Kerugoya Deceased Bodaboda Rider Wives Drama

This is my husband! Three women in Kerugoya had strongly stood up for a fight to bury the dead bodaboda rider who had died.

The physical and  verbal confrontation at the Kerugoya referral Hospital Mortuary in Kirinyaga County hit many mourners who had arrived to bid the farewell to the late rider by a surprise.

On Wednesday, the trio wrestled as they struggle to sign the burial permit for the deceased Peter Mwangi. The deceased was involved in an accident last week.

Janet Wambui, Lydia Wanjiru and Susan Wakuthii, shunted each other out of the way as they fought to get into the morgue. The fights send the mourners into a running spree.

It took Police force to move in to separate the aggressive women. The fight was violent that forced the Police had to cock their guns.

“I’m the first wife of Mr Mwangi and I must bury his remains,” shouted Ms Wambui.

“It is my right to bury my husband and no one should block me,” said Ms Wanjiru.

“I had to rush to the mortuary and stop my alleged co-wives from taking away the body of my husband,” Ms Wakuthii said.

Shocked mourners stood at a distance watching the scuffle unfold. The police have ordered the mortuary attendants not to release the body until the fighting parties came to an agreement.

    Government Abandons New SGR

Kenya has been rolling deep down into public debt in the name of development. Government handlers have been on the frying pot for advising the government of projects that are not profit generating at the expense of the tax payers.

Recently a Chinese loan worth Ksh.374 billion for the extension of the SGR from Naivasha to Malaba didn’t materialize. With some saying that Chinese now wants the government to prove that they are going to pay for the first loan.

The government of Kenya now has plans to modernize the old railway track to link a newer line to neighbouring Uganda at a cost of Ksh.21.3billion.

Sources in the government indicate that unidentified private financier has offered to fully back up the project. This is almost 15 times cheaper than building another almost modern railway with Chinese loan.

also read:Container Freight Station Owners To Lose Sh35B Investment In SGR’s Cargo Debacle.

The SGR was under  China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative, a multi-billion dollar series of infrastructure projects upgrading land and maritime trade routes between China and Europe, Asia and Africa.

The Nairobi-Mombasa SGR that was launched at a cost of Ksh 323.9 billion then later linked with Nairobi-Naivasha line costing Ksh.151.7billion might sound as a serious wastage joke when the government links it to Naivasha-Malaba track that will cost Ksh 21.3 billion.

“We need to make sure that when we commission the SGR in August, we have connectivity to Uganda from the SGR so we have to rehabilitate that line to make sure it is properly functional,” said CS James Macharia,

Macharia also said that using Ksh.15 billion to rehabilitate decades-old line from Malaba on the border with Uganda and using the remaining amount construct another short track connecting to the SGR at Naivasha within a year would be a faster option than building another SGR.

  • D+ Trainee Teachers Dismissed

    D+ Trainee Teachers Dismissed

Education CS has issued a directive to terminate the learning of over 3, 000 trainee teachers.

Currently we had 3,265 trainee teachers who were admitted to various colleges in Kenya following a directive in October 2018 by then Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed.

The teachers from hardship faced areas had sued the government and the court ruled in their favor.

Former education CS Amina Mohamed allowed students from hardship areas who scored a D+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams to join teacher training colleges to train as primary school teachers.

Some of the Counties that were allowed to admit the D+ trainees are Turkana, Samburu, Wajir, Marsabit, Isiolo, Mandera, Garissa, Lamu, Tana River, West Pokot, Kwale, Kilifi and Taita Taveta.

The then education CS also named sub-counties in  Homa Bay, Narok, Baringo and Kajiado  that could also admit D+ students to TTCs.

    also read:Manchester United Hopes Shuttered

To their surprise immediately from holidays, Dr Kipsang issued a circular to principals of teacher training colleges clarifying that because a case filed by the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) over the admission requirement had been resolved through consensus, the D+ students would no longer be allowed in colleges.

Abdishukri Adan Muhumed a resident of northern Kenya has sued all the 27 TTCs, the Education ministry and the Attorney-General on behalf of the over 3,000 trainee teachers who got terminated by the directive.

Mr Muhumed argues that the discontinuation is unfair to the trainees. He said that the decision, threat and/or announcement of the said discontinuance of the commenced teachers training is arbitrary, capricious and untenable.

Justice Makau certified the muhumed’s case urgent but turned down his request to issue an interim order to re-admit the D+ students until he hears the response from the sued parties.

Justice Makau had ordered that the sued parties be served by a newspaper advertisement, which ran on Friday last week.

TCS CEO Nancy Macharia upholds that those wishing to train in early childhood development education must have a D+ and above, those joining diploma colleges must have a C+ and those going for a bachelor’s degree must attain at least a C+.

Former GDC Boss Dr Silas Simiyu in Shs 100 Million Con Game

The socialites-loving Simiyu has gone underground, and is probably on the run, after conning a company a whopping Shs 100 million in the pretext of securing it a tender at GDC

Disgraced former Geothermal Development Company (GDC) CEO Dr Silas Masinde Simiyu has apparently resorted to conning and obtaining money through false pretenses from business people only four years after leaving the lucrative position.

The socialites-loving Simiyu has now gone underground, and is probably on the run, after conning a company a whopping Shs 100 million in the pretext of securing it a tender at GDC.

Simiyu who styles himself as a fundraising consultant and geothermal energy expert convinced the owners of the company (identity hidden) that he would secure them the multibillion tender.

He claimed that he was still influential at GDC and could decide who gets what tender.

    Jimmy Wanjigi.

The owners delivered the money (in Kenyan denomination) to Simiyu’s hideout in Lavington, Nairobi just a few days before 2018 Christmas.

Our investigations revealed that the money was delivered to Simiyu in a pickup.

We also confirmed that Simiyu, who spent years living in a hotel in Upperhill area, spent the money on a villa in the upmarket Lavington estate.

After receiving the money, Simiyu stopped taking phone calls from the company directors.

The directors were later shocked to learn that Simiyu was double crossing them and also taking money from a rival firm.

Simiyu was in 2015 arrested by EACC and charged with corruption over the irregular procurement of Rig Move Service in the 2012/2013 financial year.

Simiyu was charged alongside the then company secretary Praxidis Siasi and all members of the company’s tender committee who included Abraham Saat, Nicholas Karume Weke, Peter Ayodo Omenda, Godwin Mwangae Mwawongo, Caleb Mbayi and Bruno Mugambi.

Simiyu was also accused of abuse of office and failing to ensure proper management of public funds.

GDC is set to carry out the groundbreaking ceremony for the first of the 3 power plants to be constructed by independent power producers at the Menengai Geothermal Project.

GDC has lincesed 3 IPPS – Orpower 22 Limited, Sosian Menengai Geothermal Power Limited and Quantum East Africa Power Limited.

Simiyu has been bragging to anybody who cares to listen that he was behind the successful tendering of all the three companies.

Simiyu’s reign at GDC was ridden with corruption and sex scandals.

Not only did he become a spanner boy for renowned wheeler dealer Jimi Wanjigi, Simiyu also slept with most female employees in the company.

Wanjigi actually bought Simiyu the then top of the range Toyota Land Cruiser VX worth over Shs 11 million.

In return, Simiyu ensured that only the Chinese firms represented by Wanjigi scooped the multibillion contracts at GDC.

He was also known as a womanizer who only promoted the ladies he had bedded.

Top of the lsit of employees he bedded included Lydia Odhiambo, tecla Mutie, Marietta Mutonya and a Miss Sylvia.

  • Kenya Airways No Longer Profitable

    Kenya Airways No Longer Profitable

The former Pride of Africa, Kenya Airways, announced its annual financial performance this week.

KQs Chairman, Michael Joseph said that 2018 was a very challenging year for the loss making airline.

Kenya airways posted a pretax loss of 7.59 billion Kenyan shillings an equivalent of $74.93 million.

In the last annual financial report, 2017, they posted the loss of Ksh 9.44 billion.

The battling to remain relevant and regain profits Airline’s chief executive Sebastian blames the loss to high fuel costs.

Sebastian has also said that KQ has super expensive personnel and their aircraft dealers are expensive.

The CEO and the Chief Executive said they’re looking at other avenues to minimise the loses.

“We started mitigating this risk by implementing a new hedging policy with minimal risk. Kenya Airways offers other services, technical and ground handling to domestic, regional and international customers” Sebastian emphasized.

“We have however seen growth in passenger numbers. Management team have done a great job under the circumstances and thanks to the board for massive support. KQ is not just an airline but a strategic asset for the country. We should be proud of what KQ has done for Kenya & support, we can help improve the country’s GDP and create employment opportunities despite our challenges. We need support from media, investors and government,” KQ’s Chairman Michael Joseph.

The recurring losses have raised questions about the current leadership of the airline. With some saying that the financial loses are tricks to help the airline chiefs to bargain for their full running of the JKIA operations.

Kenya airways seems to have never bought affordable fuel. They complain every time of cost of fuel. Where do they get it?

However, the New Symbolic route is still below the much expectations.

Kenya airways has been forced to reduce was the number of its flights to New York from once per day to only five trips per week.

Reports indicate that the route has only had 15,000 customers in a Year.

“I do not consider it to be a lucrative route. There is nothing lucrative about flying to New York,” KQs CEO, Sebastian Mikosz says.

Seems the new added routes have no much impact to KQs financial boost programs. They are adding more expenses to an already loss making company.

Last year, KQ had added Mauritius, Libreville and Mogadishu to its destinations.

They further included Rome and Geneva to its routes after signing the New York deal.

Despite all this, the carrier expects to add two Boeing 787 Dreamliner planes back to its fleet later this year. The planes had been leased to Oman Air.

Sixty percent of Kenyans had already smoked or drunk cannabis, mostly 36 percent use it to treat pain, depression and anxiety.

Baby Skin Care and Boils Treatment

Everyone wishes to take maximum good care of their baby(ies). It’s everyone’s wishes to get a baby too. Today we learn how to take care of your babies skin.

Babies have the most sensitive skins ever recorded. Their immune system is still developing. This makes them vulnerable to many infections.

Most weather conditions are unfavourable to babies skin. In such conditions, babies may develop rashes on their skins called boils.

A boil is a tender lump that appears on the skin because of some infection in an oil gland or hair follicle.

Staphylococcus Aureus is the infectious bacterium cause of boils.

The bacteria is mostly present on the skin. It gets into the babies skins through sweat pores or small skin cracks.

This infection then grows into a painful lump of pus. Boils erupt everywhere, be it on the face, back, neck, shoulders, thighs, and buttocks.

They are also said to be contiguous. If left unattended, they spread to other areas of the body. People coming in close contact with the baby’s skin may be at risk of getting infected too.

The infection are transmissible through sharing of towels, bedsheets or toothbrushes.

The doctor advice and check up is always recommended if you sport a boil on your baby.

A thorough physical examination is done by the Doctor. They also test a wad of the boil to rule out any other underlying medical reasons for the appearance of boils.

In case the boil bursts, it’s advisable you wipe the area clean with some cotton and antiseptic wash.

After drying, cover it with gauze or dressing to prevent the babies from touching them

Medical findings forbids squeezing or piercing the boil.
This not only affects babies skin but also results in scarring spread of infection.

A medical magic that can be self administered is boils on the baby’s head. Rubbing alcohol on the area treats the boil.
