‪KUCCPS Reopens Final Course Revision Window for 2024 KCSE Candidates‬

KCSE candidates now have until June 7 to review and update their university and college course selections, following the reopening of the second and final revision window for 2025 placements by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

In a notice, the placement agency urged all eligible 2024 KCSE candidates to log in and take advantage of this opportunity before the deadline.

“2025/2026 university and college placement KUCCPS system is open for the second revision of university, college and programme choices. May 31 – June 7. Log in to students.kuccps.net and apply,” the agency said.

The opportunity is also open to students who either missed the initial application or were unsuccessful in their first attempt, allowing them to submit their course choices.

Students from the 2024 KCSE cohort have been instructed to access the portal at http://students.kuccps.net to complete their applications.

    Password

Applicants must log in using their KCSE index number, examination year, and password.

The placement agency also urged candidates to use their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) index number or birth certificate number as their password.

Once logged in, applicants can browse available programmes and add or revise their course selections.

The reopening follows the closure of the first revision window, which ran from Saturday, May 18, to Tuesday, May 27.

“Deadline alert! KUCCPS application system closes tonight, May 27, 2025, for the first revision of choices to universities. Log in and apply,” KUCCPS stated in a notice on the final day of the first revision period.

KUCCPS confirmed that 2024 Form Four leavers who missed the initial application opportunity are still eligible to apply during this second revision period.

The KUCCPS system includes 40 public universities that offer government scholarships and HELB loans, 29 private universities where students can get HELB loans, and 263 public colleges that provide both scholarships and HELB support.

KUCCPS has urged all eligible candidates to seize this final chance to secure placements in their preferred institutions before the June 7 deadline.

  • KUCCPS Reopens Portal for 2025/2026 University and College Placement Revisions

KUCCPS Reopens Portal for 2025/2026 University and College Placement Revisions

Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened the online application system for Revision of Choices for placement of students to universities and colleges for the 2025/2026 Placement Cycle.

KUCCPS said applicants who did not secure a course in the application that ended on April 30, 2025, have been invited to log in again and choose remaining courses as listed on the portal.

Form Four Leavers who attained a mean grade in their respective KCSE examinations but are yet to make an application for placement have also been invited.

To access the portal, visit the KUCCPS website http://kuccps.ac.ke and click the tab Student Portal.

The revision will run from May 18 to May 27, 2025.

In the April announcement for applications, KUCCPS noted that there were 40 public universities, 29 private universities, and one Open University of Kenya available learning institutions to apply.

The group is also eligible for the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).

A further 263 public colleges were available and eligible for government scholarships and HELB loans, with an additional 141 public colleges (KMTC and colleges in other ministries) and university TVET available for applications.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba had announced in February the intention to open the portal in March for students who were seeking university placement for the September 2025 intake.

“In keeping with the annual placement calendar, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) will open the placement portal for the September 2025 university intake in March 2025,” Ogamba said.

KUCCPS was established in 2014 to coordinate the selection of students for enrolment in universities, teacher training colleges, national polytechnics, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutes and other training institutions.

The agency also develops career guidance programs for the benefit of students, collects and retains data relating to student placement to universities and colleges and advises the government on matters relating to student placement.

KUCCPS Refutes System Failure Claims, Assures Smooth University Placement Process

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has dismissed claims of system failure in its operations.

It has, however, assured that the ongoing application exercise is on track and proceeding smoothly.

In a statement, KUCCPS clarified that it was misleading and unfair to allege low turnout, noting that the exercise, targeting over 246,000 students, is still underway and set to conclude on April 30, 2025.

Speaking during a monitoring visit at Nyamache Sub-county, KUCCPS representative Prof. John Oluoch confirmed that the agency had adequately deployed personnel across the country to fast-track and support the application process.

Prof. Oluoch added that the KUCCPS portal was reopened on March 23, 2025, to allow new applicants and latecomers, who missed the initial and subsequent revision phases, to submit their applications to universities, colleges, TVETS, and teacher training colleges (TTCS).

Several students and parents interviewed expressed satisfaction with the process, citing improved access to Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) services, government scholarships, and university funding.

They credited this to the intervention of local education champion Dr. Siringi, a professional from the area.

Among those who spoke were Peter Nyaboga, a parent, and students Joash Machuka, Sheba Mogere, and Joyce Bosibori.

They petitioned the government to consider annual student induction programs to ease the transition into tertiary education.

However, some students admitted to facing initial challenges, including demands for unofficial payments to access assistance, while others were discouraged from applying altogether.

  • KUCCPS Warns Of Common Mistakes Students Make in Course Applications

KUCCPS Warns Of Common Mistakes Students Make in Course Applications

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has issued a crucial advisory to 2024 KCSE candidates applying for university and college courses.

In a statement released on Monday, April 7, KUCCPS highlighted seven common mistakes made by applicants on the online portal, which could negatively affect their placement.

Top on the list is the submission of incorrect phone numbers during the contact information stage. KUCCPS warned that providing inaccurate contact details could lead to missed updates or placement notifications.

Submitting courses in basket isn’t enough

Another frequent error involves leaving selected courses in the Course Basket without completing the application process.

KUCCPS reminded students that adding courses to the basket is not the final step. To complete the process, one must click the “Application/Revision” button, then tap “Apply Now” to submit the choices.

    Limited choices = Limited chances

Many applicants also apply for just one course, leaving the rest of the slots blank. KUCCPS recommends selecting all four available choices to boost placement chances.

Applying for the same course in all slots is also discouraged, especially for highly competitive programs like medicine and engineering, as it reduces the applicant’s flexibility during selection.

    Avoid choosing courses randomly

The placement body also emphasized the need to arrange course selections in order of preference. The first choice should represent the applicant’s top priority, followed by the second, third, and fourth in descending order of preference.

KUCCPS also noted that some candidates mistakenly submit their mobile money transaction ID as the application number instead of using the correct eCitizen account code, which is alphabetical and found in the payment confirmation message.

Help is available across the country

To help students navigate the application process, KUCCPS has established support centres in all 47 counties.

Key locations include Alupe University (Busia), Maseno University (Kisumu), Baringo National Polytechnic (Baringo), Technical University of Mombasa, and Karen Institute for the Deaf in Nairobi.

Candidates are encouraged to seek assistance and make informed choices before the deadline to increase their chances of successful placement.
