Visa, MasterCard Bans Use Of Their Cards On PornHub Citing Unlawful Videos

Credit card titans Visa and Mastercard on Thursday said they would no longer process payments to Pornhub after US media reported the site hosts videos depicting child sex abuse and rape.

The New York Times said the pornography website includes “many” videos depicting “child abuse and nonconsensual violence” among the 6.8 million new videos posted each year, and that because Pornhub users can download videos directly from the site, images of abuse could be reposted repeatedly.

“Today, the use of our cards at Pornhub is being terminated. Our investigation over the past several days has confirmed violations of our standards prohibiting unlawful content on their site,” Mastercard said in a statement.

Visa cited allegations of illegal activity in “suspending Pornhub’s acceptance privileges pending the completion of our ongoing investigation.”

“We are instructing the financial institutions who serve MindGeek to suspend processing of payments through the Visa network,” it said in a statement, referring to the Pornhub’s Canadian parent company.

Pornhub called the decisions “exceptionally disappointing,” pointing to changes it had made following the Times report.

The company earlier this week announced it would only allow “properly identified users to upload content,” and also banned downloads.

Going forward, only content partners and people who earn ad revenue from their videos will be able to upload to the site, and a new user verification process would be rolled out next year.

“This news is crushing for the hundreds of thousands of models who rely on our platform for their livelihoods,” Pornhub said.

  • Anthony Joshua Knocks Out Pulev Setting Stage For Potential Fury Fight

Anthony Joshua Knocks Out Pulev Setting Stage For Potential Fury Fight

Anthony Joshua said he wants to unify all four world heavyweight boxing titles in an all-British clash with Tyson Fury after a dominant ninth round knockout of Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev at London’s Wembley Arena on Saturday.

In front of 1,000 fans, with attendance limited due to COVID-19 restrictions, Joshua ensured there was no repeat of a shock defeat in his first clash with Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019 as the 39-year-old Pulev was swotted aside.

Attention will now turn to the possibility of a much-anticipated clash with WBC champion Fury in 2021.

“I’m up for anything. Who wants to see Anthony Joshua box Tyson Fury in 2021?” Joshua asked the crowd to a chorus of cheers.

“I started this game in 2013 and I’ve been chasing the belts ever since.

“Whoever has got the belt, I would love to compete with them. If that is Tyson Fury then let it be Tyson Fury.”

Pulev had lost just once previously in his career to Wladimir Klitschko in 2014, but was outclassed by Joshua, who could have had victory wrapped up within three rounds.

Twice Pulev was given a count by the referee in round three after he was left flailing on the ropes by an explosive burst of punches from Joshua.

The IBF, WBA and WBO world champion then surprisingly took his foot off the accelerator to allow Pulev to hang in the fight.

But in round nine three uppercuts in quick succession put Pulev back on the canvas and this time he did not get back up in time as Joshua took his career record to 24-1.

An agreement in principle for Joshua and WBC champion Fury to finally go head-to-head has been in place since earlier this year.

“Starting from tomorrow, we make the Tyson Fury fight straight away. It’s the only fight to be made in boxing. It is the biggest fight in British boxing history,” said Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn.

“I know he (Joshua) wants it. He is the best heavyweight in the world, I promise you. He’ll break him down, he’ll knock him out.”

Fury also confirmed he wants the fight with a post on social media shortly after Joshua’s win.

“I want the fight, I want the fight next,” said Fury, who has not been in the ring since beating Deontay Wilder in February.

“I’ll knock him out inside three rounds.”

However, Fury could be contractually obliged to fight Wilder for a third time before taking on Joshua.

After the first bout was controversially declared a draw, Wilder activated a rematch clause following Fury’s victory in the second fight.

A third clash between the two was postponed earlier this year due to COVID-19.

Gor Wins 1-0 Over Ulinzi Stars In Crucial Match

Gor Mahia began their title defense on a positive note after they trounced Ulinzi Stars 1-0, in an entertaining match at Nyayo National Stadium.

Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga and Sports, Culture and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Amb.(Dr.) Amina Mohamed, were among the notable spectators in the lively encounter.

K’ogalo were quick off the races and could have gone ahead through a rasping free kick from Clifton Miheso, which unfortunately hit the crossbar.

The military men took time to settle but had a good chance to go ahead only for their striker John Njuguna to round off the entire defense and stub the ball to the side netting.

This gave them the momentum and believe as they were now causing ripples at the Gor Mahia defense and one such raid so them hit the crossbar.

They headed to the break tied at 0-0 and Gor Mahia stand in coach Patrick Odhiambo made an immediate substitution bringing in club Captain Kenneth Muguna, who increased the tempo of the game and brought impetus to the frontline.

Substitute Jules Ulimwengu, came from the bench to score the winner and give Gor Mahia 3 vital points as they began their title defense.

Rapper Lil Wayne Faces Up To 10 Years In Jail

US rapper Lil Wayne pleaded guilty Friday to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon over an incident dating back to last year, US media reported — a federal offense that could see him sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.

The 38-year-old artist, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr, was found to be carrying a gun and bullets when police searched a private plane in Miami in December last year.

“Your honor, I plead guilty,” he reportedly told US District Judge Kathleen Williams during a virtual hearing.

The Miami Herald said that Lil Wayne — who has a home in south Florida — admitted the gold-plated pistol found in his luggage was his. He told police the weapon had been given to him as a Father’s Day gift.

Police also found what was believed to be cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, heroin, painkillers and more than $25,000 in cash, the newspaper said.

But the sole federal weapons charge filed in federal court in Miami stems from the fact that Lil Wayne was convicted more than a decade ago on a separate firearms charge.a

Convicted felons are barred from owning firearms under federal law.

The five-time Grammy winner — who more recently made headlines for meeting with and voicing support for President Donald Trump — will face sentencing on January 28.

  • Mayweather Agrees To Fight YouTuber Logan Paul Early Next Year

Mayweather Agrees To Fight YouTuber Logan Paul Early Next Year

Floyd Mayweather announced Sunday he is set for an exhibition boxing match against popular YouTube personality Logan Paul at an undetermined venue early next year.

No details were released about the former boxing champion’s latest exhibition, other than it would be held on February 20.

The 43-year-old Mayweather has not had a serious boxing match since fighting Andre Berto in 2015, the same year he battled Filipino champion Manny Pacquiao.

In 2017, Mayweather stopped mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor, who had never boxed professionally before. The one-sided fight allowed Mayweather an easy way to close his overall boxing record at 50-0.

A year later, Mayweather staged another widely ridiculed exhibition against kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year’s Eve that reportedly netted him $9 million.

The 25-year-old Paul’s lone boxing match was against his YouTube rival, KSI, back in November 2019.

Paul triggered widespread criticism with his YouTube portfolio in 2017 when he posted a video showing the body of an apparent suicide victim in Japan. The video, shot in the Aokigahara forest, caused YouTube to cut some business ties with Paul.

Last month, Mayweather shared a video on Instagram teasing an upcoming fight but without any details.

Mayweather will be giving up six inches in height to the six-foot-two Paul. Tickets are priced between $25 and $70.

  • Arsenal Beat Man United, Break 14 Years Winless Streak At Old Trafford

Arsenal Beat Man United, Break 14 Years Winless Streak At Old Trafford

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s second-half penalty gave Arsenal their first Premier League away win over Manchester United since 2006.

Aubameyang ended a run of five games without a goal by sending David de Gea the wrong way on 69 minutes after Paul Pogba had fouled Hector Bellerin.

United tried to rally but came no closer to an equaliser than when Donny van de Beek’s cross-shot flicked off Mohamed Elneny and then into the face of goalkeeper Bernd Leno before bouncing to safety off a post.

It was not the greatest contest between two clubs who used to fight it out for the biggest prizes but are now a pale imitation of their former selves.

While Arsenal will be delighted at the deserved victory, this was not the kind of United performance that did justice to the memory of club legend Nobby Stiles, who died on Friday.

Pogba is the most high-profile figure in the United midfield that World Cup winner Stiles used to operate in. But the Frenchman had a day to forget, giving the ball away too cheaply when his side attacked and needlessly fouling Bellerin to turn the contest Arsenal’s way.

The Gunners now have 12 points and are up to eighth and United remain in 15th on seven points.

Arsenal end long wait for a ‘big six’ away win

It is only two weeks since Arsenal visited Manchester and did quite well, only to lose to a Raheem Sterling goal at City. Last week, United and another London club, Chelsea, played out a thoroughly forgettable goalless draw at Old Trafford.

The first-half of this contest felt like a combination of the two games.

United were a shadow of the side that hammered RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday. Their one decent opportunity came when Marcus Rashford found Mason Greenwood with a superb pass across the area but Bernd Leno saved with his feet and would have been disappointed if he had been beaten at the near post.

Arsenal were decent. Egypt midfielder Elneny justified his selection ahead of Granit Xhaka with an excellent performance screening the visitors’ defence. William schemed ahead of him and Arsenal enjoyed the majority of possession.

But they never really looked as though they believed they could score.

Alexandre Lacazette might have done had Victor Lindelof not nudged Aubameyang’s pass away from him.

Willian skimmed the bar with shortly afterwards and Bukayo Saka should have done far better when Bellerin picked him out with a right-wing cross.

Aubameyang also lacked conviction when he curled an excellent chance wide after the break but given an opportunity from the spot, the former Borussia Dortmund man delivered, in the process ending Arsenal’s unwanted 29-game wait for an away win against a fellow ‘big six’ rival.

    Solskjaer’s not celebrating his century

    Mason Greenwood
Mason Greenwood (centre) produced one of Manchester United’s two shots on target during the match

This was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s 100th game in charge of United – and it still feels like they are taking a step forward, before another going backwards immediately follows.

Over the past two weeks, United have been excellent at Newcastle, superb in Paris and brilliant against RB Leipzig. Inbetween they were tepid against Chelsea and worse in this game. Add in the 6-1 home defeat by Tottenham just before the international break and it is little wonder questions remain about Solskjaer being the right man for the job.

He stuck with the same diamond formation that worked perfectly against Leipzig, only to find it completely ineffective against Mikel Arteta’s well-drilled side, who did not allow United the space they had enjoyed in midweek.

In addition to Pogba, Bruno Fernandes was anonymous and it can only be concluded Edinson Cavani is still not properly fit, otherwise he would have been introduced far earlier than he was.

As it is, United are only three places above the relegation zone and while the season is still early – and they do have a match in hand – they remain without a home win.

It is the first time this has happened since 1972 and the gap to the clubs for whom they are expected to challenge for honours with is growing.

United’s home slump – the stats

    • Only Chelsea (18) have won more Premier League games against United than Arsenal, with this their 16th victory against the Red Devils.
    • United have taken just seven points from their six Premier League games this season – their lowest tally at this stage since David Moyes’ short stint at the helm in 2013-14 (seven), a campaign in which they went on to finish seventh.
    • United have failed to win any of their opening four top-flight games at Old Trafford for the first time since 1972-73 – a campaign in which they finished 18th.
    • United have conceded five penalties in their past seven Premier League home games; the previous five penalties they had conceded at Old Trafford in the competition came over a period of 101 games.
    • Pogba has conceded three penalties in the Premier League under Solskjaer, while no other Manchester United player has conceded more than one.
    • Aubameyang is the first Arsenal player to score a penalty at Old Trafford in the Premier League – neither of the previous two attempts were converted (Robin Van Persie in 2011 and Gilberto Silva in 2006).

  • Court Rules Child Support Not Source Of Income To Support Women’s Lavish Lifestyle

Court Rules Child Support Not Source Of Income To Support Women’s Lavish Lifestyle

The lavish lifestyle of a child should not be equated to their “best interest” and a source of income for the other partner, the Family Division of the High Court in Mombasa has affirmed.

The court suspended an order requiring a man to bear 70 per cent of parental responsibility.

While suspending the directive by a Children’s Court, Justice Mugure Thande described the order as punitive to the man, and that it negates the equality principle in parental responsibility.

The judge said she was satisfied that there is sufficient ground to interfere with and vary the order of the Children’s Court, in so far as the contribution ratio is concerned and the sum payable as maintenance.

    Children’s court

“Accordingly, I set aside the order that contribution be at the ratio of 70:30 and the order that the man pay Sh45,500, being his share of monthly contribution. I substitute, therefore, an order that the man shall pay to the woman, on or before the fifth day of each month, the sum of Sh30,000, being his contribution towards the upkeep of the children,” said the judge.

“For the avoidance of doubt, all other orders remain the same. This being a matter concerning the parties’ children, there shall be no order as to costs,” added Justice Thande.

The Children’s Court had directed that the man solely pay school fees and school-related expenses. In addition, he was to cater for the children’s entertainment while with the children and provide clothing on a 50:50 ratio.

Further, he was to pay Sh45,500 per month, being his 70 per cent contribution.

After their marriage collapsed, the woman identified as CM in 2016 court documents, filed the case against the man also identified as DN at the Children’s Court seeking several orders in respect of their children.

    Parental responsibility

The woman sought for a declaration that both of them have equal parental responsibility over the two children and their custody, care and control be vested in her. She also wanted the man compelled to contribute Sh105,700 monthly maintenance for the children, obtain medical cover, pay school fees and meet educational expenses for the minors.

After listening to the case, the Children’s Court in a judgment, granted the woman her request but placed the children under legal custody of both of them. The two were also ordered to retain the children in their respective medical covers and provide clothing for them.

Each party was to cater for the children’s entertainment while with them. The woman was to provide shelter for the children and have actual physical custody, with limited access granted to the man on alternate weekends and half the school holiday.

    Punitive directive

What angered the man was the directive that he shoulders the larger share of the children’s upkeep yet the woman was also salaried.

He argued before the Appellate Court that parental responsibility is shared equally and that should the punitive directive stand, he would literally remain with nothing as he was servicing two loans. He said the woman misled the court that she undertook a pay cut.

“No explanation was given that she had gotten a pay cut. The woman is not genuine in her claim and is seeking to enrich herself,” says the man.

DN further said it was illogical that he pays school fees of Sh86,900 and buy clothes for the children, take care of medical needs and entertainment, and still pay an additional Sh45,500, for food and upkeep. He pleaded with Justice Thande to disturb the judgment of the Children’s Court as it was exploitative and exorbitant.

The woman, however, argued that parental responsibility though equal, is gauged by the financial muscle of individual parent. She said the trial magistrate was right in arriving at the ratio of contribution because the court considered their income.

    Article 53

She blamed the man for setting a high standards for the children, noting that he gave them a life she could not manage on her own.

“He cannot now deviate from the same as this would cause trauma on the children. I urge the court not to interfere with the discretion of the trial magistrate,” said the woman.

Article 53 of the Constitution provides that every child has the right to parental care and protection, which includes equal responsibility of the mother and father to provide for the child, whether they are married to each other or not.

While deciding this dispute, Justice Thande relied on Section 94(1) of the Children’s Act, which offers guidance that courts should consider when making an order for financial provision for the maintenance of a child. The considerations include income or earning capacity, property and other financial resources, which the parties or any other person in whose favour the court proposes to make an order, have or are likely to have in the foreseeable future.

    Another family

The Judge said the trial court was also to consider the parties’ financial needs, obligations, or responsibilities. The Appellate Court found that no evidence was placed before the trial court to support the figures given by the parties regarding their earnings and loans.

“Without any supporting documents, it could very well be that both parties earn more than what they actually stated in court,” noted the judge.

Court records show that the man earned more than the woman, but has another family. The judge was concerned that the woman concealed evidence when she produced an eight-month old pay slip as her current one.

“When all these factors are taken into account, I find that there is sufficient reason for this court to interfere with the finding of the trial magistrate on the ratio of contribution,” said the judge.

The man said the trial court erred in awarding the amount for food and shopping separately. He argued that the decision to award Sh32,050 for the children’s food and still award a further sum for shopping was punitive and exploitative.

    High living standards

In his appeal, he faults the trial magistrate for arriving at a figure of Sh65,000 for maintenance whereas the amount ought to have been Sh59,920.

“My 70 per cent contribution should have been Sh41,944, which in my view is also too high. I urge this court to relook at the finding and make a fresh award as I was overburdened,” lamented the man.

In the end, the judge said it was clear the woman was more interested in maintaining the high standard he had already set for the children,” at the expense of the man.

“She has equated this “high standard to the best interest of the children. Little wonder she stated in her submissions that the monthly sum of Sh32,050 for food “is actually modest. In the present case, as demonstrated herein, this court has found that the decision of the trial magistrate is punitive to the man,” said the judge.

Justice Thande said that though an Appellate Court should be slow in interfering with the exercise of the discretion of other courts, the court may only tinker with a decision, if it is satisfied that the discretion of that court was exercised injudiciously, like the case in question.

  • A Man In Nyeri Could Enter The Guinness Book Of World Records As The Oldest Human On Planet

A Man In Nyeri Could Enter The Guinness Book Of World Records As The Oldest Human On Planet

Kenya could enter the Guinness Book of Records for having the oldest man on planet earth currently if a DNA test on Julius Wanyondu Gatonga confirms him as aged 136 as indicated on his national identity card.

The supercentenarian who was born and brought up in Mukurweini, Nyeri County is not even in the Wikipendia (the free web encyclopedia) list of the 50 living oldest people in the world though according to his identity card, he is 19 years older than the current holder of the slot Kane Tanaka of Japan.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Kane Tanaka has clocked 117 years having been born on January 2, 1903. She was confirmed as the oldest person alive in March 2020.

According to the same encyclopedia, Frenchman Jean Calment is listed as the oldest person to have ever lived in modern times. Calment who was born on, February 21, 1875 but died on, August 4, 1997 at the age of 122 years, 164 days. So if the date of birth of Wanyondu as stated in his Identity card is anything to go by, he would break Calment’s age record by a whopping 14 years!

It is against this backdrop that the great, great grandfather’s family has called upon any interested party including both county and national governments as well as the Guinness World Records to facilitate a DNA test on him to verify his age.

“As you Know during those colonial days the level of illiteracy was very high and so my father’s birth date was not recorded. Going by the ancient stories he has been telling us he could be even older than the dates on his ID,” claimed his 76-year-old son with the second wife Jackson Gatonga.

In the sleepy village of Weru, Mukurwe-ini Sub-county, Nyeri, Wanyondu is led out of his house by his son Jackson Gatonga, 76. “Baba ũrȋ na agenȋ,” (Father, you have visitors). At a first glance, one could mistake that the supercentenarian is in his late 80s but the reality hits when you see his national Identity Card (ID).

Wanyondu was born in 1884 according to his ID but his family contends he might have been born three years earlier according to his own account on the matter. Standing about 5 feet, the jovial chocolate-faced man  says he belongs to the “Rȋka rȋa thimu” (Telephone age group), a group that was circumcised in 1908 when the telephone network was being connected in Nairobi and Mombasa. Going by Wanyondu’s indicated date of birth, he faced the knife at the age of 24 years. In those days, males were circumcised in their twenties.

Uranjũria ciũria icio nȋkȋ? (Why are you asking me these questions?) Wanyodu asks in Kikuyu.  Tũrȋ ciana ciaku na tũrenda kũmenya thiri ya mũtũrȋre ta waku. (We are your children and we would be pleased to know the secrets of living long like you,” one of us answered in Kikuyu.

He laughs displaying a set of white dentures and says the secret is found in eating indigenous foods like arrow roots, sweet potatoes, njahi, bananas and traditional vegetables like ‘hatha’ (stinging nettle). The foods, the father of ten children says, protects one from illnesses and makes them strong. He abhors feeding on junk food that has little nutritional value.

The patriarch to whom loins over 150 living souls could be traced says he married his first wife who bore him a boy and a girl. The boy who was the first born died at his early age but the girl, now an old woman, is married in Kirinyaga County. They had eight other children with his second wife. Three are now deceased but five, including his son Jackson Gatonga born in 1944, are alive.

In his youth, Wanyondu was employed as a houseboy by an Indian in Nairobi earning Sh3 monthly. He later joined the East African Railways (now Kenya Railways) before quitting and returning home to farm. He said he engaged in coffee and dairy farming.

At the rural village, the supercentenarian said he was a great dancer and entertained villagers with Kikuyu traditional dances; Mugoiyo and Gichukia which attracted huge crowds.

Life changed for the worse when the state of emergency was declared in 1952 and Wanyondu was arrested and detained at the infamous Manyani detention camp for supplying food and other necessities to the fighters in the forest.

Mr. Julius Wanyondu Gatoka, 136 years, takes through KNA about his journey of life at his home in Weru village, Mihuti, Mukurweini sub county

He bitterly reminisces with regrets that his three children died of starvation while he was being held in Manyani as the colonialists would not allow his wife to go out to look for food for them.

He vividly remembers the First World War (WW1 1914-1918), the Second World War (WW2 1939-1945), and the Mau Mau war for independence. Besides, he says he was already an adult when Harry Thuku, one of the pioneers in the development of modern African nationalism in Kenya, was arrested on March 14, 1922 in connection with his political activities.

Thuku’s arrest sparked two days of demonstrations that were led by one Mary Muthoni Nyanjiru. The first demonstration, on the March15, 1922 went on peacefully, ending after a public prayer for Thuku’s safety. However the next morning, thousands of  Thuku’s supporters gathered around the Nairobi police station to demand his release from detention. The police eventually opened fire killing at least 25 of them. Thuku was exiled, without charge or trial to Kismayu in the present-day Somalia.

According Gatonga, Mzee Wanyondu was among the people who went to pay bride price for the late mother to a 90-year-old neighbour mzee Macharia Githaiga. Macharia is now house-ridden at the same village due complications related to aging.

“And imagine Macharia who is the fifth and last born in their family, had not even been born when Mzee Wanyondu took part in his mother’s traditional marriage rights,” claimed Gatonga adding that even during his childhood, his father was well advanced in age to qualify to take part in such a respected ceremony.

Though his hearing is failing as one has to speak louder for him to hear, Wanyondu’s other senses are perfect. He can clearly see and recognize visitors who call on him.

Gatonga says his father has no history of sickness apart from the stomach surgery he went through to try and resolve the aches he experienced in the belly.  “His health is okay but sometimes complains of stomach ache,” Gatonga said.

The supercentenarian does not eat solid food but traditional nutritious foods prepared by the family members led by Gladys Mwihaki, wife to his third born child with the second wife Mr. John Nguru Wanyondu.

He advises the youths to stop consuming alcohol and smoking if they want to live long. He tells them to start engaging in activities that would generate income and eat from their sweat. Besides, he advises the youth to be God-fearing and embrace Christian values reminding them that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9: 10)

Gatonga says his father has inculcated in them the value of peace, honesty and hard work that everybody should emulate. “He has never had any quarrel with anyone neither have I ever heard of him being accused of dishonesty. He has educated us to the highest level we could individually attain,” he said.

The supercentenarian is a staunch PCEA faithful and says only God knows his time to die. He prays for his family and visitors, beseeching God to give them good health and replenish all their needs when in short supply.

    Exif_JPEG_420

Wanyondu’s family celebrates his life every August but due to the outbreak of Covid-19 this year, it was forced to shelve the ceremony. “We would not like to expose him to the virus. We are a large family and having only 15 people for such a highly rated ceremony due to social distancing, would have diminished its importance. We want would have loved each and every family member to be present,” Gatonga said.

One of the major challenges that the modern world’s Methuselah’s family has faced is registering him with the national health insurer NHIF as computers do not accept pre-1890 birthdates.

“He is deemed too old for the system, since his ID indicates he was born in 1884 and the computers only accept birth dates from 1890,” said Mr.  John Macharia, an agent of NHIF based in Mukurwe-ini in an article appearing on Sunday Nation of, August 26, 2012.

In the article, Macharia added that the family members of Mzee Wanyondu, then aged 126, visited his office seeking medical cover for their ageing parents in March 2012 but the old man’s name was rejected by the NHIF computer system.

Macharia said they resolved to use his then 89-year old second wife Beth Wanjiru (now deceased) as the contributor, as Wanyondu (then aged 128) had completely been rejected by the system.

Asked by KNA whether they managed to register the man with NHIF recently, his fifth born son John Nguru answered: “No. We repeatedly tried again to no avail. We finally decided, as a family, to meet his medical expenses whenever he fell sick. We visited Mukurwe-ini and Nyeri NHIF offices but received the same answer; his data could not be captured in the insurer’s computer system due to his age.”

Supercentenarian Julius Wanyondu with some of his children, grand and great grand children in his weru village home during the interview recently.

Would you like to live to that age? If so then you have heard how, from the horse’s mouth; shun junk food, consume traditional foods rich in nutrients, put God first and exercise integrity.

Nyeri County is renowned for attracting national and global attention by producing great leaders and athletes. The county has at other times pulled surprises that left many in stitches. I have in mind the drama that unfolded when a man, Lemma Ayanu, who was claimed to be the lost freedom fighter Gen Stanley Mathenge was airlifted from Ethiopia to Nairobi, his reception by dignitaries, his treatment at a five-star hotel and his unceremonious deportation from the country.

General Mathenge and Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi Wachiuri, the Mau Mau war heroes hailed from Nyeri. The founder of the World Scouts Movement Baden Powel and his wife were buried here. Other great people are the late environmentalist and conservationist Prof Wangari Mathai who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2004, the third President of the Republic of Kenya Mr. Mwai Kibaki, fiery retired PCEA Cleric Dr. Timothy Njoya, athletes Catherine Ndereva and Douglas Wakiihuri and the list continues, but perhaps Wanyondu could catapult the region’s attention if his age is confirmed through DNA as his family requests.

This region that hosts two major water towers, the Aberdares and Mt Kenya was also the ‘home’ to Sister Irene Stefani Nyaatha who was beatified in 2015. Unfortunately, Nyeri has also made history as the county that has had four governors since the inception of devolution after two sitting bosses died in office. The first governor Nderitu Gachagua succumbed to cancer and was succeeded by Mwangi Mathai while Dr. Wahome Gakuru died through a road accident barely three months into office and his deputy Mutahi Kahiga took over.

  • Meet Man Who Has Gone Almost 80 Years Without Shaving, Combing Or Washing His Hair

Meet Man Who Has Gone Almost 80 Years Without Shaving, Combing Or Washing His Hair

DONG HOA, Vietnam (Reuters) – While coronavirus lockdowns caused many men across the world to grow their hair longer than usual, none compare with Vietnam’s Nguyen Van Chien who has gone almost 80 years without a trim.

The 92-year-old from the southern Mekong Delta region is the proud owner of five-metre long dreadlocks, owing to his belief in a faith that prescribes leaving untouched what a person is born with.

“I believe if I cut my hair I will die. I dare not to change anything, not even combing it,” Chien told Reuters in his village about 80km (50 miles) west of Ho Chi Minh City.

“I only nurture it, cover it in a scarf to keep it dry and clean and looking nice.”

Chien, who worships nine powers and seven gods, believes it was his calling to grow his hair, which he bundles up under an orange turban.

Nguyen Van Chien, 92, sits for a portrait to show his 5-meter long hair which according to him, has not been cut for nearly 80 years, at his home in Tien Giang province, Vietnam, August 21, 2020.
    REUTERS/YEN DOUNG

He was required to trim it when at school, but left after third grade and decided never to cut, comb or wash it again.

“I remembered my hair was black, thick and strong. I combed it, untangled it to make it smooth. But when I heard the calling from the divine power, I knew immediately that I was chosen,” he said.

“I touched my hair and overnight it has became really hard. It has attached to my head and became a thing of its own.”

Chien follows a near-obsolete faith known as “Dua”, the coconut religion, named after its founder who claimed he survived only on coconuts to retain his vitality. Dua is banned in Vietnam and categorised as a false belief.

Chien’s fifth son, Luom, helps him to manage his giant locks.

He too believes in the connection between hair and mortality, having seen a man pass away after trying to re-attach his hair with string.

“These things look simple but they are sacred,” said 62-year-old Luom.

Kisii Man Returns Home After 45 Years, Family Flee Thinking He’s A Ghost

When Ezekiel Ayieta disappeared from his Nyangoge home in Nyamira at the age of 25, his youngest brother Jackson Ouru was only 3. Now 70, Ayieta decided to return home after 45 years and Ouru couldn’t recognize him at all.

According to The Standard, For the 45 years that Ayieta lived in Central Kenya, he never communicated with his family. His parents and kin had long forgotten about him.

He had officially earned himself the title of Omonyamwaka, a label for men who went away and forgot about their families. Men whose whereabouts are not well known.

Ayieta, together with five other young men embarked on a journey to explore Mount Kenya forest for timber business. However, things didn’t go as planned. The other four are now dead and only he can tell their stories.

It was until last week that Ayieta returned to his village that he had run away from. Apparently, coronavirus pushed him back home, the thought of dying fat from home gave him enough disturbance. Sick and hungry, he made his way home.

Only his nephew, Bishop Changamu, could identify him. Many others took off on seeing him, believing he was a ghost.

He’s now reunited with his native family and expected to be built a house on his inherited village land.

  • “Sada cars”

    “Sada cars”

Well! If you know Sadaka-tithes then worry less about “Sada car”?.

Although Kenyans do not have the privilege to know how much such pastors make from tithes and offerings they collect, it is easy to estimate from the lives lived by their families, the posh cars they drive around and the estates they move into.

  • Domestic Violence, Patrick Ndeda Sent My Mother To The Grave

Domestic Violence, Patrick Ndeda Sent My Mother To The Grave

    By Vanessa W

    #domesticviolence

That’s my mom to the left, and now that’s my mom to the right….

I have never been one to pen my heart out but my heart is beyond crushed … a lot of times rattled with anger and helplessness. I can’t get any justice for my mom but I can at least be honest about what we all went through …

Great couple right …. many people knew mom as Esther Winter, Winter Ndeda … it all depended on what name Patrick wanted her to use. Yeah, that’s how much he controlled my mom. To me she was just mom, my everything.

The guy, That’s my step dad. Patrick Odhiambo Ndeda, most people know him as “Pare” “Pare paga” , former Director @ktn @nationmedia @citizentv and @radioafrica or kiss fm as most of us know it.

Anyone that knew my mom admired her strength, her class, she was beautiful, hardworking, ever smiling, a lady with a pure heart, super prayerful too. Just pure… She was that and so much more. A loving grandmother, a daughter, a sister, a cousin, an aunt, our mom.

But man , The tears and trauma she went through … are quite the opposite of what anyone would see. I see the story of Qui Gitonga and cant help to see the similarities … only difference is my mom is gone. I’ll never get to see her again. The pain I have as a daughter, the pain I’ve had to watch our family deal with …. My heart breaks times over … no child deserves to see a parents scars from a beating she took, to watch her Get treatment for broken wrists that her husband tries to lie that she fell (we all know what causes spiral fractures) , from orbital fractures, strangle marks on occasion… I type this with my stomach and anxiety kicking in. I still remember running out of my room as a teenager begging Patrick to stop hitting my mom, I still remember my moms screams “Patrickkkkkkkkkkkkk, Patrickkkkkkkkkkk stoppppppppp” ………. etched in my head. Trauma that I’m still learning to deal with because the truth is I grew up in such a toxic home ! I had to accept that because for a long time I thought it was normal. I always lived in fear of losing my mom. And just recently my biggest fear slapped me in my face.

Patrick and his wife he abused to death.

There is never ANY reason for a man to hit a woman. NEVER ! And the minute you find yourself trying to justify why …. you missed the whole point.

Abusers have certain traits, always charming and well put together. I grew up in this house where my step dad Patrick Ndeda, abused my mother for years !!! Always promised he would stop but just found ways to make sure I never found out. Or any family members to that matter. Slowly reduced her friends from many to a handful. Took her phones when he didnt want her to talk to people.. me included. she fell into a deep funk of depression, and always having to bring herself out of it. He would sit there and let people think mom just went down and under and was not communicating. He slowly through the years painted this picture of an alcoholic person … slowly drafting his way to finish her. Either beat her up and make her miserable and depress her to drunkenness OR just do it. One of these is the reason she’s not here. I see right through his BS though, we all do. And then I wake up to a call that Patrick woke up at 0400 am and found mom cold, didn’t call neighbors, didn’t scream, didn’t call an ambulance, just sat there waiting for my family to come see mom in bed and then call the cops. A thought process that I’ll never understand.

He is the perfect definition of a narcissist! He always found ways to turn it around and make it be about my mom. If my mom ever told you what he did to her you would say there’s no way !

She only drank when he beat her up.. Because the same person kicking you in the face needs you to get up and put make up over your eye to go and seal a deal, pitch business ideas to multiple places so she could bring money home and take care of all expenses.

For years I tried to figure it out, to help save my mom from all this… anyone that knows me well knows this all too well. Last year was supposed to be the start of a new life, she ran away after he beat her up leaving her lifeless on the floor saying he would come and quote “finish her.”
He then went to lunch and to take a walk “creating a perfect alibi”. My mother called me screaming, my whole family rallied up to get her out of there … oh this made him mad. What’s will happen to his Reputation? What will I tell people ? Winter went on vacation .. winter went out to business…. NOPE ! how about I beat up Winter so bad! By Gods grace we got her out before he came back. But as we all know narcissistic people have a way with their victims. And mom, she just genuinely loved him and believed him. I feel like the Kenya police failed us , even after filing a report nothing happened. It’s like paperwork that’s just stored. Nobody fights for women. Does someone have to be dead to get attention? I’m just tired… I really am. My life has been one heck of a rollercoaster. My mom deserves a voice.

Esther with injuries from Patrick’s assault.

To any friends of my mom who tried to help her , I thank you. To those who claim to be her friends and knew but did nothing, idk …..
Domestic violence doesn’t only affect the people getting hit, it affects everyone around them.

I probably have a lifetime of therapy to do … My mom didn’t deserve this.

That’s my story. That’s my reality. I pray God keeps guiding us through.
