  • Woman Chops Off Husband’s Penis For Denying Her Sex

Woman Chops Off Husband’s Penis For Denying Her Sex

A wife slashed her husband’s penis off in Uganda after he refused to have sex with her as punishment for her continuous heavy drinking.

Beatrice Acen, 35, returned home plastered at 10pm on June 30 and proceeded to demand sex from her husband, Moses Okot, a 46-year-old peasant farmer.

Mr Okot said that he had returned home from hunting during the day, eaten and gone to sleep when his wife attacked him.

On her return to the house she called out to him to open the door for her.

He was already asleep and awoke to ‘find my pants wetted with blood,’ he said.

Mrs Acen is now on the run.

The victim believes that his wife resorted to this drastic measure due to his longstanding method of punishing her for her ‘alcoholism.’

‘As a man, I would no longer tolerate such, so I decided to deny her sex with hope that she would reform,’ he said.

This is not the first time that Mrs Okot got physical when her husband denied her advances, the report claimed.

The chairman of the village where the couple live is quoted as saying: ‘Last year, she broke this man’s collar bone during a domestic fight and ran away.’

He added that domestic violence is rife in the village with the women drinking as much as the men.

Mr Okot was taken to the local police station to file a complaint against his wife before being rushed to Apac main hospital where he is now receiving medical treatment.

Domestic violence is a big problem in Uganda, especially northern Uganda where Mr Okot’s village is located.

  • Kenyans Including Lawyer Donald Kipkorir Attacks Safaricom’s Michael Joseph Over Racist Undertones At Bob Collymore’s Memorial

Kenyans Including Lawyer Donald Kipkorir Attacks Safaricom’s Michael Joseph Over Racist Undertones At Bob Collymore’s Memorial

When Safaricom’s interim CEO stood up at All Saints Cathedral to pay his tribute to the late Bob Collymore, he was up to mourn and celebrate a friend. With a poem that apparently they had a pact with the late for whoever remains after the other dies to read, he had his own tribute to pay.

‘Whoever survived the other, would read the poem ‘My Funeral’ at each other’s funeral’ – Grief stricken Michael Joseph revealed the secret ‘funeral pact’ he had with Collymore.

Below is the full poem, titled ‘My Funeral’ as written by Wendy Cope:

I hope I can trust you, friends, not to use our relationship,

As an excuse for an unsolicited ego-trip,

I have seen enough of them at funerals and they make me cross,

At this one, though deceased, I aim to be the boss,

If you are asked to talk about me for five minutes, please do not go on for eight,

There is a strict timetable at the crematorium and nobody wants to be late,

If invited to read a poem, just read the bloody poem,

If requested to sing a song, just sing it, as suggested,

    And don’t say anything,

Though I will not be there,

Glancing pointedly at my watch and fixing the speaker with a malevolent stare,

Remember that this was how I always reacted,

When I felt that anybody’s speech, sermon or poetry reading was becoming too protracted,

Yes, I was intolerant, and not always polite,

And if there aren’t many people at my funeral, it will serve me right.

All was well as the emotional South African national who is double blessed to serve the same company twice paid tribute until he said, “Over the last 15 years I went from being amused by this white man in a black body pretending to be a very serious corporate person to really becoming a serious corporate leader. To the only man I loved and desperately want to live forever, but somehow God had other plans, farewell my friend and God rest your soul.”

His remark has not gone down well with many who feel that he was utterly racist. Kichumba Kipwambok writes, “That is a language perpetuated by a supremacist.  They think just because of their colour,  some how they are better in whatever they do. That a black man or woman cannot perform as good as they can.”

“According to Michael Joseph, no black man can have the compassion and other positive mannerisms of Bob. ‘He was a white man in a black man’s body.’Now you understand why no Kenyan is allowed to be Safaricom CEO? It’s the racist mindset of people like Mike.” Blogger Robert Alai commented.

Ndungu Wanaina, human rights activist and advocate termed MJ’s remarks as ‘abhorrent racism.’

Lawyer Donald Kipkorir also jumped in the conversation with the same tone, “When I said I don’t support Michael Joseph returning to Safaricom, it is bec I know him. I worked with him in the Safaricom IPO where I was Legal Advisor. I experienced his racism. I confirm that he’s a racist … He has no depth .. He was at the right place at the right time.”

However, not everyone saw everything from the same racist scope like lawyer Nelson Havi, “Bob Collymore was a white man in a black skin, a technical term rightfully applied by Michel Joseph to describe disparity of Western/Developed v African/Developing cultures. It wasn’t about colour or race. Any other interpretation is mediocre and myopic. Let Michael speak.” He tweeted in MJ’s support.

  • Henry Kurauka Cuts Himself A Niche For Public Interest Litigation And Now A Highly Demanded Lawyer In Town

Henry Kurauka Cuts Himself A Niche For Public Interest Litigation And Now A Highly Demanded Lawyer In Town

When government attempted to impose a mandatory 1.5% housing levy, many in destitute were left in helpless complaints. Many were up against the government not to implement the directive that was seen to only burden the already overburdened taxpayer.

Consumers Federation of Kenya took the matter to court to stop the government from going ahead with the scheme that was not only elaborate on implementation phase but would be more squeezing to the poorly earning Kenyans. Lawyer Henry Kurauka led the team that petitioned the Employment and Labor Relations Court to bar the government from implementing the levy, the court granted their prayers to the relief of the public.

Henry, a soft spoken lawyer who’s not as vocal in the media spaces has been making silent and serious waves in the legal sphere. He’s  an advocate of the High Court, Henry has rendered legal services on constitutional & commercial law. A PhD holder himself from the University of Nairobi, he has taught at various universities for over 3 years.

Karauka who also tried made an entrance into politics in the last election as a Member of parliament contestant for Tigania West even though the bid was unsuccessful, has been handling various public interests matters at the High Courts. The lawyer has developed credit policy at the LSK Sacco Ltd where serves as a director and chairman credit committee.

Regarded as one of the best brains out of Meru County, Henry is also credited for his efforts in checking the government’s interests rates capping law. In March, acting for Cofek, he moved to court appealing against the High Court ruling that declared the bank interest rates capping unconstitutional.

Starehe MP Charles Njagua consults with his lawyer Henry Kurauka before the court granted him bail.

Acting for Kenya Methodist Church, Henry had moved to the Supreme Court to appeal a ruling that allowed Muslim girls to have hijab in school a move  which the church considered discriminatory. The Supreme Court overturned a Court of Appeal ruling allowing three Muslim students to wear hijabs in school.

The Supreme Court in a majority decision said the ruling by the Appellate court allowing the students was against the school uniform policy. The judges ruled that every school has a right to determine its rules.

He’s also remembered for standing with consumers during the digital migration where he convinced the court to extend deadlines for consumers to acquire the digital boxes before the announced government switch off. Representing COFEK, he also filed a case at the High Court compelling star times and Got to continue providing free to air local channels to Kenyans.

Henry Karauka is also becoming the go to lawyer by prominent Kenyans who’ve found themselves in trouble. He’s the lawyer who recently guaranteed Starehe MP’s Jaguar release after he was incarcerated over his sentiments against foreigners invading local’s opportunities.

Karauka also represented Businessman Paul Kobia in the recent gold probe. He successfully secured his release in record time and currently suing the DCI over damages caused on the property of Paul Kobia at his Riverside home. The police forcefully entered the premise.

‪Dennis Itumbi Now Fears For His Life Says He Has Audio And Video Clip Of The Assassination Plot That He Wants To Play In Court‬

In a replying affidavit to the application by DCI to have the court hold him for 14 more days as they conduct investigations, Itumbi has made a flaming comeback saying he has more damaging information to ascertain the assassination claims and information which puts his life in danger.

Itumbi who pleaded with the court to release him on condition that he surrenders his phone for forensic auditing and that the said WhatsApp group under investigations he’ll keep off, Said he gathered credible evidence to prove assassination plot and was not going to reveal his sources as wanted by the detectives.

Basing his argument on journalistic ethics, Itumbi has refused to disclose his sources but in the files affidavit he tells the court that he fully informed the detectives during interrogations that he has a videotape and audio to affirm the allegations of series of meeting at La Mada where it’s alleged that a group of cabinet secretaries had discussed the plot of killing the deputy president.

Confidently, Itumbi told the court that he was ready and willing to avail the video to the court, “I request to play the audio-video in court. In camera” Read part of the affidavit.

Itumbi pleaded with the court not to allow him to be confined at Kamukunji Police Station where the DCI has requested saying he feared for his life. He said the station holds hardcore criminals some of whom he has dealt with at his position in the Statehouse who could cause harm to him. He mentions Brian Bera the intruder who was shot at Statehouse as a possible person who could cause harm to him. Brian has since been released from jail.

Itumbi also pleaded for court’s leniency not to keep him at Kamukunji arguing that police officers there could be used to harm him given the fact that he has challenged the person of DCI Kinoti and PS

“I fear for my life because the DCI and the PS are very desperate to have my help in saying there’s no plot for assassination and or that it’s based on an empty letter.” Itumbi said in his affidavit.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Radio Wars Takes New Twist As Survey Shows NRG Has Overtaken KISS 100 And Classic FM In Audiences

EXCLUSIVE: Radio Wars Takes New Twist As Survey Shows NRG Has Overtaken KISS 100 And Classic FM In Audiences

Between NRG Radio and Kiss 100 Just to give you a bit of context, NRG Radio is, according to a recent research report by TIFA, the number one name in music! A fete that they have been able to accomplish in just one year of operation! Their brand marketing strategy remains the envy of many and has sent shockwaves across the media industry triggering a war.

Nation Media group were the first to swing a punch with the launch of their youth platform Lit 360 which is yet to take root, despite them recruiting radio bad boy Fareed Khimani, and has quickly fallen off the fray and will be soon dead and buried! Capital FM re-organized their presenter line-up shedding off some dead weight and poached Fareed Khimani from Nation. Whether this will have an impact is for the research numbers to tell.

American Superstar Omarion and Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz at the NRG studios in a past interview.

One FM and Two FM abrubptly shut down with industry speculators claiming that they were sold off to NRG Radio who took over the 97.1FM frequency and have since launched FunX on 91.3FM and Choice Radio on 87.7FM.

Most recently, and faced with collapse and with need to quickly reinvent and stay relevant in a market they were already losing, KISS 100 made the boldest move yet when they poached Kamene Goro and Andrew Kibe from NRG Radio to take over their flagship breakfast show that served as a platform for Caroline Mutoko and Adelle Onyango to build a national profile, and move on to more meaningful pursuits!

To accord the same opportunity to an inexperienced Kamene Goro and the foul-mouthed Andrew Kibe might be a mistep that may cost them dearly! Like a blind man without a walking stick heading towards a wall, it’s obvious what happens next. Rumor also has it that popular online personality Xtian Dela, will be joining the team as a producer.

NRG Radio having invested in developing their own talent (photoshoots, concerts, billboards, fancy cars and all), quickly moved to court citing breach of contract and secured a court order barring Kamene and Kibe from going on air on July 1 2019.

Latest Tifa poll on the radio market command in Nairobi.

In a strange twist of events, the CEOs of both NRG Radio and Kiss 100 held a secret meeting at the late Bob Collymore’s cremation in Kariokor. Sources at the invite-only event confirm that the two were seen exchanging pleasantries.

Kenya Insights can now excusively reveal Radio Africa’s elaborate plan to copy and paste NRG Radio’s business model in an effort to rescue its dwindling fortunes. NRG which is the new kid in the block has in a short timeframe managed to capture the market more so the young and hippyish to run the airwaves in Nairobi. Previous giants like Kiss and Citizen are only watching in envy and this is understandable.

    Below are photos of their new-look copy-paste studios;

    The face change ongoing.

And you can definitely look out for those online follow trains. One thing is for sure, NRG Studios, technology and brand strategy have made all their competitors look very old school.

Inside one of the NRG studios.

Kiss is desparately trying to catch up but poaching NRG talent is not the answer but the uniqueness of the product. NRG for instance made waves with the live audio and visual transmission. They may have gotten lucky with poaching Caroline Mutoko and Maina Kageni from Capital FM but compromising their principles to hire someone like Andrew Kibe will definitely turn away female audiences.

Combined with the fact that they still have the same playlist with the same 100 songs, they will definitely turn off the few remaining fans they may have left. Waiting to see what NRG has in store to teach them a bloody good lesson.

  • A Kenyan Researcher In Team That Has Discovered A New Drug That Can Cure HIV

A Kenyan Researcher In Team That Has Discovered A New Drug That Can Cure HIV

Yes, HIV can be cured. A team of scientists have discovered a new drug can can cure the almost immortal virus.

Big win for the country it has been revealed that a Kenyan scientist, Dr. Benson Edagwa, was amongst the team of researchers who have discovered the new HIV drug.

The collaborative effort of the researchers has for the first time inched closer to finding a cure for HIV after successfully eliminating the virus in living mice.

Dr Benson Edagwa, an assistant professor of pharmacology at the University of Nebraska Medical Centre (UNMC) and researchers at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, used a combination of a modified ARV treatment to keep the virus at low activity levels, along with a powerful gene-editing technique that snipped out HIV genes from infected cells.

WHO estimated that 19.6 million people in East and Southern Africa are living with HIV.

According to WHO, 2.5 million Kenyans are living with HIV with about 380,000 recorded deaths.

If HIV is not treated, it can turn into Aids, a disease in which the virus badly damages the immune system.

In a study involving 29 mice, in some of the animals the team used a combination of gene-editing technology (CRISPR) and a therapeutic treatment called LASER ART to erase HIV DNA from the genomes of animals in what they termed as unprecedented study.

The team published their research yesterday, Tuesday, in the journal Nature Communications.

The scientists found no trace of the virus in 30 per cent of the animals used in the tests.

“This observation is the first step toward showing for the first time, to my knowledge, that HIV is a curable disease,” said Kamel Khalili,

Kamel Khalili is the director of the Neurovirology and the Comprehensive NeuroAIDS Centre at Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine.

LASER ART has been proven to be effective when released slowly over a long period of time.

With Laser medication, traditional anti-HIV drugs are tweaked so they develop a crystal structure, and are then encased in fat-soluble particles.

Laser art enables drugs to slip through the membranes of cells in places where HIV hides like the liver, lymph tissue, and spleen where the cells’ enzymes start to release the drug.

This not only targets viral sanctuaries but also maintains HIV replication at low levels for extended periods of time, reducing the frequency of ART administration.

The crystal structure releases the drugs more slowly, allowing them to continue killing dormant viruses as they start to emerge and replicate for months.

According to Dr. Adagwa, Laser art medication works continuously rather than days or weeks like conventional forms of the medicines.

It is half a century since the first known HIV-related death and two patients appear to have been cured of the virus.

Even though ARV treatment can suppress HIV to the point that it has no impact on life expectancy, and even make it untransmittable, the “London patient”, announced earlier this year to have been cured of HIV offers a medical hope of freedom from a virus that over 37 million people worldwide are living with.

Early last month, Kenya launched a clinical human trial of a vaccine that has the potential to stop HIV infecting cells.

Scientists involved in the trial, Dr. Edagwa amongst them, said on Friday during final preparatory meetings that recruitment for the trial will begin in the next three weeks.

The new vaccine being tested will apply a ‘block approach’ in stopping HIV from attaching itself onto cells.

HIV is a virus that attacks CD4 cells. It is spread through certain body fluids.

The clinical trial, code-named ‘IAVI W001 trial. 664gp140. W001’, will test the vaccine candidate dubbed BG505 SOSIP — a molecule cloned to look exactly as the HIV one — on Kenyan volunteers to check for safety.

“We are going to the root cause. We are going after the virus that’s already integrated in the genome of the host cell,” said co-author of the report,Dr Howard Gendelman.

Dr Howard Gendelman is the chairman of UNMC’s pharmacology and experimental neuroscience department and director of the Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases.

“We are at the cusp of a scientific revolution in human genomes that can change the course, quality and longevity of life,” reads part of Dr Howard conclusion.

Lawyers Moves To Block Bernard Chunga’s Appointment

Chama Cha Mawakili has threatened to moved to court to block the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji’s Taskforce Chair.

Noordin had appointed former Chief Justice Bernard Chunga as a Chairman of a taskforce on establishing a DPP Inspectorate.

Before this suit, Chunga was ,supposed, to lead the one month long Taskforce deputized by Rita Wambui Kuria.

Other appointed Members are Abdirahman Abdillahi, Lawrence Nyalle and Louis Franceschi

Well who is this Justice Chunga?

For those who don’t know him, the notorious Chunga served as the inspectorate Taskforce Chair before he was elevated to head the Bench.

As Deputy Public Prosecutor, Chunga led a Counsel in the commission that Inquired into Robert Ouko’s murder.

Under Justice Evans Gicheru, Chunga led as the main prosecutor at the trial of the former DC Jonah Anguka, who was implicated in the Murder of Robert Ouko.

Chunga was the DPP responsible for prosecuting hundreds of Kenyans first subjected to NIS unspeakable torture by Nyayo Torture House operatives.

Nyayo House tortures remains the darkest chapter in the history of the Kenyan justice system.

Chunga resigned immediately after the newly elected President Mwai Kibaki established a tribunal to investigate the misconduct.

Chunga must under very fortunate cover that made sure he was not called to account.

Here is the legal notice from CMM to DPP Noordin Haji, explaining why bringing Chunga back provokes bitter memories for those who suffered.

    Our Ref: LK/GEN/02/19 Your Ref: T.B. A. Date: 20 July, 2019

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution

    P.O. Box 30701-00100
    NAIROBI 2019

    Attn: Mr, Nordin Haji

    Dear Sir,

RE: APPOINTMENT OF MR. BER CH A

We have been retained by Chama Cha Mawakili Company Limited, on whose
instructions we write to you as below

Corruption and human rights violations are the most egregious concerns for the people of Kenya. As a result, the Constitution places the rule of law, respect and protection of
    human rights at the center

Our Client has, however, noted with shock Gazette Notice No 5718 of 2019 and the accompanying press release on your appointment of Bernard Chunga as chairperson to
a taskforce on prosecution operations. The taskforce is underpinned by section 32 of the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions Act, 2013 and is meant to ensure that your
conduct is in accordance with Article 157 of the Constitution, The choice of Bernard Chunga to head such a Taskforce is an insult to Kenyans and a plain violation of the Constitution

We wish to rekindle your memory as to Bernard Chunga’s tenure as Deputy Public
Prosecutor and Chief Justice. We remind you of the circumstances under which he
    resigned from public office:

    a. Bernard Chunga planned, condoned and executed a programme of torture, and
cruel and degrading treatment including night-time trials and detention-without-trials of political dissidents under the KANU dictatorship. A number of his victims were advocates of the High Court of Kenya

    b. Later as the Chief Justice, Bernard Chunga opted to resign rather than face a Tribunal to investigate his conduct in office for allegations that he had, before and after his appointment as Chief Justice, conducted himself in a manner that does not befit the office of the Chief Justice

    c. According to the Ndung’u Report, Bernard Chunga was illegally allocated two pieces of public lands being Upper Hill, LR No. 209/11965 and Kisumu LR. No. BL/12/336.

We are further instructed that Mr. Chunga has never been prosecuted for these illegal
allocations of public land or for his crimes in office. Instead, you have rewarded him with an appointment to chair a Taskforce meant to ensure that prosecution and trial of the kind Bernard Chunga undertook never occur again

Our instructions are therefore to DEMAND, as we HEREBY DO, that you immediately
and within 24 hours of service of this letter

    1. Revoke the appointment of Bernard Chunga to the Taskforce

    2. Apologize to the people of Kenya and to the victims of Bernard Chunga’s

    torture programme;

Commence investigations to determine the culpability of Bernard Chunga for the
torture, cruel and degrading treatment during his tenure and for the illegal
    acquisition of public property

In default, we will have no option, but to move court for appropriate reliefs and
declarations against you, including the recovery of any public funds spent on this
    appointment.

We will also seek that you personally indemnify the public from the costs
    of this unnecessary litigation.

    Yours Sincerely,

  • DP Ruto’s Office Distances Themselves From Dennis Itumbi Saying He’s Not Theirs

DP Ruto’s Office Distances Themselves From Dennis Itumbi Saying He’s Not Theirs

Last week, divisions within the ruling Jubilee Party widened when a shocking claim surfaced that there was a plan to kill DP Ruto, with a section of politicians allied to Ruto pointing an accusing finger at Interior PS Karanja Kibicho.

DCI detectives investigated the claims, and said they had narrowed down on two people, who, most likely, drafted a letter that “spilled the beans” on the alleged assassination plot.

Dennis Itumbi and another Blogger identified as Sammy have since been arrested. According to the DCI, Itumbi was found to be at the center of crafting the letter that has since been determined as a fabrication.

In the wake of all this, the shocker that has hit reporters is the Office of the Deputy President distancing themselves from Itumbi denouncing him as not one of their own. Officers at the DP officers clarified to reporters that Itumbi is not their official instead a digital director in the office of the president.

This was unexpected given the fact that in the past year, Itumbi has been operating from Harambee Annex after being bundled out of Statehouse when the presidential digital team was restructured. Itumbi has been seen as campaigning for Ruto whom many see as his new boss after breaking ranks with the presidency.

Its unclear why the ODP would through Itumbi  under the bus leaving him to be hanged dry while its public knowledge he’s been part of the team. Even in death, even your shadow leaves you.

Shame As Veteran Lawyer Tobias Muga Ongalo Abandons Son Body To Rot At Lee Funeral Home Since February

The antics and behavior of senior lawyer Tobias Muga Ongalo has left friends and relatives ashamed and frustrated.

The elderly lawyer who spent years working as KCB company secretary had refused to bury his only son, four months after he committed suicide due to family frustrations.

Samson Jonyo Muga, 40, used a rope to kill himself, a day after 2019 Valentines Day.

His body was discovered by his mother in his Ruaka apartment on 16th February 2019.

Believe it or not, Samson’s body is still lying at Lee Funeral Home.

His now decomposing body cannot undergo more embalming yet his father, veteran advocate Tobias Muga Ongalo has flatly rejected pleas to bury him.
Ongalo worked at KCB as company secretary becomes angry and violent when asked when the son will be buried.

Ongalo hails from Kadem, Nyatike Constituency, Migori County.

The excuse he gives is that he wants to build a rural home before burying Samson. The man, in his late 70s has not built a rural home. The last time he was seen in the village is in the 1990s.

This strange behavior has put Ongalo at loggerheads with Samson’s relatives and close friends. Samson was married with one kid.

  • Blogger Robert Alai Says His Arrest And That Of Dennis Itumbi Is A War On Those Allied To DP Ruto

Blogger Robert Alai Says His Arrest And That Of Dennis Itumbi Is A War On Those Allied To DP Ruto

Alai who spent the past two weeks before being finally released on a Sh300,000 cash bail over posts that he made of slain police officers, is back on the grind again.

Following the arrest of Dennis Itumbi whom has been in DP Ruto’s camp as a digital strategist, Alai now claims the arrest is part of the war the state is using to crash those allied to Ruto. In a series of tweets Alai says, “The current arrests are targeting people thought to be close to DP @WilliamsRuto. In the whole of my interrogation, I was NEVER asked anything to do with terrorism. It was all “who do you communicate within Ruto’s office” etc…

Itumbi was arrested in relation to investigations on assassination letter that was circulated. In the letter, there were claims that four CSs from Central held series of meetings at La Mada hotel to scheme on eliminating the DP. However, the DP himself is yet to make a formal complaint on the same.

Alai went further to distance himself from DP saying he’s never in touch with him and accused the ATPU of being used to step on perceived enemies, “They found that I don’t even communicate with DP Ruto and so when they couldn’t find anything to charge me with, they thought of using photos of face charges with terror and using the media for psychological warfare. We will win. Mtashangaa. Using ATPU for political purposes.”

The blogger further made claims that the DCI Kinoti is aware of the psychological warfare behind the assassination letter and that he had been approached by Kinoti to join his team in the war on corruption, “When I saw a section of the media claiming that Kinoti was saying that author of “assassination letter” was in DP Ruto’s office, I knew that they were playing psychological war on DP’s staff and preparing the perfect narrative to warrant Itumbi’s arrest.” Alai tweeted.

He continued, “A few weeks ago, DCI boss Kinoti sent Maina Kageni and others to me to ask me if I could help them with prosecuting corruption cases through blogs. I told them that that ODPP should prosecute corruption through courts since we don’t have parallel courts in blogs.”

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator has also responded to the arrest of Itumbi, “Arrest of OleItumbi is a strategy to divert attention from the La Mada meeting and plan. Was there a meeting? Did PS in charge of DCI say Ruto must be stopped Saitoti way? Who complained about assassination? And to who? The authenticity of the allegations is more important than a letter.” He tweeted moments after the arrest.

Lawyer Donald Kipkorir has also added his voice to the arrests of Itumbi, “Dennis Itumbi & his sidekick Emmanuel Talam & that Editor Of The Star are scum of the earth. They are Master Purveyors Of Fake News. They nearly destroyed the Country in 2017 thro’ highly inflammatory & incendiary Fake News against Baba. Itumbi should be charged with Treason.” He says.

However, in a statement to the media, DCI Kinoti has said that all their investigations have put Itumbi in the center of the fake assassination letter. Itumbi was picked by special crime unit while leaving Charlie’s Bistro restaurant where he had gone to take lunch. He’s currently being questioned at the DCI HQs in Kiambu.

  • Retired Commissioner Isiah Osugo In Trouble Over Sh1.8B Theft At The Prison

Retired Commissioner Isiah Osugo In Trouble Over Sh1.8B Theft At The Prison

Auditor General Edward Ouko has exposed sh 1.8billion scam by Kenya Prisons department.

Auditor General’s report exposes how Kenya Prisons paid phoney suppliers, made double payments for goods and services, procured fake bulletproof vests and jackets.

Last month, EACC unearthed attempts to steal Sh4.8 billion through fictitious security contracts by top prison officials and the Matiangi led Interior ministry.

This questionable payouts were dispatched during the tenure of Isaiah Osugo, The now retired Commissioner General of Kenya Prisons.

Osugo has been holding the position for more than a decade.

According to Ouko’s report,304.4 million paid at Prison headquarters ,on behalf of various prisons, for food rations could not be traced or accounted for.

Ouko report has also exposed two suppliers who were paid Sh2.4 million by prison headquarters, on behalf of Kibos Medium Prison did not deliver the food.

“Indications are that the payments were irregularly made to recipients who did not supply food to the prison,” reads part of Ouko’s report.

Auditor General’s report revealed that Osugo swindled Sh12.4 million using forged pending bills for Kisumu Main Prison.

Ouko also discovered cases of double payments totalling Sh22.5 million in connection with

According to auditor general’s report, Usugo led department double paid non existing suppliers of Naivasha, Eldoret and Kakamega Prisons and Shikusa Borstal.

“However, verification at the prisons revealed massive irregularities as the purported suppliers had never been contracted to supply food and there were no deliveries or receipts at the three prisons,” reads part of the Auditors report.

Osugo and other senior prison bosses have been clearing multimillion fake pending bills.

The report reveals that bills totalling to 288.6million reflected in the headquarters’ records could not be traced to the records of the prisons where food rations were allegedly delivered.

Osugo also left cooked pending bill records worth 18.6 million for food rations. Auditor general’s report indicates the had already been paid before.

Usugo led Prisons department is also on spot for procuring 300 substandard bulletproof and 300 bulletproof vests for Sh22.2 million and Sh20.9 million respectively.

“Audit inspection carried out revealed that the body armour received do not have ballistic panels and cannot be used to protect staff against rifle fire, ammunition, knife stabs and sharp or pointed instruments,” reads part of Ouko’s report.

In mid March this year, EACC  unearthed a Sh4.8 billion scandal executed via fictitious security contracts.

The Audit also reveals that the Osugo led department double paid bills worth Sh2 million to the officer-in-charge of Naivasha Maximum Prison for construction of staff houses.

Prisons also used 128.6 million to pay firewood suppliers countrywide without proof of delivery notes.

Ouko report also raises a red flag on the award of a tender for construction of a perimeter wall at the Eldoret Prisons for 24.8 million.

Auditor generals reveals that prisoners were engaged to construct the same wall despite Osugo dispatching additional Sh7.5 million on the project.

Osugo’s department also oversaw the loss of 1.7 million on a tender for the installation of CCTV surveillance cameras at the Naivasha GK prison.

Prisons headquarters paid 12 million for 190 five megapixels cameras, but the audit report revealed that only 158 cameras were accounted.

“The audit further established that 52 cameras costing Sh 4.5 million installed at the reception and hospital blocks are defective and, therefore, not functioning,” reads part of Ouko’s Audit report.

The audit report also revealed that the contractor supplied eight Power Distribution Boards instead of 30, resulting in a loss of 22 others costing Sh 550,000.

  • Graphic Details Of How Cremation Is Done In Kenya

Graphic Details Of How Cremation Is Done In Kenya

“You’ll be lucky if you made it to August” the exact words doctors had told Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore on his condition. Knowing of his imminent death, the late was fully aware and prepaired.

“Death is inevitable and I have made the decision not to cling on the thought of it because it will eventually come; I just do not know when. I have chosen to focus on the things that are more important to me. Now I know it’s kind of impossible for somebody to live for 200 years.” ~ Bob Collymore.

According to his wishes, his body was to be cremated in a private ceremony, it happened a day after his death.

Wealthy and prominent politicians, church leaders and sports personalities increasingly are opting out of traditional burial ceremonies and choosing cremation. It’s nothing new in Kenya since Hindus and Buddhists have been doing it.

Prominent individuals who opted for cremation include former CEO safaricom Bob Collymore former head of Civil Service Jeremiah Kiereini, Nobel Laureate Wangari Maathai and pro-democracy icon Kenneth Matiba.

The most common crematoriums in Nairobi are the Langata crematorium,Hindu crematorium and the Kariokor crematorium.

Since such burials are often private and away from the public eye, many are clueless as to what it really entails and that’s what we’re going to show you. Because of the possible trauma it come with, family members of the deceased are often advised not to witness the cremation process and instead wait for the ashes.

When a hearse arrives, there is a short session for prayers and then the body is transferred onto a trolley and then wheeled to the cremation chamber.

Attendants places the body on an open pyre of wood for those being cremated on wood. There’s the option of using electric kiln which uses diesel or just firewood.

The body is placed between logs and sawdust placed beneath the rack to be used to light the fire. The temperature is  1,000 to 2,000 degrees Celsius. A family can be invited to light up the fire or the cremator does it.

    Cremation Steps

The first step in the cremation process is to get written consent from the family of the deceased.

“The second step is to know from the family how long they would want their loved one’s cremation to last.”

Cremation takes place in a cremation chamber, also known as a retort, of a crematory.

The chamber is preheated at a set point and then the body is quickly transferred there through a mechanised door to avoid heat loss.

During incineration, the body is exposed to a column of flames produced by a furnace fueled by natural gas, oils, propane, etc.

“The body is doused in a flammable substance. In Kenya, what is mostly used is kerosene and diesel. Petrol cannot be used because it is highly flammable. When diesel is used, the body burns at a faster rate than when kerosene is used,” says Njoka a journalist and an expert in cremation.

As the corpse is placed in a casket or container — preferably prepared from a combustible material –, the container burns down.

Next, the heat dries the body, burns the skin and hair, contracts and chars the muscles, vaporises the soft tissues, and calcifies the bones so that they eventually crumble. The gases released during the process are discharged through an exhaust system.

The bodies are mostly burned one at a time. There is usually no smell because the emissions are processed to destroy the smoke and vaporise the gases that would smell.

Some crematories have a secondary afterburner to help burn the body completely. Otherwise, the cremation technician may have to crush the partially cremated remains with the help of a long hoe-like rod.

The cremation remains are usually pasty white in colour.

These remains are transferred in a cremation urn and given to the relative or representative of the deceased. If you do not have an urn, the crematorium may return the ashes in a plastic box or default container.

While it can be extremely scary for the first timers, seasoned cremators go about their job unbothered like mortuary attendants, in fact, they turn the body in the furnace to ensure it completely burns. Vital organs like the heart and lungs are said to take longer to completely burn so the cremator will often open the furnace to turn and ensure they burn completely.

Cremation fee for an adult is Sh16,800, Sh14,800 for a child and Sh12,800 for infants it can also go as high as Sh100,000 this is entirely dependent on the place it’s happening and method adopted. This is a fraction of what we spend on traditional burial ceremonies.

In developed countries, they’ve developed more sophisticated cremation methods that can take about 20-30 minutes and the whole things is done. However, in Kenya, there are four durations cremations can take: 8 hours, 4 hours, 1-and-a-half hours(the most expensive and likely used for Bob Collymore).

People and different cultures have taken up cremation for various reasons for instance Hindus do not believe in the bodily resurrection and the reuniting of each soul with its physical body. They thus place no importance on preserving the corpse, which is the intent of burial in Christianity and Islam.

Would you prefer traditional burial or the quick cremation way?

  • Auditor General Edward Ouko Reveals How Corrupt State Corporations Looted 823.7 Billions.

Auditor General Edward Ouko Reveals How Corrupt State Corporations Looted 823.7 Billions.

Auditor General Edward Ouko, has once again unearthed a multimillion State corporations fraud.

According to Auditor general, the government risks losing Sh823.7 billion worth of outstanding loans advanced to 72 State corporations.

From the documents seen by this site, Sh47.52 billion of these loans are dormant and have fallen due on various dates over the years.

Auditor-General Edward Ouko’s Annual National Treasury report on government investment and public enterprises
{outstanding loans} reveals that most of the loans were issued out by the National Treasury without the required procedure and documentation.

“Failure to redeem the loans precipitate a high likelihood of defaulting and eventual loss of public funds because of continued write-offs of bad debts,” reads part of Auditor general’s report.

The National Assembly has said that the management of the state corporations did not forward over their respective annual work plans, cashbooks, ledgers, quarterly reports, monitoring and evaluation reports for the loans.

And just like any other State masterminded fraud, the loans did not have documentation determining the beneficiaries, terms of the loans and the authorisation of the disbursements.

“This determination appears to be outside the department’s control, thus the department implements decisions that are made elsewhere. This is exhibited by the continued growth of the outstanding loans,” reads part of Ouko’s report.

The National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chaired by Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi is set to review Auditor Generals report and table their recommendations to the House.

Another revelation in Ouko’s report is how the already defaulting institutions continue to receive funding from The National Treasury.

This casts doubts on the backdoor criteria is being used by the Treasury to advance new loans to the Institutions.

The heads of the 72 States have hidden their budgets, annual plans and, are also sitting on assessment, evaluation and performance reports of the loaning portfolios.

This is how public funds are swindled by corrupt public servants.

According to Ouko, without those budgets, annual plans and, assessment, evaluation and performance reports it’s difficult to determine whether public funds had been used properly.

Here are some of the notorious parastatals with dormant loans in billions of shillings:

Rural Electrification Authority 13.65 Million, Coast Water Service Board 7 million, Northern Water Services Board 5.39 million and Tanathi Water Services Board has Sh4.4 million.

Also on the list of shame is Lake Victoria South Water Services Board with 3 million, Lake Victoria North Water Services Board 2.8million, the collapsing Mumias Sugar Company has 2.5 Billion, the National Water Conservation and Pipeline Corporation 2.46million.

According Auditor general’s report, SONY Sugar Company limited books indicated that they have a loan of Sh770.28 million but Treasury says the have outstanding loans of Sh199.02 million.

The already crippled Mumias Sugar Company limited has Sh3 billion as per its financial records but Treasury records have Sh2.5 billion.

Also, Agro Chemicals owes the public Sh9.07 billion but National Treasury records only captured Sh1.11 billion.

Tanathi Water Services Board has Sh5.20 billion in debt but Treasury records have 5.05 billion.

Another swindle according to Ouko’s report is where Moi University owes the coffers 257.77 million but the Treasury has only listed 31.25 million.

Kenya Meat Commission has 300million but Treasury has 90.24 million in its records.

Utalii College has pending debts of 140.13 million but Treasury lists zero balance.

Faulu Kenya owes the public 176.68 million but Treasury records shows 141.31 million only.

IDB Capital limited alleges to have zero balance but Treasury records indicate they still owe the public 1.56 billion.

Coffee Board of Kenya owes the public 976 million.

Pyrethrum Board of Kenya 863 million, Kenya Industrial Estates 758 million.

Funny enough, Co-operative Bank of Kenya also owes the government Sh476 million despite making billions of shillings in profit every year.

These agencies managements do not pay the loans intentionally so that the government ends up writing off their debts.

This is how government is splashing public money on the tables of greedy parastatals heads.

  • Ten Things You Didn’t Know About The Late Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore

Ten Things You Didn’t Know About The Late Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore

For nearly 10 or so years, Bob Collymore, who died on Monday at his home in Nairobi, has been the face of profit-making telco giant Safaricom.

Until the time of his death, Collymore was arguably the most well-known CEO to the Kenyan public.
But while many Kenyans readily recognised his face and voice, there are a few things about that man that the public may not have been privy to.

Here are ten interesting things about the life and times of Collymore:

    1. Citizenship and early life: Born Robert William Collymore, the Guyanese- born Briton stayed with his grandmother in Guyana until he was 16 years old. He then moved to the United Kingdom to live with his mother.

    2. Early hustler: Collymore started making his own money at the tender age of 12 years. As a pre-teen he would make jewellery and art from shells for sale. When he moved to the UK he landed his first job at 16 years and worked in a departmental store as an office boy. From his earnings he paid his bills.

    3. Education: Collymore never went to university. After finishing high school at Selhurst High School, he was offered a place at Warwick University but he turned down the offer because he was ineligible for funding.

“I wanted to go to university and I disliked not having gone and for some years after I wished I’d gone. Now it doesn’t matter, (but) I would always advise a young person to go to the best university you can find,” he once said about his educational background.

    4. ‘No love’ for Kenyan food: Although he lived in Kenya for more than 10 years, Collymore did not like Kenyan food. He actually preferred Chinese and Indian cuisine.

    5. Marriages and divorces: Collymore was married three times and divorced twice. In an interview with Sunday Nation in August 2018, he talked about his previous marriages.

“The first marriage was a mistake for sure. I was too young — in my 20s. The second one was not a mistake, what was a mistake was how we conducted it,” he said. In April 2016, Collymore married Clare Wambui Kamiru at an invite- only wedding which was held at his private residence in Kitisuru, Nairobi.

Bob Collymore with his wife, Wambui Collymore.

    6. Hobbies and alternative career: Collymore was known for his great love for books of different genres. He also loved flying helicopters and seeing the world. He would spend more than Sh35, 000 an hour on hiring a chopper.

Collymore would definitely have been a painter, if he was not working in the telecommunication industry. From the age of 12 years, he loved art and jewellery-making.

    7. National decoration: In 2012, Collymore was awarded the Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS). The award is in recognition of outstanding or distinguished services rendered to the nation in various capacities and responsibilities and is given by the president of Kenya.

    8. Children: Little is known of his children but during his many interviews he mentioned a son and an adopted daughter. “Guess whose son just received his 1st Class Honours degree in music from Martha Lane-Fox at a graduation ceremony at London’s Barbican,’’ Collymore said in a social media post.

“The other significant thing that happened in my 50s is that I adopted my daughter — we have a 50-year difference between us. That was a great thing,” said Collymore. Collymore also shared two children with his wife Wambui from her previous marriage.

    9. Confidante: Collymore once had only one trusted friend. Unfortunately, he lost the friend. This came up when he was asked who he thought genuinely connected with him as Bob and not as the CEO. “I remember many years ago, Wambui my wife asked me the same question. I said I don’t and that’s why I only have one friend, unfortunately that friend died. She said wow! But over the eight years of being here, we’ve seen more and more people emerge as genuine friends or people who genuinely care. So I have a very small circle of good friends, and they come from different kinds of backgrounds. It’s tough for people like me because we actually want people to care more,” he said.

    10. Mortality: After realising he had cancer Collymore accepted that death was
inevitable. He even shared with his close friends about how prepared he was as early as last year in August. “Death is inevitable and I have made the decision not to cling on the thought of it because it will eventually come. I just do not know when. I have chosen to focus on the things that are more important to me. Now I know it’s kind of impossible
for somebody to live for 200 years. [Chuckles].
But something very important is that when you have cancer the idea of death is near, and so it doesn’t surprise unlike you who is healthy but death could be coming in the next minute or tomorrow morning,” he said.
