President William Ruto has ordered the reopening of all schools on Monday next week May 13.
Ruto made the announcement at Statehouse after advice from the Kenya Met Department.
The president made the announcement when during a meeting with Kajiado and Laikipa leaders.
Kenya has been worst hit by floods due to heavy rains linked to El Nino in what has led to deaths of 238 people and displacement of more than 200,000 others.
The president said the government will avail funds for damaged schools infrastructure through NG-CDF
At the same time, Kenya designates Friday, May 10th, 2024, as a day to commemorate those impacted by climate change and commit to environmental improvement efforts.
