Kenya. They have discovered who the real friends are and individuals who beg for mercy and ride on other people’s back. Ex-partners like the orange party are feeling godly with the fame that came with handshakes and hugs but severely is blind to see that the electorate has realized that they meant no good for the region.

Handshake didn’t prove that dynasties are statesmen, but it marked the moment when other leaders learned harsh lessons. The electorate is now awake, and the desperate voices to create positions for old and retirees from political dynasties are landing on deaf ears. This country needs a serious and sober leadership, uniting western Kenya should be the first step towards that.

  • Sorry Mr President But Forgiveness Without Reparation Is Futile

Sorry Mr President But Forgiveness Without Reparation Is Futile

Like many of the past elections, Kenya has been treated to series of violence and the 2017 election wasn’t any different. The conflicted poll was nullified in the Supreme Court and Kenyans went on a repeat poll which was boycotted by the majority of voters. Many lives were lost, many maimed from the ruthless hands of the police who reigned terror on the protesting opposition supporters.

As events would turn out, opposition’s leader Raila Odinga, ceased fire and agreed to work with President Uhuru after a long period of deadly battle. The now popular handshake was received by mixed reactions with some of Raila supporters feeling betrayed that he bowed out before delivering on what they were fighting for like electoral justice. However, many viewed the handshake positively as it brought a state of peace and tranquillity in the country.

During his address to the nation on Wednesday, the President came out in a sober mood asking Kenyans for forgiveness. We’ve been here before after the 2013 contested election when Kenyans were told to accept and move on, in that election, lives were lost as accustomed. The cynical circle is here with us once more and will continue taking rounds should Kenyans continue giving a serious issue the evident cosmetic approach.

One lovable characteristic of President Uhuru is his speeches, well written and so convincing, the problem often comes in implementation. Before we forgive, we must not forget how we got here, the President in his speech, conveniently failed to mention which particular crimes he committed that he wants us to forgive. A casual way of asking for forgiveness is not going to go down well. Kenya needs genuine reconciliation, not this quicksand approach. We don’t need eruptions in 2022 but if we don’t deal all loopholes them we’re headed right to it.

Forgiveness without reparation is honestly, laughable and inconsequential. Many people lost their lives, family snatched of their loved ones and scores left with permanent scars in the post-election violence. How then do we make these people forgive? A personalized apology and compensation perhaps will do. A lot need to be changed to switch the presidency of this country from being a matter of life and death hence bloody contest every five years.

Corruption, nepotism, tribalism has been dividing this country since independence, we’ve really failed to curb it. A genuine reconciliation effort would mean we revisit the TJRC report and address all the historical justice. Without the implementation of the report, we’re merely acting on an ostrich mentality and sitting in a time bomb.

True forgiveness will not come from beautiful speeches but by genuinely addressing the historical injustices that have been the core causes of disunity and chaos in Kenya. Uhuru and Raila are in the best positions right now to deliver long-lasting solutions.

    https://twitter.com/UKenyatta/status/991681001003896833?ref_src=twcamp%5Ecopy%7Ctwsrc%5Eandroid%7Ctwgr%5Ecopy%7Ctwcon%5E7090%7Ctwterm%5E3

President touched on corruption, a monster that has been undoing the most. For forgiveness on what the president feigned helplessness on last year, we need to see successful prosecutions and recovery of stolen public wealth, we need to start seeing the real terror on corrupt officials, time for speeches is up, action time.

Before we rush to forgive, we must revisit how we got here, this is the only way we’re going to have a long-lasting solution, otherwise, silence shouldn’t be mistaken for peace.

Economy Class: ‘EAT HEALTHY, LIVE HEALTHY’ Is Fallacy Due To Unaffordable HealthCare.

Perhaps before i ignite this ride, let’s first agree on what ‘Health’ means: This is a state of complete Physical, Mental and Social wellbeing of an individual in simple terms and precise. For temperately sometime, researchers and researches, some confusing because they’re contradicting the reality of Good health or Ill health and i believe you might have read some or rather several of them or even listened to them, opinions concerning healthcare matters hence i don’t have to ‘plagiarise’ by repeating the basics of what they entail.

After humble time of observation and doing some statistics, i came to solidify the verisimilitude that genuinely in developing countries, Middle class families struggling with Unaffordable healthcare live to hocus-pocus that ‘Eat Healthy, Live Healthy’ is the solution to a healthy body- Corpore sano.

The middle class that’s the Economy class can afford meals compared unlike low class that even affording a meal is nightmare and just survive to fight another day. These findings have made me authenticate that Unaffordable healthcare is a dangerous Psychological Health Hazard that worsens our unhealthy state. As a matter of fact, everyone is prone to ill health and when we’re in this situation especially in third world countries who’ve poor, below standard and unaffordable healthcare, patients tend to suffer more from Psychological torture, distress of how they’re gonna clear the hospital bills and other human expenses. Like in Kenya, government policised that every adult Citizen ought to have medical insurance cover but sincerely they only cater for 10% expense in special cases like Cancer treatment and research shows Psychological torture or Depression which erupts due to affinity for funds (which are inadequate) for treatment triggers and stimulates some hormones in excess portion worsening further the pathogenic cells in the patient who is suffering.

Some Elite class families too have moved from grace to grass, so many families are being held hostage in hospital wards over hospital bills arrears and more shockingly corpse too being held hostage in the morgues over hospital bills, a scenario which is a disgrace to a country which is visualizing for Universal Healthcare standards.

This Unaffordable healthcare being a clinical depressant can cause furthermore new diseases to a patient, talking of; stroke, heart diseases, kidney diseases, multiple myeloma and which further results to blood problems ‘hematological problems’, ‘Acquired hemolytic anaemias’.

Considering the biological fact that some cancer cases in some individuals are as a result of genetics link, you don’t encourage them to Eat Healthy and Live Healthy instead you provide Affordable healthcare to them to help not worsen their situation. For this matter, if there is affordable healthcare then these people can commence eating healthy and continue living healthy but before this provision and state, Eating healthy and living healthy is null and void and a Dream.

I’m proud of the current initiative of Universal Healthcare which have made governments, NGOs struggling to shine to connect the dots with the Affordable International Standards of Healthcare but at the same time also afraid that Healthcare sector cartels who majority are the hungry political class won’t allow this smooth transition for reasons they personalise as ‘meant to sideline their (fraudulent) business income’. Nearly two out of every five Kenyans have no access to medical insurance, thus a large part of the population is excluded from quality health care services and which reflects to Africa as a whole and that achieving Universal Health Care standard is a formidable challenge because Africa as a continent requires about 50% more doctors to achieve Universal Health Care standard, compared to the West which needs only about 3% more.

  • Cyprian Nyakundi Goes After Professor Magambo- A Man Who Expelled Him For Tweeting

Cyprian Nyakundi Goes After Professor Magambo- A Man Who Expelled Him For Tweeting

When Meru University expelled Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi,  four years ago, for tweeting, the world was shocked. The expulsion letter went viral but Nyakundi’s effort to be readmitted back to Meru University were fruitless, Deputy Vice Chancellor Gitonga Mburugu’s signature on the letter sealed Nyakundi’s fate.

What crime had Nyakundi  committed? Well, well. The Blogger had posted on social media that lecture rooms had no enough chairs and students had to carry chairs from one block to another. He had also posted on social media that the Library had no enough updated   books, the streets within the university needed lighting, a lot of dust within the university that needed grass to be planted and pavements to be cemented, a student was sexually harassed and management tried to cover it up  and finally, poor cafeteria services that led to scrambling for food by students. These were Nyakundi’s crimes that led to his expulsion!

Nyakundi’s expulsion letter from the Meru University.

Nyakundi was a Joint Admissions Board student that was posted to the University to pursue Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science, one of the top and well being career course. But just with a stroke of a pen, the Meru University administration ended his studies. His case was then highlighted by none other than State House Director Dennis Itumbi under the Hashtag #LetNyakundiTweet.  Nyakundi is now a big critic of Itumbi but insists he must criticize him because that is what intellectuals do.

In fact, even after being  expelled, Nyakundi never gave up as he continued highlighting corruption and impunity within Meru University. The scared management once summoned student leaders and told them “Nyakundi is an outsider and enemy, his aim is to tarnish Meru University Image, don’t listen to him! Avoid him like Plague.

Evans Njoroge ‘Kidero’ the student leader executed by police.

So it is not surprising how Nyakundi was able to break the news of the murdered Meru University student leader complete with all details and image evidence. The Kenyan media later caught up with the news three hours after Nyakundi broke it. A Meru University student we spoke to said him and  fellow students learnt about the incident from the Blogger despite them residing near the place he was shot.

We managed to get Nyakundi’s Views on why he decided to control the narrative of this case and here is a caption of what he said

“ I was alerted about the murder by  a student and had to act very fast because I know  how the government and media operate. By the way, there was a plan to fix the murdered student by saying he was carrying a weapon, trying to attack the officer, and leading to exchange of fire and his demise. Media is good in conjuring such narratives.  I had to act fast by taking on social media and stating that this student was unarmed, and was killed by by an officer, not a goon. Trust me, this story would have been killed by media.  By the time media was reporting, we had controlled the narrative and all Kenyans were fully aware the student had been eliminated by an officer, he was unarmed and the university had a hand in this. So media could not even interview  the management because the narrative had been set.’’ This is power of social media, and media just had to report as social media was reporting.

    Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi.

“Such stories don’t need any doubt. If we had allowed the corrupt media to run their NIS script, this case would have not raised outrage- Nyakundi  tells us.

Because of social media pressure, many institutions including IPOA and Ministry of Education have started probing the matter. UASU condemned the incident and demanded that action is taken. Leaders from all over the nation have also demanded a quick apprehension of the trigger-happy Cop.

Blogger Nyakundi came up with the narrative of forcing the whole management to resign over the matter. And due to all this pressure, the resignation of Magambo is now a topic of discussion though the VC says he won’t resign because he has done nothing wrong. The Blogger has been posting in Meru University Students group urging students to only go back when Professor Magambo has resigned.

The Blogger  has also championed for the Alumni meeting where he appeared with the current and former student leaders and Magambo’s stepping aside being one of the key topics. The Blogger has declared that he will personally follow up the case and will soon start releasing articles about the rot within the institution.

Nyakundi insists he has nothing personal against the Vice Chancellor and is not out to revenge because the rot at the institution is too much and it is time something is done.

“I have nothing personal against Professor Magambo who is a shame to the world of creativity. I believe the VC has a hand in the student’s murder because he is the one who called in the police. Why hasn’t he recorded a statement? As a Blogger and peace loving Kenyan, I have a role to inform Kenyans and Meru University students won’t go back unless many changes are implemented. We will tell them when it is safe to go back. I have nothing personal against anyone, I am just fighting Impunity. Magambo is a small person, we have fought serious people before’’ Nyakundi told us.

As the Meru University saga unfolds, one thing is for sure- Professor Magambo will go, but Nyakundi will keep exposing him. Is this sweet revenge?

    We digress.
