Justin Muturi Faces Arrest Threat Over Alleged Government Secrecy Breach

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen launched a scathing attack on former Public Service CS Justin Muturi in a dramatic escalation of political tension.

Murkomen now accuses Muturi of breaching government confidentiality by withholding sensitive state documents.

The Interior CS is demanding a full investigation and possible arrest, warning that such actions would have led to immediate detention in other countries.

This growing feud signals deeper rifts within President Ruto’s government and raises questions about transparency, loyalty, and internal power plays.

CS Murkomen Demands Justin Muturi’s Arrest Over State Secrets

Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has publicly declared that former Public Service CS Justin Muturi could face arrest for allegedly mishandling confidential government documents.

Speaking in Mombasa on April 8, Murkomen said Muturi had admitted to keeping classified documents in his personal email—an act he described as dangerous and illegal.

“He says he kept government documents in an email. In another country, he could have been arrested. That is not how we handle state material,” Murkomen emphasized.

He called on top investigative bodies—the EACC, DPP, and DCI—to move in and probe Muturi without delay.

Murkomen believes that Muturi’s actions have put the government at risk and that his behavior warrants legal action.

Murkomen also took the opportunity to dismiss Muturi’s claims that President William Ruto tried to coerce him into corrupt deals.

Instead of speaking to the media, the CS challenged Muturi to present any evidence of such coercion directly to the DCI.

“If he was really forced to engage in corruption, let him go to DCI and provide the evidence. Why is he waiting to be summoned? He walked there the other day—he can walk in again,” Murkomen fired.

The Interior CS’s outburst came just hours after he clarified that the recent withdrawal of Muturi’s security detail was routine.

He stated that the move might have been a scale-down, not a targeted political action, since Muturi is no longer in government.

“I’ll check with the Inspector General. Security matters are not political—they’re handled at the IG level. If Muturi wants to escalate it, then it can come to my desk,” Murkomen added.

Muturi Cries Foul Over Security Withdrawal

Earlier that same day, Justin Muturi claimed the government was punishing him for his political views. According to him, his bodyguards were ordered to stop reporting to duty without warning. He believes the withdrawal was a response to his vocal criticism of the Ruto administration.

“The government immediately withdrew my security. They were told not to report because I am fighting the government,” Muturi said in a strongly worded statement.

Still, he tried to downplay the severity of the action. “It’s okay. Many Kenyans don’t have government protection. I’ll be fine,” he said.

Muturi’s remarks have fueled speculation of a growing fallout between him and President Ruto’s inner circle. Once a key ally, Muturi’s recent public dissent—and now, these claims of targeted intimidation—paint a picture of deepening fractures within the ruling administration.

As political tensions rise, all eyes are now on the DCI and EACC to see if formal investigations will begin—and whether Justin Muturi, once a powerful Cabinet figure, will find himself on the wrong side of the law.

How Murkomen is feeding on Ruto-Toglos beef

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos is one of the few politicians in Rift Valley who are not seeing eye to eye with the Deputy President William Ruto who is controlling the vote rich region.

Toglos fell out with Ruto after he was bought by the Baringo Senator Gideon Moi who is struggling take the control of the region from the DP who has stamped authority and set his eyes on the presidency in 2022 to win or win.

But Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who wants to succeed governor Toglos in 2022 is feeding on DP and the latter’s bad blood to drive his  gubernatorial ambitions.

Murkomen made that his strategy after Tolgos ditched Ruto in 2019 to be insulated by Moi when Ethics and Anti Corruption detectives were on his neck for looting more than Sh200 million through a shady fuel supply deal.

Governor Toglos has however keen to have his Deputy Wesley Rotich take over from him. The DG is his only trusted partner in crime who can cover up his mess.  He even accompanied the governor to EACC offices on November 14, 2019 when he was summoned for interrogation.

Murkomen is hell bent to stop DG Rotich from ascending to governorship arguing that it will be a continuation of the rampant looting that has been witnessed under Toglos.

The outspoken Senator recently rode Ruto’s popularity in the region to humuliate Governor Tolgos who is Building Bridges Initiative North Rift coordinator when he (Murkomen) instructed MCAs to shoot down the constitutional amendment Bill 2020.

Murkomen was even plotting to rally the MCAs to impeach the corrupt governor but he feared that ODM and Wiper senators would be rented by Moi to save Tolgos or it can be in the same fashion Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru was saved.

Tolgos is also blamed his woes on Senator Kipchumba Murkomen after the governor opposed the construction of Arror and Kimwarer dams before  compensating the locals.

  • Why Kenyan Lawyers-Turned-Politicians Are Derailing Fight Against Graft In Kenya

Why Kenyan Lawyers-Turned-Politicians Are Derailing Fight Against Graft In Kenya

Photo|Courtesy. NASA Principal Rails Odinga posing with his Lawyers-turned-Politicians in Milimani law court

Lawyers are a higher breed of intellect, and so it’s their privilege to lie.

It’s said that Lawyers make the best legislators and so are Lawyers-turned- Politicians. In world stage, i cant disagree with this norm but this has greatly derailed Kenya as a 3rd world country still in the cleansing cycle to remove economic, political and social rusts. This makes me furthermore agree with Richard Laam that “All we know about the new economic world tells us that nations which train engineers will prevail over those which train lawyers. No nation has ever sued its way to greatness. ”

Lawyers are smart intellects but privileged liars provided that their bank accounts keeps on bloating with money.

In Kenya, mainstream media houses are paid to cleanse public coffers through their lawyers as political analysts to control public mind since power lies in the hands of the people and which also corrupts minds of the judges and magistrates.

Argument by lawyers should only be in the court rooms. But these Lawyers- turned- Politicians cover up in the name of Political analysts at a time when they’re representing high profile, elite class cases.

This is evident and in the public dormain when Chief Justice David Maraga pointed out controversial City lawyer Grand Muller Ahmednassir Abdulahi for disrespecting the Courts and profession arguing and discrediting court outside the court.

The team standing by the side of Governor Mike Sonko led by lawyer Cecil; Makueni County Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Dan Maanzo-MP Makueni, George Kithi, Alphonse Mutinda, Osundwa Michael, Harrison Kinyanjui lawyer Nelson Havi and three othersSonko is facing money laundering, bribery and other corruption-related charges on a Sh357 million scandal to which he pleaded “not guilty” to when he was arraigned before anti-corruption court magistrate Douglas Ogoti, in a packed court that was secured by anti-riot police officers.

2.Deputy Chief Justice (DCJ) Philomena Mwilu

Senators James Orengo (Siaya), Mutula Kilonzo Junior (Makueni) and Nyamira’s Okong’o Omogeni. Three Members of Parliament who are advocates have also joined the legal team and they include Anthony Oluoch (Mathare), Millie Odhiambo (Suba North) and Homa Bay’s Peter Kaluma. Not forgetting former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka was also part of the legal.

This whole legal team was full of Lawyers turned Politicians from one political side. A case which was politically instigated over 2017 elections when Supreme court which DCJ Mwilu was among the 4 Judges who invalidated the 2017 General election Presidential results as null and void being hunted by the same people whose results were invalidated and who had promised to revenge the Judges,  promised to revisit the Judicial system which they termed as ‘Wakora’ network – Conmen.

    3. Senator, SC James Orengo in Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong’s case.

Here is a hullabaloo where the watchdog Senator who is suppose to oversee the performance of the County led by the Governor is protecting the thief in the name of being a lawyer. This is case of personal interest being that they both belong in the same political party at the ground hence his involvement was in the best interest of the party and personal gain over the common citizens, taxpayers whose money were stolen from.

I fail to understand the kind of Jurisprudence by which Kenyan lawyers-turned-politicians, who have been leading demonstrators to fight against corruption, can rationalize defending those accused of corruption

In Kenya, almost 60% of the Legislators are Lawyers-turned-Politicians. They make laws in parliament that will be easy for them to defend and win in the court when caught up. They make laws that suit their best interests tomorrow. Legislators duty is to make laws while Lawyers duty is to defend these Laws and simply you dont expect those who defend these laws to make tough legislations that will challenge them to defend. These individuals don’t represent interest of common mwananchi but the best interest of their future jobs.

Dishonest lawyers are product from dishonest clients and in Kenyan cases, the dishonest people implicated in graft cases are the same Lawyers-turned-politicians who get defended before the judge by fellow Lawyers-turned-politicians because they’ve a right to do so when this is morally absurd and mockery of Justice.

Personally i think it’s high time Lawyers-turned-politicians are exempted from participating in such cases if this Graft menace is to be won. A lawyer with briefcase steals 100 times what 100 gunmen can steal at the same time.
