    Barcelona Thrash Real 5-2 In Spanish Super Cup Thriller

    Barcelona came from an early goal down to beat Real Madrid 5-2 in the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday, scoring four goals in a dominant first half and surviving having their goalkeeper sent off to clinch a record-extending 15th trophy.

    French forward Kylian Mbappe put Real in front after five minutes, finishing a solo run with a shot inside the far post. However, Lamine Yamal levelled for Barcelona in the 22nd before striker Robert Lewandowski gave them the lead from the spot.

    Raphinha increased the advantage with a stunning header from a Jules Kounde cross in the 39th minute and left back Alejandro Balde added a fourth for Barca deep into first-half stoppage time.

    Raphinha made it 5-1 just after the break, before Barca were left with 10 men when goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was sent off for fouling Mbappe in the 56th minute. Rodrygo beat substitute keeper Inaki Pena from the resulting free kick but 10-man Barca easily saw out the win.

    Continuing their unbeaten run in La Liga, Barcelona beat Villarreal 5-1 at away on Sunday and won their all six games.

    Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha starred with two goals each while Pablo Torre scored the other goal for Barca.

    Real Madrid beat Espanyol 4-1 at home, while Athletic Bilbao beat Celta Vigo 3-1 at home.

    Atletico Madrid, another undefeated team in the league, settled for one point with a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano.

    After week 6 concluded in LaLiga, Barcelona maintained their place at the top with 18 points, while Real Madrid, Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid are behind with 14, 13 and 12 points, respectively.

    Manchester City fail to beat Arsenal


    In the English Premier League clash between Manchester City and Arsenal the game ended with a 2-2 draw.

    Manchester City, which took the lead with Erling Haaland’s goal, failed to prevent the goals of Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel.

    John Stones, who took the stage late in the game, secured one point for the Sky Blues with his late goal.

    Both Liverpool and Aston Villa played at home, making good use of their opponents’ loss of points.

    Liverpool beat Bournemouth 3-0 and Aston Villa beat Wolverhampton 3-1.

    In week 5 of the Premier League, Manchester City have the first spot with 13 points, followed by Liverpool and Aston Villa with 12 points each and Arsenal with 11 points.

    Borussia Dortmund suffered their first defeat by losing 5-1 at away to Stuttgart.

    After week 4 in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich continued to lead the standings with 12 points, while Bayer Leverkusen, Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt are behind the leaders with 9 points each.

    Serie A’s surprise leaders Torino

    In Serie A, Torino beat Hellas Verona 3-2 at away with goals of Antonio Sanabria, Duvan Zapata and Che Adams and topped the table in a week when their rivals lost vital points.

    In the standout match of the week, AC Milan won the Milan derby 2-1 against Inter Milan.

    Napoli’s three-match winning streak came to an end after a goalless draw with Juventus.

    Roma beat Udinese 3-0 to get their first win, while Empoli defeated Cagliari 2-0 away.

    Monaco, one of the undefeated teams in the league, beat Le Havre 3-1 at home.

    PSG maintained their leadership ahead of Marseille and Monaco, all with 13 points each, with a goal difference.

    Barcelona took the lead twice in the first half but Girona were dominant in the second half securing victory against their powerful opponents. Girona’s Portu scored twice against Xavi’s Barcelona in the second half of the six-goal thriller.

    Girona, LaLiga’s surprise package, have qualified for the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League for the first time in club history.

    Real Madrid have 87 points to win the Spanish league title, with four matches to spare.

    Second-place Girona have 74 points after beating Barcelona.

    Former Liverpool FC start currently Barcelona striker Luis Suarez states that he won’t rejoice if  he scores against Liverpool at Anfield in Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg.

    Suarez, who left Liverpool 5 years ago, was on the score listed when Liverpool played Barca at the Nou Camp.

    The Uruguayan football star apologized for celebrating last week and says he “respects” Liverpool fans.

    “I think there will be more applause than whistles. There may be quite a few who are not happy but I think there will be more who are happy and grateful.” said Suarez.

    Suarez, who celebrated his goal at Nou Camp, said he did that because of the importance of the match and the win. He also says that the celebrations were for the appreciations of the Barcelona’s home fans.

    “I have all the respect in the world for the Liverpool fans. Because I scored and celebrated with my fans, I say sorry.” said Suarez.

    Suarez said that if he scores in the Tuesday’s match at Anfield he won’t celebrate the same way.

    Suarez scored 82 goals in 133 games for Liverpool club. He also thanked the step that his tenure at Liverpool added to his current career.
