Ruto Fires Muturi, Duale Moved To Health Docket In Ruto’s New Cabinet Reshuffle

President William Ruto has nominated Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku as the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes.

If approved by Parliament, Ruku will replace Justin Muturi who has been relieved of his duties.

The changes were communicated in a statement issued by Chief of Staff Felix Koskei on Wednesday.

“His excellency the President has today instituted further changes to the senior ranks of the Executive within Cabinet. By virtue of the Presidential Action, Cabinet is set to achieve its constitutional full strength; a move that bolsters the Administration’s capacity to continue to steer Kenya’s socio-economic transformation,” Koskei said.

In the mini changes, Ruto also nominated Hannah Wendot Cheptumo as the CS nominee for Gender, Culture, Arts and Heritage.

The two nominees are expected to bring to Cabinet not only the knowledge and experience acquired over the course of their illustrious careers but, above all, their wisdom accumulated from their inspiring and diverse life journeys,” Koskei added.

“His excellency the President has congratulated the nominees on their nominations and conveyed his best wishes as they undergo the requisite parliamentary approval process in fulfillment of the legal requirements set under our constitution.”

Meanwhile, Environment CS Aden Duale was swapped with his Health counterpart Deborah Barasa in the changes.

Muturi broke ranks with the government when he on February 12 boldly claimed that it had a hand in a spate on abductions that be fell the country at the height of Gen Z demonstrations in June last year.

In a recent TV interview, Muturi said he would not resign from Cabinet for the unprecedented criticism, saying he should instead be commended for the firm stand he took against an issue the President had sworn would not be permitted under his watch.

Ruto, who all the while never once responded to the remarks of the former Attorney General, on Tuesday fired his first salvo and branded Muturi as “fairly incompetent” as he loaded praises on the new AG Dorcas Oduor.

In his speech during an Iftar dinner at State House, Nairobi, Ruto said Muturi’s poor handling of the establishment of the Muslim Endowment Fund (Waqf) while serving as the AG denied the commission an opportunity to manage Islamic endowments.

“I had a problem with the AG who was there before—he was fairly incompetent. But now, I have a very competent lady in the position, and I can assure you that the issues of Wakf will be sorted out within months,” Ruto said.

On Wednesday, Muturi responded and in a post on X, said: It must be understood that a waqf is a religious, charitable or benevolent endowment by a person who professes Muslim faith and is managed by the Waqf Commission.”

Muturi then released a statement highliting some of the gains he made while serving in the State Law office in an apparent show of defiance.

Kenyan Cop Goes Missing In Haiti After Fight With Gang

A Kenyan police officer deployed in Haiti as part of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM) has gone missing after an attack by suspected gang members.

The officer disappeared on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at around 4:30 pm during a patrol operation along the Carrefour Paye-Savien Main Supply Route in the Pont-Sonde area, Artibonite Department.

According to MSSM spokesperson Jack Ombaka, the officer was in an armoured vehicle belonging to the Haitian National Police (HNP) when it got trapped in a ditch, which is suspected to have been deliberately dug by gangs.

Ombaka added that two MSS Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles were sent from Pont-Sonde to help retrieve the stranded armoured vehicle.

“Unfortunately, during the recovery efforts, one of the MRAPs also got stuck, while the other developed a mechanical issue. As the rescue teams attempted to resolve the situation, suspected gang members who were lying in wait launched an attack,” Ombaka stated.

The attack created a chaotic situation, and one Kenyan contingent officer was reported missing. Ombaka stated that specialised search teams have since been deployed to find the officer and establish his whereabouts.

“As a result of the incident, one MSS Kenyan contingent officer remains unaccounted for. Specialised teams have been deployed to conduct a search and determine his whereabouts,” Ombaka added.

Ombaka assured that a comprehensive briefing will be provided as investigations continue.

This is not the first attack on Kenyan officers in Haiti. Last month, on February 23, Constable Samuel Tompoi Kaetuai was fatally wounded during an operation in Ségur-Savien, marking the first casualty among the Kenyan contingent.

His body was flown back and received by his father, Kaetuai Salaash, on March 10, 2025, from where it was transferred to the Chiromo Mortuary.

“The Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, Gilbert Masengeli, this evening, March 10, 2025, received the body of the late Police Officer Samuel Tompoi Kaetuai at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA),” a statement from the National Police Service read.

“The body was later transferred to Chiromo Mortuary for preservation, with burial arrangements set for a later date.

He was laid to rest on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

  • Police Coverup? Seven Bullets From State House Bodyguard’s Gun Contradicts Report

Police Coverup? Seven Bullets From State House Bodyguard’s Gun Contradicts Report

A fatal shooting in Kawangware involving a police corporal attached to State House has sparked allegations of a police cover-up, as an official incident report starkly contradicts eyewitness accounts.

The incident, which left 35-year-old Amos Lang’at dead with seven gunshot wounds, has raised questions about transparency and accountability within Kenya’s National Police Service.

Corporal Muhammed Yusuf Keinan, assigned to the security detail of State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, reported that he was attacked by three unknown men on a motorcycle on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at around 8:00 p.m. in the Kwa Mungai area of Amboseli, Kawangware.

According to the incident report logged under OB No. 56/23/03/2025 at Muthangari Police Station, Keinan claimed the assailants attempted to steal his Ceska pistol.

He alleged that he fought them off, fired a warning shot into the air, and fled to the station—approximately four kilometers away—sustaining fractures to his left hand and shoulder in the process.

However, the discovery of Lang’at’s body at the scene, riddled with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and stomach, has cast doubt on Keinan’s account.

Police from Muthangari Station later confirmed that Lang’at was rushed to Mary Immaculate Hospital on Gitanga Road, where he succumbed to his injuries.

A postmortem would later reveal that Lang’at had been shot seven times, a detail that sharply undermines the officer’s claim of firing only a single warning shot.

Eyewitnesses in Kwa Mungai paint a dramatically different picture. Residents allege that Lang’at and Keinan, who were known to be friends and frequently seen together in the area, had been playing pool earlier that evening before a dispute erupted.

According to one witness, the altercation escalated when Lang’at grabbed Keinan’s firearm during a struggle.

The officer reportedly regained control of the weapon, holstered it, and began walking away. Lang’at, allegedly intoxicated and holding a stone, followed him.

It was then, witnesses say, that Keinan drew his pistol and fired multiple shots into Lang’at’s chest and stomach before leaving the scene.

“They were friends. We’ve seen them together here many times,” said a local resident who claimed to have witnessed the incident.

“This wasn’t some random attack by robbers—it was personal.”

The discrepancies between Keinan’s official statement and the eyewitness accounts have fueled suspicions of a cover-up.

Kawangware residents have pointed to the police report’s narrative—omitting any mention of Lang’at’s identity or the nature of his relationship with Keinan—as evidence of an attempt to shield the officer from scrutiny.

The fact that Lang’at was shot seven times, rather than injured in a single warning shot as Keinan claimed, has further intensified calls for an independent investigation.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has responded to the growing controversy, promising a thorough and impartial investigation into Lang’at’s death.

Speaking through National Police Service spokesperson Michael Muchiri, Kanja insisted that there would be “no room for cover-ups.” Muchiri tild the media, “Our investigators will remain professional and get to the bottom of this.”

Yet, skepticism persists, particularly in light of recent incidents involving police officers and the questionable use of their firearms.

Earlier this month, on March 9, 2025, Police Constable Limo Kipkosgey shot and killed his colleague Eric Munga at Gigiri Police Station after drinking alone at the canteen.

Days prior, a General Service Unit officer attached to South Sudan President Salva Kiir’s security detail fired on colleagues after a confrontation over marijuana use.

And in a separate case, Constable Kipkoech Tarus is under investigation for allegedly shooting his friend Raphael Kimuli Wambua, a Central Bank of Kenya security officer, after a night out.

These incidents, alongside last year’s fatal shooting of Makadara Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti by Chief Inspector Samson Kipchirchir Kipruto, have heightened public distrust in the police force’s handling of such cases.

  • Khalif Kairo Arrested Again For Undelivered BMW Despite Receiving Full Payment

Khalif Kairo Arrested Again For Undelivered BMW Despite Receiving Full Payment

Controversial second-hand car dealer Joseph Kairo Wambui, better known as “Khalif Kairo,” was Tuesday arrested again—this time over fresh allegations of fraud.

He is accused of taking full payment from a client for a BMW but failing to deliver the vehicle.

Kairo was arrested at the Milimani Law Courts, shortly after the mention of three other ongoing cases where he is accused of conning clients in similar car deals.

He is expected to be arraigned in court Wednesday March 26.

Kairo, was in January granted a personal bond of Sh3 million after multiple days in police custody.

His lawyer, Davinson Makau, informed Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina that Kairo was unable to raise the Sh3 million cash bail and requested the court to consider granting a personal bond.

The court also returned Kairo’s passport to facilitate his travel to the USA for fundraising purposes, noting his consistent travel history and finding no compelling reason to restrict his movement.

Kairo had been charged on January 29, with obtaining Sh3,045,000 from Dan Odhiambo Odundo by falsely claiming he could import a Volkswagen Tiguan 1.4 from Japan through his company, Kai & Karo Limited a claim he allegedly knew to be false.

He pleaded not guilty before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi.

This case was the latest in multiple charges related to defrauding clients in vehicle import deals.

Earlier in January 2025 Kairo was arraigned for allegedly deceiving clients into paying substantial amounts for vehicles that were never delivered.

In one instance, he is accused of obtaining Sh2,145,150 from Jeff Kyule Munane between July 10 and July 29, 2024, under the pretense of importing a Honda Vezel Hybrid from Japan.

In another case, he allegedly received Sh2.9 million from Dona Ayalo Okoth in July 2024, promising to import a Subaru Outback, which was also not delivered.

  • Nakuru Activist Urges Trump to Deport Governor Kihika Over Five-Month Absence

Nakuru Activist Urges Trump to Deport Governor Kihika Over Five-Month Absence

A Nakuru-based activist has taken the unprecedented step of writing to former U.S. President Donald Trump, urging him to facilitate the deportation of Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika, who has reportedly been absent from office for nearly five months.

The activist, Kimori Evans of the Kimori Foundation, claims Kihika’s prolonged stay in the U.S. has created a leadership vacuum, exacerbating a healthcare crisis in Nakuru—particularly after the closure of Nakuru War Memorial Hospital.

In a letter dated March 25, 2025, addressed to Trump via the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, Evans expressed frustration over Kihika’s absence, which he alleges began after she sought maternity and newborn medical care abroad.

“Governor Kihika, elected in August 2022, has been absent for nearly five months, leaving a leadership void in Nakuru County,” the letter states.

“Her decision to seek medical services overseas follows her administration’s closure of War Memorial Hospital, a critical public healthcare facility established in 1906.”

The hospital’s shutdown has left thousands of residents—particularly mothers, children, and chronic illness patients—without essential healthcare.

    Kimori Evans
    Kimori Evans

Evans highlighted the irony of Kihika accessing advanced medical care abroad while her constituents suffer from deteriorating local services.

“As an elected governor, she has a constitutional duty to ensure public services, including healthcare, remain accessible,” the letter reads. “I respectfully request your intervention in facilitating her return to Kenya to resume her duties.”

Kihika’s Whereabouts and County Leadership Struggles

Governor Kihika, Nakuru’s first female governor and a former senator, was last seen publicly on November 18, 2024, at a vocational training center graduation. A January 17, 2025, statement from her office confirmed she was on maternity leave, but her exact location remains unverified.

Evans’ letter assumes she is in the U.S., given her ties to the country, where she studied and worked for nearly two decades before entering Kenyan politics.

The closure of Nakuru War Memorial Hospital predates Kihika’s absence, stemming from a legal dispute between the county government and hospital management over a 25-acre land lease. The county attempted to take over the hospital in October 2023, citing fraudulent lease extensions, leading to operational disruptions by January 2024. A March 22, 2025, Court of Appeal ruling dismissed the county’s bid to revoke the lease, but the hospital remains closed.

While Evans blames the healthcare crisis on Kihika’s absence, critics argue her deputy, Erick Kipkoech Korir, should manage county affairs per constitutional mandates. Korir has been active—including a June 2024 visit to KCA University—but residents report infighting between him and County Secretary Samuel Mwaura, suggesting a power struggle.

    Public Outcry

On March 20, 2025, Nakuru residents petitioned the County Assembly, demanding clarity on Kihika’s whereabouts. Some, including Senator Tabitha Karanja, have even threatened impeachment over alleged mismanagement.

Led by Evans, petitioners insist the assembly summon Kihika or her representatives to explain her absence from critical county events. They claim her prolonged leave has fueled infighting between Mwaura and Deputy Governor David Kones, both of whom have asserted authority in her absence.

Evans noted Kihika’s last public appearance was on November 18, 2024. Since then, Kones has assumed gubernatorial duties, such as flagging off medical supplies on December 20, 2024—a task residents argue required Kihika’s presence.

Unlike previous years, Kihika did not address residents directly during New Year celebrations, instead posting a brief social media message. “The county faces serious issues, yet she is nowhere to be seen. Who is making critical decisions? We need answers,” Evans said.

Residents also accuse Kihika of neglecting pressing social and security issues, such as the disappearance of fisherman Brian Odhiambo, a suspected extrajudicial killing case. Despite public outcry, Kihika has not commented or taken visible action.

    Unusual Appeal

The appeal to Trump marks a rare international escalation of a local governance dispute, underscoring residents’ frustration. Kihika has reportedly governed via social media, with handlers updating development projects on her official pages.

Evans’ drastic request highlights growing demands for accountability, urging Trump to ensure Kihika’s return and “restore the trust and democratic mandate placed in her by the electorate.”

As Nakuru grapples with this crisis, the situation exposes gaps in Kenyan law regarding prolonged absences of elected officials. Residents now await Kihika’s response—and whether her return will address the county’s mounting challenges.

Three Men Who Assaulted Woman During Husband Burial In Nyamira Arrested

Police in Nyamira County have arrested three men accused of assaulting a woman during a burial ceremony in Kiambere area, Mwongorisi Sub-location.

The suspects aged between 43 and 27 allegedly forced the woman to participate in traditional rituals against her will before attacking her, inflicting injuries.

In the undated footage, the men force the woman to throw a handful of soil into the grave as a farewell to the deceased, but she resists, prompting them to whip her.

“This incident is not only unfortunate but also deeply regrettable, as it is devoid of civility and basic human dignity,” Police said in a statement.

According to Police, the March 21, 2025, incident stemmed from a long-standing family dispute.

The woman had been separated from the deceased for nine years.

However, after his recent death in a road accident, her former mother-in-law asked her to bring their children to the funeral.

“As the burial proceedings took place, the woman was ambushed by in-laws who insisted she throw soil into the grave as part of customary rites,” said a senior investigating officer. “When she refused, they reportedly turned violent, accusing her of being responsible for her ex-husband’s death.”

The suspects are being held at Kiambere Police Station, where they are undergoing processing before being arraigned in court.

Meanwhile, police have intensified efforts to track down additional individuals believed to have been involved in the assault.

The NPS assured that it remains committed to upholding law and order and will hold those responsible to answer to their barbaric actions.

  • Director Charged With Defrauding DTB Bank Over Sh30M in Fraudulent Loan Scheme

Director Charged With Defrauding DTB Bank Over Sh30M in Fraudulent Loan Scheme

Samuel Mutai, the Director of Kipsigis Stores Ltd, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina at a Nairobi court on Monday, facing charges of defrauding Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) Limited of Sh30.8 million through a fraudulent loan scheme.

Mutai pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include obtaining loans using multiple collaterals and illegally disposing of mortgaged assets.

The prosecution alleges that on July 31, 2013, at DTB’s branch in Kericho County, Mutai, as director of Kipsigis Stores Ltd, conspired with others to secure loans amounting to Sh30,888,000, which he subsequently defaulted on.

In addition to the fraud charges, Mutai faces accusations of disposing of mortgaged properties—two Ashok Avia trucks and two Isuzu FVR trucks—belonging to DTB without the bank’s consent.

The fraudulent disposal is said to have occurred on August 15, 2018, within the Republic of Kenya.

Mutai was jointly charged with Alfred Kipkorir Mutai and John Fernandes Muiga, who failed to appear in court for plea taking.

Consequently, Magistrate Onyina issued warrants of arrest for the two absent co-accused and Kipsigis Stores Ltd, which was also named in the case.

The accused face three additional counts of similar offenses related to the fraudulent handling of mortgaged property.

During the hearing, Mutai, through his lawyer, appealed for leniency, arguing that he posed no flight risk and had fully cooperated with the investigation.

“I am a family man and willing to abide by any terms set by the court,” Mutai stated.

He further claimed that Kipsigis Stores Ltd had since been liquidated and that he was currently unemployed, casting himself as a victim caught in a “web of offenses committed by other persons.”

Mutai went as far as suggesting that DTB directors should be the ones facing arrest, alleging that he had been unlawfully targeted.

He added that he had spoken to the investigating officer, who was reportedly pursuing the “actual directors” of the company.

The court granted Mutai’s release on a bond of Sh1 million with a surety or an alternative cash bail of Sh500,000.

The case has drawn attention due to the significant sum involved and the allegations of misconduct tied to one of Kenya’s prominent financial institutions.

The prosecution is expected to proceed with the case against Mutai, while authorities work to apprehend Kipkorir and Fernandes to ensure all accused parties answer to the charges.

Investigative Journalist Recollects How He Turned Down Sh8M Cash Bribe From a Govt Official to Kill a Story

As he celebrated his 30th birthday, investigative journalist Brian Obuya took to Facebook to reflect on a rollercoaster career marked by integrity, resilience, and no shortage of dramatic moments—including the time he rejected a staggering Ksh 8 million bribe from a government official to bury a story.

    Cameraman’s fury

In a candid and humorous post, Obuya recounted the incident that left his cameraperson in disbelief. “One was to reject a Kes 8M bribe casually offered by a government official in a kibandaski  – my cameraperson almost swallowed me buana,” he wrote.

The offer, made in a roadside eatery, was a test of his principles—one he passed, cementing his reputation as a journalist unwilling to compromise.

Obuya’s reflections painted a picture of a career that began at 19 and has been anything but conventional.

“I have been fired or there have been advanced attempts to fire me every year of my employment since my first media job,” he shared with a laugh, hinting at the turbulence that comes with exposing hard truths.

Yet, he remains undeterred, crediting his faith and determination for keeping him grounded.

The journalist, who now looks back on three decades of life, also alluded to a bizarre smear campaign in late 2022.

“Nimelala tu in my dusty one bedroom in Mirema, natumiwa links how I’ve been found in a married woman’s house by the husband engaging in steamy horizontal movements ??,” he wrote, promising to one day share the full tale.

The false rumor, he suggested, was just one of many attempts to discredit him.

Despite the challenges, Obuya’s tone was celebratory as he marked his milestone birthday.

“It’s been three solid decades of chasing dreams, breaking barriers, and making memories,” he wrote.

“Happy Birthday, my older self! Here’s to bigger wins, louder laughs, and softer landings.”

His post ended with a prayer in Swahili, reflecting his reliance on faith: “Aniamshaye asubuhi, juzi kama jana na leo na labda kesho – isitiri nafsi yangu ili kwamba nisikufuru wakati wenzangu wanafuturu. Mungu mbele !!” Translated, it means, “He who wakes me each morning, yesterday, today, and perhaps tomorrow—shield my soul so I don’t curse while others prosper. God first!!”

The former NTV reporter is known for his hard-hitting exposés including the last one he compiled which targeted extremism in the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) church, he was fired in a massive layoff which affected several journalists at the Nation Media Group in June 2024.

This came just a few years after he quit working as an investigative reporter with KTN to take the role of Special reports and investigations at the Twin Towers.

As he steps into his thirties, unmarried, without a car or house by his own admission, Obuya embraces his path with humor and hope. “Sasa mimi ndio huyo mtu,” he quipped, proving that for him, integrity and a good laugh outweigh societal expectations any day.

DCI Seeks Help in Finding Man’s Stolen Car From Parking As He Watched Sunday’s Match

A football enthusiast’s Sunday outing turned sour after his car was stolen while he cheered on Kenya’s Harambee Stars during their World Cup Qualifiers match against Gabon at Nyayo Stadium.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is now appealing to the public for help in locating the missing vehicle.

The victim, still reeling from Kenya’s 2-1 defeat to the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang-led Gabonese side, parked his silver Toyota IST, registration number KBN 093B, along Kisauni Road behind Nairobi West Hospital at 3:40 p.m. on Sunday.

He then joined throngs of fans at the stadium to watch the highly anticipated showdown. However, when he returned shortly after 7 p.m., his car was nowhere to be found.

“I couldn’t believe it,” the man reportedly told officers at Akila Police Station in Lang’ata, where he filed his report. “I was already disappointed by the loss, and then this happened.”

After providing proof of ownership, the vehicle was officially circulated as stolen, with DCI Lang’ata spearheading the investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the silver Toyota IST to come forward. “We are working tirelessly to recover the vehicle and bring the culprits to justice,” the DCI posted on X. “The public’s assistance is crucial in cases like this.”

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, police in Juja are probing the theft of another vehicle—a white Toyota Axio, registration number KCR 628U.

The car was stolen from outside a residential house in the Matangi area near Rurii Primary School in Kimbo.

The owner had parked it on Saturday night, only to discover it missing the following morning.

The two thefts have raised concerns about vehicle security in parking areas across the region, prompting police to renew calls for vigilance among motorists.

“We encourage the public to report any suspicious activity around parked vehicles,” the DCI added.

The DCI is appealing to anyone who may have seen either the silver Toyota IST (KBN 093B) or the white Toyota Axio (KCR 628U) to contact the nearest police station or call the National Police Service hotlines: 999, 911, 112, or 0800722203. IEBC Panel: Gold Scam Allegation Dominates Anne Amadi’s Interview

A 2023  scam scandal allegations has come to haunt the former Judiciary Chief Registrar Anne Amadi.

Appearing before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Selection Panel Amadi called them an attempt to tarnish her integrity.

Amadi pointed out that she resigned from the law firm linked to the scandal in 2014 and was fully engaged in her Judiciary duties at the time.

“There was no reason for me to be named as the first respondent in that case. I had already left the firm and was not involved in its operations. The accusations were a deliberate attack to malign my integrity,” she stated.

She further clarified that she had no expertise in gold trade and played no role in the alleged dealings.

Amadi noted that both the High Court and Court of Appeal ruled in her favor, reaffirming that she had no connection to the scandal.

“The freezing of my accounts was unjustified, and the courts have since vindicated me. This was a clear attempt to taint my reputation due to my track record in public service,” she added.

The High Court May 19, 2023, froze Amadi’s bank accounts after authorities named her in the gold fraud case linked to her former law firm.

The court had also extended conservatory orders freezing Amadi’s assets to her son Brain Amadi who runs the law firm Amadi and Associates Advocates.

However, on July 9, 2023, the court unfroze the bank accounts after Justice Alfred Mabeya ruled that there was no evidence linking her to the Gold scam.

He noted that no evidence indicated that Amadi benefited from the alleged Sh102 million gold scam.

He stated that Amadi did not manage the firm’s daily operations and was not involved in receiving or disbursing the funds.

  • George Foreman Net Worth and Full Details of Heirs

George Foreman Net Worth and Full Details of Heirs

George Foreman wasn’t just a boxing legend—he was a financial comeback king. From Olympic gold medalist to heavyweight champion, and later, from bankruptcy to a $300 million net worth, his story is one of resilience and smart business moves.

But how did he turn his fortunes around? And who will inherit his massive wealth?

This investigation uncovers Foreman’s financial journey, his iconic grill empire, and the family set to inherit his fortune.

What Was George Foreman Net Worth?

George Foreman was a legendary American boxer and a highly successful businessman. At the time of his death, his net worth stood at $300 million.

Between 1969 and 1977, he saved around $5 million from his boxing earnings—equivalent to about $20 million today. However, bad investments and an extravagant lifestyle drained his fortune.

By 1987, ten years into retirement, he was completely broke. To recover financially, he returned to boxing and made an incredible comeback in the 1990s.

Boxing didn’t make Foreman a multi-millionaire. Most of his $300 million fortune came from a simple yet brilliant invention. His famous grill and the royalties it generated played a massive role in rebuilding his wealth.

    Early Life

George Foreman was born in Marshall, Texas, on January 10, 1949. He grew up in Houston’s Fifth Ward with six siblings. His mother married J.D. Foreman when George was young, but his biological father was Leroy Moorehead.

As a teenager, Foreman had a troubled past. He dropped out of school at 15 and got involved in crime, even working as a mugger. However, at 16, he decided to turn his life around. After seeing a Job Corps ad on TV, he convinced his mother to enroll him.

Through Job Corps, Foreman earned his GED and trained as a carpenter and bricklayer. With the help of a supervisor, he moved to Pleasanton, California, where he started boxing.

Initially, he loved football and idolized Jim Brown, but he eventually chose boxing as his path.

    Professional Career

In 1973, George Foreman reached the peak of his early boxing career by defeating Joe Frazier to become the undisputed heavyweight champion. However, his reign was short-lived.

In 1974, he lost the title to Muhammad Ali in the legendary Rumble in the Jungle fight in Zaire.

Foreman shocked the world by retiring unexpectedly in 1977 and becoming an ordained minister. A decade later, at 38, he made a stunning comeback.

Defying the odds, he regained the heavyweight title in 1994 by knocking out Michael Moorer at 45, making him the oldest heavyweight champion in history.

Outside the ring, Foreman built an even greater legacy as an entrepreneur. His George Foreman Grill became a household staple, earning him more wealth than boxing ever did.

His transformation from a fierce fighter to a cheerful businessman made him a beloved figure in American culture.

Foreman ended his career with an outstanding record of 76 wins and 5 losses, including 68 knockouts. In 2003, he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

    George Foreman Grill

    George Foreman Net Worth

The George Foreman Grill changed home cooking forever when it launched in 1994. Its sloped design drained fat away from food, making it a hit with health-conscious consumers.

Surprisingly, Foreman didn’t invent it—Michael Boehm and Robert Johnson did. They struggled to find a celebrity endorser until they approached Foreman.

At first, he had never used the grill, but after trying it, he became a firm believer. When Salton, Inc. acquired the marketing rights, the grill’s success skyrocketed.

Foreman’s warm and enthusiastic personality in infomercials won over audiences. His famous slogan, “It’s so good I put my name on it,” helped turn the grill into a must-have kitchen appliance.

Financially, the grill was a game changer for Foreman. He initially earned $138,000 per month in royalties, but as sales exploded, his earnings soared to $8 million per month.

By 1999, after selling over 20 million units, Salton bought out his rights for $137.5 million. In total, Foreman made over $250 million from the grill—far more than he ever earned in boxing.

    Car Collection

In November 2023, George Foreman announced the auction of his prized car collection through Hagerty Marketplace.

The auction featured over 50 classic and rare vehicles, all offered with no reserve. Running until December 21, 2023, the event attracted collectors worldwide, generating impressive sales.

Foreman’s collection included muscle cars, luxury tourers, and rare exotics. Bidders valued both the vehicles’ pristine condition and their celebrity connection.

The auction was a huge success, reflecting Foreman’s deep passion for automobiles.

    Notable Sales from Foreman’s Collection

    • 2005 Ford GT – Sold for $330,000, featuring under 790 miles.
    • 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window “Fuelie” Coupe – Iconic Sebring Silver model, fetched $125,000.
    • 1987 Ferrari Testarossa – Owned by Foreman since 1992, with 3,400 miles, sold for $143,000.
    • 1959 Chevrolet Impala Tri-Power Convertible – A sleek black-over-red cruiser, sold for $153,000.
    • 1999 Prevost Vantare H3-45 VIP Touring Coach – A luxury bus, sold for $115,000.

The auction not only highlighted Foreman’s love for cars but also showcased his impeccable taste in classic automobiles.

    Personal Life

George Foreman married Mary Joan in 1985, and they remained together until his death in 2025. Over his lifetime, he had 12 children from various relationships.

Foreman married four times before Mary Joan:

    • Adrienna Calhoun (1971–1974)
    • Cynthia Lewis (1977–1979)
    • Sharon Goodson (1981–1982)
    • Andrea Skeete (1982–1985)

In a unique tradition, Foreman named all five of his sons George Edward Foreman. Most of his daughters also have “George” as a middle name, except for one, Georgetta.

    Real Estate

George Foreman’s first known property was a 4-acre ranch in Livermore, California, where he trained in the 1970s and kept exotic pets, including a lion and a tiger.

After retiring in 1977, he sold the ranch and shifted his focus to ministry work.

In the 1990s, Foreman moved to Kingwood, Texas, an upscale Houston suburb, where he raised his family in a sprawling home with a backyard pool. Though he later relocated, he retained ownership of the property.

Around the same time, he purchased a 300-acre ranch in Marshall, Texas, his hometown. This ranch became his rural retreat, complete with horses, cattle, and other animals.

In 2002, Foreman expanded his real estate portfolio, buying a luxury beachfront townhouse in Malibu, California, for $2.3 million. He used it as a vacation home during trips to Los Angeles.

His most extravagant estate was a 29-acre Mediterranean-style mansion in Huffman, Texas, built in the early 2000s.

The home featured nearly 12,000 square feet of living space and an 11,000-square-foot garage that could house 55 cars. In late 2024, Foreman listed the property for $9.5 million.

George Foreman Net Worth and His Heirs: Who Will Inherit His Fortune?

Foreman had 12 children—five sons and seven daughters—from multiple marriages. His wife, Mary Joan Martelly, whom he married in 1985, is expected to inherit a significant portion of his estate.

    Foreman’s Complicated Family Legacy

    Foreman was married five times:

    • Adrienne Calhoun (1971–1974)
    • Cynthia Lewis (1977–1979)
    • Sharon Goodson (1981–1982)
    • Andrea Skeete (1982–1985)
    • Mary Joan Martelly (1985–2024)

He famously named all five of his sons George Edward Foreman, leading to jokes about “George Foreman’s George Foremans.” His daughters, however, have different names.

How His Wealth Will Be Divided

While exact details remain private, sources suggest:

    • Mary Joan Martelly will likely control a large share.
    • His 12 children will receive substantial inheritances.
    • Some funds may go to charities and religious causes (Foreman was an ordained minister).

  • ‘Kutahiri ni Muhimu’: Salasya Picks Up Fight With Luos After Being Thrown Out of Nyayo Stadium

‘Kutahiri ni Muhimu’: Salasya Picks Up Fight With Luos After Being Thrown Out of Nyayo Stadium

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya, who narrowly escaped on Sunday after rowdy spectators attacked and forcibly ejected him from Nyayo National Stadium, has picked a fight with the Luo community in a series of disparaging posts shared on his official social media channels.

Salasya, who posted a video of himself at home minutes after his security detail whisked him to safety, claimed that members of the Luo community were behind his attack at the stadium, saying, “Wajaluo wanataka kuniuwa!” (The Luos want to kill me!)

He went further to issue threats, stating that while he could have reacted violently to the attack, he chose not to but vowed to “take someone down” (implying kill) if a similar incident happened in the future.

He also went for the jugular with the statement, “Kutahiri ni kitu muhimu, it removes stupidity in someone’s oblongata,” a common derogatory phrase used by many to ridicule the Luos for not being circumcised due to their cultural practices.

He continued his attacks, even expressing gratitude that the national team lost their match against Gabon because of what he called the “Luo and Raila curse.”

“Thank God Harambee Stars lost because of the Luo curse in the field today. They lost at AUC, and their curse has made Harambee Stars lose again today after beating me up and harassing a true patriot of the country. The good news: next time watajaribu wakijua ni jokes, at least Kenyans have seen. Thank you, God, for disappointing Raila Odinga everywhere he goes with his selfishness. Kenyans, let’s stand firm against that political conman. He has played with Kenyans’ psychology for a very long time,” he wrote on Facebook.

In what appears to be an escalation of the situation into tribal animosity, Salasya has embarked on reposting videos from his supporters from the Luhya tribe disparaging the Luos.

“The Luo men attacking me is attacking the Luhya nation and attacking the whole country. We shall revisit ODM, itabaki Luo land with their conman. I swear. The journey has just started today,” Salasya quoted one of the videos.

In response to another video from his supporters, he said, “Thanks, my brother. I was treated like a thief today. I voted for him in 2017 and campaigned for him. I campaigned for him and voted for him in 2022. I participated in all his maandamano za ujinga. Nilivaa sufuria, but the best I received today was their worst. Luos, repent and realize yourselves, or you will be the most neglected people in this country.”

    Nyayo Stadium Fiasco

Salasya had barely settled at the pitch when the crowd attempted to rough him up, with some throwing objects toward him.

In a now-viral video, some members of the public tried to grab him while another threw a plastic container at him.

A voice from the crowd could be heard shouting, “Respect the president and Raila!”

Security officers swiftly intervened and escorted him out of the stadium to his car.

Salasya was among Kenyans who had gone to watch the crucial World Cup qualifier match between Harambee Stars and Gabon.

The lawmaker is one of the leaders who has been on record for criticizing opposition chief Raila Odinga over his political moves.

Despite being part of the Azimio la Umoja coalition, Salasya showed rebellion when he first refused to vote for the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Lately, he has become more rebellious following his removal from the Agriculture Committee to the Members Services House team.

In an interview, the legislator referred to Odinga as “a selfish man.”

He had also confronted the president on the same podium about his administration and leadership.

President William Ruto was also present at the stadium amid the tension.

The former Arsenal marksman then extended Gabon’s lead at the start of second half, converting from the penalty spot after Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma had handled the ball in the box.

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga then pulled one back for the hosts in the 75th minute, tapping in at the near post from Marcelo’s low cross from the left.

Despite camping in Gabon’s half, the hosts were unable to get their much-needed equaliser.

Following the loss, Stars remain rooted in fourth in Group F with six points as their opponents of the day climb to first with 13 points.

“Building is part of me. Nimejenga madarasa tangu niwe mjumbe. Nia yangu ni kujenga manyumba 500,000 na hata akule State House mi najenga. Katika hiyo harakati ya kujenga pia kanisa la Mungu tutajenga. I’m sure that is the will of God,” said Ruto.

“Tutamuaibisha shetani. Shetani hawezi kutuzuia kujenga nchi yetu ama kujenga makanisa zetu,” he said.

At the same time, the President reiterated his administration’s commitment to expanding Nairobi’s education and housing infrastructure.

He noted that the government is addressing classroom shortages by constructing 3,500 new classrooms in the county, with 500 already under construction.

“We will continue to build classrooms for the next five years until we have enough,” he said.

“We will also continue hiring more teachers because the greatest legacy we can leave for the future of our country is to make sure that every child in Kenya accesses quality education, and no child is left behind.”

On housing, President Ruto revealed that the government intends to construct over 40,000 affordable units in Eastlands, Nairobi, as part of efforts to provide low-income earners with homeownership opportunities.

“We want to change the face of this area. We want to make it a city,” he said.

The President also urged leaders to unite in transforming the country while emphasising the need to keep Kenya free from tribalism and political divisions.

He encouraged parents to mentor their children to protect them from negative influences and instill values that will shape them into responsible citizens.

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, who accompanied the President, called on religious leaders to work with the government in educating the public on initiatives such as the registration for universal healthcare.

“The programme will benefit the most vulnerable people in the country. However, they must be registered,” he said.

He also urged religious leaders to avoid engaging in politics and instead focus on providing moral guidance to the society.
