  • Trump Says Epstein ‘Stole’ Young Women From His Mar-a-Lago Spa

Trump Says Epstein ‘Stole’ Young Women From His Mar-a-Lago Spa

US President Donald Trump has said he fell out with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after he “stole” young women who worked at his Mar-a-Lago beach club spa.

The president made the remarks as he returned from Scotland, where he faced more questions over his relationship with the disgraced financier.

“He took people, I say ‘don’t do it anymore’, you know they work for me… beyond that, he took some others,” Trump said. “Once he did that, that was the end of him.”

It comes as the legal team for Epstein’s conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell, indicated she would only testify before Congress on what she knows about the case if she is granted strict legal protections.

Amid public pressure for more disclosures in the Epstein case, a House of Representatives committee subpoenaed Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence, to testify before lawmakers on 11 August.

In a letter obtained by the BBC’s US partner CBS, her legal team said she would only do so if granted immunity or pardoned, and provided with questions in advance.

Questions about Trump’s relationship with Epstein followed him on to Air Force One on Tuesday, where he was asked to expand on comments he made the previous day in Scotland where he said: “He [Epstein] stole people that worked for me.”

Asked if the employees were young women, Trump responded: “the answer is yes”, and added that they were hired “out of the spa” he ran.

Trump said that one of them was Virginia Giuffre, who had said she began working at Mar-a-Lago in the summer of 2000, when she was 16.

According to court documents unsealed in 2019, Giuffre alleged she was recruited by Ghislaine Maxwell to give massages to Epstein while she was working at the spa.

Giuffre accused Prince Andrew and Epstein of sexual abuse, allegations they both denied. She died by suicide earlier this year in Australia.

Trump remark’s aboard Air Force One are his latest on how he and Epstein’s relationship ended.

Last week, the White House said Trump kicked Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago club “for being a creep”.

Pressed on whether there was a discrepancy between the reasons, Trump said: “You know, it’s sort of a little bit of the same thing.”

Trump and Epstein fell out in the early 2000s, after having been friends for more than a decade.

It also comes amid mounting pressure on Trump officials to release files related to Epstein and growing frustration with the administration’s handling of the issue, including its failure to deliver a rumoured “client list”.

Trump had promised to release such files about the well-connected sex offender while campaigning for the presidency last year. But in a memo earlier this month, the justice department and FBI said there was no “incriminating” list.

Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported that Attorney General Pam Bondi informed Trump during a May briefing that his name was among hundreds that appeared in justice department documents related to Epstein. Being named in such files is no confirmation of wrongdoing.

The two were spotted together at parties throughout their friendship. At least two women who had attended those events later came forward with sexual assault allegations against Trump.

One of them was Jill Harth, who accused Trump in a 1997 lawsuit of forcibly kissing her and fondling her at a Mar-a-Lago event for young women where Epstein was also in attendance, the New York Times reported. Trump denied the allegations and the lawsuit was dropped.

Another woman, model Stacey Williams, accused Trump of groping her after she was brought to Trump Tower in Manhattan by Epstein to greet Trump. The president has also denied her allegations.

Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported that Trump had written a “bawdy” letter to Epstein in 2003 for his birthday.

It reportedly contained a joking reference that “enigmas never age” and allegedly ended with the words: “A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday – and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

Trump has dismissed the article as “fake” and has sued the publication for defamation.

Ghislaine Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence

Trump and Epstein reportedly fell out in 2004 over a sought-after Palm Beach oceanfront property that had fallen into foreclosure. Trump ultimately outbid Epstein for the home.

In 2006, Epstein was indicted in Florida for solicitation of prostitution and later pleaded guilty to the charges. He was then arrested in 2019 over federal charges of sex trafficking, and died by suicide in prison before his trial.

Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence after she was found guilty of helping Epstein sexually exploit and abuse young girls over the course of a decade.

She was subpoenaed by House Oversight chairman James Comer last week to testify before Congress.

Her lawyers made an appeal for clemency from President Trump, writing that if she “were to receive clemency, she would be willing – and eager – to testify openly and honestly”.

Earlier on Tuesday, a spokesperson for Comer said the Kentucky congressman “will not consider granting congressional immunity for her testimony”.

Comer told CNN last week that there were not “many Republicans that want to give immunity to someone that may have been sex trafficking children”.

Asked whether he would give clemency to Maxwell, Trump told reporters last week that doing so was within his powers, but that he had “not thought” about it.

  • Trump Claims Obama ‘Coup’ As Epstein Questions Mount

Trump Claims Obama ‘Coup’ As Epstein Questions Mount

President Donald Trump sought Tuesday to distract from the growing furor over his administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal by pushing extraordinary claims that Barack Obama tried to mount a coup.

The accusations, delivered in the Oval Office, followed a surprise announcement that Trump’s Department of Justice would question an imprisoned, key former assistant to Epstein.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement on X that disgraced British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, serving a 20-year sentence for her role in Epstein’s alleged pedophile scheme, would be queried for new information.

“No lead is off-limits,” Blanche said.

However, the show of transparency appeared to be part of a concerted effort by the White House and Trump’s allies to quell speculation about the convicted sex offender, who was long rumored to be a pedophile pimp to the powerful and who committed suicide in his prison cell in 2019.

While meeting with the Philippines’ president in the White House, Trump dismissed the Epstein case as “a witch hunt.”

“The witch hunt that you should be talking about is, they caught President Obama, absolutely cold,” he said, launching into a meandering series of unsubstantiated accusations around Obama trying to “steal” the 2016 election, when Trump defeated Hillary Clinton.

“Obama was leading a coup,” Trump said.

An Obama spokesman called the claim “outrageous.”

The coup accusation centers on claims that fly in the face of multiple high-level official probes by the US government. However, it resonates with Trump’s far-right base — in part thanks to blanket coverage by the popular Fox News network.

Trump’s attacks on Obama are “part of a larger strategy of distraction, but they also serve another function: to cast the president as a victim of Democratic treachery,” said Todd Belt, at GW University’s Graduate School of Political Management.

Obama’s spokesman echoed this, saying Trump engaged in a “ridiculous and weak attempt at distraction.”

In another ploy to bury the Epstein controversy, Speaker Mike Johnson, a key Trump Republican loyalist, said he would shut down the House of Representatives until September.

This was to avoid what he called “political games” over attempts by mostly Democrats to force votes on exposing more about the Epstein case.

    – Entangled in conspiracy theory –

Epstein was awaiting trial on trafficking charges when he was found hanged in his New York cell.

Authorities declared it a suicide but the death super-charged fears, especially on the far-right, that a “deep state” cover-up is in place to prevent the names of Epstein’s clients from being made known.

Trump’s attempts to stop Epstein speculation clash with the fact that his own supporters are the ones who have most pushed conspiracy theories — and believed that Trump would resolve the mysteries.

They were outraged when Trump’s FBI and Justice Department said on July 7 that the death was confirmed a suicide and that Epstein never blackmailed prominent figures or even had a client list.

Trump tried numerous measures to placate his base, including ordering Attorney General Pam Bondi to try to obtain release of grand jury testimony in Epstein’s aborted New York case.

But the issue flamed up again last week when The Wall Street Journal reported that it had seen a birthday greeting penned in 2003 by Trump to Epstein on his 50th birthday.

The letter reportedly featured a hand-drawn naked woman, with Trump’s signature forming her pubic hair, and reference to their shared “wonderful secret.”

Trump insists he did not send the letter and has filed a lawsuit against the Journal.

Trump has never been accused of wrongdoing but was close friends with Epstein for years and was photographed attending parties with him.

Among the other celebrities with connections to Epstein was Britain’s Prince Andrew, who settled a US civil case in February 2022 brought by Virginia Giuffre, who claimed he sexually assaulted her when she was 17.

Giuffre committed suicide at her home in Australia in April.

Maxwell is the only former Epstein associate who has been convicted. She is appealing her sentence before the Supreme Court.

David Oscar Markus, Maxwell’s lawyer, confirmed on X that he was in discussions about her meeting with government representatives.

“We are grateful to President Trump for his commitment to uncovering the truth in this case,” Markus added.

  • Khamenei Says Iran Will ‘Never Surrender’, Warns Off US

Khamenei Says Iran Will ‘Never Surrender’, Warns Off US

Tehran (AFP) – Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Wednesday the nation would never surrender as demanded by President Donald Trump and warned the United States it would face “irreparable damage” if it intervenes in support of its ally.

The speech came six days into the conflict, with Trump demanding Iran’s “unconditional surrender” while boasting the United States could kill Khamenei and fuelling speculation about a possible intervention.

The long-range blitz began Friday, when Israel launched a massive bombing campaign that prompted Iran to respond with missiles and drones.

“This nation will never surrender,” Khamenei said in a speech read on state television, in which he called Trump’s ultimatum “unacceptable”.

“America should know that any military intervention will undoubtedly result in irreparable damage,” he said.

Khamenei, in power since 1989 and the final arbiter of all matters of state in Iran, had earlier vowed the country would show “no mercy” towards Israel’s leaders.

The speech followed a night of strikes, with Israeli attacks destroying two buildings making centrifuge components for Iran’s nuclear programme near Tehran, according to the UN nuclear watchdog.

“More than 50 Israeli Air Force fighter jets… carried out a series of air strikes in the Tehran area over the past few hours,” the Israeli military said, adding that several weapons manufacturing facilities were hit.

“As part of the broad effort to disrupt Iran’s nuclear weapons development programme, a centrifuge production facility in Tehran was targeted.”

Centrifuges are vital for uranium enrichment, the sensitive process that can produce fuel for reactors or, in highly extended form, the core of a nuclear warhead.

The strikes destroyed two buildings making centrifuge components for Iran’s nuclear programme in Karaj, a satellite city of Tehran, the International Atomic Energy Agency said.

In another strike on a site in Tehran, “one building was hit where advanced centrifuge rotors were manufactured and tested”, the agency added in a post on X.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they had launched hypersonic Fattah-1 missiles at Tel Aviv.

Hypersonic missiles travel at more than five times the speed of sound and can manoeuvre mid-flight, making them harder to track and intercept.

No missile struck Tel Aviv overnight, though AFP photos showed Israel’s air defence systems activated to intercept missiles over the commercial hub.

Iran also sent a “swarm of drones” towards Israel, while the Israeli military said it had intercepted a total of 10 drones launched from Iran.

It said one of its own drones had been shot down over Iran.

    ‘Unconditional surrender’

Trump fuelled speculation about US intervention when he made a hasty exit from the G7 summit in Canada, where the leaders of the club of wealthy democracies called for de-escalation but backed Israel’s “right to defend itself”.

He boasted that the United States could easily assassinate Khamenei.

“We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there — We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Trump met with his National Security Council to discuss the conflict. There was no immediate public statement after the hour and 20 minute meeting.

US officials stressed Trump has not yet made a decision about any intervention.

    Evacuations

Israel’s attacks have hit nuclear and military facilities around Iran, as well as residential areas.

Residential areas in Israel have also been hit, and foreign governments have scrambled to evacuate their citizens from both countries.

Many Israelis spent another night disrupted by air raid warnings, with residents of coastal hub Tel Aviv repeatedly heading for shelters when sirens rang out warning of incoming Iranian missiles.

In the West Bank city of Ramallah, perched at 800 metres (2,600 feet) above sea level and with a view over Tel Aviv, some residents gathered on rooftops and balconies to watch.

An AFP journalist reported cheers and whistles as dozens of missiles flew overhead, with Israeli air defences activating to intercept them, causing mid-air explosions which lit up the sky.

Since Friday, at least 24 people have been killed in Israel and hundreds wounded, according to Netanyahu’s office.

Iran said on Sunday that Israeli strikes had killed at least 224 people, including military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians. It has not issued an updated toll since then.

On Tuesday in Tehran, long queues stretched outside bakeries and petrol stations as people rushed to stock up on fuel and basic supplies.

Iran’s ISNA and Tasnim news agencies on Wednesday reported that five suspected agents of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency had been detained, on charges of tarnishing the country’s image online.

    Nuclear facilities

The UN nuclear watchdog said there appeared to have been “direct impacts on the underground enrichment halls” at Iran’s Natanz facility.

Israel has maintained ambiguity regarding its own atomic activities, but the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) says it has 90 nuclear warheads.

The conflict derailed a running series of nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington, with Iran saying after the start of Israel’s campaign that it would not negotiate with the United States while under attack.

Israeli Spyware Firm Odered to Pay $167 Million for WhatsApp Hack

A US federal jury ordered Israeli spyware company NSO Group to pay more than $167 million in damages for hacking the devices of approximately 1,400 WhatsApp users in 2019 using its Pegasus software.

The verdict delivered Tuesday after a five-year legal battle includes $167.25 million in punitive damages and $445,000 in compensatory damages to WhatsApp and its parent company, Meta.

The US District Court for the Northern District of California rejected NSO Group’s claim of sovereign immunity as a private company, finding that the Pegasus spyware exploited vulnerabilities in WhatsApp’s platform.

The Pegasus tool enabled “zero-click” attacks that could infect devices without any user interaction, a capability governments allegedly used to surveil journalists, dissidents and activists worldwide.

Meta hailed the ruling as “the first victory against illegal spyware that threatens the safety and privacy of everyone.”

“The jury’s decision to force NSO to pay damages is a critical deterrent to this malicious industry against their illegal acts aimed at American companies and our users worldwide,” it said in a statement.

Evidence presented during the trial revealed WhatsApp was not NSO’s only target. Meta noted that while it stopped the attack vector that exploited the company’s calling system in 2019, “Pegasus has had many other spyware installation methods” targeting different technologies.

The case began in October 2019 when WhatsApp filed a lawsuit claiming that the NSO Group had deployed malware to some mobile devices.

  • FBI Discovers Around 2,400 Secret JFK Assassination Records: Report

FBI Discovers Around 2,400 Secret JFK Assassination Records: Report

The FBI discovered about 2,400 records tied to US President John F. Kennedy’s 1963 assassination, according to a report by Axios on Monday.

The still-secret records are contained in 14,000 pages of documents the FBI found in a review prompted by President Donald Trump’s Jan. 23 executive order to release all of JFK’s assassination records. The records were never provided through a task force that was supposed to review and disclose the documents, Axios reported.

Conspiracy theories about Kennedy’s Nov. 22, 1963 assassination at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas have been talked about for 61 years, fueled by the government’s reluctance to release all of the documents.

The existence of the new JFK documents was disclosed to the White House on Friday, and a further review of those records could reveal more information as to what happened in one of the most scrutinized tragedies in American history. The release of the new documents could also change the federal procedures for vetting and releasing information related to government events.

“This is huge. It shows the FBI is taking this seriously,” assassination expert Jefferson Morley told Axios.

Morley is also the vice president of the nonpartisan Mary Ferrell Foundation, the nation’s largest source of online records of Kennedy’s killing.

“The FBI is finally saying, ‘Let’s respond to the president’s order,’ instead of keeping the secrecy going,” added Morley.

Under the 1992 JFK Records Act, assassination records were supposed to be handed over to the JFK Assassination Records Review Board and then to the National Archives, which were to be fully disclosed in 2017 during Trump’s first term in the White House. However, the Axios report revealed that the newly discovered records had not been submitted or vetted by either of those entities.

At the advice of the CIA in 2017, Trump delayed disclosure of the records that the government had identified. President Joe Biden then ordered a limited release of the records, which continued to promote the public’s view of the government’s shroud of secrecy.

Experts say that the remaining records to be disclosed are unlikely to definitively prove whether Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole gunman who pulled the trigger or if he was part of a broader conspiracy to assassinate Kennedy, but it could put to rest the cover-up of documents that critics have blamed on the government for more than a half century.

Despite Trump’s order to release all of the JFK assassination records, sources told Axios that the various intelligence agencies with records of the assassination are still recommending redactions.

“When POTUS hears about this stonewalling, he’s gonna hit the roof,” a White House official told Axios.

Trump’s order also calls for the release of records related to the June 5, 1968 assassination of JFK’s brother, Robert F. Kennedy (RFK), as well as the assassination of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) on April 4, 1968. The records of both RFK and MLK are expected to be released by March 9.

  • Why The US Has Suspended The Shipment Of Weapons To Israel

Why The US Has Suspended The Shipment Of Weapons To Israel

(France 24)-Is this the end of unconditional US support for Israel? With Netanyahu’s government seemingly ignoring Washington’s warnings of the dire humanitarian consequences of a ground incursion for Rafah’s civilian population, US President Joe Biden on Wednesday threatened to stop deliveringcertain types of munitions to Israel if it pushes into the southern Gaza city, notably the 2,000-pound bombs Israel has been using in its offensive.

“Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of those bombs and other ways in which they go after population centers,” Biden acknowledged in a one-on-one interview with CNN.

“I made it clear that if they go into Rafah … I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities.”

The US president’s ultimatum came as Netanyahu’s government said it was preparing a “limited” offensive in Rafah despite UN warningsthat a ground assault could lead to a “bloodbath”. Around 1.4 million Palestinians, most of them displaced by Israel’s months-long assault on the besieged enclave, are believed to be crammed into the city.

Biden’s threat has already partly been carried out, US officials have said. Washington last week suspended the delivery of 1,800 of the 2,000-pound bombs, a US official told AP on condition of anonymity, likely MK-84s as well as 1,700 smaller 500-pound bombs.

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin told a Senate hearing on Wednesday that an area as densely populated as Rafah demanded less powerful and more precise weapons. The city, which borders Egypt, has an average of 20,000 inhabitants crammed into every square kilometre, according to the UN – the same urban density as the city of Paris.

“We’re going to continue to do what’s necessary to ensure that Israel has the means to defend itself,” Austin said. “But that said, we are currently reviewing some near-term security assistance shipments in the context of unfolding events in Rafah.”

Austin said the US was pausing shipment of “high-payload munitions” over Israeli plans for an incursion into Rafah without an adequate plan for protecting the 1 million civilians who have sought shelter there.

    A history of violence

MK-84 bombs have been used by the US militarysince the 1970s, first in Vietnam and then, more sparingly, in Iraq and Afghanistan due to their devastating impact on urban areas. Human Rights Watch has said that these munitions were also used by the Saudi-led coalition in the 2016 bombing of a market in Yemen that killed more than a hundred civilians.

Although these bombs can be modified with the addition of a precision guidance system, this measure would likely do little to avoid civilian deaths in an enclave as densely packed as the Gaza Strip.

Containing 900 pounds of explosives, these 4.5-metre-long bombs leave immense craters in their wake and scatter thousands of potentially lethal fragments in all directions. Nothing within a 350-metre radius can survive.

Military experts say these deadly bombs may have already contributed significantly to the horrific death toll of the war in Gaza. According to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry, almost 34,000 Palestinians have been killed since war broke out following Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel that killed almost 1,200 people.

Israel has frequently used these US-supplied bombs in an effort to dislodge Hamas militants from a labyrinthine network of underground tunnels beneath Gaza. According to a New York Times investigation published in December 2023, Israel dropped MK-84 bombs on Gaza every day during the first six weeks of the conflict. On at least 200 occasions, Israeli armed forces have directly targeted areas that were specifically designated as safe for Gazan civilians.

Israel has been criticised for years by human rights NGOs for its widespread use of these gratuitously powerful bombs during previous conflicts in the Gaza Strip.

“These bombs are used to inflict extremely heavy damage, either indiscriminately or completely deliberately, on residential areas or civilian infrastructure, which is forbidden under international law,” Amnesty International France director Jean-Claude Samouiller said. “This has not been respected by Israel, either during this current war in Gaza or in the past.”

    ‘Be careful’

Israel’s UN Ambassador Gilad Erdan described the US move in an interview with Israel’s Channel 12 as “a very disappointing decision, even frustrating”.

The US is Israel’s leading arms supplier by far. Last month, Congress approved the sale of $14.3 billion in additional arms as part of a larger package that also earmarked military aid for Ukraine and Taiwan. That comes on top of the $3.8 billion in military aid the US sends Israel every year, most of which Israel must use to purchase US military equipment and services.

But this generous support has been called into question since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war. Amid outcry from the Muslim community and the progressive left as well as pro-Palestinian protests at major universities, some Democrats are worried about the consequences of the Middle East crisis on the November presidential election.

This decision is the most spectacular sign to date of the mounting disagreements that are poisoning the Biden administration’s relationship with the Netanyahu government, which has brushed off US requests to take greater care to avoid the loss of Palestinian civilian lives.

“It’s an insufficient first step, but it sends a strong signal to Israel,” Samouiller said.

Biden’s announcement also comes amid the ongoing failure of ceasefire talks in Cairo. The latest ceasefire talks collapsed on Thursday with no agreement to halt the fighting or release hostages.

Netanyahu instead maintains he is determined to annihilate Hamas by launching a bloody assault on Rafah, which he maintains is the Palestinian militant group’s last refuge.

Israeli troops seized control of the Rafah border crossing on Tuesday – essential in the supply of humanitarian aid to Gaza – and ordered the evacuation of 100,000 Palestinians. The IDF has also launched what it calls “targeted strikes” in the city’s east.

Washington’s decision is “some kind of diplomatic message to Mr Netanyahu that he needs to take into consideration American interests more than he has over the last few months”, former deputy head of Israel’s National Security Council Itamar Yaar told the Associated Press. Yaar added that while the decision would not have an immediate impact on Israel’s military capacities, he stressed that it was “a kind of a signal, a ‘Be careful’”.

Rich Kenyans Avoid Local Currency And Sitting On Sh1.4 Trillion

Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) data reveals that Corporates and wealthy individuals are sitting on Sh1.41 trillion cash pile in a soft economy.

This comes at a time when every sector in the current economy is struggling rather facing a cash crunch. CBK says investment options are becoming limited and the rich have opted for soft-economy which has reflected a growth of 27 percent since 2017.

CBK’s data indicates that the rich are saving in Foreign currency. The fixed deposits of foreign currency rose from Sh553.2 billion to Sh625.3 billion in two years. Clearly, the rich have created their parallel economy and obviously protecting their value by hedging against the local currency.

The revelation comes in the backdrop of CBK’s data showing that cash in circulation outside banks stood at Sh227 billion in October, down from Sh269 billion in the same month last year.

Economists and financial Analysts stated that high-net-worth investors and companies with billions of shillings in fixed accounts have opted not to invest in expanding their businesses or starting new ventures, citing lower sales and returns.

The cash in banks fixed deposits accounts is now equivalent to what the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) collects annually from taxes.

“The future output sub-index still indicates that firms are cautious on activity over the coming year,” said Jibran Qureishi, regional economist for East Africa at Stanbic — which tracks business through its monthly Kenya Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI).

Since 2017, when Kenya went through a bruising General Election and a repeat presidential election, many companies have fallen into a financial crisis which has caused reduced investments, hiring plans and a continuation of job cuts. Our President, funny enough—an economist— is still wondering why Kenyans not only lack jobs but also broke to the tooth.

Dr Roselyn Akombe Reminds Senator Wako Why He Was Slapped With A US Travel Ban

Just days after the Chief Editor of this site published an exclusive Wikileaks exposé on why the longest-serving Attorney General of Kenya Senator Amos Wako and his family were banned from going to the United States, former IEBC Commissioner Dr Roselyn Akombe has slammed the Busia Senator for pretending dumb about the blacklisting by Trump administration.

US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo stated that the former long-time Kenyan Attorney-General, was involved in substantial corruption and graft dealing.

Today’s action sends a strong signal that the United States is a valuable partner in Kenya’s fight against corruption,” said Pompeo in a statement on Monday.

In his defense, Senator Wako challenged the US government to table evidence that he was involved in graft. He further claimed that the US was unable to do so in justification of the 2009 travel ban.

“When the US issued a travel ban against me in 2009, I instructed my attorney to write to them to demand this information and it was not forthcoming. I still demand to know because I have never been implicated in corruption or prosecuted for the same. It took over 6 months for my attorney to receive a reply. I am a man of integrity because I have never been involved in any form of corruption,” he added.

The US government has bannished Amos Wako, his wife Flora Ngaira and son Julius Wako.

  • New US Visa Applicants Must Have Health Insurance

New US Visa Applicants Must Have Health Insurance

Tomorrow, Sunday 3rd, a new policy change affecting green card applicants will be rolled out by the US government and its embassies.

In the set policy,  foreign Visa and Green card Applicants will be compeled to prove to consular officers that they will have unsubsidized health insurance within 30 days of arriving in the US.  Alternatively, prove that they will have enough money to pay for reasonably foreseeable medical costs if allowed in the United States.

The new policy will only affect folks applying for immigrant Visas from outside the US and it does not apply to those already living in the country but applying for green cards or renewal of Visas.

Parents of adult US citizens are exempt from the rule, but will need to prove to a consular officer that they will not become a substantial burden on the US healthcare system.

Here are a list of classes of immigrants that are also exempt from the new health insurance rule:

    • Anyone with an immigrant visa issued before the effective date of the proclamation (Nov. 3, 2019)
    • Green card holders seeking reentry under SB-1 (returning resident) visas
    • Refugees and asylum seekers
    • Iraqi or Afghan nationals entering using Special Immigrant visas
    • Unmarried children (under the age of 21) of U.S. citizens
    • Orphans or other children being adopted by U.S. citizens
    • Immigrants admitted in the national interest, or to further law enforcement goals

Here are the health insurance plans passed by the Trump administration after they fulfilled the new requirement:

    • Employer-sponsored plans, including retiree plans, association health plans, and coverage under COBRA
    • Any unsubsidized health plan bought through an Obamacare marketplace
    • Short-term insurance covering at least 364 days, or until the start of a planned period of travel outside the United States
    • Catastrophic plans
    • Coverage under a family member’s health insurance
    • Certain military health insurance programs, including TRICARE
    • Medicare plans
    • Other plans approved by the Department of Health and Human Services

According to Migration Policy Institute, the new health insurance rules will see more than 375,000 green card applications rejected.

The main critics of the rule that takes effect from midnight are Immigration advocates. According to them, the set policy is Trump’s way of legally “illegally” doing away with family-based migration.

On their response to allegations, Trump’s administration stated that uninsured immigrants fall back on taxpayer-funded health care, driving up costs for Americans by $35 billion each year. A figure that Immigration advocates and healthcare experts have refuted saying that Trump has not only exaggerated but also failed to prove.

Pathologist Reveals That Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein Was Murdered

Michael Baden, a pathologist contracted by the late dollar billionaire Jeffrey Epstein’s brother has said that the financier did not commit suicide in his jail cell as reported earlier. Baden states that his private study reveals that Epstein was murdered.

“I study evidence points toward homicide rather than suicide. The injuries are pointing to homicidal strangulation” Baden, a former New York City medical examiner who conducted private autopsy said.

According to Baden, the multiple fractures found in Epstein’s neck, specifically the hyoid bone and thyroid cartilage, were very rare for suicide.

On August 10th this year, Dollar Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was on suicide watch, was found dead in New York’s high-security Metropolitan Correctional Center as he awaited trial on allegations that he trafficked girls as young as 14 for sex.

Barbara Sampson, New York’s chief medical examiner ruled that Epstein had killed committed suicide. Barbra’s ruling has since been disputed by Epstein’s lawyers and his brother Mark.

Epstein, 66, was a billionaire fund manager and proprietor in Banking who had deep connections with myriad of celebrities for years. He was a close buddy of  Britain’s Prince Andrew and US President Donald Trump.

His demise fuelled numerous conspiracy theories with most of them speculating that he had been murdered to stop him from revealing compromising information about some of his wealthy acquaintances and US political elites like the Clintons.

For example, days after his arrest online memes and Facebook statuses claimed the Obama administration, in order to protect former President Clinton, forged a once-secret deal in 2008 in Florida that allowed him to plead guilty to soliciting a minor for prostitution to avoid more serious charges.

Epstein was charged with one count of sex trafficking of minors and another of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors. He denied the charges but faced up to 45 years in jail if found guilty.

After news about Jeffrey Epstein’s death went viral globally, dozens of women came out and  alleged that they had been sexually abused by him and several have sued his estate for damages.

India has slashed off taxes impossed on manufacturing and production in a move to attract global phone manufacturers like Apple to move production of their devices to the country.

India introduced new tax legislation which lower taxes in its manufacturing sector. The move aims at making the country more appealing to both local and international manufacturers.

“We have redone the entire architecture of taxation law as far as manufacturing is concerned. As of now, this corporate tax cut in itself is massive. Mobile phones already are a success story.” Prasad told The Economic Times

  • Facebook Facing Another Probe

    Facebook Facing Another Probe

On Wednesday, the US Justice Department stated that they have launched investigations on Facebook to determine whether the social media giant violated Federal antitrust laws.

The investigation, reportedly begun at the urging of US Attorney General William Barr, come as the Federal Trade Commission conducts its own investigation into whether the social media giant illegally harmed competition.

While the FTC’s probe focuses on whether Facebook’s acquisitions were intended to stifle competition, the Justice Department’s probe will focus on separate behavior, citing an unidentified person familiar with the matter. Attorneys general from several states and Washington DC are also investigating Facebook over potential antitrust violations.

As the largest social network in the world, Facebook has become an integral part of people’s lives online, and critics charge that the social network has gained its prominence by simply buying up its competition. The double investigations come after months of lawmakers arguing that tech giants like Facebook need to be broken up. The Justice Department and the House antitrust subcommittee are also looking at antitrust concerns regarding Facebook, as well as Apple, Google, and Amazon.

In July this year, Facebook revealed that FTC had launched an antitrust investigation into the company, but the social network didn’t provide many details. The FTC’s investigation reportedly focuses on whether Facebook’s purchases of companies such as Instagram and WhatsApp were part of the social media giant’s strategy to hobble competition.

The FTC and Justice Department share antitrust enforcement responsibilities but typically reach jurisdiction agreements to avoid overlap. The two agencies divided the investigations of the four tech giants between the two, with Facebook and Amazon going to the Justice Department, while Apple and Google probes went to the FTC.

But the agreement between the two agencies didn’t cover all conduct by the companies, and Barr pressed for the Justice Department to retain jurisdiction over Facebook. Facebook and the Justice Department didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment from the Bloomberg.

  • How Viral FaceApp Could Be Used To Influence US And Kenya’s Elections

How Viral FaceApp Could Be Used To Influence US And Kenya’s Elections

FaceApp – an app that lets you edit your photos to appear younger, older, or as the opposite gender has finally gone viral after 2 years of existence.

FaceApp blew the internet globally making it the most downloaded and active app currently thanks to the #faceappChallenge.

The viral Challenge has seen Celebrities and global social media influencers sharing images of their older and younger selves.

Take for instance, theJonas Brothers did it.

Even that most terrifying robot is doing it.

But everyone should be extra cautious as you all flood the App giving it your full information and permissions to access your private data.

Is FaceApp safe with all your faces and private information?

Do you all know, understand or even have gone through their terms and Conditions?

In recent years, we’ve had couple of scandals involving questionable data collection via social media Apps.

Take for instance, Cambridge Analytica was alleged to have Used Millions of Facebook users Private data sway the results in all the election campaigns they were involved in.

Perhaps, FaceApp, being owned by Russians who had data mining links with Cambridge Analytica might be a crisis everyone has embraced.

For those of you who don’t remember Cambridge analytica was accused of using similar ‘viral influential’ methods in mining the data during elections.

Do you all remember during those times Cambridge had funny questions on Facebook that prompted one to let funny apps get permissions to access private data?

Well, Yes- the permissions gives not only biometrics but also is a smooth way to study your behaviors and give you targeted ads.

Well, If Cambridge Analytica used hate campaigns then nothing can stop FaceApp from selling your data or any other company can use such unscrupulous deals.

Cambridge did it in USA, where they swayed people’s opinions and votes for Trump.

On Tuesday night, Alexandra Phillips admitted that Cambridge helped Jubilee leader, the Current President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta in unscrupulous way just the same way the did to Brexit vote.

Big data is the new business and this FaceApp is definitely it. When you access FaceApp you give them permission to access so much of your personal data from their end.

For instance in the US, Russia unleashed extensive campaigns of fake news and disinformation on social media with the aim of distorting US public opinion, sowing discord and swinging the election in favor of the Republican candidate Donald Trump.

The US Attorney General William Barr, had released a redacted version of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference in the 2016 election to Congress and the public.

Mueller has spent nearly two years investigating attacks on the US 2016 Presidential election and whether the Trump campaign coordinated with the Russians behind it.

    Read the roughly 400-page report.

Mueller also was tasked with looking into any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation.

Such instances is, without doubt what’s making some people wonder if FaceApp could be more ‘evil’ than it looks.

Scott Budman, a technology report pointed out that FaceApp isn’t clear about what it does with images of your face once you’ve used the app.

Everyone should should be warned that FaceApp was developed and being ranned by a Russian company.

Recently companies have been caught selling privileged information of their users.

In May, an international media had reported that a photo storage app, was using shared images to train facial recognition technology which it then sold on to private companies, law enforcement and the military.

In February, IBM were found to be using Flickr photos to train facial recognition systems without users’ permission.

FaceApp are allegedly uploading users’ entire camera roll to their server, rather than just photos that are explicitly selected from the users side.

David Vaile, chair of the Australian Privacy Foundation, said this about this about FaceApp’s privacy policy in 2017.

“They ask for way more rights than they need to offer the service to you, [they] can remove the data from any effective legal protection regime, share it with almost anyone, and retain it indefinitely.”

“It is impossible to tell from this what happens when you upload it, that is the problem. The licence is so lax. They can claim you agree they can send to wherever they like to whoever they like, and so long as there is some connection, [they can] do a lot of things with it.” Viale added.

    Security expert Ariel Hochstadt Said this about FaceApp;
“They also know who this image is, with the huge database they created of Facebook accounts and faces, and the data they have on that person is both private and accurate to the name, city and other details found on Facebook.”

“With so many breaches, they can get information and hack cameras that are out there, and be able to create a database of people all over the world, with information these people didn’t imagine is collected on them.” Hochstadt added.

UK-based Digital strategist James Whatley said on Twitter.

Many tech companies, Just like FaceApp, quietly takes information from its users.

Millions of people give up their data every day without realising it.

You can read the FaceApp’s terms, conditions and their privacy policy here.

Everyone, at least by now, should be extra cautious when giving up their private data for or in a simple viral challenge.
