What Really Happened? DCI Investigate Deadly Shooting Involving Hussein Mohamed Bodyguard

A bodyguard assigned to State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed fatally shot a man in Muthangari, Nairobi, on Sunday night. Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter.

Muhammed Yusuf Keinan, the bodyguard, claims he was attacked by three men while walking home at around 8:00 p.m.

He says the attackers tried to steal his Ceska pistol, forcing him to fire several shots. One of the bullets struck and killed Amos Lang’at, a 38-year-old man. The other two assailants fled on a motorcycle.

Now, police are reviewing the case to determine whether Yusuf acted in self-defense or if there was another motive behind the shooting.

Hussein Mohamed Bodyguard’s Account: A Struggle for Survival or Unjustified Force?

Yusuf told police that the three men confronted him and attempted to steal his firearm. He said one of them managed to grab his Ceska pistol, but he wrestled it back.

He then fired multiple warning shots into the air, hoping to scare them away. However, the confrontation ended with Lang’at being shot dead.

The bodyguard reported suffering injuries to his arm during the struggle. Police have since disarmed him and admitted him to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators are working to verify his account and determine whether he was justified in using lethal force.

Detectives are considering multiple angles, including whether this was an attempted robbery or if there could be another reason behind the attack.

A senior officer involved in the case stated, “At this point, we are relying on his statement, but we need more evidence to confirm what really happened.”

CCTV Footage and Witness Testimonies: Key to Unlocking the Truth

Police officers at Muthangari station are revisiting the crime scene to collect evidence and interview possible witnesses. They are also searching for any CCTV footage that may have captured the incident.

So far, no arrests have been made. However, detectives believe reviewing surveillance footage and gathering more testimonies will clarify the sequence of events.

“For now, we don’t have anyone in custody, but as we continue piecing together the evidence, we expect to make progress,” an officer involved in the probe said.

The body of Amos Lang’at has been moved to the Chiromo Mortuary as investigations continue.

Was This an Isolated Incident or a Security Concern?

This shooting raises serious questions about security, self-defense, and the role of armed bodyguards in Kenya.

Was the attack a random robbery, or did Lang’at and his associates have another motive? Was the use of deadly force necessary?

As the investigation unfolds, police will determine whether Yusuf’s actions were lawful or if he will face charges. The coming days will be critical in establishing the truth behind this fatal encounter.

President Ruto And Uhuru Hold Phone Call Over His Pension

President William Ruto has formed a team to address concerns raised by retired president Uhuru Kenyatta over his office and staff establishment.

According to State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, this follows talks between the two leaders.

“This morning, President William Ruto had a conversation with his predecessor in office, the 4th President, President Uhuru Kenyatta, regarding concerns about facilitating the functioning of the retired President’s office,” he stated.

“President Ruto has consequently constituted a team, led by the Head of Public Service, to immediately address all the issues raised, including the location of the retired President’s office and the attendant staff establishment.”

The decision was made during a cabinet meeting where Head of Public Service Felix Koskei was tasked to head the team that will also look at entire requirement package allocated to Kenyatta.

Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura had stated that procurement regulations will not be flouted to pay for a private office leased by the former President after he rejected the one located in Nyari, Nairobi.

This is after the Director of Communications Kanze Dena expressed concerns over the government’s failure to meet the constitutional requirements for the retired head of state.

Kenyatta’s office further revealed that the former president has never received the full budget allocation as required by law, forcing him to fund ongoing challenges, forcing him to finance essentials like office space among others.

Despite an allocation of Sh655 million, Kenyatta’s office said only Sh28 million was released this fiscal year, raising concerns about budget disbursement to the former president.

State House: There’s No Issue Between Ruto And Gachagua

State House has dismissed reports of strained relations between President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

State House spokesperson Hussein Mohammed who was responding to a question by one of the journalists during a press briefing on President William Ruto’s historic visit to the US said there was no issue between the two leaders.

The rumours have been fueled by the absence of the DP from key state functions.

Hussein said the office of the Deputy President has all the capabilities and competencies to respond to any questions regarding the second in command.

“There is no issue between the President and his Deputy. If you have a question or want to find anything about the DP, you can get the information from the Office of the Deputy President which has all the capabilities and competencies” he said.

This is not the first time such rumours are circulating. Last year, Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura termed similiar reports a “creation of the media” stating that the president and deputy are reading from the same script.

The DP on Sunday attended a church service at the Sacred Heart Endarasha Catholic Church, Kieni Constituency, Nyeri County.

President Ruto and the First Lady Mama Rachael will kick off their visit to the US on Monday.

“Tomorrow, President Ruto’s US visit will commence in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, then later visit the Ebenezer Baptist Church to pay homage to the civil rights struggle” said Hussein.

On Tuesday, in Atlanta, President Ruto will visit Spelman College, later go to Tyler Perry Studios to explore opportunities, and in the company of First Lady Rachel Ruto, attend a dinner hosted by the state’s mayor, Andre Dickens.

The culmination of the visit will be on Thursday, May 23, when the Kenyan leader will meet his host President Joe Biden.

“On Wednesday, President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto will travel to Washington, DC, where they will be officially received with full ceremonial state honors, later meet a congressional delegation, and hold discussions at Capital Hill” Hussein added.
