Getting Into The World Of The Rich Activists of Civil Society

Civil society is defined as the “aggregate of non-governmental organizations and institutions that manifest the interests and will of citizens. It is also defined as the ‘the third sector”; coming after “government” and “business.”

Civil society is also referred to as the “Fifth Estate,” in the pecking order of the three estates of government and the fourth estate (media). Civil society institutions promote ideological alternatives to society, without aiming at financial profits. They exist for the social good of society.

Civil society mainly comprises of International NGO’s; e.g. World Vision, Urgent Action, Action Aid, USAID, PLAN, etc. and Local NGO’s; e.g. Kenya Scouts, Kenya Red Cross Society, IED, Cradle, CREAW, etc.
Since the end of the “Era of good feelings” in the 19th century, Civil society became an indispensable component of authentic human development all over the world. They focus on the most vulnerable of communities. Their projects and programs have translated to massive improvements in the quality of lives of people. Some of the broad programmatic areas of CSO’s include Education, Health, Civic Empowerment, Water and Sanitation, Human rights advocacy, Social Accountability, Children, youth and gender empowerment, workers’ rights, environmental rights and many others.

To fund their programs and projects and meet operational costs, Civil Society depends on donations from billionaire businessmen cum philanthropists. Many of these billionaires give colossal amounts of money to charity initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Caribbean’s. Donations come from the rich and famous to the nondescript and anonymous in Europe, North America and lately Africa.

The world has heard of billion dollar aid from corporate magnates like Warren Buffet, Bill, and Melinda Gates, George Soros, Chuck Feeny, John Davison Rockefeller, Michael Bloomberg, David Koch, Mo Ibrahim, Tony Elumelu, Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, Strive Masiyiwa and much more. Undeniably, these gracious donations and acts of charity to the poorest of society are not vain. As Sir Winston Churchill once poignantly put it “Never was so much, owed by so many, to so few.”

But amid all the razzle dazzle and hubbub, there is something horribly worrisome happening behind the curtains. The civil society world in Kenya appears to be run by a particular cabal of extremely wealthy individuals. Well….nothing wrong in being rich, but not at the expense of the poor people whom they purport to serve.

They are “life presidents.” These Rich Activists of society remain and refuse to leave the helm of their organizations; they apparently have no term limits. They run these outfits with an iron grip, and in so doing, have managed to accumulate millions of dollars in private wealth.

One wonders whether the dictum of perpetual succession applies to their organizations. One fails to understand if indeed these organizations are private enterprises, or whether they manage them on behalf of the people. It behooves a conscientious mind to realize that no matter how talented and skilled a superintendent is, time must come for that person to create room in an organization, for growth and to benefit from the skills and expertise of other people.
But given the steady flow of aid dollars from philanthropic tycoons, it is unlikely that these Rich activists of Civil society would be planning to retire. Even third world governments beat them on this. The few who retire the only morph from being CEO to executive board chairmen. Others leave, but before the sun sets, they are already a chief executive officer of another CSO. How lucky……?!

These wealthy activists live in sheer opulence, lavishness, and extravagance. They’re chauffeured in the latest SUV’s and reserve for themselves only the finest comfort in land and air. They move from one suburb to another, in search of superfluity. They are the connoisseurs and aficionados, the cream de la cream of society. They are the “haves”, the bourgeoisie; they are the owners of capital. They’re clothed in haute couture and nourish themselves on nothing less than haute cuisine. Catch them in first class flights, traveling to choice destinations around the world. The frequent flier was preordained for them.

The rich Activists of civil society have transformed their organizations into gravy trains. Everybody else in their organizations is indispensable. They deliberately maintain subservient boards and a demoralized and terrified workforce. They are demi-gods, they are untouchable. They appoint and control their so controlled boards and subjugate the often clueless characters into submission. They are never audited by anyone, and if they do, the reports remain confidential; meant for their safes.

A very negligible number of these wealthy activists usually decide to retire altogether. They, however, cannot leave without planting proxies in positions of influence in the organization. Politics is a natural enticement for these retirees. They haplessly arm-twist their lowly, impoverished and brainwashed program beneficiaries, into voting them into Member of Parliament, governors, and senators, etc.

Antonio Gramsci, an Italian sociologist, once said that “Civil society promotes forms of false consciousness which serve their interests.” That truism by Gramsci has been vindicated time and again. It is perplexing that whereas most of these Rich Activists of civil society are the forefront in agitating for government’s transparency and accountability, they are usually the worst culprits. They are engaged in primitive accumulation of wealth, at the expense of the poor communities they are supposed to work for.

These rich Activists of civil society live off deceiving their donors that without them, the apocalypse would come next day. They are masters of conflict, strategy, organization and technique. They are board room vanquishers-articulate, informed, strident and educated. They have vowed to die in office, rich and powerful. They’re callous and cold-blooded in their kingdoms. In there, they make the rules…..
Do you know any of these guys? They’re many!!!

  • Milking The Cow Dry

    Milking The Cow Dry

The late Prof. Ali Mazrui once said that Africa is a continent that produces what it does not consume but consumes what it does not produce. Kenya is not an excuse; the country is in dire need of real leadership but elects thieves instead. Crooks who forge anything to steal from the public coffers, trivial matters like ICC and Amb. Amina Mohamed becoming the Chairperson of AU Commission is given every attention.

We are also conversant with the DP’s shuttle diplomacies through the infamous ‘Hustler’s Jet’ that cost the tax payer over a hundred million for petty reasons. The DP is at again; William Ruto is leading a team to put a strong diplomatic offensive across the 53 African nations to lobby for Amina to become the next Chairperson of AU Commission to replace South Africa’s Nkosazana Zuma.

The move like the 2013 ‘hustlers jet’ will cost the country hundreds of millions with the VIP jet costing between 1.6 to 2.3 million shillings every hour. This was not factored into the budget by the way, and the country has more important things to spend on like the starving families in Turkana and regions that have been hit hard by drought in Tana River County. The regime of the day has portrayed clear misplaced priorities.

And what’s DP’s job description if I may ask? Chief Campaigner? The last time I checked the country had ambassadors in these countries that can help lobby for Amina. The fourth function of the deputy president states that he should not hold any other state or public office, he is now the cap of ‘a chief campaigner.’
The world has enough to satisfy everyman’s need but not enough to satisfy everyman’s greed – Mahatma Gandhi. This is yet another proper scheme to siphon from the public coffers; taxpayers will be milked dry by the ruling elites.

Akothee Humbled In Kisumu As Sensational Nahna Shows Her Dust In A Rare Talent Move

    By Nicholas Olambo
Luo Festival went down in Kisumu attracting a good number of established artists with roots in the lakeside region, among them was an upcoming female artist Elizabeth Adhiambo aka Nahna who was the curtain raiser at the star studded event. The edition of the event was the maiden in the region, supported by Ramogi Fm and Jalang’o of Arena Media, all the previous editions have been held at Nairobi’s Carnivore grounds.

Male artists dominated the list of performers which included three female artists, Akothee, Lady Maurine and upcoming Nahna. Only in her early 20s, the Kisumu based artist was the star of the night outshining big names like Akothee who has collaborated with the continent’s big names like Diamond and Nigeria’s Mr. Flavour.

Nahna took to stage with bravado and unbeatable charisma proving she had the finesse to put the industries protagonists like Akothee to retirement bench. She was breathing fresh talent with an ability to last decades in the fast-changing game. She was the cleanser of the night when Akothee’s theatrics worked no magic but proof that she is only flashy and void of talent.

We are living in times when talent doesn’t matter that much but money, nude photos and videos of women shaking their behinds (twerking) in social media to cause some baby buzz and make them overnight celebrities. The ever-evolving production techniques have also done justice to the less talented artists. The T-Pains and Akothees of this world sound great on records and like frogs on stage.

This is the day the Artist of the night ‘saw red’ and the little known Nahna proved that there is talent in her that if nurtured, the game will rise from its deathbed. With only three songs under her belt, several ‘collabos’ and less than four years in the game, she has won best female artist award (Kisumu) three times. Last year she was the first-ever female artist to win the coveted region’s artist of the year award during the annual Vybez Awards gala.

Her latest project ‘Paro’ which translates into ‘remember’ in English was produced by Side B’s super producer, Ulopa aka Bwana Ngoma. ‘Paro’ is already a big hit enjoying massive airplay and YouTube likes. Nahna is surely a newcomer with a big buzz and bright prospects.

Rumored to be dating one of the industry’s insiders from the lakeside region who could be behind her rapid rise, the talented singer mentors young girls through art. She is a good combination of talent, brains, and beauty. Nahna is a graduate from Kisumu Polytechnic, she holds a degree in Business Management and prepared to take the industry by storm.

  • What It Means For Martha Karua To Throw Her Weight Behind Uhuru Kenyatta Presidency

What It Means For Martha Karua To Throw Her Weight Behind Uhuru Kenyatta Presidency

    By Nicholas Olambo
Martha Karua announced her quest to go for the Kirinyanyaga gubernatorial seat Thursday while addressing the delegates of the flower party (Narc Kenya) at Kianyaga Catholic Church in Kirinyaga. It’s at the same event that Ms. Karua endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta for a second term.

Karua ‘sudden’ support is not surprising, former challengers of President Uhuru Kenyatta from his tribe have all shuttered their presidential dreams to remain ‘politically correct’ in their backyards and within their tribal cocoons. Less than a month ago the former presidential aspirant from the region, Peter Kenneth did a similar thing.

PK abandoned his ambitions to vie the presidency in the coming elections to support Uhuru in a political realignment that would see him become his tribes point man in the post-Uhuru era. Both PK and MK and have sliced their dreams to gubernatorial aspirations in 2017. PK is now salivating for Nairobi’s top job.

Martha Karua said the flower party will not be fielding a presidential candidate in the coming polls and will instead support President Uhuru’s re-election because that is the desire of the electorate of Kirinyaga. MK has been a staunch critic of President Uhuru’s administration that has been characterized by mega scandals, one after the other.

Her choice to support the person whose government she has criticized the most is not anything but desperate kicks of a dying horse, a perfect example of many politicians who lead from behind. Karua who has been working closely with the opposition, Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) but has been missing in public eye for the past two months was categorical that she is not part of the opposition’s Supper Alliance that is still in the making.
She claimed that anyone associating her with the would be Supper Alliance can only be on a witch hunting mission; she is not part of that outfit.

Karua’s stunt is not any different from other politicians from her community who have worked with the Opposition Chief Raila Odinga in the past, some have used him to successfully launch their political career like Margret Wanjiru while people like Karua used the opposition to desperately stay relevant and fold to their tribal groupings at the eleventh hour.
One would argue that it is Karua’s democratic right to support whoever she wants but does the desperate move add any value to the politics of a one-time iron lady whose star went dim soon after resigning from the grand coalition government as the Justice Minister? Hell no, Karua’s mid-day dream of clinching Kirinyaga’s top seat outside Jubilee will not come true even on another planet.

Also aspiring for the position on Jubilee Party is the corruption-stained former devolution CS, Ann Waiguru. It will be an uphill task for Karua to beat either the incumbent or deep-pocketed Waiguru who quit her ministerial job due to public pressure for her involvement in the infamous Shs 1.6 billion NYS scandal. Politics is the best place that looters of public funds buy their way to and Waiguru’s ‘NYS fortune’ may put the last nail on Karua’s political coffin.

So what next after Karua is beaten in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial race?, will her desperate move earn her a cabinet secretary job in case Uhuru wins his re-election, or her ‘shell’ will find a place on the walls of political museums to gather dust?

NIS Agent Sam Wakiaga to Jump into Murky Political Waters In Homabay

    By Nicholas Olambo

The race to clinch Homa Bay gubernatorial seat in the 2017 general elections is taking shape by the day, already three aspirants have expressed their quest to unseat Cyprian Awiti. Former NSIS official Sam Wakiaga, Kasipul Mp Oyugi Magwanga and Enosh Bollo are eying Awiti’s job.

Wakiaga may not have held an elective position in the past but comes out as a serious contender and a threat to the incumbent; his candidature is sending strong shockwaves in the county politics. He cannot be belittled as a small contender, Wakiaga is a known philanthropist with a strong support base that had in the past fronted him to challenge the late Senator Otieno Kajwang’, then Mbita Mp in 2007.

  • Ombudsman: NGO Coordination Board CEO Mahamed Fazul Forged His Academic Credentials And Was Hired Irregularly

Ombudsman: NGO Coordination Board CEO Mahamed Fazul Forged His Academic Credentials And Was Hired Irregularly

The Ombudsman has recommended to the Devolution Cabinet Secretary and Head of Public Service to remove from office the Executive Director of the NGOs Coordination Board Mr. Yusuf Mahamed Fazul. An investigation by the Commission on Administrative Justice has found Fazul unsuitable to hold public office for abuse of power and misconduct. The Ombudsman has further established that Fazul was irregularly appointed as he did not have the requisite qualifications.

CAJ embarked on investigations following complaints that the CEO was underqualified and engaged in gross misconduct of office including misuse of funds, unprocedural procurement processes, irregular appointments and transfer of staff, threatening staff members who raised a finger on his qualifications.

CAJ determined that his 2014 appointment to the post was irregularly made since he didn’t hold a degree. Fazul was discontinued from the Egerton Uni for failure to satisfy the academic standards of the course he was pursuing, Bachelor of Science in biochemistry.

During his interview, Fazul presented forged papers indicating he had a degree from the sane college he was discontinued from. In an attempt to cover up, Fazul withdrew his personal file from the custodian (Human Resources Manager) and removed his records.

The investigations have also determined, Fazul operated with absolute impunity and uncontrollable misuse of funds on unapproved foreign trips, irregular promotions, and transfers of staff. As an authoritarian, he’s been a horror to the employees who ever questions his decisions and most have been pushed to resignation out of frustration.

The Ombudsman has recommended for the CS to fire Fazul over gross misconduct and abuse of office immediately. He’s currently on suspension given to him by Kiunjuri. In respect to irregular promotions, he promoted an officer who was hired as an executive secretary in 2009 through various ranks, some of which do not exist in the organization’s organogram,” it says.

“The said officer now holds the position of guidance and operations manager and acting deputy executive director,” the report explains. CAJ is also praying for the DCI to institute investigations against Fazul over forgery of documents.

Ombudsman also wants Fazul to return to state amount totaling to 8.5M that he has unlawfully earned as net salary in his tenure.

  • Birds Of A Feather? What’s At Stake For DP William Ruto As He Stands By His Crook PA Farouk Kibet On NYS Fraud

Birds Of A Feather? What’s At Stake For DP William Ruto As He Stands By His Crook PA Farouk Kibet On NYS Fraud

    By Nicholas Olambo
The verbal war on corruption is taking different twists with the president having nothing more to do. Horrifying testimonies have been witnessed from key suspects of NYS scandal who have been grilled by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chaired by Rarieda MP, Nicholas Gumbo. Businessman Ben Gethi, Josephine Kabura, and former devolution CS Ann Waiguru have appeared before the PAC.

Waiguru in her defense has adversely mentioned the DP William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet and sycophant Senator Kipchumba Murkomen as the beneficiaries of the infamous Shs 791 million that saw her leave office last year.

Attempts to unearth the truth on the scandal now seem dwindling and dividing Jubilee right in the middle, one group allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and the other to DP William Ruto. Waiguru, a President Kenyatta ally has implicated individuals allied to DP Ruto, mostly Farouk Kibet.

In Farouk’s defense, Ruto is now in exchange of bitter words with former CS, Ann Waiguru. In his Salvo, he told off Waiguru to take responsibility for the stolen millions as she presided over the scandal. Who would have imagined that the government that has no option left to fight corruption would put the nation through desperate and childish blame games and cheap politics?

It’s amazing how the boss became his aide’s spokesman; Farouk should be in a position to defend himself or do the same through his lawyer but not through his boss William Ruto. The war on corruption was long lost when politics took center stage; the likes of Ann Waiguru, Ben Gethi, Josephine Kabura and former PS Mangiti belong to jail, space had been created for their likes if am not wrong.

In defending Kibet the DP appears to be suffering from ‘our man is being targeted syndrome,’ one thing that has over the time derailed fights against corruption. He is insulating Kibet from facing investigations through his full public defense at the same time the administration in which he is a senior official is not throwing the ‘responsible’ Waiguru to jail.

Corruption stained Farouk is known DP’s spanner boy who carries bundles of money to their numerous fundraisers. Investigations have realized that FK made 150 calls to another NYS scandal key suspect Ben Gethi, who liaised with the devolution ministry official to steal the money through phony companies.

The nation has witnessed enough tough and loud talks in public rallies that don’t end corruption but any action on the culprits. The fight will only become real when the necessary and stern measures are taken on all those who mentioned from the big fish like Farouk Kibet to small clerks who mostly face the wrath of the law.

  • How Mike Njeru of Transcend Media Looted Sh100M From Afya House Scandal

How Mike Njeru of Transcend Media Looted Sh100M From Afya House Scandal

We recently exposed how Mike Njeru was involved in the NYS scam that has cost taxpayers up to 3B.

The Devolution ministry had also retained public relations companies as media advisers, including Transcend Media Group (TMG).

Transcend Media Group, for instance, received Sh49.6 million in May 2015 “in respect of event concept cost for hosting Kibera Youth Empowerment Programme” – a presidential function that lasted only a few hours. Mind you there is always a presidential budget for this.

The same company was paid Sh7.9 million for publicity and roll-out of NYS re-branding and Sh48.9 million for delivery of an interim report on consultancy on NYS rebrand contract.

In January 2015, Transcend Media Group was also paid Sh71.2 million for “publicity roll-out of National Youth Service Re-branding” and “implementation of NYS media flighting” and a further Sh32.6 million “for offering consultancy services for the rebranding of NYS.”

Documents indicate that Transcend Media Group, which is also offered many other services to the ministry of devolution, was paid Sh49.6 million for “event concept cost for hosting Kibera Youth Empowerment Programme”. This included organising the evening event to launch a street lighting project on December 11 last year that was attended by the President, Deputy President William Ruto and Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.

It’s now emerging Transcend media which has been mentioned in dozens of scandals is also a beneficiary of the Afya House looting that is put at a 5B figure. It’s unclear as to what Mike Njeru was supplying to be awarded the Sh100M. MOH scandal will remain one of the biggest that ever hit the country despite serious sanitization by the state agencies.

    img-20161107-wa0006

Mike Njeru and Transcend fraud cases dates back to 2003 where he billed IEBC with 200M when Transcend maliciously obtained the IEBC tender through the back door.

We’ve  established that Transcend Media some of the work it does is charged at extortionist rates disproportionate to the work done, it has been paid millions of shillings for doing nothing beyond colluding with rogue State officials to dream up phantom jobs.

  • The Mystery Cat; Corruption Nothing But Economic Terrorism And Why Kenyans Need To Have Faith In Jubilee Government

The Mystery Cat; Corruption Nothing But Economic Terrorism And Why Kenyans Need To Have Faith In Jubilee Government

“Macavity’s a Mystery Cat: he’s called the Hidden Paw,
For he’s the master criminal who can defy the Law,
He’s the bafflement of Scotland Yard, the Flying Squad’s despair:
For when they reach the scene of crime—Macavity’s not there!”

This is the opening verse of Macavity the Mystery Cat, a poem by T.S Elliot published in 1939, which is among a collection of his poems discussing the psychology of a cat. The poem is best remembered when it was recited by the former British high commissioner to Kenya, Sir Edward Clay, at journalists award dinner in February 2005.

A fable is told of the machine that was invented in Japan for arresting thieves. The machine was taken to various countries to curb the problem of theft. It is claimed that in Japan itself, it arrested 40 criminals, In France, it arrested 80 and in Tanzania, it nabbed 30 thieves. When the machine came to Kenya, the machine was stolen!

Another allegory is told of a meeting in Tanzania presided over by the founding president Mwalimu Julius Nyerere. In front of the room, there were two sacks; one with maize, and the other with money.
Nyerere; “If you ask a Tanzanian to choose one sack amongst the two, which one will he choose?”
Everyone (In unison); “The one with the maize!!”
Nyerere; “ And if you ask a Kenyan to choose a sack, which one would he choose?”
Everyone; “The one with the money!!”

    The reaction of Tanzanians would have appeared obvious until Nyerere retorted;
“Wrong!!. If you ask a Kenyan to choose, he will take both!!”

These two stories though intended for comic relief depicts the scorn with which Kenyans are viewed.
In a recent interview on a local TV, renowned Kenyan Advocate Ahmednassir Abdullahi was heard saying that Kenyans were no longer engaging in corruption, they were now looting!

    Sir Edward Clay while addressing Journalists at the dinner said;
“Corruption of one kind and another is so commonplace that the media can only afford to focus on the most flagrant cases. Recent events and almost daily news stories reveal new and emerging scams involving most forms of corruption: Abuse of office, conflict of interest, patronage, favoritism, clientism, grand and petty corruption, and, above all, questionable procurements.”

    A guy is known as Idil Abshir in an Op-Ed in the New York times on 24/08/2016 wrote;
‘’Corruption is nothing new in Kenya, but it has reached unprecedented levels recently, with scandals dogging the current administration almost constantly since it took office in 2013. In Transparency International’s 2015 Corruption Perception Index, Kenya was listed as one of the world’s most corrupt countries, ranking 139out of 168.

It seems that every time we feel we’ve reached a new low, the government surpasses even our own lowest expectations. The scandals range from the insidious, wherein millions of dollars have been stolen or remain unaccounted for, to the downright ridiculous, as when a government ministry justified misappropriating thousands of dollars by claiming it procured ballpoint pens for $85 apiece. President Uhuru Kenyatta has said his government has a zero-tolerance policy on corruption, but given the lack of convictions, many Kenyans have come to regard those statements as lip service.’’

The truth is, Corruption is bad. Corruption leads to massive hemorrhage of the economy of a country. It leads to the unfair and illegal distribution of capital and wealth, and most of all points, deprivation and dispossession of the poor masses at the bottom of the pyramid.
Simply put, corruption is evil, and if it goes unchecked, could cripple the entire substructure of a nation. As lawyer Ahmednassir suggested, corruption should be referred as looting. In my view, Corruption is nothing less than economic terrorism!

Nonetheless, this menace is not unique to Kenya. It is a worldwide phenomenon, but Africa appears to be particularly hit hard. Various countries around the continent have been plagued by various monumental scandals.

From the alleged Gupta and Nkandla scandals in South Africa, the Oil and copper fiascos in Zambia, the Tegeta escrow debacle in Tanzania, the Goldenberg, Anglo-leasing and NYS loot in Kenya, the Trafigura menace in Ivory Coast to the Halliburton disaster of Nigeria in 2010, all point to a continent that is struggling with to contain these economic crimes.
These illustrations also point to the complex and trans-continental nature of corruption. The recent “Panama papers” only slightly reveal how complex and sophisticated the situation is.
    But there are some lingering questions; that refuse to faze out;

Is the war on corruption lost? Can this ferocious, unforgiving, vindictive beast of corruption be slayed, and by who?
The gravity of the fight could only be appreciated in 3D during the recently held State House Summit on Governance and accountability in October 2016, at State house grounds.

To be fair to the Jubilee government, (and kindly ignore my last name), this was a bold attempt by the President to confront corruption head on. It was a clear and open demonstration that the Jubilee government led by Uhuru Kenyatta, was willing to introspect and find solutions to this menace.

I was surprised to learn that even the fiercest critics of government on corruption were invited to meet the President in person; and say it all, in a no-holds-barred setup. It was however even more surprising that Mr. Githongo and David Ndii, who have a history of radical, intrusive and highly opinionated views on governance, never showed up at the summit…Pourquoi Messier? (That’s a story for another day)
The truth of the matter is that the President brought the corruption discussion to his doorstep, and attempted to invite everyone who mattered. What was clear is that Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto expected to hear the true and candid views and assessments from ordinary citizens.

When the President stood to speak at the meeting, one could feel his profound and the deep urge get useful suggestions from the Kenyans. Uhuru Kenyatta even challenged historians to tell Kenyans of any other regime in the history of Kenya; that had been more forthright in fighting corruption, than his government

During the open summit, the President took the initiative to parade his entire anti-corruption battalion to the nation. These were; Harakhe waqo of EACC, Tobiko the DPP, Muhoro the DCI, Githu the AG, Kimani of ARA, Boinett of NPS and Ouko the Auditor General.
The robust debate which ensued at the summit, especially on why progress on fighting corruption was slow, all but demonstrated the lack of instant coffee solutions in tackling corruption.

The battles against economic terrorism continue. ‘’Win some loose some’’ is the name of the game, but surely and verily the war will eventually triumph. We shall overcome!

The battles of corruption are vicious and protracted, especially in the context of a developed democracy like ours. This is an asymmetrical battle, pitting an accused who has amassed an amazonic war chest, against an accuser (Government) who is financially weakened after years of being looted by the accused. The accused has vast resources at his disposal, against a broke accuser.

Kenyans must, however, continue having faith in the Jubilee government. None other but the highest of the high office in the land has renewed its commitment and zeal in confronting corruption. The Statehouse summit on governance and accountability demonstrates this in black and white.

As Barrack Obama once aptly put it
“We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.”

  • NYS Looting; How Mike Njeru And Transcend Media Robbed 50M In 2 Hours

NYS Looting; How Mike Njeru And Transcend Media Robbed 50M In 2 Hours

We have established that TRANSCEND MEDIA GROUP some of the work it does is charged at extortionist rates disproportionate to the work done, it has been paid millions of shillings for doing nothing beyond colluding with rogue State officials to dream up phantom jobs.

Questions exists on how TRANSCEND MEDIA group acquired the lucrative tenders at the NYS during Anne Waiguru tenure at the ministry of devolution. We can authoritatively confirm that these tenders at NYS did not just come out of the blues but through a well-orchestrated web that is deeply rooted in the Transcend Media Group Management. Apparently we have been able to establish that Tony Gatheca (CEO and co-founder Transcend Media Group) has a blood sister called Winnie Wambugu.

Winnie Wambugu was at some point a close friend and advisor to Anne Waiguru. This explains why the multiple highly priced multimillion tenders were awarded to Transcend Media Group.

Ms Waiguru, who resigned last November and is under investigation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission over the loss of Sh791 million at NYS, is said to have hired advisers and consultants to work in her office for roles that could be performed by civil servants.

The event lasted from about 5 pm to 10.30 pm on the eve of Jamhuri Day at the DC grounds in the expansive slum.

There were about a dozen tents, two platforms — one for the President’s entourage and the other for guests. Entertainment was largely sourced from groups in the slums although some national artistes like gospel singers Gloria Muliro and Bahati also performed.

Well a cool ksh.50million for only 5hours! Is Ok! Transcend Media Group is indeed a growing business

It is important to note that another company was Alpha Mercantile which supplied plastic water tank and sugar. The payments were Sh6.7 million and Sh7.5 million in that order. The company was registered in December 2013 under the ownership of Njeru Mucheru, Simon Migwi and Dainah Wanjiru. So if you think we are hitting at TMG think twice.

These incidents point to abuse of consultancy in government with the perpetrators using it to cover up their financial greed. Transcend Media Group used Winnie Wambugu a personal friend to Anne Waiguru to loot the public coffers. Nothing is further from truth that makes this TMG a briefcase consultant hell bent on sucking blood our of Kenyan tax payers. TGM forms the category of the super-paid public servants largely made of campaign financiers and political loyalists, and close family members of the people in power.

Meanwhile it is important to mention here that CEO and co-founder Tony Gatheca’s uncle Mr Wanjiki Muchemi was a solicitor General in the Kibaki Government. Keep in Mind that during the same period of the grand coalition Government Michael Njeru was the errand boy for Raila Odinga. This exclusively explains why the duo could land lucrative Government tenders from both sides of the coalition. Michael Njeru is the chairman of the Transcend Media Group.

Among other Government tenders that Transcend Media Group acquired dubiously include the current tender at Kenya Power that many people across board feel that it wasn’t acquired in accordance to procedure. The Current Kenya Power MD is facing a case in court over several malpractices at the company.

NYS Fraud: Could Waiguru Be Innocent And Ruto Guilty, We Archive Jacob Juma’s Take On The Billion Heist

It was a long day for former Devolution CS Waiguru when she appeared before the PAC to answer to questions on the NYS that is estimated to have cost taxpayer upto 2B.

Ben Gethi who’s at the center has already been grilled by the committee in which he denied involvement in the heist despite million discrepancies attaching him to the scandal .

Kabura who’s sworn in an affidavit to be a protege of Waiguru who allegedly called her onboard from the saloon business she was engaging and turned into an overnight millionaire. Her arrogant testimony left many in shock during PAC grilling.

During her appearance , the Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru yesterday accused powerful Government operatives of colluding with business people to loot Sh1.6 billion from the National Youth Service (NYS).

Among those Ms Waiguru named in documents handed to MPs were Farouk Kibet, an aide to Deputy President William Ruto, whom she claimed was constantly on the phone with prime suspect Ben Gethi in the days before the theft was executed.

Waiguru told members of the PAC that Gethi and Farouk had 262 phone calls between them before and during the transactions through companies associated with another key suspect, Josephine Kabura.

Waiguru termed Kabura as a puppet of the cartel of Gethi and his operatives who are powerful individuals in government.

In a clear exoneration move , claimed that the said cartel had set aside Sh200 million for a smear campaign that would frustrate investigations, in a super scheme to shake detectives off at every turn.

Waiguru has been named by various witnesses as the mastermind of the scandal, including claims by her former PS Mangiti that she issued illegal instructions, including in the hiring of Adan Harakhe to the non-existent position of Deputy Director General of the NYS.

Harakhe was subsequently designated as one of the people with authority to incur expenditure at the ministry.

With everyone shifting blames and committed to demonize the other and investigative bodies so far not giving any substantial direction as to the real thieves , Kenya Insights has reviewed past tweets of slain Jacob Juma . Juma tweets have become truth reference lately in his death.Jacob was also known for wide intelligence network that he used to bust the corrupt deals. Could they be holding stint of truth? • Not Yet Angry; Kenya’s Anger on Corruption Purely Cosmetic

Not Yet Angry; Kenya’s Anger on Corruption Purely Cosmetic

In the last one week now going to the second, Kenyans social zones have been overtaken by corruption talks following an expose on the ministry of health unearthing a 5B scandal that has left the country’s jaws nearly hitting the grounds. Kenyans from all walks have for once unanimously castigated and condemned the government for rampant corruption cases that have themed the Jubilee administration.

Things got worse when it emerged that the President’s kin was part of the fleecing group only days after he admitted sterility on dealing with education during the anti-corruption summit held in Statehouse.

    Just to give you a glimpse of scandals that have clouded the Jubilee administration since coming into power, here’s a brief compilation;

    1. KSh. 53 billion Laptop tendering rejected by court, where about of money already allocated by Parliament unknown

    2. KSh314.2 billion Standard Guage Tendering(shrouded inflated Chinese single sourcing)

    3. KSh475billion Irregular Lamu Coal project award(a company that did not even submit a proposal at the RFP stage)

    4. Ksh10billion GDC tendering scandal

    5. K Sh55.6 billion JKIA New Terminal irregular tendering through KAA

    6. GDC 60Billion failed oil drill well

    7. Chicken-gate IEBC scandal kshs 50M

    8. Weston Hotel primary school land grab

    9. Lamu irregular land allocations revealed by postal Shabaab terror attack investigations

    10. KSh. 8billion Karen Land saga involving 40mps

    11. Ksh38Billion medical import irregular leasing

    12. Parliamentary Accounts Committee

    13. Mara Narok 4.5Billion KAPS Revenue collection scandal (Ruto)

    14. 15Billion CCTV Single sourced to Safaricom

    15. 1.3Billion irregular drug haul ship explosion

    16. 22 Dead Sheiks in Mombasa killed extrajudicially by Kenyan security forces (ref AlJazeera)

    17. Kshs 100million hustlers jet

    18. Uhuru Anglo leasing kshs 3Billion payout reward

    19. The forced digital migration and secret PANG10% local shareholding muscling into projected$550M revenue in advertising next year

    20. Goodyear convicted in the USA for 1.5 Billion and 135Million bribes to senior government officials.

    21. Close to 1bn NYS scandal.

    22. 140bn Ukutaberg scandal on Kenya-Somaliaborder

    23. The Eurobond saga.

    24. And now the 5bn Health sector scandal.

The list could go on and on as it keeps updating by the minute. There’s a feigned anger filled environment in the country currently with a ghost voice that Jubilee has fleeced the country. President Moi, a ruthless ruler who stole billions from Kenyans, had the audacity to call out the current regime for rampant looting. I mean you know shit got real when a thief call out fellow thief due being too much.

Kenya is a few months away from going to general elections, a question in many people’s minds is, will they vote differently? Will the different factors at stake like corruption withinJubilee influence the voting pattern and choice? The simple answer is no.

It’s only a matter of time before the feigned anger is forgotten, Kenyans are disadvantaged with a warthog memory, and by January latest when campaign caravans hit the ground it will be business as usual and everyone back to worshiping tribal demigods. This is a fact that the public fund looters know.

They’re working to steal enough to come and influence the voters. The greatest enemies of progress in any country are the middle class who’re okay with their space in life. They’re highly tribal, and that’s why they’ll vote back the same perceived devils only to start crying again for coming years.

A friend from overseas keeps telling me the amount of corruption and incompetent leadership in kKenya is enough to spark a revolution and i rubbish her off coz we’re not angry yet, everything we’re hearing is choreographed nothing real, when we will genuinely get angry and not contented deep down that it’s mtu wetu stealing then perhaps we will have a revolution as one in Brazil against corruption but until tribal bondage is broken, things will remain the same. Politicians can sit easy; they’ll have their slaves back to their corner shortly.

Exclusive : Boniface Mwangi Joining Active Politics And To Vie For An MP Seat

Chicken slowly and steadily coming home to roost, the defiant and team courage activist, Mwangi has been on a roll and scheming at the same time. Seen as a thorn in Jubilee’s administration, Boniface has stuck out as a fierce critic of the Uhuru regime with unfiltered hurls that have dealt a significant blow to the legitimacy of the system.

Boniface who doesn’t shy off from laying his malaise towards the regime, whether feigned or genuine, is a force to reckon with especially in the civil society. He has successfully organized and executed great demos from Langata land grab by DP Ruto of Weston Hotel to numerous anti-corruption wars. Mwangi is known for being chills deprived when it comes to launching missiles towards the Jubilee government.

Currently, the activist who’s been hinted by sources as an FBI, CIA agent in the country, has been entangled in bruising legal tassel with the Deputy President who sued him following comments he made on social media linking him to go the murder of Jacob Juma who by the way primarily mentioned him as a schemer in his assassination plot.

Reports reaching Kenya Insights desks indicates that the activist is getting into active politics and for a start will be registering his political party to alienate him from the traditional tribal parties. KI is told there’s a bright scheme hatched by Jubilee big dogs who’re pushing and funding the activist in rolling out his new ‘independent’ party.

Just as Moi secretly supported the formation of numerous political parties to water down opposition parties to sail in power, impermeable sources talking to Kenya Insights say Mwangi has been planted by Statehouse rulers who’re determined to ensure steady soiling and fall of the Deputy President, Ruto. They’re funding his legal pursuit against the DP who pressed defamation charges.

Our highly held sources tell Kenya Insights that the lethal activist is eyeing Makadara Constituency as his destiny. This according to his advisors, will give him entrance into parliament and eventually a favorable platform to influence humanitarian policies.

Boniface getting into politics ignites memories of another Okiya Omtatah another commercial and activist for hire who unsuccessfully vied to capture the senatorial position in Nairobi that went to thuggish Sonko. Politics and activism are distinct and if Mwangi is going to penetrate the membrane is just buy a matter of time to tell.

No Sex Unless You Vote For Uhuru, Shebesh Warns Men

Married men may be in for a rough stretch unless they accord political support to the incumbent, President Uhuru, and female candidates. This comes after Ruiru MP Esther Gathogo told wives to deny their spouse’s conjugal rights if they do not support Jubilee and women in the 2017 election her sentiments echoed by Nairobi woman rep, Rachel Shebesh.

Addressing a meeting in Thika, the legislator said women should use sex as a weapon to coerce men to vote for Uhuru and female candidates in various positions during the 2017 polls. “This time we should be bold and tell our men enough is enough. If they refuse to support Uhuru and women leadership then deny them sexual favors,” she said amid cheers from hundreds of women attending the meeting at CCM Makongeni Church hall.

The event, organized by a caucus of Jubilee female legislators dubbed ‘Women for Women’, was to drum up support for Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a. It was attended by at least 16 MPs led by Deputy Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Naomi Shaaban and Nairobi Women’s Representative Rachel Shebesh.

It’s rather unfortunate that in this age and era sex is still being used as a manipulation tool and coming from rather privileged legislators we’re left with stretched jaws.

Attempted Attack on U.S. Embassy In Nairobi A Confirmation ISIS Is Stamping Terror Authority In Kenya

The moment the news hit the airwaves that unsuccessful terror attack was attempted at the Nairobi’s U.S. Embassy, knew there was A subliminal message being sent by A terror group. True to the word, it has emerged the killed terrorist was a follower of Islamic State responsible for an attack last week on a Kenyan police officer outside a U.S. embassy in Nairobi, the group’s Amaq news agency said on Saturday.

The knife-wielding man whom police described as a criminal was shot dead outside the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi last Thursday after he attacked and injured a Kenyan police officer.

“The person who carried out the stabbing of a guard outside the American embassy in Nairobi last Thursday was a soldier of Islamic State responding to calls to target coalition countries,” Amaq said.

Islamic State previously claimed an attack in Kenya in September by three women who were shot dead after they tricked their way into a police station in Mombasa and tried to torch the building, according to police. The police in Kenya have also previously said they had detained sympathizers with the group.

But experts say it is not clear how close the connection is between groups and individuals proclaiming allegiance to the Islamist group and the Islamic State organization in its Middle East heartland of Syria and Iraq, where it is increasing pressure from regional and international forces.

The ISIS has been on a recruitment overdrive worldwide with intentions of spreading their wings beyond the Middle East that has been their root. ISIS is one of the most brutal and senseless terror groups in history, so gruesome that world’s most feared terror organization Al-Qaeda denounced and called them out on the severe terror they’ve been reigning.

Locally, Al-Shabaab has been the sole terror group that has been on the prowl in destabilizing Kenya’s security. With ISIS coming in, the enemies have replicated, and rivalry between two groups could lead to more penis measuring attacks. The Kenyan security agencies should, therefore, heighten surveillance around the clock.

The Space Lounge has been in the middle of court battles and scores settling following complaints from the Kilimani Project Foundation on behalf of residents who asked for the closure of the club following complaints of too much noise coming from the club.

The Club, a favorite spot with middle age revelers along Ngong Rd, had its license previously revoked by the County Gov but later resumed operations on conditions they’ll adhere to set sound standards. However, the Kilimani Foundation went ahead further to open afresh complaints with the County Gov that the house hasn’t subsided and the nearby residents were being denied sleep.

The latest obstacle is from the Liquor Licencing Board of the County Gov that has declined the request of the club meaning the club is barred from selling alcohol within the premise and doing so is contrary to the regulations. Whether the proprietor is going to honor this directive is another thing. We’ve also heard of personal differences between the parties involved with the Kilimani Project leadership said to be having the personal vendetta with the Club’s Proprietor and relentlessly pushing for its closure, but that’s a story for another day.

  • Why Kenyans Are More Republicans than Democrats

Why Kenyans Are More Republicans than Democrats

The US elections are two weeks away, poised to be held on Tuesday 8th November 2016. This is an election that has been preceded with tremendous razzmatazz not seen in the past.

There are two major parties in the US. The Grand Old Party (GOP) aka Republicans has a worldview of American conservatism while the Democrats advocate for modern liberalism. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, the contenders of both parties, have held three electrifying national debates across the country, in Hosfra University, Hempstead New York, Washington University St Louis, and University of Nevada, Las Vegas

First, I must indicate that majority of Kenyans regard themselves more of Democrats than Republicans. This could be due to various reasons, but probably most noticeable is because of Barrack Obama the first black president of the US, with Kenyan roots, was a Democrat.

One would, therefore, expect that the ideologies fronted by Democrats would resonate well with Kenyans and Africans in a larger context. But on close observation and scrutiny of the presidential debates, one cannot escape noticing some ideological positions which in my view make Kenyans more Republicans than Democrats, contrary to popular belief.

    The following five sticking issues buttress my argument;

    1. Pro-life versus Roe v Wade

During the 3rd debate at UNLV, Donald Trump said that he was against any form of abortion, and would, in fact, select Pro-Life Justices in the Supreme Court, a decision that would have a fundamental impact on future pronouncements on abortion.
Hillary Clinton suggested that she would be guided by the January 1973 US Supreme Court matter of Roe V. Wade. The Court essentially gave the right to a woman to procure an abortion at any stage of her pregnancy. This would be as late as two or three days before birth.

    Article 26(4) of the Kenyan constitution on Right to Life states;

Abortion is not permitted unless, in the opinion of a trained health professional, there is the need for emergency treatment or the life or health of the mother is in danger, or if permitted by any other written law. This position is buttressed by the Penal Code Laws of Kenya, articles 158-160, 228 and 240
It is evident from the above characterisation that Kenyan laws do not entertain termination of pregnancy in whatever form, shape or shade.

    2. Immigration crises and home grown terrorism

The issue of illegal immigrants is emotive; everyone knows how bungled immigration policies have screwed up the domestic security situation. We all have suffered at the hands of terrorists either directly or indirectly. Every Kenyan yearns for a permanent solution to the immigration crisis.

Donald Trump has been unambiguous about illegal immigrants, suggesting that they must be profiled and deported from the US homeland. Hillary has largely been vague, appearing to indicate that she would initiate a kind of a vetting process, with an aim to ultimately assimilate them into the American society.

Kenya has previously found itself in similar circumstances. Frustrated by a ballooning population of immigrants of Somali origin, and increasing incidences of terrorist attacks, the Kenya government in April 2014 began profiling immigrants in Eastleigh, Nairobi and sending them in droves to Dadaab refugee camp. In May 2016, the government again announced plans to summarily close the said Dadaab refugee complex, and expel over 300,000 refugees to Somalia.

    3. The Mexican wall

The US-Mexican border is 3100 kilometers long. It traverses all sorts of terrain from empty, dusty desert to the lush and rugged surroundings of the Rio Grande. Some 1100 kilometers of the border is covered by non-continuous series of fences, concrete slabs, and other structures.

Both candidates agree that the border is porous and has been a source of much crap, including drugs and illegal immigrants.

Trump has suggested that he would build an “impenetrable, physical, tall, sturdy, beautiful, southern border wall” between the US and Mexico’’ Mr. Trump says his wall will cover 1500 kilometers and natural obstacles will take care of the rest. Hillary’s solution has largely been unclear
Trump’s idea appears to be a Xerox copy of Kenya’s idea of dealing with illegal immigrants from Somalia. In April 2016, Kenya’s interior CS announced plans to construct a 700 kilometers wall, along with the Kenya-Somali border.

    4. The 2nd Amendment (Gun Laws)

The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution was adopted on December 15, 1791, as part of the first ten amendments contained in the Bill of Rights. It protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms stating “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

The Recent escalation in gun related crimes in the US has pointed to need to review of the 2nd amendment. Pundits have alluded to the need for regulating or restricting possession and use of automatic rifles and high capacity magazines. These suggestions have faced virulent opposition from civil society movements, led by the National Rifles Association (NRA)

Trump has been advocating a strict adherence to the 2nd amendment as contained in the US Constitution, and a daily reading and application of the law. Hillary has been wavering, appearing to suggest that the gun laws can be applied in context, in the face of (legitimate) security threats. This has been interpreted to be a backdoor amendment to the constitution
Many constitutional lawyers and civil society activists in Kenya would similarly virulently oppose any reading or interpretation of the constitution that do not agree with its ‘‘spirit and letter’’.

    5. Gay rights

Donald Trump has spent his campaign against the various protections provided for LGBTQ people in the United States. He has vowed to appoint judges to the Supreme Court to turn back the legalization of same-sex marriage and supporting state-sanctioned discrimination against transgender people
On her part, Hillary on www.hillaryclinton.com is fragrantly described as career gay sympathizer, saying ‘’Hillary has been a vocal advocate for LGBT rights throughout her career.’’

LGBT rights are a divisive moral issue in Kenya. The LGBT community has found solace in article 36 on the ‘’ Freedom of Association’’ in the Constitution which states interalia ‘’ Every person has the right to freedom of association, which includes the right to form, join or participate in the activities of an organization of any kind.’’

Whether ‘’marriage’’ can be categorized as an ‘’association’’, or whether the drafters of the constitution, in drafting the clause, sought to protect gay unions, is an entirely different subject.
THE FACT is Kenya like many other African countries, is opposed to any form of same-sex marriage whatsoever.

    So how are we Democratsts?

    Anthony Mwangi

LEAKED: Plans Of An HIV-Infected Man In Eldoret On A Revenge Mission To Infect People’s Wives To Spread Virus, Targets 200

Screenshots of an HIV-Infected person who confided to his friend for being on a revenge mission to infect as many families as possible has surfaced online.

In what looks like a friendly conversation, the man whom we’ve identified with his Facebook names as Francis Frank, doesn’t hide the fact that he’s infected with the virus but vows not to go down the grave alone. Frank, says he’s on a mission to infect as many people with the virus with his mission targeting wives of others, in his thinking, this will broaden the virus network to more people around.

    Its criminal to intentionally sleep without protection knowing you’re infected with the virus without informing the partner. Exposing one to the virus is punishable. Therefore this beast needs to be for the next ride to jail and must pay for the heinous act. Again the social media is going to play a significant role in serving justice and eliminating dimwits and evil kinds as this. Find screenshots below;

  • A Terrorist or Another Case of Investor Being Scared Away, Story Hassan Babakar Osman, Saudi’s Prince Protege

A Terrorist or Another Case of Investor Being Scared Away, Story Hassan Babakar Osman, Saudi’s Prince Protege

A Sudan , Khartoum-born, Osman a powerful businessman and recently married in Kenya where he’s been living for 20 years to one Sophia Roba and influential figure, fled the country following sharp differences with President Bashir since they contradicted in ideologies as Mwalim Brotherhood and terror that the President reigned on his opponents which later landed him and still a wanted man by the ICC for crimes on humanity including mass murder.

Osman is said to have fled to Dubai then Rwanda and lastly Saudi Arabia where he made powerful business networks including with the Royal family where he worked for Prince Abdul Aziz, became his confidant and later sent him to Kenya as his agent on the Galana project that he was investing in.

The prince appointed Mr. Hassan Babakar Osman, to be his local agent and charged him to prepare a memorandum of articles of association in 2010 with the objective of setting up an agricultural investment in Kenya, partly financed by the Saudi Government.

This was in line with a presidential initiative “calling for international businessmen to invest in food security by offering them land.”

The King was leased 100,000 acres from the Agriculture Development Corporation (ADC) on the property known as Galana Ranch/Block 1/1 situated in Kilifi County for 16 years under a renewable contract.

However, along with the way, things turned the other way with the Prince suing Kenya and accusing his local partners (foreign investors required to partner with locals in managerial posts) tried or rather schemed to fraud him if his shares in the company that was formed under Osman’s signature.

Prince claimed that through forged documentation, his majority shareholding of 900 out of 1,000 shares of the Arafco Agriculture Integration Company Ltd was fraudulently transferred without his consent to local directors under the name Milestone Developers Ltd as majority shareholder.

The local businessmen the Prince listed as his partners were Mr. Mohammed Koriow Nur, Mr. Mohammedulamin Mohamud and Mr. Mohammed Hirei Bare Ahmed who had six per cent, three per cent, and one per cent shares respectively. In an affidavit, the Saudi Prince informed the government that his partners were frustrating his protege Osman and fabricating crimes to see him overthrown.

Hassan Babakar Osman was recently arrested by ATPU at his Muthaiga home and accused of facilitating the recruitment of youth to join terrorist groups. The Anti-Terrorism Police Unit informed the Milimani senior resident magistrate Helen Onkwani that they need more time for investigations to ascertain he’s a local ISIL agent

The court was informed that the suspect was also forged a letter of attorney purporting to have been vested powers by the Prince of Saudi Arabia to transact business in Kenya on his behalf.

    HRH Sultan and Hassan Babakar
    HRH Sultan and Hassan Babakar

The prosecution further said that Osman is wanted by the Saudi Arabian government for the purpose of instituting charges of using the said forged letter of attorney to swindle money from the public.

The court papers stated that intelligence reports so far received by investigators indicated that the suspect is an associate of unknown ISIS and ISIL recruiters in and outside the country.

However, the intrigues in the case baffles, on Tuesday, Kenya Insights learn that a senior Jubilee politician from Garissa County called the magistrate blocking the release of the investor Hassan Osman. The same politician called the suspect’s lawyer Cliff to abstain from representing the investor. In the mean time, the investor has continued to be confined at Muthaiga police station. The investor has been arrested on several occasion and released with out charge. The investor is now under incarceration and medical and health complication where he has been denied access to the even government hospital for treatment.

Hassan was once arrested at JKIA over accusations of owning a fake passport which was then verified by the Somalia government, and he was released. Today amongst charges he’s being held with includes possession of a fake Somalia Passport.

Hassan’s project that he initiated on behalf of Saudi Prince would create employment over 4000 Kenyans generate foreign currency on the portion of sugar that will be exported to Saudi Arabia as per the terms of investments he was in the process if bringing in the Prince of Saudi Arabia to invest 150 million dollars to upgrade Kenya Meat Commission and the P.S. the MD and the board of KMC were going to finalise with the prince on a special visit to Saudi Arabia which had been finalised this would have up graded the Athi River KMC and MSA KMC to the status of European standards and cope with the high demand of meat supply to Saudi Arabia and the Arab world to approximate cover up to 70 % demand helping the pastoralist and generate more foreign currency it is wrong to do this to an investor who trusted Kenyans gave them 10% shares in return forged for 100 % shares total shame.

While the benefits that the investment was to come with remain constant, the bulk of case remains with the ATPU to prove that the investor has links with ISIL and if found guilty then should be prosecuted with the same. Kenya being Kenya, dirty play can neither be over ruled in this field since rivals are often at alert to fabricate and with malice accuse one of none existent crimes and using their positions and connections within power circles to frustrate rivals.

If that were that case in Hassan’s, it would be an unfortunate trend, and a scare alarm to investors was looking into pumping their money into Kenya. The case needs to be followed with keen interest especially up from the President’s office who should shield investors from monkey dealers in town at the same time being vigil with terror motives. It’s a catch two. If determined that Hassan has no terror links then the interest parties too need to be brought to justice for frustrating investors.

  • Nothing Wrong In Peter Kenneth Endorsing President Uhuru’s Reelection

Nothing Wrong In Peter Kenneth Endorsing President Uhuru’s Reelection

Politics is like a jungle and survival is for the fittest. You’re either another animal’s target, or you’re targeting. In the previous elections, PK opted to go for the presidency even if he knew well he stood zero chances winning but used it for political positioning. From the looks, his Mount Kenya decision makers better referred to as the Mafias have baptized him to become next in line after Uhuru’s exit in the 2022 elections. Therefore, PK has to not only realign himself but give up bigger ambitions, and that’s what he’s done by dropping presidential ambitions for 2017 elections and crowning his villagemate Uhuru for the presidential bid.

Peter Kenneth’s declaration has drawn fierce criticism, especially from the opposition side that he’s a hypocrite and tribal by joining forces with Jubilee a government they seen filtered with corruption and inequalities. His over the political fence position that saw him bid for the presidency on his party depicted him as an independent and liberal away from traditional politics. By decamping, to Jubilee many now have assumed him as a sellout.

But again I think we’re a bit selfish as a nation; everyone has freedom and liberty to join any political party who’s ideas they find to be matching with their conscience, it’s therefore not right to castigate PK for making a political allegiance to Jubilee. If anything it’s a rare chance that we get to see his hidden side, look at the Jubilee policies and see the actual face of PK. Freedom to association and expression should not be limited and must be respected equally.

It’s only right to respect in true democracy spirit that I believe Kenya stands in to let Kenneth be. Already many speculations are running back and forth as to what his next will be. Analysts suspects he’ll vie for Governorship on Jubilee ticket either in Nairobi or Murang’a where he come from. Many of his supporters are praying he goes for Nairobi to save the City from unstoppable and childish Sonko on Jubilee ticket. However, the matrix gets more complicated with insiders telling Kenya Insights that he’s already negotiated to take over Murang’a.

While a lot remains indefinite, one absolute fact is PK will be a key factor in the 2022 elections where he’ll either be planted to block Ruto out, or he becomes his Running mate for power passage to PK in 2032 as planned. The uncertainty has already sent genuine concerns to the Kalenjin community who’re banking on the Mountain’s backup for Ruto’s presidency after Uhuru exit. Both parties read malice on each other moves. Troubled marriage with a small string of trust holding them together.
